Page Protection Request
Hi there. Could you place The Apprentice (UK series 14) under semi-protection until the end of December? We got some IP Users making unhelpful edits to this article that need to be curbed. GUtt01 (talk) 19:58, 29 November 2018 (UTC)
- GUtt01. Gave it a month. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 20:54, 29 November 2018 (UTC)
Hi, can you put The Witchfinders under page protection? We got an IP user vandalising it with slander against another editor. It's my belief it's Hyper121, who caused this trouble to them before, and is using IPs to circumvent a Indefinite Block against them to commit slanderous attacks upon them. User being victimised is AlexTheWhovian, who doesn't deserve this. GUtt01 (talk) 16:36, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
- {{u:GUtt01||. Semi the page, revision delete the comments and blocked the IP. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 16:55, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
We need page protection on It Takes You Away ASAP! Vandalising harassment attacks on AlexTheWhovian have been committed on this page. I think we also need to highlight the matter on the Admin noticeboard - we need to alert Admins that this editor is being targeted with harassment and trolling attacks, and it is possible someone is doing so after being blocked for this behaviour. Interface administrator changes
- Following a request for comment, the Mediation Committee is now closed and will no longer be accepting case requests.
- A request for comment is in progress to determine whether members of the Bot Approvals Group should satisfy activity requirements in order to remain in that role.
- A request for comment is in progress regarding whether to change the administrator inactivity policy, such that administrators "who have made no logged administrative actions for at least 12 months may be desysopped". Currently, the policy states that administrators "who have made neither edits nor administrative actions for at least 12 months may be desysopped".
- A proposal has been made to temporarily restrict editing of the Main Page to interface administrators in order to mitigate the impact of compromised accounts.
- Administrators and bureaucrats can no longer unblock themselves unless they placed the block initially. This change has been implemented globally. See also this ongoing village pump discussion (permalink).
- To complement the aforementioned change, blocked administrators will soon have the ability to block the administrator that placed their block to mitigate the possibility of a compromised administrator account blocking all other active administrators.
- Since deployment of Partial blocks on Test Wikipedia, several bugs were identified. Most of them are now fixed. Administrators are encouraged to test the new deployment and report new bugs on Phabricator or leave feedback on the Project's talk page. You can request administrator access on the Test Wiki here.
- Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee Elections is open to eligible editors until Monday 23:59, 3 December 2018. Please review the candidates and, if you wish to do so, submit your choices on the voting page.
- In late November, an attacker compromised multiple accounts, including at least four administrator accounts, and used them to vandalize Wikipedia. If you have ever used your current password on any other website, you should change it immediately. Sharing the same password across multiple websites makes your account vulnerable, especially if your password was used on a website that suffered a data breach. As these incidents have shown, these concerns are not pure fantasies.
- Wikipedia policy requires administrators to have strong passwords. To further reinforce security, administrators should also consider enabling two-factor authentication. A committed identity can be used to verify that you are the true account owner in the event that your account is compromised and/or you are unable to log in.
- Shock Brigade Harvester Boris (Raymond Arritt) passed away on 14 November 2018. Boris joined Wikipedia as Raymond arritt on 8 May 2006 and was an administrator from 30 July 2007 to 2 June 2008.
IP Troll detected
There's an IP trolling the editor I mentioned to you before, who seems to think he deserves being harrassed. People may be entitled to making their own opinions, but if you dare say someone should be harrassed for something that was not there fault at all, and is being purely victimised, then you are as bad as them - this is purely my opinion. IP is 86.187.169.80. GUtt01 (talk) 10:32, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
- GUtt01. I blocked the IP and semi protected the talk page. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 11:24, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
I think we have a serious problem with IPs targetting AlextheWhovian. There is persistent attempts to slander and victimise him, and common link seems to be towards pages he edits covering Doctor Who. GUtt01 (talk) 21:10, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
- GUtt01 Did you see Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard#Lookin for a range block please? I guess a range block can't work. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 22:09, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
- Yeah. As soon as you block an IP, the individual could just get another allocated to them, and keep on going. It does seriously raise a question - how can Wikipedia truly tackle harassment, slander, and vandalism, if it maintains an open policy of editing for those without accounts? If someone tries to vandalise and gets their registered account blocked, at least trying to circumvent it with another account makes it easier to spot the behaviour and note the account as a sock puppet. GUtt01 (talk) 23:00, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
Hi Cambridge, I noticed you reverted my change on the number of countries on the island of North-South America. While the statistic states that there are 35 countries within the American realms, some of these are Caribbean or other island countries, and so are not part of the landmass of North/South America. There are 10 countries in mainland North America and 13 in South America:
- Canada
- USA
- Mexico
- Belize
- Guatemala
- El Salvador
- Honduras
- Nicaragua
- Costa Rica
- Panama
- Colombia
- Venezuela
- Guyana
- Surinam
- France (French Guiana)
- Brazil
- Uruguay
- Argentina
- Chile
- Paraguay
- Bolivia
- Peru
- Ecuador
So, by my count, 23. Please let me know if this clears up the misunderstanding. Thanks, RedPanda25 22:31, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
- RedPanda25. Sorry about that. Chalk it up to me being stupid that day. I just rolled it back. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 22:47, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for understanding, but I have another question: should disputed territories such as Kosovo and Somaliland be included in the count for Afro-Eurasia? Also, I don't know how they got the number of 14 dependencies, as the only ones in mainland Afro-Eurasia are Hong Kong and Macau . I'm going to check if the same mistake was made for that landmass (and I have a feeling it was). Regards, RedPanda25 01:00, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
A cup of tea for you!
How's the Weather? Hamster Sandwich (talk) 22:55, 3 December 2018 (UTC) |
- Hamster Sandwich. Thanks for the tea. It's −30 °C (−22 °F) with a wind chill of -43. Still a lot better than the −38 °C (−36 °F) and -52 wind cill we had a couple of weeks ago. How is where you are? CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 23:24, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
- Uh... Warmer than there! 0C trending to -8 over the next few days. Presently a miserable cold mist. I keep seeing your name pop up on my watched pages and thought I'd drop a note here. The Martin Hartwell article finally resembles something people could read. I have been recently pleased to see a few articles I created are at least "B" class now. Very satisfying, and I think the first ever article I wrote here Angus McAskill is a much better joint as well.
- At the risk of inviting opprobrium, (which I think is something I can completely disregard after getting the stick the other day) I would say that after a week or so back in the saddle, the only thing I'm lacking at the moment is the "See Recent Changes" tool. I'll ask for it back in a month or something. No need for me to ever block or even rollback when there are so many people on top of things.
- I mentioned on my little user space that I have certain friends in the project who I have worked with, and you are certainly one of them. Glad to see you have remained so engaged in the project! Best regards, Hamster Sandwich (talk) 23:38, 3 December 2018 (UTC)
- Thank you very much. It's always good to see old friends back again. Welcome back. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 00:36, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
- Question: Would you have acess to an image of a Beech 18 at YCB that we could use for the Hartwell article? Best regards, Hamster Sandwich (talk) 20:58, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
- Hamster Sandwich No I don't. I can't remember the last time I saw one. There are only two Canadian civil register Beech 18 at Commons, File:C-FWJC Beech Expeditor 3T Central Mountain Air YVR 11APR93 (6926180007).jpg and File:Beechcraft D18S CF-QPD (16389694212).jpg. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 21:36, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for that... Having one on the field at YCB would have been too perfect. I think that article could be bumped up from start class at this point as well. It's pretty well complete. There can't be much more to add to that than there is now. Reading the note that Hartwell left his son, when he thought the end was coming... The truth of a man at the end.... "I was good in my heart" Reminds me of Mawson's Ordeal. Cheers man, Hamster Sandwich (talk) 22:27, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
User failing to heed warnings on vandalism
This user, Dboora, has been warned about vandalizing Wikipedia articles, and it seems they've been cheeky to not heed this. Could you make them learn that this behaviour is not acceptable? GUtt01 (talk) 22:21, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
- Actually, I think you better block the editor in question - I don't believe they are using it for anything other than vandalism, based on their contributions on Wikipedia. They have done nothing at all than this. GUtt01 (talk) 22:36, 5 December 2018 (UTC)
- GUtt01 I see they haven't edited in a while. See what happens. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 09:30, 6 December 2018 (UTC)
- Caught them doing the same thing again tiday - they vandalised an article with personal opinion. They are not doing anything constructive at all.
Criteria for PP?
Hi. At [1] you declined to protect the page with "Not enough recent disruptive activity to justify protection". I stated "Of the last couple dozen edits [in about 3.5 months], only one was possibly legitimate". After skimming WP:PP etc. (which are very long), I don't see any real guidance on what is considered "enough". I was about to propose semi-protection on Robin Williams on similar grounds, but it's not as severe as the other article. What metric should I use to keep from making requests that will be declined? Is there something else I can do, other than wasting time having to watch pages so closely? —[AlanM1(talk)]— 00:17, 9 December 2018 (UTC)
- AlanM1. Normally several a day is needed. If there are one or two a day then pending changes but that articles editing is slow. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 09:53, 9 December 2018 (UTC)

Can you tell me please why did you move my article to sandbox? It's very important and I need it to be done by tomorrow. My username is Alexandra117 and my article was Arta si arhitectura mameluca.
Thank you

Please protect Silent Letter
Hi CambridgeBayWeather. You recently implemented protected status to Silent English alphabet. The same vandal that was modifying that article has been vandalizing Silent letter. The user in question is a mobile editor, so their IP address jumps around a bit. As a heads up, that user also has a history of vandalizing Hard and soft C. Can you protect Silent letter and possibly watch Hard and soft C?
My past discussions regarding the user were addressed to Home Lander, whom I have also notified about this issue. All the best, Overjive (talk) 22:11, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) I have semiprotected the article and implemented a rangeblock of the user in question. --Kinu t/c 22:17, 18 December 2018 (UTC)
- Just wanted to acknowledge that I have read this note as well. Thanks. Home Lander (talk) 00:03, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
Recent full protection of India article
Recently you put the article on India under full protection, but you left the disruptive edit unreverted. It's important that it be undone, as not only does it use non-MOS and non-consensus numerical expressions but at least two of the conversions are wrong ("7.5 lakh (75 million) years ago" and "over 1,200 crore (1.2 billion)...people"). Dhtwiki (talk) 22:42, 19 December 2018 (UTC)
- That's because I was protecting and not taking part in a content dispute. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 08:10, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
- Yes Cambridge, but that doesn't mean to reward one User who repeatedly violates 3RR and punish others who had the decency to not engage in revert war. Please revert it to the original version and then you can protect it. --King Zebu (talk) 08:05, 23 December 2018 (UTC)
- Also, what about Wikipedia:Stable version?! Clearly the version which you protected isn't stable because it represents the POV pushing by one User while violating multiple Wikipedia MOS guidelines. I urge you to use better judgement. --King Zebu (talk) 09:22, 23 December 2018 (UTC)
We seem to be having a persistent IP vandalism problem with this article. Can you please give it a short period of "semi"? - Ahunt (talk) 16:50, 20 December 2018 (UTC)
- Ahunt. I've gone with a week. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 04:57, 21 December 2018 (UTC)
- Super, thank you. - Ahunt (talk) 23:20, 21 December 2018 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – January 2019
News and updates for administrators from the past month (December 2018).
- There are a number of new or changed speedy deletion criteria, each previously part of WP:CSD#G6:
- G14 (new): Disambiguation pages that disambiguate only zero or one existing pages are now covered under the new G14 criterion (discussion). This is {{db-disambig}}; the text is unchanged and candidates may be found in Category:Candidates for speedy deletion as unnecessary disambiguation pages.
- R4 (new): Redirects in the file namespace (and no file links) that have the same name as a file or redirect at Commons are now covered under the new R4 criterion (discussion). This is {{db-redircom}}; the text is unchanged.
- G13 (expanded): Userspace drafts containing only the default Article Wizard text are now covered under G13 along with other drafts (discussion). Such blank drafts are now eligible after six months rather than one year, and taggers continue to use {{db-blankdraft}}.
- The Wikimedia Foundation now requires all interface administrators to enable two-factor authentication.
- Members of the Bot Approvals Group (BAG) are now subject to an activity requirement. After two years without any bot-related activity (e.g. operating a bot, posting on a bot-related talk page), BAG members will be retired from BAG following a one-week notice.
- Starting on December 13, the Wikimedia Foundation security team implemented new password policy and requirements. Privileged accounts (administrators, bureaucrats, checkusers, oversighters, interface administrators, bots, edit filter managers/helpers, template editors, et al.) must have a password at least 10 characters in length. All accounts must have a password:
- At least 8 characters in length
- Not in the 100,000 most popular passwords (defined by the Password Blacklist library)
- Different from their username
- User accounts not meeting these requirements will be prompted to update their password accordingly. More information is available on MediaWiki.org.
- Blocked administrators may now block the administrator that blocked them. This was done to mitigate the possibility that a compromised administrator account would block all other active administrators, complementing the removal of the ability to unblock oneself outside of self-imposed blocks. A request for comment is currently in progress to determine whether the blocking policy should be updated regarding this change.
- {{Copyvio-revdel}} now has a link to open the history with the RevDel checkboxes already filled in.
- Following the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections, the following editors have been appointed to the Arbitration Committee: AGK, Courcelles, GorillaWarfare, Joe Roe, Mkdw, SilkTork.
- Accounts continue to be compromised on a regular basis. Evidence shows this is entirely due to the accounts having the same password that was used on another website that suffered a data breach. If you have ever used your current password on any other website, you should change it immediately.
- Around 22% of admins have enabled two-factor authentication, up from 20% in June 2018. If you haven't already enabled it, please consider doing so. Regardless of whether you use 2FA, please practice appropriate account security by ensuring your password is secure and unique to Wikimedia.
Rupesh D Gohil Page
Dear CambridgeBay
Hope you are doing good Rupesh D Gohil this page created in 2016 and working fine till last week without any issues last week aneemi bot deleted this page without proper reason after this i recreated this page again. with more and genuine references
please allow me to edit this page again.

- The page was deleted in 2016. All the bot deleted was a redirect. I see you have been working on a draft. When you think it is ready put the submit tag on and if it is accepted then it can be moved. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 12:43, 3 January 2019 (UTC)
Warning for Edit Warring
I am not sure why I am being warned for edit warring. I am reverting the edits User:Joel David 99 of because he's adding information that is unsourced and not confirmed by any reliable source. I have given my rationale for reverting, where as User:Joel David 99 keeps adding the same information. Coderzombie (talk) 12:31, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
- Coderzombie Because you aren't reverting vandalism which makes it edit warring. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 12:43, 4 January 2019 (UTC)

Hi CambridgeBayWeather, the page 'Martha Skewermann' was recently deleted, apparently due to (A7: No credible indication of importance (individuals, animals, organizations, web content, events)) however there is definite public interest in this page as indicated by existing public interest in Martha Skewermann via her public web presence. Discussion at Category talk:Actress filmographies#Tara Strong Filmography Should be Renamed to List of Tara Strong Performances
You're invited to join the discussion at Category talk: Actress filmographies#Tara Strong Filmography Should be Renamed to List of Tara Strong Perfomances.
However another admin by the name of Anarchyte said it will be "out of place if the article's name got changed" on his/hers talk page.
Another admin this time who goes by the name of Acroterion had a message from someone else saying that after saying " Murdoc Niccals isn't protected. The Tara Strong filmography is indefinitely protected. You can ask Ohnoitsjamie for a change." Unfortunately said admin's talk page is protected.
Lastly, some actors/actress filmographies in their respective categories have the fancier sounding naming convention of List of (name) Perfomances rather than the simple and boring (name) Filmography. Leading sentence rather be changed into "Canadian-American actress Tara Strong has done voice work for numerous animations and video games and has performed in various live action productions."
So please accept the name change. Primary source for mentioned article: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tara_Strong_Filmography.

Protection of List of Presidential Trips
Hi, I'm wondering why you've protected List of presidential_trips made by Donald Trump (2019)? I don't see any disruption among the IP edits and if there was, short-term semi-protection would seem most appropriate. Galobtter (pingó mió) 18:30, 14 January 2019 (UTC)
- Galobtter (talk · contribs) Because of Wikipedia:Rough guide to extended confirmed protection ("Discretionary sanctions (which can be applied to articles on a number of topics specified by ArbCom) do not explicitly include ECP. Page Protection Request - Government shutdowns in the United States
Can this article have some page protection please - either semi-protection or edit-confirmation protection - as there's been persistent problems with vandals on it, and it's probably being influenced by current events in the US.GUtt01 (talk) 08:10, 17 January 2019 (UTC)

Wikipedia
Sir
I want to an article page title name changed by you.The article page is Sattari, Malda.I hope you moved the page Sattari, Malda to Sattari. The Wikipedia haven't an article page on Sattari name but it has redirect page.I hope you help me and moved the page with correct information and inline citations.
Yours Faithfully User:JMM000 JMM000 (talk) 16:35, 18 January 2019 (UTC)
- Done. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 12:11, 19 January 2019 (UTC)
- I'm not sure this was a valid request. The page that was at Sattari was moved first to Satari, Goa then Satari, and I'm not sure the reasons for this are clear, as the article still uses both Sartari and Sattari. Most of the references on that page use Sattari and sometime since this revision someone has done a search and replace to change most (but not all) occurrances of Sattari to Satari, even in the titles of the references. I think some further consensus is needed on what name the page now at Satari should use, and if it is "Sattari" then decide on whether this or Sattari, Malda is a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC, or whether it should be a DAB Spike 'em (talk) 13:01, 19 January 2019 (UTC)
- On further checking, the person who changed Sattari to Satari is a banned SOCK, and the person who requested this move has requested the same to 2 other people so seems to be hunting around for someone to do so, rather than making a formal move request. Spike 'em (talk) 13:07, 19 January 2019 (UTC)
- Spike 'em I think I got them back to where they were before anybody started moving them. JMM000. If you want them moved then go to Wikipedia:Requested moves. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 13:40, 19 January 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks, and I've changed Sattari to have consistent spelling in article and have reference titles reflect what the sources say (as some do use Satari). Spike 'em (talk) 13:54, 19 January 2019 (UTC)

- Hi, the talk page of Sattari still redirects to Talk:Sattari, Malda, so not sure where the correct one is (as I was going to start a discussion on the correct name there). Spike 'em (talk) 15:51, 19 January 2019 (UTC)
Dear, Sir/administrator I will request you to see Sattari page's original references/inline citations or informations because Sattari page title is originally related with 'Satari' title and then the Sattari, Malda page title is original related with 'Sattari' title. If you make my request, I will fill helped by you. An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Satari (Sub district). Since you had some involvement with the Satari (Sub district) redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you have not already done so. Spike 'em (talk) 23:07, 19 January 2019 (UTC)

Can you please reverse the deletion for my page (Washington County Northstars) I dont know why you put a speedy deletion tag on it, you should have just told me what to do so I could fix it. Please undo this Hockeywiz12 (talk) 16:13, 23 January 2019 (UTC)
- Hockeywiz12. It has already been deleted. In general high school sports teams are not going to be notable. See Wikipedia:Notability. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 17:07, 23 January 2019 (UTC)
You facilitated the move of Christian terrorism to List of Christian terrorist incidents. I strongly object to the way that this move occurred, and I'd like to discuss it here with you before escalating the issue. The page has long been a POV-battleground. The move was motivated by an underlying POV-pushing agenda. There was essentially no opportunity for discussion. This is the kind of controversial move that, at a minimum, should have gone through the WP:RM process. Please move it back (I would have done it myself, but I don't have the necessary permissions), pending talk page discussion. Thanks. --Tryptofish (talk) 23:36, 24 January 2019 (UTC)
- All I did was move it from List of Christian Terrorist incidents (note the capital) to List of Christian terrorist incidents. Anyway it's put back. No time to fix the double redirects though. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 23:57, 24 January 2019 (UTC)

Hello there, I removed the tag because it comes from a new user who has no contributions and is continuously trying to delete the page for no apparent reason. I contacted the user, WikiUser658, on his talk page to understand the motive behind the actions but got no response. I also requested protection for the page to avoid further vandalism. I would therefore very much appreciate your help and advice. Thank you. Lebsci (talk) 17:06, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
- Lebsci First of all putting an article up for deletion is not vandalism. You really don't have to do anything. If the article is judged to be OK then it will be kept. It isn't going to be deleted based on one persons request. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 18:27, 25 January 2019 (UTC)

Naomi Osaka ranking change.
I understand that mods don't want her rankings to change as it is not the date yet on which the ranking technically change, the 28th of January. What time is it ok to change the rankings: When rankings change on the wtatennis.com website, on the date in the US, on the date in the EST time zone or something else?
On other top 10 female tennis players I changed their rankings and the corresponding date as the wtatennis.com/rankings website has released their new rankings Sunday night. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Holdenpi (talk • contribs)

Administrators' newsletter – February 2019
News and updates for administrators from the past month (January 2019).
Interface administrator changes
- A request for comment is currently open to reevaluate the activity requirements for administrators.
- Administrators who are blocked have the technical ability to block the administrator who blocked their own account. A recent request for comment has amended the blocking policy to clarify that this ability should only be used in exceptional circumstances, such as account compromises, where there is a clear and immediate need.
- A request for comment closed with a consensus in favor of deprecating The Sun as a permissible reference, and creating an edit filter to warn users who attempt to cite it.
- A discussion regarding an overhaul of the format and appearance of Wikipedia:Requests for page protection is in progress (permalink). The proposed changes will make it easier to create requests for those who are not using Twinkle. The workflow for administrators at this venue will largely be unchanged. Additionally, there are plans to archive requests similar to how it is done at WP:PERM, where historical records are kept so that prior requests can more easily be searched for.
- Voting in the 2019 Steward elections will begin on 08 February 2019, 14:00 (UTC) and end on 28 February 2019, 13:59 (UTC). The confirmation process of current stewards is being held in parallel. You can automatically check your eligibility to vote.
- A new IRC bot is available that allows you to subscribe to notifications when specific filters are tripped. This requires that your IRC handle be identified.

A user
Greetings Have been wanting to speak with you but under different circumstances, regardless... GUtt01 is being troublesome, please look into it? Thatwasreal (talk) 06:52, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
- I've just seen this message, and I am not being troublesome. This user is under the belief that I am. They recently had a couple of reversions made against edits on America's Got Talent by me, for claiming that there was grammar issues, when they were actually introducing the issues. I am not looking for trouble, but I don't feel comfortable having him harrassing me for something minor - I don't think he understands that users can delete messages on their talk page without needing to respond to them. GUtt01 (talk) 07:38, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
- You are both being rather silly. Arguing over "Each" and "A". If the dispute is that bad take it to Talk:America's Got Talent, that's what it is there for. By the way for the other word being disputed try spelling it out in full and see if it fits. "over the course of it's history" becomes "over the course of it is history". Anyway, I see that the whole sentence has been changed a bit and looks fine as is. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 13:21, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
- I understand we should have taken it into a discussion on the article's talk page, but for some reason, I think they went overboard over minor grammar issues. Truth be told, I couldn't see sense in the sentence going "A season typically..." cause it just sounded wrong when you say it out loud. Anyway, I only hope he ignores me as much as I will ignore him - I just don't want the aggro and friction that disputes cause. GUtt01 (talk) 14:37, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
- CBW, this is so nutty, as I said before I wish we were talking under different situations. I have known of you a while! GUtt01 has been questioned on his / her page before about being difficult and troublesome. They are following me around on Wikipedia and changing things that I didn't put up carelessly - they are worthwhile contributions. I am quite qualified to work in journalism, tv, as a reporter, etc... Would you like me to enumerate what this user is doing? They don't understand Strunk's obviously. They fly "false flags" and say they are on here to benefit whoever when they are quibbling much of the time. I can show you four more things but this is enough for now. I am tired of it!!! Thatwasreal (talk) 23:33, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
- I'd ignore him. He's really got no reason to question people reverting his edits if they believe there is an issue or mistake being made. I found he made a minor edit that introduced a grammar mistake, when the sentence it was put into had been perfectly fine as it was. And... how can he say he has known of me for a while? That user only started editing at the beginning of this year. GUtt01 (talk) 23:38, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
Temp Semi-Protection required for The Grand Tour
I've taken a look at the history log of The Grand Tour, and I think it might need a temporary period of semi-protection - there's been some disruptive editing by IPs on that article, and I think some of the editors who reverted those would probably appreciate this being discouraged. GUtt01 (talk) 23:40, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
User name raises suspicions
I was taking a look at the history log of America's Got Talent: The Champions, when I came across a user with a name that raised suspicions. The user is called "Gottalentfan2019", and although they have only done a few edits, the name is too close to that of User:Gottalentfan, who was blocked for being a sockpuppet of another user who tried to circumvent their block, as per this this investigation. Could you check to determine if Gottalentfan2019 is not the same user using another sockpuppet, please? It just sounds to be too much of a coincidence, what with the similarity of names. GUtt01 (talk) 08:12, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
- I just too a look and saw the user was blocked - did I truly uncover a sockpuppet based on my suspicions? And if so, that quickly? GUtt01 (talk) 13:19, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
- I figured it was based on editing pattern and name. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 20:48, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
- Yeah, I figured the name was probably part of the reason - when I saw it, I recognised a too strong similarity to another that I knew had been blocked for being a sockpuppet. Hence my concern it was the same person circumventing their block again. GUtt01 (talk) 21:15, 20 February 2019 (UTC)
Temp Semi-Protection urgently required for America's Got Talent: The Champions
We need to stop vandalism on this page - there are multiple IP users editing it in a disruptive way, and all share the same nature of editing. I don't know what their game is, but we need to discourage this fast! GUtt01 (talk) 18:02, 21 February 2019 (UTC)
- Repeating the request - We definitely have a problem with disruptive editing on this article - the same person, under different IPs, keeps repeating the same style of editing without heeding any warnings. GUtt01 (talk) 09:33, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
- OK. Done for a week. You may get a faster response at WP:RFPP but here works as well.. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 14:17, 22 February 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks. I think this individual, hiding behind IPs, has a rather annoying knack for this. Let's hope he doesn't start doing this to other articles regarding talent contests. GUtt01 (talk) 16:57, 22 February 2019 (UTC)

Gregory Tony page move
Hi CambridgeBayWeather, I noticed you moved the page Gregory Tony (sheriff) to Gregory Tony, I listed this page at Wikipedia:Requested moves as the disambiguator may actually be necessary so that readers do not confuse the sheriff with the kickboxer with the same name as the only difference is the e being replaced with an é, and a hatnote may not be sufficient and it may be more appropriate to make Gregory Tony a disambiguation page in this case. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 64222368Z260O (talk • contribs) 20:07, 26 February 2019 (UTC)

Need help - Another user is provoking an edit war despite asking for discussions and consensus on a matter.
A user is provoking me into edit warring, despite asking for discussion and consensus over an element of an article that is central to the problem. On the article for America's Got Talent I rearranged a table to focus purely on who was the host and judges for each respective season of the TV programme, but the user wants to revert it into something else that is not only a complete mess but highlights the chair order of judges, when that factor is not part of the table's purpose. The user is beginning to fray my nerves, because I already added my argument to the discussion on the article's talk page, and they just aren't listening to what I am trying to point out. GUtt01 (talk) 09:06, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
- And now they are edit warring. I have informed they are doing that, but they just won't listen. I don't want to keep reverting, but I need an admin to stop things getting out of hand - I may be at fault, I don't know, but this has got to stop! I want to discuss the problem!! GUtt01 (talk) 09:09, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
- I have been putting in the Edit summary for him to stop reverting and open discussion, but he's not listening. The user is SportsFan007, and they were reported before for Edit Warring. Please help! He will not discuss the issue with me or on the article's talk page. GUtt01 (talk) 09:18, 1 March 2019 (UTC)
I sigh with relief - he's stopped now and entered discussion on the article's talk page. That's all I wished had been done. No action needed now. GUtt01 (talk) 09:34, 1 March 2019 (UTC)

- The RfC on administrator activity requirements failed to reach consensus for any proposal.
- Following discussions at the Bureaucrats' noticeboard and Wikipedia talk:Administrators, an earlier change to the restoration of adminship policy was reverted. If requested, bureaucrats will not restore administrator permissions removed due to inactivity if there have been five years without a logged administrator action; this "five year rule" does not apply to permissions removed voluntarily.

- paid-en-wp wikipedia.org has been set up to receive private evidence related to abusive paid editing.

Reviewing this - [3] - I came across an edit on America's Got Talent article with a user whose name is GTtfan2019. Although they have done one edit, this name is suspiciously similar to that of "Gottalentfan2019". It may coincidence, but this user's name has my suspicions questioning if the editor has created another sockpuppet. Could you check it out, if possible, just to determine if my suspicions are founded, or wide off the mark, please? GUtt01 (talk) 00:12, 7 March 2019 (UTC)

Unfree image removed - Rohan Fernando (geneticist)
Hi, I saw that you removed the pictures in the article "Rohan Fernando (geneticist)". I am new to Wikipedia, and I was wondering why these pictures were removed. Hope you can help me! THanks, N — Preceding unsigned comment added by ABG ISU (talk • contribs) 20:33, 7 March 2019 (UTC)
- ABG ISU. Rohan Fernando (geneticist) is a living person. So even though the two images may the correct fair-use rationale there is a good chance that a free image could be found. See Wikipedia:Non-free content criteria. One possible way is to contact him or the university to see if they would be willing to donate an image. However, them saying that the image here is OK will not work. The page would need a proper license on it or the would need to contact the OTRS with their permission CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 22:04, 7 March 2019 (UTC)
Wilkerson
He wants to be known as Stevie this year. Why did you move his page back to Steve? I'm just seeking a clearer explaination. Kunigunda987 (talk) 00:00, 9 March 2019 (UTC)
- OK. So who is Joe Trezza and what authority does he have over another person's name? For all we know Trezza could be playing a joke on Wilkerson. On top of that Twitter is not a reliable source for a BLP. All the references, but one, in the article Steve Wilkerson say "Steve". One of mlib references says says "Stevie" but the other mlib reference says "Steve". One a number of reliable sources use "Stevie" then the article could be moved. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 00:35, 9 March 2019 (UTC)
- Joe Trezza is the Orioles beat reporter from mlb.com. He was just relaying to his followers what the Orioles PR department said. Thank you anyway. Kunigunda987 (talk) 00:44, 9 March 2019 (UTC)

Underground Resistance
Hi, just wanted to say thankyou for the work you've done on Underground Resistance and related pages. You've done what I was hoping to achieve but got into a bit of a mess on the way and gave up, was going to contact an Admin today about it! Thanks again :) Altcurrents (talk) 18:01, 24 March 2019 (UTC)

Carlton Fredericks Website
You have protected the Carlton Fredericks page from edits at the request of the author.
The page relies for sourcing on a self-published, non-neutral source, Quackwatch.org. Quackwatch.org is the website of Stephen Barrett, and the article is by Stephen Barrett. Wikipedia's criteria for credible sources provides, "self-published media are largely not acceptable." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Reliable_sources#Self-published_sources_(online_and_paper). The site is also an advocacy site. It is a non-neutral source, which produces negative articles about individuals deemed by the website owner to be "quacks."
The page also repeats, verbatim, material from this source without quotations, a violation of Wikipeda's antiplagiarism policy. The sentence "A heavy smoker, he died of a heart attack at the age of 76." is a quote from Quackwatch.org. As written, the article suggests Fredericks died from complications due to smoking. In the context of the negative article, this sentence is offered to further discredit Fredericks' claims about health. No support is offered for this claim.
The article was edited to remove the smoking reference (unsourced and nonneutral) and to remove the citation to Quackwatch (a non-neutral, self-published source). (The edit also had the advantage of eliminating the page author's plagiarism.) An explanation of the edit was provided when it was made.
The author of the page persistently reversed the edits, without reason or support. To avoid Wikipedia's ban on edit warring, he switched from his logged in account to editing as IP and continued to reverse the edit. He then reversed the edit again and appealed to you to protect the page.
Please explain why you are preventing a correction of page that would bring it into compliance with Wikipedia's policies. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.156.100.193 (talk)
- You can note that QuackWatch.org is run though an advisory board of experts, so hardly WP:SPS. - Ahunt (talk) 15:49, 30 March 2019 (UTC)
Please see the definition of "self-published." Also, please explain the basis for the claim that an advisory board exists, that it is expert, and that it has reviewed this article. Finally, please explain why you believe this article to be neutral. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.156.100.193 (talk) 18:08, 30 March 2019 (UTC)
- Well IP I most certainly did not protect the page based on a request from Stephen Barrett. Are you making a claim that Barrett is editing as Alexbrn and as IP 82.132.229.89? If you think that is the case you need to go to Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations or stop making silly claims. Quackwatch has been found to be reliable for certain things and Ahunt is not suggesting that it/they have reviewed the Carlton Fredericks page. Wikipedia does not have outside organisations review pages. I protected the page due to the Wikipedia:Edit warring that was occurring. Finally, you are at the wrong page. If you think the material should not be included then go to Talk:Carlton Fredericks. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 20:54, 30 March 2019 (UTC)
No, I did not claim that you protected the page at the request of Stephen Barrett. I claimed that you protected the page at the request of the page author/editor, Alexbrn. I suggested this because the last entry before you blocked editing was Alexbrn's talk comment, "Last good." Alexbrn reversed the edit multiple times without justification, switched to IP to continue to reverse it to avoid being called out for edit warring, and apparently finished by calling upon you for help to prevent the edit, which you provided.
The Quackwatch article is a self-published source; sourcing from these is largely prohibited under Wikipedia policy. It is also a non-neutral source with respect to this topic, and the extensive reliance on it as a source makes the article non-neutral. You can tell that the Quackwatch article is a non-neutral source because the article is titled "A Critical Look at Carleton Fredericks." The author, Stephen Barrett, writes slam pieces on alternative medicine practitioners he deems to be "quacks." Both the use of self-published pieces as sources and non-neutrality are prohibited under Wikipedia policies. This was already pointed out in talk on the edit page and can be found in the edit history. It did not prevent Alexbrn from summarily reversing the edit. Reposting these comments on the talk page would likely not lead to a different result. (It should also be noted that the Barrett article has numerous mistakes, including the name of the subject.)
No one has suggested that Wikipedia has or should have outside boards read articles. The comment was a response to Ahunt's comment that Quackwatch claims to be run through an advisory board, which seemed to have been offered as a counter to the fact that the Barrett article is self-published and non-neutral. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 98.156.100.193 (talk) 13:07, 7 April 2019 (UTC)

- In Special:Preferences under "Appearance" → "Advanced options", there is now an option to show a confirmation prompt when clicking on a rollback link.
- The Wikimedia Foundation's Community health initiative plans to design and build a new user reporting system to make it easier for people experiencing harassment and other forms of abuse to provide accurate information to the appropriate channel for action to be taken. Please see meta:Community health initiative/User reporting system consultation 2019 to provide your input on this idea.
- The Arbitration Committee clarified that the General 1RR prohibition for Palestine-Israel articles may only be enforced on pages with the {{ARBPIA 1RR editnotice}} edit notice.
- Two more administrator accounts were compromised. Evidence has shown that these attacks, like previous incidents, were due to reusing a password that was used on another website that suffered a data breach. If you have ever used your current password on any other website, you should change it immediately. All admins are strongly encouraged to enable two-factor authentication, please consider doing so. Please always practice appropriate account security by ensuring your password is secure and unique to Wikimedia.
- As a reminder, according to WP:NOQUORUM, administrators looking to close or relist an AfD should evaluate a nomination that has received few or no comments as if it were a proposed deletion (PROD) prior to determining whether it should be relisted.
Susan Glenny (sports women)-page that was salted that is still listed as a draft by the creator

Airport articles
Regarding ft vs. m in airport articles, fair point. I'll keep the original feet measurements in the Infoboxes in my future edits. But that doesn't change the fact that articles which relate to countries using metric units should show metric units first, as per WP:METRIC. Getsnoopy (talk) 02:18, 12 April 2019 (UTC)
Please restore the page that you deleted
Hi there,
I created a page a few days ago which has been deleted by you because another page was already created before with the same information. I understand this and I completely agree with you, however, there is much information that needs to be corrected on the old page and I couldn't make any of those changes. The page was created from another account and unfortunately, I don't have access to that account anymore.
My client "Craig Huey" wants me to either update the information about him on the old page or create a new one. Can you please help me with this so that I can solve this issue as soon as possible?
If you could help me out with this then it will really great.
Thank you, Peter — Preceding unsigned comment added by PeterGuirguis10 (talk • contribs) 00:48, 16 April 2019 (UTC)
Redirection
Hi, it appears that you tried to create a redirect at List of defunct airlines of Republic of Fiji, but didn't do it correctly. I've fixed it now. For future reference, the correct redirect syntax is:
#REDIRECT [[target page name]]
You can check redirects with the Preview button before saving them. If you have created a working redirect, the preview will show the name of the target page alongside a bent arrow (or "Redirect to:" label in text mode). — Smjg (talk) 14:45, 27 April 2019 (UTC)

Administrator account security (Correction to Arbcom 2019 special circular)
ArbCom would like to apologise and correct our previous mass message in light of the response from the community.
Since November 2018, six administrator accounts have been compromised and temporarily desysopped. In an effort to help improve account security, our intention was to remind administrators of existing policies on account security — that they are required to "have strong passwords and follow appropriate personal security practices." We have updated our procedures to ensure that we enforce these policies more strictly in the future. The policies themselves have not changed. In particular, two-factor authentication remains an optional means of adding extra security to your account. The choice not to enable 2FA will not be considered when deciding to restore sysop privileges to administrator accounts that were compromised.
We are sorry for the wording of our previous message, which did not accurately convey this, and deeply regret the tone in which it was delivered.
For the Arbitration Committee, -Cameron11598 21:03, 4 May 2019 (UTC)

- In response to the continuing compromise of administrator accounts, the Arbitration Committee passed a motion amending the procedures for return of permissions (diff). In such cases,
the committee will review all available information to determine whether the administrator followed "appropriate personal security practices" before restoring permissions
; administrators found failing to have adequately done sowill not be resysopped automatically
. All current administrators have been notified of this change. - Following a formal ratification process, the arbitration policy has been amended (diff). Specifically, the two-thirds majority required to remove or suspend an arbitrator now excludes (1) the arbitrator facing suspension or removal, and (2) any inactive arbitrator who does not respond within 30 days to attempts to solicit their feedback on the resolution through all known methods of communication.

Hello
You have no right to move pages created by me. I will leave the wikipedia, I will no longer collaborate. Thank you Alvorado 12:29, 7 May 2019 (UTC)
- Alvorado I'm sorry you feel that way but things like List of defunct airlines of Republic of Panama should be at the common name which is Panama. In other words the same name as the country. We don't have List of defunct airlines of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland but we have List of defunct airlines of the United Kingdom which is the common name. Artist stubs
Hello! I thought I would drop you a note as I have been making stub articles on women artists, many of whom turn out to be from Nunavut. I found theses particular artists by parsing the permanent collection list of the National Gallery of Canada. I recently saw also that the Avataq Cultural Institute did not have a page, so I made one. As you live in Nunavut, I thought you might have ideas for improvement. I know that sounds like "Do you know Jack from Toronto", but I have a feeling you might have input. See the list on my user page. Thanks.ThatMontrealIP (talk) 16:25, 20 May 2019 (UTC)
