Format drift corrections
Hi. After viewing the history at Sophie Wilson (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), it looks as if I owe you thanks for tidying my dates. That format seems to be the default with ProveIt, but perhaps I can change it. -- Trevj (talk) 03:50, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
Hi, you don't seem to realise that you are changing the format of the original, this is the way The Times prints the dates concerned! Eddaido (talk) 04:02, 23 March 2012 (UTC)
- WP:DATERET states If an article has evolved using predominantly one format, the whole article should conform to it, unless there are reasons for changing it based on strong national ties to the topic. However, this is the Manual of Style, rather than policy. Previously I've used YYYY-MM-DD, because it's quicker than typing the month and is universally unambiguous. Unless I'm pointed to a policy directing me otherwise, I'll continue for the moment to used ProveIt's format - although I reserve the right to change to other format(s) of my choosing in the future. If an editor (or bot) wants harmonise date formats etc. then that's fine by me. Often there may be no established consistent date style in articles, and adding refs using citation templates takes enough time as it is, without getting involved in such issues. Sorry if this comes across as being uncooperative. However... if we're talking about Good Articles or similar then I agree that it's desirable to use consistent formatting, and would expect to pay a little more attention. -- Trevj (talk) 09:16, 23 March 2012 (UTC)

Hi, I recently raised the above point at Village pump resulting from a query I had from an edit you made. - It may be useful for you to invoke the British English|small=yes template on the talk page of an article at the same time as invoking Use British English|date=April 2012 in the article itself. Doing so causes an informative box to appear on the talk page and also adds the talk page to a non-hidden category Category:Wikipedia articles that use British English. Fast you are, young jedi, too fast in deleting adds But to be serious instead of fast delting it could be tried to find citation, I guess you would have deleted whatever it would have been even if Otto Habsburg himself had added it. Yo Mahesh
You removed my objective analysis, but you still retained some crap which previous editor wrote (on Yo Mahesh):
he joinesd csk in 2012 season and gave 22 runs vs kxip in one match,he is often regarded as one of the worlds worst bowlers,if there were razzies for ipl yo mahesh would bag all of them,yo mahesh is the worst bowler of all time.
This stuff is still there - written by previous editor. No references either.
Whereas, my objective and neutral analysis is removed? What gives? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 50.135.6.255 (talk) 19:54, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
- The "crap" was removed (not that it justifies an IP adding in original research that was not neutral); learn to read and understand the notices (and associated polices) that were duly applied on your talk page. Dl2000 (talk) 20:11, 21 May 2012 (UTC)
Ok. I still don't get why you felt that my addition was not neutral. I did understand that I did not provide references, which I will try to do with the next edit. But I tried to be as neutral as possible - and based my edits on several such Wikipedia articles I have read before. Editing their BirthDates in the Normal way
All I was doing was editing the birthdate in it's proper place it does not have to be in the British style format that we see in the U.K or any caertain European country on how they put it. Besides why change their birthdates into this mode instead of the normal birthdates that many of us are familliar with. I'm sure you have a reason for preferring the unreferenced material there now with what I had replaced it with, but you haven't given one in your comment to me, or in the page's revision history.59.167.126.21 (talk) 04:17, 28 July 2012 (UTC)
- Good point - have rewritten the lede to avoid the unref game comparison; the main point involved the game involved in the Blandowski engraving, However, editors (including anon/IPs) should at least explain themselves when changing lede, especially why unreferenced content is changed to other unreferenced content. (see WP:V, WP:OR). Dl2000 (talk) 03:18, 30 July 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for reporting this IP. The edits look like vandalism so I've blocked it for 31 hours and left a note; you might want to take a look at what I wrote. Hopefully that person will turn to more constructive editing but if not, keep reporting them.
Thanks for watching over our content. --A. B. (talk • contribs) 03:13, 30 July 2012 (UTC)

Your edit
[1] In this edit you claimed to "unify formatting". Your edit changed the format of the dates in the references. The article appears to have had a 100% consistent reference format before you edited. Could you explain yourself? Gimmetoo (talk) 01:50, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
- You are invited to refer to the Wikipedia style advice at MOS:DATEUNIFY which applies here. The changes on the article were mostly in order with that. Reference publication dates were not in compliance with either of the standard acceptable formats and so were corrected. Reference access dates, on the other hand, additionally have YYYY-MM-DD as an allowable format, but none of those appear to be altered in the article in question and so should remain consistent with MoS. However, the edit was only "mostly in order" because regrettably some leading zeroes remained in some of the dates - leading zeroes are not compliant according to the WP:DATESNO section. Those leading zeroes are now removed from the article, and some caution will be taken on future edits. However, it seems more efficient to make another scanning round to clean up leading-zero dates, as this likely needs to be fixed on numerous articles. Other than being more careful about WP:DATESNO in the future, thus endeth the explanation. Dl2000 (talk) 03:38, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
- There is nothing wrong with yyyy-mm-dd formats for the publication dates. They are a standard format. Per WP:DATERET, leave them alone. Gimmetoo (talk) 04:02, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
- Except that at least 50% of editors have already said these telephone numbers are inappropriate in ref lists. I'm starting to question why we have ref dates, anyway. How do they help readers? Tony (talk) 04:40, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
- What are you talking about? We have had numerous RfCs and a guideline. Gimmetoo (talk) 04:58, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
- You know well what I'm talking about. You seem to be conducting a menacing campaign, quite oblivious to WP:MOSDATEUNIFY. Tony (talk) 08:07, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
- The MOS says that any consistent date format is acceptable. The article was consistent yet it was changed. This is contrary to the consensus reflected in the existing guideline and multiple RfCs. Gimmetoo (talk) 12:26, 14 August 2012 (UTC)
- Bzzt. Wrong. By such "logic", formats like stardates, the Maya calendar, RickDates ad nauseam could be acceptable (WP:ANARCHY). MOS:DATEUNIFY clearly implies a consensus limits as to which formats are acceptable and in which cases. There is no proof that the current guideline establishes the validity within Wikipedia that "yyyy-mm-dd formats for the publication dates", ergo User:Gimmetoo is attempting to apply a selective misreading of the MoS. Dl2000 (talk) 01:05, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
- Are you sure you want to use "Bzzt"? Consensus is that yyyy-mm-dd formats are allowed in the references. It is one of the acceptable styles on WP, as numerous RFCs have established. There is nothing in MOSDATEUNIFY that forbids it. If you want to forbid it, then you need to get clear consensus for that and not continue to edit outside consensus. Gimmetoo (talk) 04:44, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
- The version until the last day or so did not mentioned YYYY-MM-DD (or any examples of that) as allowable until the "Access and archive dates in references" portion, after the publication dates. However, it looks like MOS:DATEUNIFY is currently in significant play [2], as is some recent discussion. It is probably best to wait and see how all that settles, but the all-numeric publication dates was evidently not a done deal before. Dl2000 (talk) 22:59, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
- The version until the last day or so simply said "Publication dates in article references should all have the same format" It was written so as not to limit the format. It showed one example only, using dmy format with abbreviated month; would that mean mdy format was forbidden, because it wasn't shown as an example? Or that unabbreviated months were forbidden? No, of course not. But I do take on board your point that examples using yyyy-mm-dd have been curiously omitted from these pages, leading some editors to forget about them. Ukrainian English
Hello DI2000. Thank you for your numerous edits with edit summaries noting Ukrainian English (en-UK). If you're after denoting British English the ISO 639 code you might be after is 'en-GB'! Keep up the good edits! —Sladen (talk) 08:32, 15 August 2012 (UTC)
- Hmm... probably though of the internet domains. Even [ISO 3166-1]] goes with GB (though it has UA for Ukraine). Probably most appropriate to describe with 639-1/3166-1A2 (e.g en-GB) as you suggest. Thx. Dl2000 (talk) 23:10, 15 August 2012 (UTC)

Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior
Mad Mad 2 has had that title internationally long before Blu-ray was around. It was a legit change. I was not "gaming" or whatever. The move proposal has already been lost. Thanks for not reverting my edits. Film Fan (talk) 17:27, 22 August 2012 (UTC)

Kirsty coventry
Hi i am new to wikipedia so thanks for the heads up. May i resubmit the entry citing references? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 196.27.113.22 (talk) 23:54, 5 September 2012 (UTC)
- If it was the recent entry, and if you have reliable sources, then note that the information added should be notable, and should not become too dated after a while. Also note WP:BLP policy. Dl2000 (talk) 04:03, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for that. Is the fact that Kirsty is engaged notable? Also that her fiance is her manager? I have a number of references including her twitter account online publications and printed publications (avaliable online)Which would be the "strongest" reference? an online publication or a printed one? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tony Seward (talk • contribs) 08:22, 6 September 2012 (UTC)
- The tricky thing with indicating engagements is that before long they either become marriages or they are broken. There is a WP:DATED element to them. However, it seems reasonable to include a mention of her manager/fiance based on sources, being aware that this situation will change over time. Regarding references, note WP:RS in general; newspaper or media sources (whether printed, broadcast or online) would tend to be seen a preferable over Twitter or blogs, for example, Also, are you related to Tyrone Seward? If so, please read through WP:COI as there are potential editing complications with that. All the best... Dl2000 (talk) 00:48, 7 September 2012 (UTC)
Thanks for your advice have located a source which confirms both the engagement and the manager aspect. Being related to Tyrone just means that my sources need to be verifiable. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tony Seward (talk • contribs) 11:23, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
Sorry i need help with referencing. Can you access my sandbox to check the entry? When i try and test the link i get an error and yet the article is their when I google "Kirsty coventry manager" Any advice to help me get the references straight? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tony Seward (talk • contribs) 11:34, 11 September 2012 (UTC)

WP:MMA
Hello,
i noticed you edited a Mixed Martial Arts page in August, but you haven't listed yourself as a Participant on the Wikiproject for Mixed Martial Arts pages. I've decided to try to drum up interest to get more people involved!
Kevlar (talk) 00:29, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
- Thanks for the invitation, but only tend to edit MMA articles for occasional bouts of countervandalism and style cleanups - not enough focus on the subject to warrant joining the project. Dl2000 (talk) 01:08, 11 September 2012 (UTC)
WTF???
Why did you send me a message about editing an article which I never touched? I haven't edited on Wikipedia in over 6 months. Check your facts before sending me BS like that, dude. Peace out. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.209.160.149 (talk) 05:03, 19 September 2012 (UTC)
- If you didn't touch the article, then someone else using your internet node did. There may be an account security issue, or simply a shared circuit. It may also be a good idea to create an account rather than edit anonymously, even for occasional edits. Dl2000 (talk) 02:37, 22 September 2012 (UTC)
Sweat Pea edit. This wasn't vandalism. At the recent Marillion concert at the Junction in Cambridge, Steve announced that Sweat Pea Tremendous was his new nickname as it was the result of Pete's name in an anagram solver. This nickname was readily accepted by the crowd and was used instead of Pete for the rest of the night. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2.124.192.105 (talk) 12:18, 20 September 2012 (UTC)
- Well it was something tossed into the article without explanation, sourcing or context, so the addition was still out of line as it stood. And this new nickname might not be notable, active or even remembered past next week. Dl2000 (talk) 02:37, 22 September 2012 (UTC)

Dates
sorry - your edit at Eastern Railway (Western Australia) maybe, but we try to stick to Australian usage and it 1 March is very un-Australian. I dont envy you folks just next door to big brother though, bet some usages across the border just stick on your side too.. cheers SatuSuro 14:45, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
- dont get me wrong - I am sure you are right - its just that sometimes the Australian english hidden cat doesnt always show on quite a few australian articles and now i realise I havent even looked at the date convention we tend to use before sending the message.. SatuSuro 14:53, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
- Fair enough - just that conventions seemed set at WP:DATESNO and WP:AUSTYLE. Perhaps had a stronger consensus been established in the past for ordinals within WP, there would have been a different outcome today. Dl2000 (talk) 15:05, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
- hmmm we could have a better wikipedia in a few ways on a few other areas... so much for the some of the preoccupations of the past that have not really benefited in the long run... SatuSuro 15:10, 8 October 2012 (UTC)
