Cardano page

Hello, Re: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Cardano_(cryptocurrency_platform) I've been talking to people at Wikipedia for the past few weeks about the aggressive censorship of anything to do with Cardano/IOHK/Ada resulting in a hole in Wikipedia coverage. Please see Talk page at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Cryptocurrency. This argues that Cardano is more notable than most of the currencies listed at List of cryptocurrencies but is mentioned nowhere on Wikipedia. Please do not delete the page while it is worked on for valid citations. I believe this approach is supported, or at least accepted for now, by both :@David Gerard: and :@Џ: IOHKwriter (talk) 19:28, 8 February 2019 (UTC)

Except that both David Gerard and Џ have informed you that regardless of the "hole in Wikipedia coverage", that several other crypto articles have also been unable to make it past general sanctions. Why do we have those sanctions, you might ask? Because some users with a conflict of interest try to promote cryptos they work for in order to increase the value of said currency. David Gerard says as much on the talk page you mentioned, suggesting that you have a conflict of interest on this particular article since you are employed by IOHK. Bkissin (talk) 19:41, 8 February 2019 (UTC)

Hello Bkissin. I have made my potential conflict of interest clear and it has been guardedly accepted by David Gerard and Џ. This appears to be an occasionally accepted practice, as in the membership of the Cryptocurrency_task_force. It is obvious that - like many of the other non-crypto commercial topics covered on Wikipedia - investors may "try to promote cryptos they work for in order to increase the value of said currency" [put the name of the stock of any listed company on Wikipedia in that sentence; or their many products; or coin collectors or Sherlock Holmes ephemera - does Wikipedia really make that much difference?]. However, Wikipedia has pages on about 30 other cryptos while any mention at all of IOHK/Cardano/Ada is deleted within hours. Cardano/Ada is more notable than most of these other cryptos for several reasons: it is based on published theories and algorithms developed by academics with a large blockchain lab set up at Edinburgh with leading computer scientists and legal academics; these theories are tested by submission to academic conferences for peer review; it is based on proof-of-stake; it hovers between 5 and 12 on the list of top coins; its code base has been written from scratch; it is trying to tackle the issue of security using functional programming techniques and the innovative language Haskell; its two founders are building on their experience of launching Ethereum; IOHK has provided a wide range of tools and testing packages for developers and exchanges to write smart contracts. This strategy is innovative and worthy of note. Blockchain technologies such as Cardano are vying both to provide an alternative to the financial system, and be adopted by it. Some developing countries see it as a way of creating a mobile-phone-based banking system. The global derivatives standards body ISDA says: "Smart contracts could help revolutionize the derivatives market by creating much-needed efficiencies". Blockchain is a subject worthy of thorough coverage and Cardano is a notable development within that subject. IOHKwriter (talk) 10:59, 11 February 2019 (UTC)

2019 PDC Challenge Tour 3

Could I please of some advice on why my article 2019 PDC Challenge Tour 3 was declined and what I could do so that it is approved. The guidelines just confused me so I used other articles to help guide me. OrkneyLad1996 (talk) 21:05, 11 February 2019 (UTC)

Howdy OrkneyLad1996! I had a couple issues with the draft in its current form. First of all, I wasn't able to understand what the article was about without more WP:CONTEXT. I had no idea that it was about professional darts until I looked through your previous contributions. I think my biggest issue, however, is the lack of sources for the article. Usually we aim (pun not intended) for citations from three different reliable sources that are not related to the subject (so citing the PDC wouldn't count). That would show that it's notable. Now, we don't have a lot of Wikipedia policy on what darts games are notable. The closest we have is WP:SPORTSEVENT. That section brings up some interesting points that you may want to consider as you continue to work on this subject, mainly
  • Articles about notable games should have well-sourced prose, not merely a list of stats. Regular season games in professional and college leagues are not inherently notable.
  • For a games or series that is already covered as a subtopic in another article, consider developing the topic in the existing article first until it becomes clearer that a standalone article is warranted. Although a game or series may be notable, it may sometimes be better to present the topic in an existing article on a broader topic instead of creating a new standalone page.
I hope that helps a little bit. Make a few changes, do a little expansion and try again. I'll take a look and if I don't do anything, try with another reviewer! Bkissin (talk) 21:20, 11 February 2019 (UTC)
I have made changes that I feel meet the criteria, if it is declined again could you please tell what what else needs done. Should I also make the same changes to the PDC Challenge Tour 1 and 2 articles that I have created. Thank you for your efforts on helping me out. OrkneyLad1996 (talk) 21:58, 11 February 2019 (UTC)

Decline- City Express Money Transfer

@Bkissin I was doing this article under the supervision of SamHolt6. I don't know about you but the subject I've chosen is very notable in my country, Nepal. It falls under the top 3 remittance service provider in Nepal. I have neither exaggerated nor undermined about the subject. I have only re-written what the sources have said. Some of the sources that I've given is our top newspaper site. Please re-consider. Kindly suggests me what do I need to do in order to get it approved. (Your suraj (talk) 07:17, 13 February 2019 (UTC))

New to Wikipedia editing. Apologies if I should make this comment on the article and not on your talk page. You declined my article re: Cree People of Eeyou Istchee, saying it already existed here (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/East_Cree). However, this is not correct. That page is for the dialect of the Cree language known as East Cree and it describes the linguistics, morphology, phonology, etc of the language. Whereas the page I am proposing is an article on the ethnic/cultural group of people known as Cree People of Eeyou Istchee and would outline their history, their culture, etc. Similarly, consider this page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_people) versus this (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Irish_language). Have resubmitted. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Lashask (talkcontribs) 03:37, 14 February 2019 (UTC)

Request on 18:06:43, 16 February 2019 for assistance on AfC submission by Vmudunuru

Hello, Thank you for your feedback. I initially submitted the Wiki New page in Telugu Wikipedia. I am not so sure why is that sent to English version. I did the update again in Telugu Wikipedia and ready to go online. But I realized that there is a comment line about declining by Bkissin in Telugu Page and it said I should not remove that. I am now trying to do the same process, adding few more links to update the page, all in Telugu Wikipedia. This is the link: https://te.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E0%B0%B5%E0%B0%BE%E0%B0%A1%E0%B1%81%E0%B0%95%E0%B0%B0%E0%B0%BF:Vmudunuru/%E0%B0%AA%E0%B1%8D%E0%B0%B0%E0%B0%AF%E0%B1%8B%E0%B0%97%E0%B0%B6%E0%B0%BE%E0%B0%B2

The Hotel Lobby submission

Hey there! I was trying to update my page because it wasn't properly linked. The artist is The Hotel Lobby and they played the Wango Tango Village Stage in 2014 and 2015. The problem is that it was listed as Hotel Lobby and it went to a hotel lobby lol. The artist is actually called "The Hotel Lobby". I've attached two posters from each year 2014 and 2015 as proof they were a part of the show. Please let me know if you need anything else. Thank you. =)

Fails WP:NFOOTY

Hey, i'm new to wikipedia editing but on the 'NFOOTY' spefication u put on my article 'Jack Holland' it says playing in a match between two proffesional clubs however he has played for England C, i'm not sure if that counts, and also for Bromley, who are a proffesional club, so if you could clarify that thanks. I realised I submitted my article too early. Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nathan McAdam (talkcontribs) 22:02, 19 February 2019 (UTC)

Hello Nathan McAdam! Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia! Wikipedia considers these leagues to be professional leagues. Unfortunately, England C doesn't count. I know he played for Crystal Palace, but I believe that was on the youth squad. Don't worry about anything. It sounds like you are here to learn and contribute and not be a pain! :) If you are interested in working on articles about footballers, check out Wikipedia:WikiProject Football or User:Das osmnezz, who I know submits a lot of articles about footballers. Das osmnezz, do you want some help? Bkissin (talk) 22:10, 19 February 2019 (UTC)

Thanks, for the Canadian Premier League which starts in 2019 can i create articles for players in the squad of teams of that league that don't have articles. For example, Nathan Mavila of Cavalry F.C. who doesn't have a wikipedia page , can i create an article for him or do i have to wait until the season starts? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nathan McAdam (talkcontribs) 22:37, 19 February 2019 (UTC)

What I would say is wait until he plays a game in the league first, since the guidelines say he has to appear in a professional match to be notable. I also don't know if Wikipedia would consider the Canadian Premier League fully-professional, though I don't see why they wouldn't. That would be a subject to bring up at the WikiProject. Latvians and Baltic Germans ...

My article was just posted with a note saying the tone was not quite right. Can you give me some suggestions please. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Latvians_and_Baltic_Germans_in_Corner_Brook,_Newfoundland Baltinew (talk) 20:58, 8 February 2019 (UTC)Baltinew Feb. 8, 2019

The last section of the article reads like a commercial for Latvia and all the organizations involved. A wikipedia article should be less about writing an essay or telling a narrative to convince someone, but to convey the information. I would also check out Wikipedia:Writing better articles for more information. Don't get me wrong, I think this was pretty well-written, it just needs some clean-up. Bkissin (talk) 21:05, 8 February 2019 (UTC)

The last section is intended to place the people who came to Corner Brook in context with those who came to the rest of Canada. The CB group were isolated. The ones in the rest of Canada were supported by organizations -- examples listed -- who have published material about their history (linked to). I didn't intend to advertise for them: just point out that they provide support, something the ones in Corner Brook didn't have access to. Sorry it gave that impression. I could remove the links to the organizations but I thought they provide context and more information. Baltinew (talk) 21:23, 8 February 2019 (UTC)Baltinew Feb. 8, 2019

Don't worry about it too much, it's your first article. If you want to include that information in other articles, take a look at Latvian Canadians. That may also be a way to link your article with the rest of Wikipedia. It may also be good to add it to this history section for Corner Brook. Bkissin (talk) 21:27, 8 February 2019 (UTC)

I was going to add to the Corner Brook article and link to mine. I can do the same with the Latvian and Baltic German articles. But I want that flag off the top before I do. My friend is also submitting an article to a Newfoundland History journal. When that is published I'll link to it. Thanks for your help. Baltinew (talk) 21:42, 8 February 2019 (UTC)

I am hoping you change the class of this article up from start class. It is well written and organized, has ample references and links to related resources in Wikipedia. It has had about 1,500 hits since it was posted. I added links to it from a couple of other articles in Wikipedia. Fingers crossed.Baltinew (talk) 20:22, 20 February 2019 (UTC)

A pair of questions from the beginner

Thanks for your revision of my draft about Boris Turzhansky! I'm planning to improve it, so I've got a couple of questions. At first, is it possible to cite archive documents as proofs and how it is done in en-wiki? At second, is it possible to use illustrations, downloaded in ru-wiki, here? And how (if the picture wasn't uploaded to Commons)? Please excuse me if I've mistaken in something. EX690662 (talk) 22:01, 22 February 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Mohammadreza Zand

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Mohammadreza Zand requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. — Fajr18 (Talk) 10:38, 25 February 2019 (UTC)

draft page on Miroslaw Romanowski rejected

Hello,

You recently rejected my proposed page on Miroslaw Romanowski, for lack of sources. Unfortunately there are no sources for his biography other than my interview of his daughter, Sylvie Romanowski. Nevertheless, I believe that Miroslaw Romanowski should have a Wikipedia page because there is an important Canadian science medal that is named in his honour. The medal itself has a Wikipedia page, but there is no information there about Romanowski himself. None of the material in the article I wrote is controversial at all, and so I suggest that it is still appropriate to put up a Wikipedia page about Mirosalaw Romanowski, even though no-one else has written about him and therefore there are no sources to cite.

I would be very grateful to hear your response to this.

Many thanks, Lenore Fahrig Lenorefahrig (talk) 20:08, 25 February 2019 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Peyman Adibi

Hello, Bkissin,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Hzh and it's nice to meet you :-)

I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Peyman Adibi, for deletion because it's a biography of a living person that lacks references. To prevent the deletion, please add a reference to the article.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Hzh}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Message delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Hzh (talk) 13:28, 6 March 2019 (UTC)

Thank you Hzh. It probably should be deleted. I didn't create the article, I just moved it from the user's sandbox. The user, who is the subject of the article, was the one who brought it from draftspace into mainspace. The article, on top of being unsourced, is also a blatant conflict of interest and a WP:AUTOBIO and could probably be Speedy Deleted under G11. Bkissin (talk) 15:02, 6 March 2019 (UTC)

Elad I. Levy Draft

Hi Bkissin

You recently said that the draft for Elad I. Levy had a duplicate titled 'Elad Levy" and to save time that one would be reviewed. I recently got a comment on feburary 4th by another reviewer and made the edits to "Elad I. Levy" based on those comments as that reviewer did agree that Levy was a notable person but some edits needed to be made so i did those edits on the one that you reviewed. I dont know how to delete the one titled "Elad Levy" (though i did make the edits to that one now as well incase that gets reviewed as well. But if you could please reconsider this article submission for Levy, as i did try to follow all reviewer recommendations from making it concise and adding in all relevant reference to this page. I would greatly appreciate it! thank you for your time and help with this project!! Ashamkhan123 (talk) 01:27, 27 March 2019 (UTC)

Hey Bkissin,

Thanks for the feedback. Had a quick question regarding your most recent comment on my article submission. You mentioned that an article already exist and I should merge the two article and add additional content there. I'm actually trying to redirect all of those articles and search instances to the article I am creating. Would you recommend I merge and then redirect? All kinds of new at this so appreciate any advice you can offer.

Hello Lou Renwick! So, let me address a couple things you have mentioned here. First, you don't have to create a new draft article to add information to an existing Wikipedia article. However, any information you do add to Wikipedia has to be backed up and verified by reliable sources. If you have information that contradicts the information from the National Trust, you can add it as long as you have information that can be proven by someone other than yourself. Like, if I went online to look up the information you have, would I be able to find it in a reliable source? Bkissin (talk) 15:38, 2 April 2019 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Bernard Salick

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:Bernard Salick, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

SITH (talk) 12:41, 30 April 2019 (UTC)

David J. Maloney

Hello Bkissin,

I discover that a page created by me on David J. Maloney was rejected with any good reason, though I will need your assistance on getting the page to approve and also meet up with the Wikipedia community standards. [not signed, but from Webplanet12345]

Maloney created the article. Webplanet added to it and submitted it to AfC. You rejected it. I trimmed the draft, but 100% agree with your decision that the article is not Wikipedia-worthy. David notMD (talk) 21:09, 2 May 2019 (UTC)
Additionally, BrownHairedGirl put the article on extended confirmed protection, so admins are wary of this particular case of WP:PROMO Bkissin (talk) 21:43, 2 May 2019 (UTC)
I put it on ECP move protection, to stop newbies moving it to mainspace after it failed AFC.
Autobiographical promos like this are a high-volume nuisance. 'Webplanet's move of Draft:David J. Maloney to mainspace after a failed AFC was bad enough, but their move of it to the title David J. Maloney (suffragette) was a case of either severe WP:CIR issues, or of gaming the system. --BrownHairedGirl (talk) • (contribs) 09:24, 3 May 2019 (UTC)

Notifications

Greetings. I've noticed you don't seem to provide notifications when you decline AfC submissions. Is that an oversight? FloridaArmy (talk) 18:37, 3 May 2019 (UTC)

Nope, it's so I don't have editors reaching out to me multiple times when they have drafts that will never be accepted. Yours are an exception. If I haven't reviewed it, it means I had a difficult time making a determination on notability. Otherwise, the canned responses are usually enough to explain why a draft wasn't accepted. Bkissin (talk) 18:43, 3 May 2019 (UTC)

Draft:Cooper Barnes (actor)

It's irreverent now, as the draft's creator has been blocked as a sockpuppet, but your decline of the above was for an erroneous reason. For what it's worth I would have declined it for notability, but you declined it as "an article on the subject already exists." It doesn't. There is a redirect by that title, and creating an actual article to replace a redirect is a perfectly acceptable use of AfC and draftspace. Just a heads up. Crip (disability pride)

Hi Bkissin, thank you so much for reviewing my draft so quickly! (This is in response to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Thecalloutcrips. I'm still getting used to Wikipedia, so I hope it's all right to respond to you on your talk page.)

The original and main reason I created a Wikipedia account, and made enough edits to earn draft creation privileges, was to create an article on "Crip" as it relates to disability pride. Thank you for commenting that you found it interesting! The rationale you gave for declining the draft was this:

> There is no differentiation in articles between negative uses of words like F*ggot or the N-word and their re-use as a matter of pride within the oppressed community.

What about "queer"? I think that "crip" is a different case from the ones you mentioned, for a few reasons:

  1. "Crip" is being used in major cultural movements (e.g. #CripTheVote) that expand beyond simply being colloquial insider terminology within oppressed group. The intent of the article is to be more than a definition. For example, we planned to expand on other cultural usages of Crip, such as major events like Cripfest (https://www.metro.us/new-york/disabled-new-yorkers-reclaim-the-c-word-cripfest-is-coming-to-brooklyn/zsJogu---66pBuA9ciVxKc, https://cripfest.splashthat.com/).
  2. "Crip" is not quite in the same category as F*ggot and the N-word. The word that would be in that category is "cripple". "Crip" isn't the same construction or meaning (or the same level of offensiveness, as evidenced by the fact that we can write it without asterisks).
  3. "Crip" is more akin to "queer", which does have its own page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Queer) that is separate from pages like sexual orientation (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sexual_orientation). Like "queer", it should have its own page.
  4. "Crip" in the sense of disability pride faces extremely low recognition, far lower than any of the other terms you or I have mentioned. On top of that, all searches for it are overwhelmed by results for the other major usage, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/crips). Recognition, even in the form of a simple Wikipedia article, would go a long way towards validating the disability community.

You also suggested this:

> I think this may be better served as a section within the article on Cripple.

I did consider this, but this does not solve #3 and #4 above. Perhaps a compromise would be to change the title of the Cripple article to "Crip"? However, as I mentioned, "cripple" and "crip" are not interchangeable. Do you think it would be preferable to change the title of the existing article, or to create a new article, given the points above?

Thank you again!

Thecalloutcrips (talk) 04:47, 30 April 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for reaching out Thecalloutcrips. There are a few different things here that I'll continue to discuss.
  1. With your example of Queer, I'll note that the page encompasses both the pejorative and reclaimed use of the term, similar to the ways that the other two terms I mentioned do. That's why I thought that perhaps being merged into the existing article would be helpful. I certainly understand that "cripple" and "crip" are not interchangeable, but the latter has roots in the former.
  2. The other aspect is about what Wikipedia is for. Many would argue that as an impartial encyclopedia, it is not our place to right great wrongs of society through our work. The article for the street gang is going to be searched more and more popular at this point than the reclaimed term. If the article was accepted, we would have to disambiguate it from the article about the street gang, so it would probably be titled something like Crip (disability term).

Legacypac, Robert McClenon, Praxidicae, StraussInTheHouse, AngusWOOF do any of you have opinions on this that differ from mine? I'm happy to defer to y'all, and I'd love for Thecalloutcrips to get some alternative perspectives here. Bkissin (talk) 13:20, 30 April 2019 (UTC)

User:Bkissin - First, the primary usage should be the street gang, with a hatnote either to the alternate use or to the disambiguation page, if there are more than two meanings. I haven't reviewed the draft in detail, but this may be (and I am not saying is) a case where the term calls for a brief article. Second, however, you pinged Legacypac, so you may not be aware of the discussion at WP:AN and might want to contribute. Legacypac has been blocked for a personal attack resulting from deletion discussions, and there is discussion of how long to block and when to unblock. Robert McClenon (talk) 18:06, 30 April 2019 (UTC)

Great points, thank you, Bkissin! "Crip (disability term)" would be awesome. I completely understand about Wikipedia not being a place to right great wrongs. I tried to write the article as impartially as possible, using legitimate sources (I can also add information about the pejorative use, as well as any contemporary controversies). I genuinely see the need for the information I added—along with a title that says "Crip", not "cripple"—being not for the purpose of righting a great wrong, but serving an encyclopedic information need that is not currently being served anywhere else. Looking forward to hearing whether others think it's best to edit the title of the existing page to "Crip (disability term)" or create a new page with that title. Thank you!

Thecalloutcrips (talk) 15:21, 30 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi Bkissin, Robert McClenon, Praxidicae, StraussInTheHouse, AngusWOOF, the Obamas recently signed onto a "Crip Camp" documentary on Netflix: https://www.forbes.com/sites/sarahkim/2019/05/02/crip-camp-obamas-netflix/#7896153d1b39. Not having a Wikipedia page entitled "Crip (disability term)" is a dearth. Should I edit the title of the existing "Cripple" page to "Crip (disability term)", or can you allow the creation of a new page with that title?

Thank you! Thecalloutcrips (talk) 04:03, 5 May 2019 (UTC)

haven't fully formed my thoughts on this yet (and I guess I have a general COI) but the forbes piece you linked is a contributor piece and not from their editorial staff. Praxidicae (talk) 18:21, 5 May 2019 (UTC)

Hi Praxidicae, thank you so much for your quick reply! Apologies, perhaps this source is better.

Crip Camp documentary aside, Bkissin's original rationale for declining the new Crip page was this:

> There is no differentiation in articles between negative uses of words like F*ggot or the N-word and their re-use as a matter of pride within the oppressed community.

Not only is queer its own page, so is the N-word! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nigga

Does this provide sufficient justification? If not, please tell me what else my group and I need to do to get a "Crip (disability term)" page created. Thank you! Thecalloutcrips (talk) 18:38, 5 May 2019 (UTC)

Hi Bkissin, thank you for giving the article a chance! We truly appreciate it. Thecalloutcrips (talk) 04:40, 7 May 2019 (UTC)

Good Morning, I was quite happy to receive your note recently on the submission of my draft into a real Wikipedia page. I appreciated the editors advice and suggestions along the way to make the McPherson Globe Refiners a worthy entry. Thanks again. Sf360mk (talk) 13:25, 9 May 2019 (UTC)

Pages in 'Renaissance fair performers' category that should be deleted

Hello. You've said you're going to get rid of the Wikipedia pages of Twig the Fairy and Tudor Tarts. That's a good start, but here are others that, according to wikipedias own standards, should not have their own pages, and should be deleted:

1) Jolly Rogers, only 1 reference and its their own web site.

2) Flaming Idiots, only 3 references, and all in Texas.

3) poxy boggards, only 2 references.

4) albanach, ZERO references.

5) brobdingnagian bards, only 1 reference, and its their own website.

6) eric Forsberg, only 1 reference, and it's his mother's obituary, saying he's her son.

7) marc gunn, only 1 reference, and its his own website.

8) known world players, ZERO references.

9) steve macdonald, only 3 references, 1 of which is his own website and 1 of which is his own blog.

10) pirate shantyman and his bonnie lass, only 3 references, 1 of which is a youtube video, 1 of which is just a picture of them (maybe, who knows), and 1 of which is their own website.

11) three quarter ale, ZERO references.

If what I submitted for Arthur Greenleaf Holmes doesn't qualify with FOUR references, NONE of the 11 on the above list qualify either. On the other hand, if they're allowed to stay, Arthur Greenleaf Holmes should get his own page also, since I provided more references for him than any of the no-names on this list have. Thank you for your time. Pcourteau123 (talk) 20:02, 11 May 2019 (UTC)

I already submitted Three Quarter Ale, Jolly Rogers and Known World Players for deletion. I submitted Pirate Shantyman and his Bonnie Lass for deletion today. Eric Forsberg, as a director for The Asylum, may have a credible case for notability, so I added more sources (though none of them are great). Sources were added to Albannach as well. Marc Gunn, Poxy Boggards and Brobdingnagian Bards may also have a case for notability for a variety of mainstream reasons. If you are unhappy with my pace of deletion, you are more than welcome to nominate them for deletion yourself. Bkissin (talk) 19:16, 12 May 2019 (UTC)

History of Rand Flem-Ath page-a version was recently rejected by you

It’s come to my attention that a long-time editor on Wikipedia is once again attempting to manipulate the site in order to fulfill a personal vendetta against me. The first attempt to do this happened after he had been forced to apologize to me (in writing, by the university that employs him) for a vicious online ad hominin attack. In 2012, he used one of his own students as an unwitting proxy - that’s if the student even existed - to create the original page, “Rand Flem-Ath”. It was full of inaccuracies and outright lies. (It’s safe to say that when Wiki Education was introduced, they did not envision that it would be abused in this way.) When Wikipedia Administrators became aware of the circumstances of the page’s creation, they removed it - everything that he had written - and substituted the neutral POV, minimal version. He’s now attempting to succeed where he failed before, by again putting my name on a ‘wish list’ of articles he wants students to create or edit. Perhaps he thinks that enough time has gone by that this new effort won’t be noticed. Or he believes that his academic persona and long familiarity with Wikipedia will give him a free pass. So that, despite his demonstrated personal animosity towards the BLP subject, and his history with that page, that he will be free to edit it with impunity or encourage students (over whom he has a position of great authority) to edit it. An example of one slight-of-hand manipulation is exhibited here: “The role of the work of the Flem-Aths should also be considered in books about Atlantis by [name redacted] and others. Together, these may make the case for notability that is required by Wikipedia.” This is the most sickening, cynical aspect of this situation. The person he is trying to bring onto my page is associated with Nazis. This teacher is brazenly trying to convince the student (a person reliant on him for a grade) to set up a ‘guilt by association’ status for me on one of the most popular websites on the planet, simply because I offend him by writing about Atlantis, and he can’t forget the fact that he went so far over the line in attacking me that an apology had to be issued. This trivialization of the horror and terrible suffering inflicted by the Nazis - just so that a personal grudge can be satisfied – is contemptible. An Administrator - Bkissin - has rejected – for other reasons – I don’t think s/he is aware of this history - the most recent attempt to hi-jack the page. And now – May 15 - this instructor, who has had years of experience editing Wikipedia – has assumed a hands-on approach with the page to try and ensure its acceptance. I realize that an Administrator’s workload is heavy – but I would ask that someone keep a fresh eye on the page with my name on it. The first note on my Talk page was placed there in anticipation of exactly the situation that has now arisen. It’s regrettable that my concern has turned out to be justified. Please be alert for this. Flem-AthRand (talk) 19:37, 17 May 2019 (UTC)

The vicious online ad hominem attack was a negative Amazon review in 2001. Hoopes used the quote "“There’s a sucker born every minute” and said that a lot of suckers would buy the book. Hardly vicious. Most of the rest is simply not true either, but you don't need the detail (available if you want). What is unpleasant is this author writing on his article's talk page that the Professor was discipline, which is simply not true. I can see that you rejected the draft, here's what Hoopes had to say about it. User talk:Indianasorell/sandbox/Rand and Rose Flem-Ath The Nazi bit is weird, it refers to Frank Joseph, an ex-Nazi and now writing pseudoarchaeology and whose has had his work included along with Flem-Ath's in a book.[1] I'm surprised that Flem-Ath allowed that if he feels so strongly(and I don't blame him for the feeling, only for suggesting mentioning Joseph is an attempt to link him with Nazis). The Discarded band

I made the changes to a more neutral text and included article links on the band to give a third party verification to the information provided. And there fore have resubmitted for approval as a topic. Please advise

(by talk reader) @Joel Wasson: The subject fails WP:NBAND: no Grammy, not on the charts, no gold records, not even two albums on a major label. You claim they've toured extensively around Southern Ontario. Your sources are indie-punk websites. We need qualifying newspaper coverage per WP:SIGCOV. You're trying to promote this band so you should be prepared to take no as an answer. Chris Troutman (talk) 20:16, 21 May 2019 (UTC)

Thanks Chris- but there are a number of Canadian bands that have no "Grammy- gold records- major label releases that are on Wikapedia- Socan magazine is cited here- which is the Society of Canadian music publishing- actual magazine and quite known in the music industry in Canada (where all music artist register their music) There has also been coverage in local magazines- In the hills and Orangeville Banner paper.

So the precedence has not been only million selling - gold record acts on major labels. So here is a band that has recorded and released three albums- and has played a number of shows- over 60 in the past two years and a bit.

The leader of the band is a member of Fifth Column cited internationally as a top seminal band of female punk influencers (no major labels or million sellers either)

So what exactly is the criteria you are looking for - notable musical artist or commerce only??

Kindly clarify thanks

Joel

I'm trying to create a page for a band that creates, records, releases music and actively tours- I did not promote anything further than artistically this is what they have accomplished so far and the history there of. There is no go buy the album but who they have worked with and what they have done. Is this not the idea of the information behind this site??

Looking for guidance here- but at the end of the day you can reject it when I can site numerous example of this is not the criteria used when recording artistic projects.

Thanks

Hi, of course Criminal Party have the following criteria: * Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the musician or ensemble itself.

This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, online versions of print media, and television documentaries[note 2] except for the following:
Any reprints of press releases, other publications where the musician or ensemble talks about themselves, and all advertising that mentions the musician or ensemble, including manufacturers' advertising.[note 3]
Works consisting merely of trivial coverage, such as articles that simply report performance dates, release information or track listings, or the publications of contact and booking details in directories.
Articles in a school or university newspaper (or similar), in most cases.

Hi Bkissin, could you please explain what needs to be done on the Diamond Diva Princess page for publication. Others with less notability and references have been approved pages on Wikipedia. Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:XTMontana/sandbox/Canada

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Draft:XTMontana/sandbox/Canada requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.britannica.com/place/Canada. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

Cabayi (talk) 17:04, 4 June 2019 (UTC)

Criminal Party page

Hi, I read you wrote about concern WP:42 In the Criminal Page's I attached aome links about blog and internet magazines talked about Crimibnal Party. I can't add others because for ex. Maximum r'n'r is just paper and they haven't a internet page where you could watch the article. So, I understand what I need to add more. Thanks

Fab1966, if this is a question, please phrase it like one. You wrote "I understand"; this is unlikely to cause a response. ~ ToBeFree (talk) 16:01, 4 June 2019 (UTC)
Hello Fab1966 (talk · contribs). One of the biggest hurdles that new editors face when they want to create an article on Wikipedia is the topic of Notability. Because Wikipedia likes to think of itself as a important encyclopedia, not every topic or every person needs an article. There are certain guidelines that have to be met to be considered for a Wikipedia article. Take Criminal Party for instance. There are so many bands and musical artists out there that want to have Wikipedia articles to help promote them that if Wikipedia accepted them all, we wouldn't have enough space for articles on important topics. That's why the users of Wikipedia have developed these guidelines to determine if a Musician or artist is notable enough for the encyclopedia.

According to Wikipedia:Notability (music): Musicians or ensembles (this category includes bands, singers, rappers, orchestras, DJs, musical theatre groups, instrumentalists, etc.) may be notable if they meet at least one of the following criteria.

  • Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the musician or ensemble itself.
  • Has had a single or album on any country's national music chart.
  • Has had a record certified gold or higher in at least one country.
  • Has been placed in rotation nationally by a major radio or music television network.
  • Has been a featured subject of a substantial broadcast segment across a national radio or TV network.

Has Criminal Party done any of those things? If so, add the information to the article. Otherwise, I wish him the best of luck, and when he makes it big, we can re-evaluate the article. Thanks for asking! — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bkissin (talkcontribs) 17:37, 4 June 2019 (UTC)

Infact, I added some links. We have more links of course, the others are in italian. Criminal party's appear to some journal as maximum rock'n'roll and books too, but of course they are just paper and not on web. So, please tell me, about the first criteria, what I need to add more. Thanks

Marlborough Mound AFC Decline

Hi Bkissin,

I am messaging due to the decline judgment made on my AFC wanting to discuss if it was possible to reassess your decision. I am a digital writing student at university and believe that there is a limited overlap of sources between my draft article for the Marlborough Mound and Marlborough Castle for the former to warrant its own article. Additionally, a user on the Wikiproject my page would eventually belong to, Wikiproject Wiltshire, had the following to say:

The information you have found will make a good addition to the encyclopedia. I support creating the Marlborough Mound article, and at the same time reducing the scope of Marlborough Castle to cover the 11th to 14th centuries, with the description of the site before & after the castle reduced to summaries. All three articles – Castle, Mound and Marlborough College — should have links to each other. -- Wire723 (talk) 13:25, 1 June 2019 (UTC)

I would be happy to action the above recommendations if that was what it took to have my article approved to the mainspace. Johnphantom2643 (talk) 01:52, 9 June 2019 (UTC)

Remember that paid editors are never interested in getting a neutral version of an article accepted. Their whole objective is to get a non-neutral version accepted. If a neutral version does finally get accepted, it is not really a success on their part. So it is necessary to be very careful in reviewing the work of a paid editor. Robert McClenon (talk) 14:52, 17 June 2019 (UTC)

(by talk reader) I was a paid editor interested in a neutral version. I think we should bifurcate our response to those that are Wikipedians first trying to earn money second versus those that are paid editors first just getting money. I will agree that anyone paying for an article doesn't want neutral; they want puffery. Chris Troutman (talk) 15:00, 17 June 2019 (UTC)
I'm inclined to agree with both of you. Paid editors are WP:NOTHERE to get anything other than the best version for their client. However, there are some topics that are notable but have the unfortunate "Scarlet A" of being written by a paid editor. We shouldn't throw out the baby with the bath-water and disregard drafts on notable topics that need work in the same way we would blatant UPE cases. Bkissin (talk) 15:11, 17 June 2019 (UTC)

I noticed when I clicked on your message that my article was graded and accepted that I was linked to an old draft from June 16, when I first changed the name of my article. It looks fixed now. Was that the one that you reviewed?

Umm... I'm not sure! I followed the breadcrumbs to the 1721 Boston smallpox epidemic page and accepted the one I could find. If there is a more recent draft, we can fix. Bkissin (talk) 15:13, 19 June 2019 (UTC)

Here is the most recent draft before submission was accepted: 1721 Boston smallpox outbreak.

OK, so it does look like I chose the correct one then. Bkissin (talk) 15:25, 19 June 2019 (UTC)

You couldn't have if you were linked to "1721 Boston smallpox epidemic" instead of when I renamed it again to "1721 Boston smallpox outbreak." Can you please check one more time?

I looked through my contributions, and 1721 Boston smallpox outbreak is the one that I accepted. Bkissin (talk) 15:45, 19 June 2019 (UTC)
Additionally, Draft:Boston Smallpox Epidemic of 1721 is still in draftspace. Bkissin (talk) 15:47, 19 June 2019 (UTC)
And you were the one who moved 1721 Boston smallpox epidemic to 1721 Boston smallpox outbreak on that same page! Everything is fine! Bkissin (talk) 15:49, 19 June 2019 (UTC)
