saw you were the reviewer for AfC on Brooke_Knight...and that you noted the sources were unreliable. One is a newspaper, another a site for historical statistics on players, and one was the MLB itself. Can you please elaborate on why these are unreliable? thanks so much! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.117.73.10 (talk) 17:02, 24 April 2012 (UTC)
The Adoption program
I just wanted to say your work with new editors is a breath of fresh air. I've never looked at the program knowing I wouldn't have the ability to produce a structered program. I looked through WheresTristan request for FileMover and found your program and WheresTristan's exam, very impressive. I needed a little "Shot in the arm" thank you for all you do. If you bothered to look into the history it is User:CapMan07008 aka "The Terminator" ? that is harassing and vandalizing. I understand he is new to wikipedia but if he continues to harass/vandalize he will be reported/blocked from editing. Hopefully he refrains from continuously posting on my talk page. Thank you. UrbanNerd (talk) 03:12, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- Are you kidding me? How is this harassment/vandalism, and how ISN'T this harassment? Please dont accuse others of harassment when YOU were the one making gross personal attacks. Bmusician 06:30, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- I may have lost my cool slightly after a completely clueless editor left 3 or 4 moronic messages on my talk page. How many times can you leave the same message before it's considered vandalism. Hopefully that's the last of it. UrbanNerd (talk) 09:49, 25 April 2012 (UTC)
- Legitimate comments (comments that do not contravene established policy) are not vandalism. No one cares if the comments were "moronic" in your opinion, the comments were legit, were not personal attacks, and etc. Name calling the user, however, is undoubtedly a personal attack. Best. adoption
I am not sure if I want to take you up on your adoption offer, which was very kind of you to make, BTW. You appear to have a strong interest in vandalism and other content issues, which is a plus to me. However, I am interested in editing mostly place articles, either in Indiana or Michigan (Maybe Idaho & Oregon, too. Kinda new out west) and articles relating to NRHP. I like to write from a place of personal knowledge and then research to prove what I know. Your school looks great. It is obvious you have put a lot of work into it. Another interest of mine is to mentor as you do. I am kinda impressed that you feel competent to mentor after only a year "Wiki-ing". As you may have noticed, I have taken to giving a few little hints to other noobs already, even though I too am a noob. Your guidance in helping others will probably be needed. If you still think we'd be a good fit, let me know. Gtwfan52 (talk) 19:55, 24 April 2012 (UTC)

- The thing that Bmusician and I are doing also makes those new comers learn about wiki. And experience is the best friend. I'd like to advise you Rsrikanth05 that please go through the complete process that Bumsician has kept for editors that he has adopted. It doesn't only consist of exam my friend. Be sure before you comment. Because if you continue commenting hastily like this, then it can be considered that you are discouraging people from doing something good. Thanks Yasht101 09:55, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
- This is not an exam hall, or a school where we have to certify that one is fit to edit or not. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 09:37, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
- Sorry to butt in here: BMusician has exams for one purpose Rsrikanth05; To help these new editors get used to the real Wikipedia world out here, so it doesn't give a wrong impression about editors. If BMusician was giving 'wrong impressions', he'd be feeding them wrong information which I do not clearly and evidently see. His adoption program also inspires me to start up one soon, and I hope BMusician's RFA will look sparkling with this thing. Exams and tests do not distinguish the capabilities of an editor here on Wikipedia, and many editors on Wikipedia, especially those who are new, are unfamiliar with the policies and all and that's why I believe exams will help these new editors get used to them, and I'm guessing BMusician may have the same point. Rsrikanth05, If you think BMusician is riddling them with misinformation and creating a 'wrong impression', then don't create an adoption program. I am assuming that you are welcoming suggestions to BMusician, but note that if you continue to retaliate with difference of opinion, it only invites conflict. P.S, BMusician, I am the editor Soviet King, but I have changed my username to Khvalamde. Khvalamde : Holla at me 09:58, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
- The adoption program is different. It helps in guiding newbies. Giving tests doesn't seem the same. Does it? --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 10:22, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
- Also, what retaliate and conflict are you talking about? I have a high opinion of Bmusician's edits. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 10:25, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
My school only features one exam: it's taken only after the adoptee shows that they are ready to graduate from the school. They would not be "new users" they would have already completed all required assignments: each assignment features a "mini-test" which includes questions related to the topic of the assignment. My school is meant to guide new users: what made you think it was not created for that purpose? Please feel to take a look at Worm that Turned's and Hersfold's adoption HQ's: my school was derived from them. Best, Bmusician 10:37, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
- Lets make it clear that from where did srikanth ended up giving this suggestion (My response is from Soviet king leaving a message on my talk page regarding problem with srikanth)
- I never had any intentions to badger him. I just told what I thought and his reaction has really brought me down:
- Few days ago, I and srikanth had a argument on an RfA.
- Since then srikanth have been commenting on each and every post of mine, either on my talk page or others with intentions to critize me with little exaggeration. I m open to it, but if an editor does this only to one particular editor and that also after having a falling out with them, then it is not a good thing to do.
- He left a message on my talk page which I don't think was in good faith: You can't have an exam for Wikipedia editing. That's the silliest thing ever. -
- So to clarify that is he really intending to haress me, I left a note on his tp and I was really shocked with his reply: You were the one doing that. Now I do it, it's irritating you?
- I told him that other editor friends of mine also have this exams.
- And so he came here and left this message.
- I don't know that when did i haress him, because I had just one argument with him in my wikilife and since he has been intentionally commenting on my works,
- If an editor is here for 6 years and still gets so much heated up just because of an argument and wants to badger the other editor with intentions of making them realize of a mistake that they haven't made or to just let them know that they were irritating him by saying the right thing, is not at all a thing that a responsible and good editor does.
- I know that srikanth is little disturbed since few days due to personal life issues, so it is never late to ask for help as I stated in my text message to you @srikanth.
- Thank you. Yasht101 10:44, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
- My talk can be irrelevent but it was to clarify the doubts and response to soviet kings message on my talk page. Yasht101 10:46, 26 April 2012 (UTC)
- Alright Yasht. Clearly the messages the editor has been giving to you are definetly not civil, and it's rude. I know that everyone has their bad days and it can certaintly come to the point where it just starts to irritate some people or a larger group of people. Now let's put this off for now, to avoid a battleground situation. Khvalamde : Holla at me 10:53, 26 April 2012 (UTC)

To adopt, yes or no?
I'm referring to your adoption of Hghyux.
Why do you give your prospective "adoptee" a second chance (as you did in your recent post on Hghyux's talk page a few hours ago User_talk:Hghyux&Follow-up questions)?
In my opinion Hghyux is seriously challenged when it comes to attention to detail. This can be borne out in the way s/he handled the transfer of the Tej_Gyan_Foundation article from my user space to main wiki space. Firstly s/he declined the article for "lack of notable references" (in my parlance) (see User_talk:Hghyux&TejGyan_Foundation). When I pointed out that this was NOT the case, s/he had the gall to declare that "You did a good job fixing that", referring to me, and passing the article. Well, I hadn't touched the article (as you will see from the edit history) and I take huge exception to what, if you think deeply enough about it, is FRAUD, pure and simple.
(Sorry, I'm not able to make the links drill down to a specific section in the talk page.)
Cneeds (talk) 12:35, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
- The answer is beyond obvious - if Hghyux (who is a wonderful user and adoptee IMO) needs development in an area, I will and must help - that is something that is required in a mentor, such as myself. Given your overly harsh comments against Hgh, I suspect you already have known the answer to your own question. Bmusician 14:44, 28 April 2012 (UTC)

Removal of "parent" links
Hi. Regarding your recent edits to Rami Bar-Niv, I removed a couple of the links that you added. For example, I changed your "Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23" to be "Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 23". The rationale is:
- "Mozart" is a parent (or less-specific) link than "Piano Concerto No. 23" and therefore following the Mozart link is far less likely to help deepen the understanding (to the reader) of the Rami Bar-Niv article.
- A link to "Mozart" will be available very quickly at the "Piano Concerto No. 23" article.
- Removing the "Mozart" link in the Rami Bar-Niv article helps to put more emphasis on the links that the article's editors feel really do help to deepen the understanding of the article's (or section's) main topic.
Anyhow, just some food for thought. If you want to read more about the principles (and policies) involved in all this, have a glance at WP:MOSLINK#What generally should not be linked when you have time. Cheers.

Adoption- Other Assignments
Hi, is it alright if I can do the other assignments and questions that I skipped? I just wanted to familiarise myself with some of the other aspects of Wikipedia? Cheers,Willdude123|Ƹ21ɘbublliW (talk) 14:38, 5 May 2012 (UTC)

New Pages update
Hey Bmusician/Archive 7 :). A quick update on how things are going with the New Page Triage/New Pages Feed project. As the enwiki page notes, the project is divided into two chunks: the "list view" (essentially an updated version of Special:NewPages) and the "article view", a view you'll be presented with when you open up individual articles that contains a toolbar with lots of options to interact with the page - patrolling it, adding maintenance tags, nominating it for deletion, so on.
On the list view front, we're pretty much done! We tried deploying it to enwiki, in line with our Engagement Strategy on Wednesday, but ran into bugs and had to reschedule - the same happened on Thursday :(. We've queued a new deployment for Monday PST, and hopefully that one will go better. If it does, the software will be ready to play around with and test by the following week! :).
On the article view front, the developers are doing some fantastic work designing the toolbar, which we're calling the "curation bar"; you can see a mockup here. A stripped-down version of this should be ready to deploy fairly soon after the list view is; I'm afraid I don't have precise dates yet. When I have more info, or can unleash everyone to test the list view, I'll let you know :). As always, any questions to the talkpage for the project or mine. Thanks! Speedy deletion declined: Model 907 palmRAD Survey Meter
Hello Bmusician. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Model 907 palmRAD Survey Meter, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: A7 does not apply to products. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 04:51, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

Indef blocked users
Hi Bmusician. I'm sure you think you are helping out by replacing the content of indefinitely blocked users pages with {{indef}} - but you are not. In fact you are causing issues by doing it. The template documentation explains it is typically placed by the blocking admin, and even then when he or she feels it necessary. The problem comes when an editor has been blocked for a while. If they have forgotten about Wikipedia it can serve to remind them (indeed if you do it on their talk page it might even email them!) and for some editors it can be seen as rubbing thier face in the block. When the user has already socked to evade the block, all that is doing as asking for trouble. I encourage very rare usage of the template, and only by the admin at the time of the block.
It's been mentioned at your editor review a number of times - so please, do not edit blocked users pages. WormTT · (talk) 07:11, 7 May 2012 (UTC)
- Okay, got it. →Bmusician 10:41, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

I like the chess game. Now that is, to use my 80s nomenclature, wicked cool. FYI... I saw your prodded Aras' article. Creating editor removed the prod and I just did an AfD. Bgwhite (talk) 05:36, 8 May 2012 (UTC)

I have been here for a while and want to improve myself. Though I try my best to do the right thing, I may do something wrong. As you have seen me work, can you please leave me a review as I want to know where I stand so far and what should I improve to be a good editor. Your opinion has always been valuable and your review can help. Thanks :) Yasht101 08:18, 9 May 2012 (UTC)

Adoption
One day I was reading an article and discovered about the edit button. When I clicked it, something different then what we read came. I made few changes and someone left a message on my IP. So, I started reading that how this all works and after 1 week of preparing I created this account. I also saw your name in a page about adoption. You have stated the areas in which you work and the areas are more compared to others. So I think that you can be the best person who can teach me about wikipedia properly. Can you adopt me? — Preceding unsigned comment added by TheSpecialUser (talk • contribs) 10:36, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
My first assignment.
I have gone through all that which you gave me. I opened each and every link and completed it. Is there anything else that I have to do regarding it? TheSpecialUser (talk) 13:32, 10 May 2012 (UTC)
I have few questions also. I see that there is "My watchlist" and I cannot understand what is it? And how do you and other editors make your userpages with all those things? And one last thing, how do you do anti-vandal works? TheSpecialUser (talk) 13:38, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

First Assignment
That was little tough but finished it in the end. Thanks for taking time :) TheSpecialUser (talk) 08:04, 11 May 2012 (UTC) How did I do? TheSpecialUser (talk) 08:05, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
- The second assignment was really easy as I read 80% of that things before when I started editing. I think that I m ready for the test, so can I give it? TheSpecialUser (talk) 09:30, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
- I finished the second one also. TheSpecialUser (talk) 09:43, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
- No problem in the test, but the third question was little out of topic. Or I missed something? TheSpecialUser (talk) 09:47, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
- I m so sorry that I didn't got that and explained in a different way. I just looked at it in a different way as I saw sockpuppet and ignored that. Again, I m sorry for that. TheSpecialUser (talk) 12:47, 11 May 2012 (UTC)
