Question from Josephedward.dxb (09:52, 4 July 2024)

Hello Hiw can I add a new information --Josephedward.dxb (talk) 09:52, 4 July 2024 (UTC)

She competed in the Alpine skiing World Cup using both her surnames, therfore that makes her full name her common name, so please move her page back to María José Rienda Contreras. --Marbe166 (talk) 19:51, 4 July 2024 (UTC)

@Marbe166: I've reverted the move as contested. Ortizesp, if you still support this move, you'll have to start a WP:RM. C F A 💬 20:13, 4 July 2024 (UTC)

Renaming article request

Hi. I noticed your contribution in the Requested moves page and wanted to ask if you could finalize the move of the article's title from KFF Tirana AS > Tirana AS. I provided evidence for the move in the discussion created but nobody seems to be taking any action. Would appreciate it if you could complete the move to Tirana AS. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Kj1595 (talkcontribs)

You have been blocked from editing for a period of 24 hours for edit warring and violating the three-revert rule, as you did at Mark of the Beast. Once the block has expired, you are welcome to make useful contributions.
During a dispute, you should first try to discuss controversial changes and seek consensus. If that proves unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please review Wikipedia's guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text to the bottom of your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  Daniel Quinlan (talk) 01:43, 8 July 2024 (UTC)

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

Request reason:

This was not a 3RR violation. Those edits were vandalism and exempt per WP:3RRE. My attention was originally brought to that article because an edit the user made was flagged as a Copypatrol copyvio. I have never visited the page before today; I had no intention of starting a content dispute and have always tried to follow WP:1RR. They were vandalising the page by pasting in large Bible quotes to the dab page. This was apparently not the first time the page had been vandalized in this manner (see [8][9][10]). I assume the previous times were by the same user on different accounts/IPs. The rest of their edits were standard opinion-based vandalism: replacing ([11][12][13][14]) the generic disambiguation mention with their own analysis and commentary. Just look at their edit summaries: "Stop bullying me, and stop reverting what im writing which is the actual truth, stop being hard headed! if you dont stop im gonna report you!" I'll admit, the last few were not as contentious as the rest (only replacing/underlining one word), but given the rest of their edits these were obviously unconstructive. They were not willing to do anything about it. They just kept making change after change with edit sumamries saying they're "spreading the truth" etc. C F A 💬 02:17, 8 July 2024 (UTC)

Decline reason:

As per below; I'll leave it to Daniel Quinlan to decide if they would like to remove their block before its expiration. 331dot (talk) 07:54, 8 July 2024 (UTC)

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Not a fan of their rather pointy edit summaries, but how much of an "in universe" description of "mark of the beast" to use is certainly a legitimate content dispute (and I take your side here as easily the stronger one) and not obvious vandalism. The exception isn't for all bad edits. And even if we accept that it is clearly vandalism, for the sake of argument, I can't come close to the opinion that the one-word change of "mark" and "symbol" is clearly vandalism. An admin may not rule on this as it's a very short block, but I'd suggest just waiting the day and being a bit more careful in similar situations in the future. CoffeeCrumbs (talk) 02:41, 8 July 2024 (UTC)

The first two edits may be copyright violations, but the following 11 reverts you made do not meet any of the exemptions listed at WP:3RRNO, even if the changes were misguided and needed reversion. Also, as specified in the policy: If you are claiming an exemption, make sure there is a clearly visible edit summary or separate section of the talk page that explains the exemption. When in doubt, do not revert. In the future, instead of edit warring or violating 3RR, please consider take a break from editing the article, try to engage in a discussion with the other editor on the talk page or their user talk page, and if the edit is that bad, someone else will come along to revert it. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 03:00, 8 July 2024 (UTC)

Fair enough, Daniel Quinlan. Thank you for resolving this fairly on both sides. C F A 💬 03:30, 8 July 2024 (UTC)

"{{One source"

What does this mean?

As you have now discovered, I have listed my version and sources on the disk: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Eduard_Elbogen&diff=prev&oldid=1233581635
I have to sleep first before I add the most important (of 58) sources.
Which do you prefer? In GE, IT or SK language? --Virtualiter (talk) 21:17, 9 July 2024 (UTC)

@Virtualiter: That's fine. I tagged the article for {{one source}} before I saw it was a translation. It just means the article only has one reference. Since you appear to still be working on it, I suggest you add a {{under construction}} tag so other editors know it is still a work in progress. I assume you're referring to the language of the sources: the language does not matter as long as it accurately verifies the information. If you're using a {{cite}} template, you can use the language= parameter to specify the language and the trans-title= parameter to add the English version of the title. Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy editing! C F A 💬 21:40, 9 July 2024 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of J.E.W.

Hello CFA,

Welcome to Wikipedia! I edit here too, under the username Significa liberdade, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I have tagged an article that you started, J.E.W. for deletion, because it appears to be about something that you or someone you know personally invented, coined, or discovered, and it does not indicate how or why the subject is important and/or recognized enough to be included in an encyclopedia.

If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top. If the page is already deleted by the time you come across this message and you wish to retrieve the deleted material, please contact the deleting administrator.

For any further query, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Significa liberdade}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Operation of Parwan (1984)

Hello there If you would have talked to me first I would have made changes there was no reason for a speedy deletion Afghan1235 (talk) 01:52, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

@Afghan1235: The entire article was copied from https://www.academia.edu/4335943/THE_OTHER_SIDE_OF_THE_MOUNTAIN_Mujahideen_Tactics_in_the_Soviet_Afghan_War. Removing the copyright violations without deleting the entire article would've just amounted to blanking the page, which is essentially the same thing. I suggest just recreating the article, this time without stealing content from somewhere else. C F A 💬 02:15, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

Check it now Afghan1235 (talk) 04:08, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
@Afghan1235: 1976 Afghan coup d'état was copied without attribution from Mir Ahmad Shah Rizwani. I have left you the appropriate notice on your talk page. Battle of Nalos (1947) was evidently written entirely using AI with little to no review afterwards. It is not worded neutrally (ex: "their actions during this period are emblematic of the broader Kurdish struggle for autonomy and resistance against external domination") and I have not checked for factual accuracy. Battle of Bagh (1919) is very-closely paraphrased from https://books.google.ca/books?id=1XvKDwAAQBAJ and some senteces have just been completely copied (ex: "British casualties were eight killed and 31 wounded, while Afghan losses were about 100 killed and 300 wounded"). This whole ordeal seems very suspicious to me so unless you give me a convincing reason as to why you claim to have created the articles (when they were actually created by a blocked account), I will file a case at either WP:SPI or WP:ANI. You are also clearly not listening (or don't care) about copyright violations and have outright lied about them. C F A 💬 15:45, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
I mostly used my own words in there but no problem I will just recreate it Afghan1235 (talk) 02:16, 11 July 2024 (UTC)
@Afghan1235: You did not mostly use your own words. Literally every single paragraph was copied from the paper above. If there actually was some content worth saving, I would've just tagged it for revision deletion. C F A 💬 02:24, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

About the Superwoman page

All the Superwomen characters don't have nuclear or radiation abilities, aren't psychics, and can't teleport, but three of the characters do have solar abilities. The external links on it doesn't work anymore and one of them is not secured. 172.13.193.84 (talk) 15:15, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

I suppose you are able to remove (or replace) the external links because they are probably in violation of WP:ELNO (a wiki and a blog). I do not recommend removing categories without discussing on the talk page because they were evidently added there for a reason. Next time, please leave an edit summary so other editors know why you are removing content from the article. C F A 💬 15:52, 11 July 2024 (UTC)

Change it into research interpretation, because its more neutral. There is no so-called evidence here, the sources have the author's personal interpretation of the Chinese material. The original text does not have any clear evidence of those conclusions, only sure thing is that her name was mulan by text. But a researcher suggested its possible, so it is more interpretation. 2001:14BB:AE:CEE0:B093:8E5E:C8BE:56D7 (talk) 11:25, 13 July 2024 (UTC)

Lissa Schneckenburger draftification

Hi CFA — I noticed that you draftified Lissa Schneckenburger (created by Wings Commander) when you patrolled it with NPP, claiming that it needs more sources to establish notability. The four sources that were present right after the first sentence — [1][2][3][4] — are to my reading clearly enough to meet the NARTIST/GNG standards, so I am reverting the move.

Please remember that NPP is about quality, not quantity, and it is always okay to slow down when needed. Unjustified draftifications damage the encyclopedia, both in terms of lost content and in terms of biting the article creators, so we want to minimize them as much as possible.

Best, Sdkbtalk 03:40, 14 July 2024 (UTC)

I do not believe, based on the sources in the article and a BEFORE, that the subject meets GNG. They are mostly, local, routine WP:INTERVIEWS. The Rutland Herald source is the best available, and I suppose the Bluegrass United is short but gets the job done, but the other sources are interviews with little coverage outside of the transcript. Regardless, if you disagree, I won't do anything further. Thank you for letting me know. C F A 💬 03:52, 14 July 2024 (UTC)

First of all, welcome to Wikipedia, Sir Grodus II! Unfortunately if a claim cannot be verified by a reliable source, it is not suitable for inclusion in a Wikipedia article. One of Wikiedia's core content policies is verifiability. YouTube is generally considered an unreliable source because it is user-generated content. Other wikis are also considered unreliable for the same reason. Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy editing! C F A 💬 19:36, 14 July 2024 (UTC)

Speedey deletion of Thomas Matthew Crooks and recreating it under your own name right after

@CFA I am baffled why you nominated it originally (when I created it as a redirect) for speedy deletion, deleted it even after sources were added, and afterward, instead of restoring the page I created; you created a brand new one under your name. I find it to be dishonest editing. To rectify, restore mine, and merge the current one into it. Bohbye (talk) 00:00, 17 July 2024 (UTC)

@Bohbye: You created the article when it was an unsubstantiated rumour published in the New York Post. Tabloid journalism aside, The New York Post is considered unreliable on Wikipedia because of their history of fabrication. That is a massive violation of our biographies of living persons policy. Please take a look at all the other redacted BLP violations of people posting rumoured names on the talk page of Attempted assassination of Donald Trump. I suggest you read WP:BLP. You have undone some information on our movie which cost us a lot of money to make. I'm not being paid by anybody. Why would you assume? We simply wanted to put up information about our movie. 151.71.102.61 (talk) 22:53, 17 July 2024 (UTC)
Because you said this is "your movie". If you work for them and are being compensated, it is a form of paid editing. Either way, you are connected to the subject and it is still a conflict of interest that has to be disclosed appropriately. Editing the article without disclosing your conflict of interest is not allowed. Once you disclose your COI, you can make an edit request on the talk page. The edit you added, "hitting cinemas in August 2024" is not written in the neutral point of view and was added solely to promote the movie. Question from Bushabezwe (12:36, 21 July 2024)

I wish to edit Meerkat information in exchange for Zulu name such as Chajane --Bushabezwe (talk) 12:36, 21 July 2024 (UTC)

Hi Bushabezwe and welcome to Wikipedia! Unfortunately, the Meerkat article has been semi-protected because of vandalism. Luckily it won't take long to be able to edit this article: You just need to have had an account for 4 days and made 10 edits. You've already made 10 edits, so all you have to do is wait 4 days. In the mean time, there are millions of other articles you can edit. If you're looking for jobs to do, the task center has lots of options. You should also have some tasks on your homepage that have been chosen for you. And if you're looking for a surprise, Special:Random will send you to a random article to check out. Hope this helps — let me know if you have any other questions. Happy editing! C F A 💬 14:34, 21 July 2024 (UTC)

National World

redirects: Rotherham Advertiser , Rotherhamadvertiser.co.uk , Insider Media Limited , Insider Media Ltd. , Insider Media Ltd , Insider Media , Insidermedia.com

these topics are probably not notable enough for their own articles, redlinks in this case, is hoping for the perfect.

98.248.161.240 (talk) 18:52, 23 July 2024 (UTC)

Maybe, but these redirects would be kind of pointless. National World has a list of media owned by the company; turning these into redirects would just create circular links. I assume all the list entries are linked so that the non-existent articles can eventually be created. C F A 💬 19:00, 23 July 2024 (UTC)

Draft:Roy Freirich

Hi! Thank you for reviewing my page. I've been working on it for a few months now, and have been on the chats speaking with editors and applying their suggestions to my page. In terms of the significant coverage, I was told that a grammy win was enough to qualify. I am also confused about my sources. I removed every source that didn't meet the criteria. The author's online biography was said to be permissible in order to disambiguate his name (Roy Freeland/Freirich). All of the other sources are major publications/reputable websites. I would really appreciate any advice on how to proceed. Thank you! Gabriela Jatene (talk) 16:18, 23 July 2024 (UTC)

@Gabriela Jatene: Hi, yes, a Grammy nomination is enough to meet the notability guidelines for musicians, specifically criteria #8. Notability is not really an issue here. Your sources are why I declined your draft. Because this is a biography of a living person, it is especially important that all claims are cited and can be verified to reliable sources. Bandcamp and Medium are both unreliable sources because they are self-published, user-generated content. A lot of your claims relating to his books are cited directly to the publishers' websites, which are primary sources. That is not necessarily an issue in itself but it would be better if you could find some secondary coverage (i.e. reviews in reliable sources), especially for claims going beyond "he wrote this book". I don't see why it wouldn't be accepted if you make sure to improve the sourcing. Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy editing! C F A 💬 17:49, 23 July 2024 (UTC)

Your review

Hi CFA, I'm Neuromancer2022. I'm writing 'cause you've reviewed the page "Draft:Cignaroli Academy and Brenzoni School of Painting and Sculpture" and unfortunately it seems that it's lacking sources. It's my first english page so would you please help me a bit and clarify what I should do now? Sources that I have our all ancient books hundred years old... I wrote the references in Bibliography and notes. Thank you so much Neuromancer2022 (talk) 12:37, 25 July 2024 (UTC)

@Neuromancer2022: Hi, yes, books are fine. The quality of your references is not the issue. A lot of the article completely lacks citations, though. For example, the "Activity in the 20th century" section, which is 8 paragraphs long, doesn't have a single citation. It is not clear to reviewers where that information came from if you do not attach citations to the claims. Feel free to resubmit once you have resolved this. Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy editing! C F A 💬 15:25, 25 July 2024 (UTC)

Question from Trudluc (25 July 2024)

Thanks for reviewing the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Dav1d. I was wondering if you can help identify which references are good and which ones are problematic, so that I can improve the draft. Previous reviewer indicated that Youtube and medium reference were unreliable so I removed those. Please let me know what I can improve in order to make this draft acceptable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Trudluc (talkcontribs) 13:32, 25 July 2024 (UTC)

@Trudluc: Hi, a lot of your article is cited directly to unreliable sources, like blogs. For example, this is a blog, and so is this, this, this, this, this, etc. GitLab and Vimeo are also unreliable. Please also review the general notability guidelines to make sure the topic is notable enough for a Wikipedia article. Generally, a good number to look for is 3 independent, reliable, sources that are entirely about the subject. Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy editing! about the page declined

Dear CFA

A page I wrote was declined and I would like to explain. In my opinion, prof. lee is a [WP:ACADEMIC]] 's criteria from number 5 to 8. This is because he has been a professor at one of Korea's top universities for more than 30 years, editor-in-chief of a prestigious international journal, and president of Daegu Gyeongbuk Institute of Science and Technology in South Korea. Hyoshin cho (talk) 05:06, 25 July 2024 (UTC)

@Hyoshin cho: Hi, your best shot at notability is probably WP:NACADEMIC criteria #8 as the editor of a journal in their subject area. None of the other criteria apply based on what is written in the article. You could try resubmitting, but please address the tone issues which is partially why your draft has already been declined several times. The article reads like a promotional resumé at the moment. Also, how do you know of Lee Kunwoo? You uploaded a picture of him on Commons under "your own work" which means you have met him to take the picture. Your draft will not be accepted until you appropriately disclose your conflict of interest or paid editing. Please respond to me stating how you know him. Thank you. C F A 💬 14:25, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for your kind response. Actually, I did ask live help for help, and I did edit it, but I'll try to fix the parts that feel like a promotional resume. I'll try to change the tone so that it's based on objective facts. Mr. Lee is the president of the university where I work. As for the photo, I uploaded the photo from our company's homepage, and of course, it was taken by a professional photographer from our public relations team. He is already an authorized person on the Korean Wikipedia homepage, but the American version seems to be a bit difficult. If there is anything wrong or misleading, I think it should be corrected. Thank you for your reply, even though you are busy. Hyoshin cho (talk) 23:51, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
@Hyoshin cho: Thank you for letting me know. First, you should make sure to appropriately disclose your conflict of interest, and in this case it may actually be a financial conflict of interest with different instructions. As to uploading the photo, if you did not take it, you do not own the copyright to it. And I can see on the university's website that it says "COPYRIGHT 2024 DGIST. ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.", which means using it on Wikipedia is violating copyright. You will have to find a suitably-licensed alternative or request that the photographer donate the image to Wikipedia. Copy editing is about making a small fix to the way an article is written, such as spelling, grammar, or the clarity of the text. Copy edits help articles to be more professional and trustworthy. Draft: Vahika rejected

Hello, you rejected my Vahika draft and I wanted to ask why as you stated no reason. The lead states with good sources that the current Bahlika wiki, which you said the draft be merged into, was totally different to the Vahika region draft I wrote about with totally different histories and being in totally different areas.(one in Punjab the other in Northern Afghanistan) hence why it shouldn’t have been rejected.

Thanks. Maniacdude (talk) 10:13, 28 July 2024 (UTC)

@Maniacdude: I declined your draft, which means you are still able to resubmit it. Vahika redirects to Bahlikas and appears to be talking about the same region. I guess it is not? You are clearly much more knowledgeable on the subject than me, so I will take your word for it. I will let another reviewer take a look.

Feedback on Recent AfD

Hey CFA, I was hoping to get some feedback based on your comment on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Café Hagen. Do you mind if I ask some questions to help me better understand how WP:AUD, WP:SIGCOV and WP:INDEPENDENT are applied? Thankyou. Rollinginhisgrave (talk) 03:36, 29 July 2024 (UTC)

@Rollinginhisgrave: Well, for starters, all the sources I listed are independent. There is no reason to believe any of them have any connection with the subject or have received any payment for publishing their articles. They all, save maybe The Stranger, meet WP:SIGCOV because they are all wholly about the subject. Some go especially in-depth; for example, The Seattle Times article is more than 900 words. It also meets WP:AUD because The Seattle Times is the largest newspaper in Washington, and thus qualifies as a regional outlet (e.g., the biggest daily newspaper in any US state). Happy editing, C F A 💬 04:02, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
Do you think my comment concerning dailycoffeenews possibly failing WP:INDEPENDENT has any merit? Beyond what I've already said, I've just noticed the piece is filed under "marketing".
Is there any way for articles about restaurants in major cities to fail WP:AUD, since all the papers covering it will be regional outlets in some capacity?
Similarly, wouldn't the consideration of audience for Seattle Times be who it is stated the article is written for ("covers the food scene in the neighborhoods around Seattle") rather than the whole of Washington?
Greatly appreciate the clarification. This is my first time putting something up for AfD and it went terribly. Rollinginhisgrave (talk) 04:13, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
@Rollinginhisgrave: Yeah, you probably are right about Daily Coffee News. It looks like they do some type of advertising so I wouldn't be surprised if that was a promotional piece. We can count that as non-independent. WP:AUD is more of a "safety net" to catch otherwise-non-notable businesses that have only been covered in a few run-of-the-mill stories in small, local newspapers, like most local businesses have. This is a different case. These stories are not run-of-the-mill. They go in-depth about the café. The Seattle Times isn't a "small" newspaper by any means, either — it's the largest in the state. If it hadn't been covered in The Seattle Times, there might've been a better argument for it failing WP:AUD, since the other newspapers were mostly small, local ones. At the end of the day, in cases like this, voters will generally err on the site of keeping. People generally don't like deleting articles because of "technicalities" when there is little reason to.
I used to avoid AfD like the plague up until a few months ago because of how confusing it was. Once I started participating, my first few didn't go so well either. I suggest going to today's AfD log and voting in a few that have had no votes yet, so you have to do most of the research/analysis yourself. That's how I learned. C F A 💬 14:56, 29 July 2024 (UTC)
I think it sounds like what I have been considering SIGCOV is excessive, which I picked up from this convo. It's kind of hard for me to comprehend there's like 400 Wiki articles worth of notability to be written from just this one Seattle Times author's output from the last few years; I can't tell if that's liberating or demoralizing.
Thanks for the tip on voting on recent discussions. Bit worried I'd be misapplying policies given today's mess. Might just stick to article creation for a while and hope I absorb through osmosis. But I'm really grateful for your help here. Rollinginhisgrave (talk) 15:26, 29 July 2024 (UTC)

Question from Royiswariii (12:18, 31 July 2024)

Hello, I created a article from Maloi a girl group from BINI and it was separately article from independent activites. Would you mind to take a look at my article for that?

Thank you very much. --Royiswariii (talk) 12:18, 31 July 2024 (UTC)

@Royiswariii: The first thing I noticed was that Maloi (singer) is cited to a few unreliable sources. YouTube and Facebook are user-generated content and they should not be used as citations, especially in a biography of a living person. Consider finding some reliable, secondary coverage instead.
As to whether the subject is notable on their own: I'm not sure. Musicians that are part of a group do not inherit notability from their group. They have to meet the notability guidelines for musicians individually. A lot of sources about her fall into two categories: Sources primarily focusing on the group and tabloid journalism. Sources that primarily focus on the group do not offer significant coverage of Maloi herself, and thus don't count towards notability. A lot of articles that are specifically about her (e.g. this preview.ph article) seem to be primarily tabloids that likely aren't reliable. I would recommend looking for more in-depth, reliable sources to help show individual notability. Let me know if you have any other questions. Happy editing, C F A 💬 15:26, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
