Political candidates

Hi. Just wondering why we have to discount campaign sources in candidates articles and why they are held to a higher standard of notability than GNG. I seem to remember some candidates being deleted at AFD and some kept, so it doesn't seem that there is a consensus that they are not notable. ~EDDY (talk/contribs)~ 16:19, 11 September 2018 (UTC)

I see your point, but with regards to Mary Gay Scanlon the coverage is greater than just routine reporting -- there is also biographical information as well. There is also coverage with regards to her candidacy in the larger scope of the so-called "Year of Women" as well as a profile in the Penn Law Journal, for starters. Deleting information that is well sourced and aids voters is not helpful for the encylopedia, it is actually harmful. Guess we are going to have to agree to disagree on this one. ~EDDY (talk/contribs)~ 16:45, 11 September 2018 (UTC)
That's not an official policy, just an essay some guy wrote. And yes, I believe people will still be interested in Mary Gay Scanlon 10 years hence. For the majority of losing candidates, that would not be the case. ~EDDY (talk/contribs)~ 16:56, 11 September 2018 (UTC)
I did not mean to imply that we can simply disregard the essay because it was an essay, just that it did not have the full weight of a policy. I attempted to create a discussion about the subject at WT:AFD but I haven't had much success. You have an absurdyly high level of standard for candidates above and beyond many other guidelines (for instance, settlements just need to exist) but as I said before I think we will need to agree to disagree. ~EDDY (talk/contribs)~ 17:19, 11 September 2018 (UTC)

Oops

Sorry about this[1], my browser window jumped around a bit when I tried to click a page on my watchlist, so my cursor kept missing the page I was trying to click and I hit rollback on ANI by mistake, but self reverted[2]. CFD is also on my watchlist, so I must have clicked rollback twice and also hit CFD. Tornado chaser (talk) 00:11, 27 September 2018 (UTC)

A feature to know about WP:DRAFTNOCAT

You recently removed the categories from the page Draft:Accord Financial in accordance to WP:DRAFTNOCAT. While your edit is totally legit, there is however a softer option than merely removing categories which is keeping them hidden by either commenting or disabling them as specified in WP:DRAFTNOCAT, while waiting for the article to be moved to the article space. SO I've undone your removal and hid categories accordingly ;-)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:41, 8 October 2018 (UTC)

Can't you please don't pissed me off on 42nd Quebec Legislature page over recount trivial fact because I worked on getting right with some help. Sue-Anne Levy

Hi, you erased an entire paragraph that was added recently on Sue-Anne Levy's page about her viral article falsely spreading the claim that refugees in Toronto were slaughtering goats in their hotel bathrooms - and that very soon after the article's publication, an arson attempt was made on the hotel.

You claimed it was poorly written (which, depends on your standards) and 'unreliable sources' (that were: rabble.ca, Press Progress, Buzzfeed, Vice, and the two direct links to her articles). I don't think those qualify as unreliable (the first two, you might not know of if you're not into Canadian politics, but they are more reliable than, say, Levy). You also seem to have erased the edits so much that they aren't even viewable on the history of the page (!?) so no-one else can look at whether it was poorly written or what the sources were.

I think this incident is very worthy of noting on Levy's page, particularly the timing of her two articles, and how they coincided with the presence of white supremacists at the hotel doing their own media attention-seeking.67.230.128.96 (talk) 15:30, 14 October 2018 (UTC)

Draft:Kris Brownlee

I believe that this article was rejected in error. The last time that this article was rejected in March, the reviewer said it was because it did not show the artist's chart-topping status. Now it does. This artist is currently on the top 50 charts on smoothjazz.com which is the number one source for all things smooth jazz, including chart status notability. Radiowave and Smooth jazz network are not blogs either. These are all real legit charts as either reported by "Nielsen Ratings" or by "The Gavin Report". There are musician's pages on Wikipedia that show far less credibility/notability, for example John Ellis(saxophonist). How did this article even go through? It does not meet the standards you claim. I kindly ask that you reconsider your decision. Thanks!Saxy61 (talk) 17:44, 16 October 2018 (UTC)

Thanks for sending me the WP:NMUSIC's and the WP:Record charts information. Very useful. By these definitions there are a lot of Wikipedia musician's pages, especially jazz artists' pages that need to be deleted. As they never have and never will reach this level of notability. Just sayin'. I will resubmit once this artist, Kris Brownlee charts on Billboard. Thanks! Saxy61 (talk) 03:25, 17 October 2018 (UTC)
