PM's Deputy

Just to let you know, Damian Green was the PM's Deputy by virtue of his position as First Secretary of State. He was also a Cabinet Office Minister, and it is only in that capacity that David Lidlington replaced him. Thus Theresa May does not have a deputy because both the office "Deputy Prime Minister" and the office "First Secretary of State" are currently vacant. Hope this helps to clarify the UK's chaotic cabinet structure. Thanks, GreyGreenWhy (talk) 17:51, 21 January 2018 (UTC)
- @GreyGreenWhy: Do you mind if I move this comment to the 'Read Before You Post' section of my talk page as a model for how people should write on my talk page? ChieftanTartarus (talk) 09:21, 22 January 2018 (UTC)
- Hi Chieftan Tartarus, thank you for asking and thanks for the barnstar, but I would rather you didn't do that because I personally don't want to actively endorse your personal talk requirements. I hope you don't mind, GreyGreenWhy (talk) 15:53, 22 January 2018 (UTC)
- No problem, thanks for letting me know and thank you once again for clarification on the other issue. Have a good day! ChieftanTartarus (talk) 16:06, 22 January 2018 (UTC)
Apology for personal attack

Apologies for what happened.
I was mainly going off what the other accuser said, and didn't actually read the article. Since I'm new to the site (WP:NOOB) I expected a screwup like this. Will not happen again. Hopefully this will be a constructive experience so I can avoid something like this in the future.

- No problem, thanks for the apology, Deletion discussions can get quite heated and people usually say stuff there that they wouldn't say elsewhere on the site. Apologies for accusing you of sock puppetry, I've just had a few vandals and sock puppets that I have had to deal with recently and your edit pattern made you seem suspicious. I noticed the addition of the TPS header and I'm glad that you're starting to grasp how talk pages work (you likely also understand why someone else replied to you on my talk page previously). About the request not to use dated thread titles above, I would just like to add that this is standard procedure for warning templates: new accounts with problematic edits receive plenty of those. Of course, these are rare on pages of more experienced editors, we also even have an related essay, don't template the regulars, that is by no means policy but which many appreciate. For edit warring and other important notices (WP:ANI discussions, article deletion, arbitrary sanctions notices), this is usually ignored. Happy editing, —PaleoNeonate – 18:23, 30 January 2018 (UTC)
Some advice

Hey man, I understand you're frustrated with Daimona reverting your removal, but template warning her for vandalism isn't the best way to communicate that to her, especially since I had already made it clear on your talk page that she was in the wrong. I'm not sure what your early experiences here were like, but it seems like you're kind of coming out the gate swinging on a lot of things (for example, I'm not sure why being auto-welcomed on Italian WP made you upset). I'm not the first user to have noticed this mentality either; there were comments about it at the ANI thread.
Ultimately, this is a collaborative project, not a single-player experience. Other users exist, and they are all human. Sometimes they do things that don't seem to make sense, or that you personally might disagree with. Sometimes they flat-out make mistakes. It's important to work together to find solutions to those things. The best way to figure things out is to talk to people, calmly, and ask them what's going on. Most of the time people are willing to explain themselves or work with you when you approach them like that. On the other hand, snapping at people with templates and accusations of harassment is a great way to make people defensive and frustrated, which usually results in the kind of lengthy, nobody-listens-to-anybody-and-nothing-gets-solved kind of discussion that happened on Legacypac's page.
Please try to work with other users, rather than fighting against them. It makes for a more pleasant editing experience for the entire community. ♠PMC♠ (talk) 10:14, 2 March 2018 (UTC)

- @Moxy: You're the only person whose actually had the capacity to be helpful instead of make irritatingly vague edit logs, thank you for being so kind as to clarify this to me. I wish the other editors had did the same instead of causing immense frustration with their edit logs. Chieftain Tartarus (talk) 07:54, 29 April 2018 (UTC)
- There is a way to get this info in the article.....search see if his hight gets him work....or makes him sexy etc... Then a sentence or 2 with stats that talks about how it's relevant with good sources .....look under Google book over Google search.--Moxy (talk) 07:57, 29 April 2018 (UTC)

Nintendo Switch GameCube Adapter
editThis refers to a specific product. In fact, Nintendo's "new" adapter is actually just a rebranded run of the Wii U version. This is about backward compatibility with an existing backward compatibility measure. ViperSnake151 Talk 18:54, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
- @ViperSnake151: Actually it implied that only the Wii U adapter was compatible and neglected to mention that any USB gamecube adapter actually works regardless of branding. Was badly worded at best and misleading at worst. Chieftain Tartarus (talk) 18:57, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
- The "other" ones are just off-brand clones of the Wii U one (same USB product ID/etc.) that is specifically recognized by the two consoles. Your broader statement is unsourced original research.. ViperSnake151 Talk 19:23, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
- How on earth is it unsourced? https://store.nintendo.co.uk/nintendo-switch-accessory/nintendo-gamecube-controller-adapter-for-nintendo-switch/11793689.html Its quite clearly called Nintendo Gamecube Adapter for Nintendo Switch. A simple Google would have sorted that for you. Don't lecture me on policies when they don't apply or pertain to an issue (I understand that USB adapter was rather vague, so have reworded to 'Gamecube adapter', however I don't feel this policy 'bashing' is appropriate). I do not wish to be harassed, I only dropped in when I heard about Stan Lee. Chieftain Tartarus (talk) 21:07, 12 November 2018 (UTC)
- @ViperSnake151: I have reworded the part in the main body to this (numbers in brackets are citations in the article): "The 4.0.0 system update enabled support for GameCube controllers attached via USB with the GameCube adapter that was available for Wii U as well as the upcoming adapter for the Switch[3], allowing the user to play games with a GameCube controller with most games compatible with the Switch's Pro controller such as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.[146][147][148]" I also reworded the part in the main box to say "via Gamecube Adapter" instead of via "Wii U Gamecube Adapter" or via "USB adapter" and cited both with the Nintendo website. I hope this compromise on wording will settle your objections. Chieftain Tartarus (talk) 21:25, 12 November 2018 (UTC)

- I explained thoroughly why I reverted the changes, but you have chosen to ignore my gesture. Sorry. I don't see any explanation, thorough or otherwise, as to why my edits are unsatisfactory. Merely saying you reverted something or warning someone is not an explanation. Could you provide the diff to your thorough explanation so I can read it. Thanks. 98.113.89.186 (talk) 00:23, 2 December 2018 (UTC)
- @98.113.89.186: "The mass-scale tagging of articles is wholly unnecessary and in many ways disruptive, especially when some of the tags have been placed where there is no merit. Such as on Janet Banana, as a First Lady of a country, that in itself makes her notable enough for an article and therefore the suggested move is also unnecessary. I understand that you are relatively new to editing here on Wikipedia, so I thought it would be helpful to give you a heads-up." You can also find this on your talk page under the initial warning, I've emboldened the part which explains why I removed your suggestion for a move. Chieftain Tartarus (talk) 17:03, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
- While we're on the subject, might I recommend you create an account rather than using an IP Address as well as it makes it easier for editors to assume that a user is acting in good faith (see WP:AGF) and is not acting maliciously. Thank you for your co-operation. Chieftain Tartarus (talk) 17:03, 4 December 2018 (UTC)
