Hi Whilst reviewing coots and moorhens currently reading in the nature reserve adjacent to my house comma with a view to improving their habitat and breeding potential I note that there seems to be a duplication of the copy page on Wikipedia.
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coot
As far as I can tell, and I'm no expert, these are one and the same bird.
Best regards Lexi Twitter handle: @Red_Pant5
Would be interested to chat directly about nesting for both birds, the coots are bullies and are terrorizing the moorhens and the moorhens were there first.
Please DM me if you wish to discuss. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 31.125.74.209 (talk) 04:56, 2 May 2020 (UTC)

The article Freeman Cruisers has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- This article does not cite any references or sources and the topic of this article may not meet Wikipedia's notability guidelines for companies and organizations.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}

Replaceable fair use File:Freeman 30 Cabin Cruiser.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Freeman 30 Cabin Cruiser.jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of fair use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of fair use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the file description page and add the text
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed|<your reason>}}
below the original replaceable fair use template, replacing<your reason>
with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable. - On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Peripitus (Talk) 11:24, 9 March 2014 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free image File:Freeman 30 Cabin Cruiser.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Freeman 30 Cabin Cruiser.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described in the criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 14:04, 10 March 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads-up, Stefan2! Fortunately, I have replaced the image with a free alternative on the Freeman Cruisers page, so all is well :D BrayLockBoy (talk) 21:27, 10 March 2014 (UTC)

User page protection
editAs per your request, I have semiprotected your user page. You didn't say for how long, so I just made it for a month, if you want the duration changed, just let me know. --kelapstick(bainuu) 16:47, 11 March 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Bray Lock Heavy Snow.jpg
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on File:Bray Lock Heavy Snow.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article or image appears to be a clear copyright infringement. This article or image appears to be a direct copy from http://riverminx.co.uk/about-us/. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website or image but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. You might want to look at Wikipedia's policies and guidelines for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Is Crimea part of Russia or is it a independent state ?
editIs Crimea part of Russia or is it a independent state ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anti-religion1945 (talk • contribs) 18:25, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- As far as I know, Crimea used to be part of the Ottoman Empire, and was defended by us Brits, France, Austria and Prussia. After the Ottoman Empire collapsed it was briefly its own state, until the Soviets rose and took it over. In 1992, it gained its own government after the Soviet Union collapsed. I know via the BBC that the Crimea has had an extremely short period of independence, but now it's part of Russia, pretty sure about that. BrayLockBoy (talk) 19:15, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- Thank you for your information, so will there be war between NATO vs Russia ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Anti-religion1945 (talk • contribs) 19:19, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- At the moment, No. NATO is based in the Atlantic Ocean, and The Crimea is technically in the Black Sea, which is a different military location, I'm pretty sure. NATO can allow the countries themselves to send troops over there, but that job belongs more to the United Nations. And, given the current state of affairs, I doubt that America will want to get involved in a war, given that they are just managing to pull out of the middle east. BrayLockBoy (talk) 19:24, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- Do you recognize that Crimea is part of Russia ? Anti-religion1945 (talk) 21:34, 18 March 2014 (UTC)
- If you want the Geographical answer, No. Crimea is attached to Ukraine. If you want the political answer, at the moment, yes. Crimea has been taken by Russia. BrayLockBoy (talk) 08:24, 19 March 2014 (UTC)

Notification of Watching (for your Wiki safety)
editHi. A recent check of your Wiki user and talk page has noted that you are open to vandalism and bullying. This is clearly against the good faith of the Wikipedia community. These warnings are specifically against the user User:Politicsguy96 whose references on his user page mirrors yours in a parodic style. Furthermore, he has wrote several posts on your talk page intending to mock or belittle that have little, or no, link to proper Wiki matters. This matter will be closely watched to ensure your safety and correct-treatment as part of the Wiki community. This was just to notify you of the trends that had been noticed. - Thank you, Bruno Russell! I have also noticed that his page sprung up shortly after I had a spate of vandalism from several different IP adresses that were apparently registered in the Carribean, and my page was vandalised multiple times by someone of Polish origin. I'm not sure exactly what link this may have, but I thought it would be necessary for you to know about it. Thanks for all the help! BrayLockBoy (talk) 07:53, 2 May 2014 (UTC)

Hello, BrayLockBoy. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Elevator ritual, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:
- edit the page
- remove the text that looks like this:
{{proposed deletion/dated...}}
- save the page
Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Magnolia677 (talk) 12:03, 19 May 2014 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia from the Anatomy Wikiproject!
editWelcome to Wikipedia from WikiProject Anatomy! We're a group of editors who strive to improve the quality of anatomy articles here on Wikipedia. One of our members has noticed that you are involved in editing anatomy articles; it's great to have a new interested editor on board. In your wiki-voyages, a few things that may be relevant to editing wikipedia articles are:
- Thanks for coming aboard! We always appreciate a new editor. Feel free to leave us a message at any time on the WikiProject Anatomy talk page. If you are interested in joining the project yourself, there is a participant list where you can sign up. Please leave a message on the talk page if you have any problems, suggestions, would like review of an article, need suggestions for articles to edit, or would like some collaboration when editing!
- You will make a big difference to the quality of information by adding reliable sources. Sourcing anatomy articles is essential and makes a big difference to the quality of articles. And, while you're at it, why not use a book to source information, which can source multiple articles at once!
- We try and use a standard way of arranging the content in each article. That layout is here. These headings let us have a standard way of presenting the information in anatomical articles, indicate what information may have been forgotten, and save angst when trying to decide how to organise an article. That said, this might not suit every article. If in doubt, be bold!
- Lastly, why not try and strive to create a good article! Anatomical articles are often small in scope, have available sources, and only a limited amount of research available that is readily presentable!
Feel free to contact us on the WikiProject Anatomy talk page if you have any problems, or wish to join us. I wish you all the best on your wiki-voyages! Thanks for your edits! There's a growing group of editors working on the Anatomy articles here. Come join us! --LT910001 (talk) 07:35, 12 June 2014 (UTC)

This is the only way I can contact you, as I can't leave a message on your wall on Wikizilla.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. You kept putting it back up like it was real. That's why. The people who made the video tricked you. Anyone who's been around the block could tell that it was a fake video.

- Are you simply setting out to attack me now? I make all of my edits under circumstances which fit WP:GF - The fact that I don't know every single article which has the same name is something shared amongst most editors. I don't edit as a profession, nor do I do it for profit (as any Wikipedian should). I edit the articles which I find interesting, and most of the time my edits remain and are built on by other users. Proposed deletion of Woolacombe Bay Holiday Parks
editThe article Woolacombe Bay Holiday Parks has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Doesn't list any sources to establish notability. An amateur website with a picture of its bus doesn't count.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Jolly Ω Janner 03:36, 1 February 2016 (UTC)

Sourcing
editThanks for your edit to the British big cats article. Just as a reminder, when dealing with fringe topics like this it's vital to cite reliable sources after facts as far as possible, so it might have been good to write that in before the source for the information. If you want to cite a source in two places, you can name it (under "ref name") before pasting it in; click "preview" and you will be able to call it by clicking "named references". Saunders-Roe Lerwick move
editWhat's your thinking behind moving to Saunders-Roe A.36 Lerwick? I wouldn't expect that at any time it would have both Saro's internal design number and its RAF service name in use at same time as part of its naming. GraemeLeggett (talk) 18:17, 12 September 2016 (UTC)
- Upon further investigation, some of the pages use the unabbreviated name, while others use the abbreviation. I apologise for the inconvenience, I thought I was bringing the page's naming in line with some of the other pages, not knowing that actually there's a degree of inconsistency in the titles. --BrayLockBoy (talk) 00:43, 13 September 2016 (UTC)
- It's not really an inconvenience - I wouldn't worry about it; all roads lead to Rome. You were right that it did bring it in line with other pages but there's an inherent inconsistency between US and UK with the former using Manufacturer-designation-name and the latter using Manufacturer and (service)name or Manufacturer and company designation. But it's an accepted one because it also fits with WP:CommonName. Of course there's always exceptions (Vickers Viking and Vickers VC.1 Viking to separate articles on aircraft built 30 years apart ). References
editRemember that when adding content about health, please only use high-quality reliable sources as references. We typically use review articles, major textbooks and position statements of national or international organizations (There are several kinds of sources that discuss health: here is how the community classifies them and uses them). WP:MEDHOW walks you through editing step by step. A list of resources to help edit health content can be found here. The edit box has a built-in citation tool to easily format references based on the PMID or ISBN. We also provide style advice about the structure and content of medicine-related encyclopedia articles. The welcome page is another good place to learn about editing the encyclopedia. editHello. This is a message to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions, such as the edit you made to 2016 Fukushima earthquake, did not appear constructive and has been undone. Please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at our welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. The fact that a meteorite was observed shortly after the earthquake is irrelevant to the earthquake. Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. RonBot (talk) 18:05, 24 November 2018 (UTC)
Hi, I was wondering if you could edit the page Social justice warrior. The opening line is very biased, and feels like it was written, well, by an SJW. "an individual who promotes socially progressive views", that seems like a very politically biased description, despite the fact that many SJW's promote anti-white, anti-male, anti-Western rhetoric. A better descriptor would be "an individual who promotes political correct views". I hope that in the future these wikipedia articles can distance themselves from SJW riddled tripe such as "Rational" Wiki. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.16.226.21 (talk) 08:39, 26 November 2018 (UTC)

A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. Roll-on/roll-off
editHello, the picture you uploaded in the page Roll-on/roll-off is upside down, please fix it or remove it thanks, Goodwillgames, 1 April 2019
- The image only seems to be upside down when you click on it and load the file preview. When you click on the actual file itself, it appears the right way around, so it’s more likely that this is some sort of Wikipedia glitch. BrayLockBoy (talk) 12:06, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
Thank you, please be so kind to ask for some help to fix it, or just remove it. As it looks now it is not useful, and the preview would only confuse the Users. Thanks, Goodwillgames, 2 April 2019
- I don't think you need to be quite so pushy. I will work on the problem as soon as I can. --BrayLockBoy (talk) 09:51, 2 April 2019 (UTC)

An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Chalfont Viaduct, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Harrow (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Please stop making unsourced edits as you have at Copper and Junk silver. Please use appropriate sources for all content. In addition, content should be written as a description of facts, not in the style of a guide. BiologicalMe (talk) 12:22, 1 July 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for revising with references. I'm not sure APMEX is an ideal source since they have a vested interest, but I won't challenge it now. Something like this feels more like a third-party source with a reputable publishing company behind it. BiologicalMe (talk) 19:49, 1 July 2019 (UTC)

The article Southwest Airlines Flight 1392 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
I don't see what's notable about this. One person got killed by a landing plane, that's extremely unfortunate but I don't see how having a full article about this contributes anything useful to the encyclopedia.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. ShadowCyclone talk 12:36, 8 May 2020 (UTC)

Octopus
editHi, I've now had to revert you twice for the same issue. I've explained that the top-level article on all octopuses, including all their taxa and all aspects of their biology, behaviour, interactions with humans, and appearances in culture, is not the place to go into extended detail on any issue, especially not a side-issue; indeed, since their interactions with humans is already a sub-topic, and direct physical danger is a sub-topic of that, and tentacle-to-human contact is a minor sub-aspect of that (since venom and bites would be the central feature there), you are attempting to expand a sub-sub-sub-topic out of proportion to its importance. I do hope this is clear as your interventions into what is a very well-established article that has passed two levels of formal reviews is becoming borderline disruptive. The appropriate place for detail of non-venom octopus attacks on humans, if such a topic be thought encyclopedic at all, would be in an article on animal (or perhaps invertebrate) attacks on humans. All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 13:54, 1 June 2021 (UTC)
- Fair enough, I apologise for any inconvenience my edits may have caused. I intended to make the second attempt more robust by providing citations for the information, but I wasn't aware the article was in such a state where even this would be superfluous. If my edit was taken as disruptive, I'd like to assure you that this was not my intention. In any case, thanks for the clarification. --BrayLockBoy (talk) 13:59, 1 June 2021 (UTC)

Silver Eagle special sets
editThere is a missing set and misinformation regarding the 2019S enhanced reverse proof. It was not the first/only mint coin or set with a serial numbered COA. That distinction belongs to the missing set, the 1997 Impressions of Liberty set. Was limited to 5000 sets, which want even met, and in addition to being serial numbered the COAs were also all signed by Philip Diehl. 97.94.53.151 (talk) 00:49, 9 May 2022 (UTC)

editHi, BrayLockBoy. I encourage you to give WP:UGC a read, as I've tried to do the same thing you did before by using Reddit as a source. Maidenhead (& more)
editI have just re-positioned the photo you recently added to the Short SC.7 article. It goes along with a large scale edit I have stumbled through across several articles related to Death flights and the Skyvans use by Argentine air forces in the Falklands War, including two long texts which at one point rather inappropriately dominated the article about the Skyvan aircraft itself. My own direct interest is predominantly in aircraft, but here on Wikipedia I find myself disappearing down all sorts of rabbit holes.
Two things; firstly I was thrown by a lack of edit summary describing the edit you had just made, apart from it was something added to the 'Specifications' section. I might be guilty of tending the other way, adding long verbose descriptions of my own edits, particularly when they encompass numerous changes in one single edit. As you are a much more experienced editor than myself, would you please guide me as to whether my edit summaries are sometimes OTT?
Secondly, for my sins I attended Maidenhead Grammar School, a long, long time ago back in the days when L C Reynolds was headmaster, so I knew Maidenhead well. Meanwhile, touching on your own interest in boats, 'Elsie' Reynolds (OBE, DSC) was a particular authority on the Fairmile D 'Dog boats' in which he saw action as a young man. Berkshire Rare Books on Summerleaze Road seem to have a first edition of his first book, Gunboat 658, for a high price, but I picked up a copy of his 'Dog Boats at War' on eBay for just £3.43, and that included postage! It's not everybody's cup of tea, but if you've ever fancied a 115ft house-boat that used to prowl around the Mediterranean shooting up German convoys - I'm sorry, they're all long gone.
