Harrison College
editI have made the current "Harrison College" page a disambiguation page that contains links to both Harrison Collge (Indiana) and Harrison College (Barbados). Please refrain from making any further changes to Harrison College or Harrison College (Indiana), which is not accurate as we are located outside the state of Indiana. Miami/Public Ivy
editMoll's book was not updated in 2001. That was a similarly titled book that had no connection to Moll. Moll's book was a one-time deal, published in 1985 and not updated since. As such, it really is based on quarter century old data. Besides, using the past tense is grammatically correct in that the sentence goes on to state that this term was applied in 1985.
Huddleston House Tavern
editIs the Huddleston House Tavern on the National Register and the Historic Landmarks Foundation of Indiana's Huddleston Farmhouse Inn Museum one and the same?--Bedford 22:34, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
Yes. Since the National Register nomination was done, it was deemed more appropriate to call this property an rather than a tavern.unsigned by DIDouglass

Two of PKT's founders lived in the room in which PDT was founded?
editHello. On April 7, 2007, you added info to the Miami University page that indicated two of Phi Kappa Tau's founders lived in the room in Elliott Hall in which Phi Delta Theta was founded [1]. I was wondering where you found this information. I cannot seem to find it anywhere else on the internet. Bajenkins (talk) 14:57, 17 February 2008 (UTC)
Phi Kappa Tau Founders William H. Shideler and Clinton D. Boyd lived in the Phi Delta Theta Founders room in the 1905-06 school year. This information is found in Charles Ball's book, From Old Main to a New Century: A History of Phi Kappa TauDIDouglass (talk) 04:20, 18 February 2008 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Nancy Andrew
editA proposed deletion template has been added to the article Nancy Andrew, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? KenWalker | Talk 05:32, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
Dear DIDouglass, I note that you reverted the wiki link to Glen Miller, for whom the park is presumably named. It does not appear as a link anywhere else in that article, that I am aware. The link makes sense to me. However, before I revert this, I thought it would be nice to know your reasoning. Happy editing. 7&6=thirteen (talk) 16:46, 8 November 2008 (UTC) Stan
Stan--The park is not named for Glenn Miller the band leader. That Miller's name is correctly spelled Glenn, not Glen. The word glen in the park's name refers to a "wooded glen"--not a man's name. Miller comes from the name of the man who owned the land previously, I believe.DIDouglass (talk) 05:45, 9 November 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Really Cool Foods
editA tag has been placed on Really Cool Foods requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a company or corporation, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for companies and corporations.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. Goochelaar (talk) 01:41, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

Unreferenced BLPs
editHello DIDouglass! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 20 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. You are now a Reviewer
editHello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 03:18, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
Earlham College
editCan you please explain what makes you believe that this is a reliable source? I don't see how "Dan Tate's Blog: Commercial/Industrial Real Estate" comes close to being a reliable source for nearly anything, including historical facts about governors of Arizona. ElKevbo (talk) 03:30, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
The Tate blog may not be a reliable source. But I linked the name to his page on Wikipedia and there is ample sourcing there.DIDouglass (talk) 03:37, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
- Then (a) don't use the Tate blog and (b) copy one or more of the reliable sources from the other article. We don't use Wikipedia articles as sources.
- And try communicating next you revert another editor's edits. ElKevbo (talk) 03:42, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
- A blue link to an adequately sourced page is really all we need. I'll remove the other source as it is now superfluous.DIDouglass (talk) 03:49, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
- No, a "blue link" is most certainly not adequate. Our policy on Verifiability is explicit on this issue: "Articles on Wikipedia, or on websites that mirror its content, should not be used as sources..." Either copy over a reliable source or remove the addition; don't make other people have to clean up after you. ElKevbo (talk) 03:53, 23 July 2010 (UTC)

editI've been trying to clean up the Miami University article and I noticed that the section was added... do you think we should work this into the history section somehow? Nomader (Talk) 03:35, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hmm... I'm not sure how important it is though in the grand scheme of things for the school historical-wise. I think it's worth a mention in the history section but maybe not a whole two paragraphs like it has now. I'll see what I can do tomorrow if I get the chance but no guarantees I'll be around to work on it, I'm not exactly the most active editor as it were. Nomader (Talk) 05:31, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
Bix Beiderbecke
editWith respect, I undid your last revision on the Bix Beiderbecke article because it introduced a punctuation error, unnecessary links (as I read the Manual of Style), and unnecessary information for an article that I was told during the GA Review process was already bordering on too long. You are, no doubt, a more experienced Wikipedia editor than myself, so I'm happy to defer if you want to make a case for your edits. Best, Margo&Gladys (talk) 21:56, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
Looking for advice
editI see that you are a recent contributor to the Wikipedia article about Madison, Indiana. I just signed up as a Wikipedia user today. I am a retired software developer and web site designer who just moved to Madison. I am proud of my historic home and would like to publish photos and information about it. I'll bet a lot of Madison people feel the same way. I'm thinking of setting up some kind of social website (a facebook group, maybe?) where people can upload photos and stories about their historic homes. Probably there would be a discussion group or a wiki where people could debate historical matters.
There may eventually be some body of verifiable data of the quality that appears in Wikipedia. Is it crazy to think of greatly extending the Wikipedia coverage of Madison to include essentially every home in the historic district? On the other hand, I'm rather intimidated by the formality of the Wikipedia community. Maybe I should go my own way and build my own wiki, one that permits speculation and basically publishes whatever people want to upload. Does that sound like a bad idea?
This is the first time I've used this Wikipedia Talk thingy. I assume that it may be a long time before you look at it, but there is no hurry.

The article John Mutz has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

Disambiguation link notification for April 11
editHi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited List of Phi Kappa Tau members, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page University of the Pacific (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

editThe article Wyoming Community Foundation has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Small, non-notable charity, not even notable in the small state of Wyoming.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Bearian (talk) 22:14, 24 November 2020 (UTC)
