Speedy deletion of Thomas Talbott

edit

A tag has been placed on Thomas Talbott requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Julie Murphy

edit

Someone has edited "Julie Murphy" to refer to an actress in the film "Sleepay Camp II". I suspect there must be three people of this name. Do you think we need a disambiguation page? Ogg (talk) 07:05, 16 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Thomas Talbott

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Thomas Talbott, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Now that that is taken care of

edit

Though you're not so new, thought it might be proper to welcome you. Just took a look at your article on Talbott and "de-prodded" it. He is of course clearly quite notable, and your talk page argument was 100% correct, and should have been immediately decisive (took me a couple minutes to realize this myself though). In fact some trout-slapping (not you) might be in order. Anyways, keep up the good work!John Z (talk) 15:45, 26 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image of Matthew Rhys

edit

Hi, welcome to Wikipedia. You recently added an image of Matthew Rhys to the article about him. However, this has had to be removed, as Wikipedia policy generally does not permit images of living people that have not been released to Wikipedia under a free licence such as the GFDL or a Creative Commons licence to be used in articles. This is because such an image is regarded as replaceable – a volunteer has the opportunity to take a new photograph of the subject and to license it to Wikipedia freely. For more information, see "Wikipedia:Non-free content". Sorry about that. — Cheers, Truth's Out There talk 02:57, 9 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Peithynen - displaying Bardic Alphabet (coelbren y beirdd).jpg}

edit

Thank you for uploading Image:Peithynen - displaying Bardic Alphabet (coelbren y beirdd).jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. Image source problem with Image:Welsh-Americans.JPG

edit

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Welsh-Americans.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 09:01, 5 December 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Edward (talk) 09:01, 5 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for File:Welsh Americans.JPG

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Welsh Americans.JPG. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information; to add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia.

For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you for your cooperation. --ImageTaggingBot (talk) 00:06, 15 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Gathering Day

edit

I've left a query about the title of the article Gathering Day on its talk page. As you appear to be the principal author perhaps you would like to reply? I've no problem with the bulk of the article, by the way (although it could do with some individual references, for clarity), just the title. File source problem with File:Hereford Gospels - Gospel of St. John.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:Hereford Gospels - Gospel of St. John.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. Gathering Day (2)

edit

Hi. Just to let you know that I've asked the copyright team to check that the "Customs and rituals" section of Gathering Day, and article you created, to ask them to ensure that the article complies with the copyright terms of Hilaire Wood's page. However, I've also proposed deletion of Gathering Day as it appears to muddle two different things. Calan Awst takes place in August and Gathering Day in June (Midsummer's Day). --Stfg (talk) 10:26, 4 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
