Bot complaining about the split of Normalized frequency
Your bot complained with me because I had split the article Normalized frequency into Normalized frequency (digital signal processing) and Normalized frequency (fiber optics), but I did "acknowledg[e] the duplication of material in edit summary to preserve attribution history", as it requested. Could you make the bot not give such warning when the summary of the edit which copies material does link the source article? --A. di M. (talk) 18:29, 1 February 2009 (UTC)
Kenneth Francis
Wrong. The source is the London Evening Standard article "BNP man out over Ecuador girlfriend, dated 30 April 2002. The article has been used as all editors do as a source for writing. It is not a copy of the copyright work, but a synthesis of the information contained within it. The source has been correctly referenced. Emeraude (talk) 11:26, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
Unfair deletion of The Rocks, Inc.
I'm miffed at why you deleted The Rocks, Inc. from wikipedia.
All of the history text was original. (Feel free to contrast the http://www.rocksinc.org and my entry from The Rocks, Inc.
I uploaded the graphic from my own computer.

Annappes copyright
(Tagging possible copyvio of http://www.speedylook.com/Annappes.html) CorenSearchBot suggested i leave a note here. apparantly, when i translated a french wiki, the bot flagged it for copyright violation of speedylook (which was a translation of the french wiki) [1]. i dunno if there is a solution to the circular problem (i notice that web sites are presumed to own copyright to posted material) i did link to the french wiki, maybe adding a logic branch for translation template). pohick (talk) 03:02, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

As the other users above noted, the text used was copied for our Web site, to describe our journal. I wrote both versions. However, I edited the text on the wikipedia page so that it draws from the original, but does not copy it entirely.
Please let me know if I need to do anything else.

I moved Justice Dickinson's bio from Mississippi Supreme Court to his own page because of a request for split. I assumed that since the material was already on the Supreme Court page, it did not violate any copyright. Within seconds, the Jess H. Dickinson article was deleted. Now his bio is no longer on the supreme court page, nor does he have his own article. Help! --Rosiestep (talk) 01:04, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
- It looks like you accidentally ferreted out a direct plagiarism from the MS supreme court site; I am unfamiliar with the licensing that state places its governmental material under, and it might have been allowable, but it was definitely a direct copy. If you can find under what conditions Mississippi allows use of material it creates, we could be able to restore the contents. — Coren (talk) 05:08, 7 February 2009 (UTC)
Bot error
Hello, your bot got a little mixed up between two articles. One is called Daemisan (Chungcheongbuk-do/Gyeongsangbuk-do) and the other is Daemisan (Gangwon-do). These are two separate articles about identically named mountains in different parts of South Korea. Cheers! Waygugin (talk) 01:40, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
- I'm afraid a bot cannot be smart enough to figure out that two articles are legitimately very much similar. Simply remove the tags, and a human reviewer will see what happened. — Coren (talk) 19:53, 8 February 2009 (UTC)
Review board and rollback
I think your personal message would be more useful at the talk page, so have reposted and responded to it there. BTW, you appear not to understand WP:Rollback or to understand a version of it different from the one published. Am I missing something? Deacon of Pndapetzim (Talk) 00:03, 10 February 2009 (UTC)
- My mistake, I intended to use the Twinkle rollback which does ask for a descriptive reason instead of the bland non-message of the system rollback. I've addressed your primary point on that talk page. — Coren (talk) 00:09, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

400MB of manuscript maps two and a half centuries old can't be restored overnight, but this could be. Do let me know if Montcalm's battle plans can be found in the Quebec archives. It would be amazing to have that material from both sides. Best wishes, DurovaCharge! 19:48, 10 February 2009 (UTC)

Concerns at MickMacNee
Coren, can you address my concerns at User talk:MickMacNee. I'm concerned mostly because I think the comment in the block-log is not warranted (i.e. WP:NPA and WP:HARASSMENT violations), and will be especially damning admin-socially because you have recently become an arbitrator. If there are reasons why I shouldn't be so concerned, you can let me know. Thanks. Deacon of Pndapetzim (Talk) 20:30, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
- As I've stated on his talk page, I had not noticed that the drop-down default message for NPA block conflates with WP:HARASSMENT (even though it uses a disjunctive or, it's rather less than clear). I'm entirely open to making an annotation in the block log if MMN feels it appropriate to clarify the block reason (but I wouldn't otherwise add to his block log if he feels in unwarranted). — Coren (talk) 22:55, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
I noticed at the time that Tango reinserted the material you blocked me for adding to Giles Hattersley, but didn't think anything more of it, distracted as I was dealing with my own blocking. Now I've just seen elsewhere that you blocked him aswell. Subsequently reading the opinions at his talk page where he is unblocked after one hour, especially from other admins over what constitutes a personal attack, I am less than happy at how I got shafted over this incident, in which you have still failed to show I was intentionally attacking Giano - you seem to have absolutely no shame in levelling the same theory at Tango, an editor registered since Dec 2002, that you did to me, that the simple fact we are experienced editors that would have never seen a user's name linked in an article (I am still entirely unconvinced this is even true, especially for Wikipedia related text, but I have not researched it), we 'just should have known' it was considered a personal attack, blockable after no warning after making one edit/revert. Like I said, I would be willing to take it as 'ignorance is no defence' if this appeared in any policy text that I had just missed. And judging by his unblock request, he was not mistaken about what he was re-adding. So, quite clearly, you are attributing some malicious motive to me, that you aren't to Tango. Had I known of that discussion at the time, I have a good idea that things might have gone differently for me. It's not like I can do sod all about it now. MickMacNee (talk) 01:43, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
- It would not have, to be honest. Tango has made an argument that the reason he reverted the change was because the motive invoked to remove it in the first place was incorrect, which it arguably was, and did not intend to endorse or agree with the contents of the edit; this you could not possibly claim. — Coren (talk) 03:33, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
- His comment was about the entire paragraph, not just that line. It just suits your motives to interpret it that way. And ignoring this, I would still get blocked if I reinserted a blatant BLP{ violation, even if I said in the edit summary I had no opinion on whether it was a violation. If this was as clear a violation of NPA as you claim it is, there is no difference, his unblock request makes it absolutely clear. And yet still you attribute the worst motives to me without any proof. I could do the same as Tango and say anything about my motives, clearly that would be a waste of time. Bot editing logged out
It looks like CorenSearchBot is now editing as an IP, either that or it is being impersonated (see http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:Suspected_copyright_violations&action=history) - I don't know if you are already aware of this. —Snigbrook 16:20, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
- Hmm. "Amusing". This is the first time CSBot has run for so long without being reconfigured, so the login cookie timed out— and that possibility never occured to me. Fix't. — Coren (talk) 19:51, 12 February 2009 (UTC)
Apparent copyright of Warchild (Star Trek)
I've just had a message from your bot telling me that I have just "copied" the blurb from the book Warchild (Star Trek) directly onto Wikipedia. This isn't true - I wrote it directly from the back cover of the book, which is in front of me, and it is the same on Memory Alpha, as shown here. I certainly didn't intend to break copyright rules, but the blurb is the only thing I can think of to put down, as I haven't read the book in a while. Dave (talk) 16:36, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
- It's the same with Station Rage and Objective: Bajor. Dave (talk) 17:03, 14 February 2009 (UTC)
Creating a new page
I've tried to create a new page for the film Mike's Murder and I think the bot thought this page already existed - but the already existing page is about the soundtrack. I am not sure how to make the distinction clear, how to disambiguate and would appreciate help in a way. For example, on the wikipedia page for 'Hooked' , a book of Pauline Kael film reviews , when I click on Mike's Murder , I want it to go to the new film page and it goes to the soundtrack page.Sayerslle (talk) 21:24, 15 February 2009 (UTC)

Heather Neff copyright issues
I received a notification regarding copyright infringements for Heather Neff. An infringement was not my intent. I know Heather personally, wanted to ensure she received props in the Eastern Michigan University - Notable Faculty article. She referred me to her official website heatherneffbooks.com to draw in the history of her life to present. In building her wiki article, I copied the information from her website to the wikipedia article to begin whittling down to core information about her. It was during that process of whittling that I received the copyright notification. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Morlet63 (talk • contribs) 18:25, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Hi. I was in the process of moving "Dusting (inhalent abuse)" to "Dusting (inhalant abuse)" (correct spelling) and got a message on my talk page to come here (the maintainer's page). Hey Coren, sorry to bother you about this, but CSB has been listing some entries in the following format recently, and they aren't displaying as a link properly, which makes a bit of extra work for people processing the listings. If you could look into it, I'd appreciate it.

Regarding your ArbCom vote
A minor point of clarification which will likely not have any impact, but a few people have asked me about it. I asked NYB to change his vote because I believe that his statement supports an accept vote, not a decline vote.
However, as for whether I personally feel a case should be opened, I'm still rather torn. A full-blown has the potential to be quite nasty. Though I see your point that an RFC could be equally nasty.
I just thought it was important to make sure everyone was on the same page. Cheers. --MZMcBride (talk) 08:19, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
- In this particular case, the net effect would end up being pretty much the same (that is, if Brad switches to accept then the case opens). But if it makes you feel a bit better, I have every intention of making sure any case that opens would not devolve into a melee— something which is considerably more difficult to ensure in the freer format of an RfC. — Coren (talk) 14:23, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
