Chinatown Square
editI am a newbie Wikipedia User and I found out that here on wikipedia, there is not an article about Chinatown Square, a huge outdoor mall situtated in Chinatown Chicago. I made an article but it is currently being edited by you. I want you to know that, I am not making an adveritisment, but just making information, just like any other general mall. I know the grammar is bad, I do not have good grammar. So please the page...
Thanks —Preceding unsigned comment added by P95123 (talk • contribs) 16:52, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

AirwaySim-100000000000000% Appropriate
editAirwaysim is 100% appropriate for Wikipedia! It is to be used a place where people can view what it is. It does not have any selective views and it is sourced from the actual website!
PLEASE TELL ME WHAT IS WRONG WITH IT!!!! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Airwaysim (talk • contribs) 04:59, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- I can not find any articles on this, but wikipedia is supposed to be where you can post articles on things! There are articles on Potatoes! Are potatoes relevent ot every day life? Usually no! Their is an article on airline mogul! They are an airlinesimultion game! It is still an article that DOES help the public! their are thousands, more like hundreds of thousands of people interested in aviation and many of those are interested in a WELL developed simulation game!
- I can understand that most people dont care about this, but some do! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Airwaysim (talk • contribs) 05:21, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
So, if I can't find a news source for this (which their isn't) and I have a miniscule chance of changing the rules, what am I todo? Even if an article only effects 100 people, isn't enough to create an article on it?
I'm not trying to argue, but I personally think it meets the criteria. I have not expressed any personal views other than saying something about people contributing to the website, but that is a trivial item that can be deleted. I have provided enough information for the time being and sourced it with the website. I can not find a "reputable" source, such as a paper, as this site is relatively new. I have seen articels that are about airports in the middle of no where, with almost no info except for their name, yet that falls under the category of ok because it is part of civil aviation. The content in the article does not express unacceptible material (other then one speculation stated previously).
What should I do if this piece is technically missing one piece? Request for the article to be made? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Airwaysim (talk • contribs) 05:42, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

speedy tag on User:Geomet/Geometallurgy for copyvio
editHi
I deleted that article earlier today. The author asked for an undelete on the grounds that his company is the copyright owner. I undeleted but warned the author that they needed to confirm that they were relicensing the text under GFDL. The author responded that this should be forthcoming tomorrow (5 Dec) to to avoid once again deleting and undelelting I've moved it to their userspace pro tem. If no confirmation is forthcoming the article will be deleted. Regards Tonywalton Talk 20:28, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- Make that "copyvio tag". OK if I revert under those conditions? Tonywalton Talk 20:30, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- Will do. And I'll put a note of the circumstances on that article's talkpage. Cheers, Tonywalton Talk 20:33, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- Now done. If only
the authorhad removed the speedy tag once it got to their userspace.

editwhat is your problem?? if it is a copywrite infringement then why don't you just rewrite it or request it to be rewritten? You have the source right there since it is a copywrite infringement. If you need more sources why don't you just add citation needed to the article instead of totally deleting it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cyril2006 (talk • contribs) 02:01, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

editI thought that you had suggested that I use a different user name. My intention is not to introduce spam. My point is that there is a new technology which effectively replaces the COFDM technology used by other manufacturers which are referenced in the article. If it is ok to list manufacturers and products like Wolfe Coach, Motorola, Firetide, etc, why are we not able to mention our company as well?
Maybe I just don't understand the policy against commercialization. Is the mention of a new protocol which is best described by the company that created it spam? There is no solicitation to buy and the claims are verifiable by third parties. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cafedot (talk • contribs) 03:54, 9 December 2007 (UTC)

I have had a really difficult time posting information on this website and I am starting to get very upset as I am constantly having to retype it and post it on again... You deleted my post last night on Geometallurgy...this has been taken off the SGS website and I work for the company. I have already went through this with TonyWaton(sp?). Could you please put it back as I dont have the time to re-write it and post it again...now that I know... I will add: I, Geomet, am the author of this article, Geometallurgy, and I release its content under the terms of the GNU Free Documentation License.
I am asking you kindly to please put it back on.... I really dont have the time to go through this again.... its happened over and over and its clearly just a misunderstanding as each time there is something wrong I fix it... and then something else is wrong...
Please let me know when you are going to re port it... this is very urgent as my manager is waiting to see this today...thank you kindly.
Geomet (talk) 13:41, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
I am so confused? can you please outline exactly what I need to do to have this information on the site? Yes the website is mine... I work for SGS in the marketing dept. It is our material.... What exactly do i need to do? I appreciate you help... I really need to get this done...if you could let me know as soon as possible... thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Geomet (talk • contribs) 14:12, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
i cant just remove that off our international website though.....
I understand that the material on Wiki can be edited.... but I am giving permission for our material on this website to be edited....
However... that material on our webite is still copyrighted and no one else can use it except for us...
if you look at the past comments by Tony Waton... he said that all i had to do was give permission and how him i was from SGS (i sent him an email with my sgs address) and he said that would be fine...please look at the past comments... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Geomet (talk • contribs) 14:18, 11 December 2007 (UTC)

Hi...okay thanks your message was so helpful.... however now when I follow the link to post my information... it doesnt come up when i search for it... its says geometallurgy doesnt exist on the site??... do you know why this is?? i copy and pasted the statement on the talk page :
I, User:Geomet, have been authorized by my employer, SGS, to release this material under the GNU Free Documentation License. To confirm my employment status, I have sent a message from my SGS account to User:Tonywalton, an administrator, who will vouch for this.
But my article is no where to be found....I know this is going to be long... but this is what I need to paste (see below for long article)
any ideas?? Thanks I appreciate your help so much!!

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Royal Canadian Mint.png)
editThanks for uploading Image:Royal Canadian Mint.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Image copyright problem with Image:Macalester College.svg
editThanks for uploading Image:Macalester College.svg. You've indicated that the image is being used under a claim of fair use, but you have not provided an adequate explanation for why it meets Wikipedia's requirements for such images. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check
- That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's description page for each article the image is used in.
- That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
editHello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:16, 15 March 2011 (UTC)

Intervocalic alveolar flapping
editHey, on the reasoning for your recent move of Intervocalic alveolar-flapping to Intervocalic alveolar flapping, I don't buy the analysis that alveolar is an adjective modifying flapping, making the phrase flapping at an alveolar place of articulation. Rather, I see alveolar flapping as a compound, equivalent to flapping of alveolar consonants (meaning changing of the alveolar consonants' manner of articulation). Alveolar is a noun modifying flapping, not an adjective.
Anyway, this is just a response to the reasoning for your move. Your move is okay even if your reasoning is wrong, since whether compound nouns use hyphens or not is a matter of style. I don't care enough about which style should be used here to move the article back, so you're free to ignore this comment if you aren't interested in the syntax of the phrase. — Eru·tuon 04:43, 25 August 2012 (UTC)
