Kinnegar railway station moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Kinnegar railway station, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three, to be safe. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 11:28, 29 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Meters. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, London, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. You completely changed the sense of the sentence from clientele who were the wealthy, the artistocratic, the bohemian, and artists, to artists who were "wealthy, aristocratic and bohemian". That is not what the source says. And it is not what The Cave of the Golden Calf says either. Per WP:BRD either discuss this on the article's talk page or leave it alone.   Hello Dr Ulster! Your additions to Annacloy have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 12:31, 4 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Suggested change

edit

Hey. I was just checking in on Magherascouse after I did the GA review, and I saw that you added "The first element of the place name means ‘plain’ and the most plausible explanation for the final element is, according to experience.arcgis.com likely to be a form of the word..." in this diff. We don't generally say "according to [this little-known website]." In my GA review, I recommended adding that it's according to a certain person. You can bring this up on the talk page, though. Cheers Cheers ‍ Relativity 20:56, 27 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Yeah I tried my hardest to find an author on the website that I referenced but couldn't. I'm considering changing the wording of that section, also, thank you very much for checking in again. Dr Ulster (talk) 21:31, 27 December 2023 (UTC)Reply

Ways to improve List of islands of County Down

edit

Hello, Dr Ulster,

Thank you for creating List of islands of County Down.

I have tagged the page as having some issues to fix, as a part of our page curation process and note that:

The article would benefit by being added to the relevant Wikiprojects. Note that some of the redlinks currently listed in the article contain typos - there should be a space between 'Island' and the disambiguating brackets. So, "Bird Island (Mahee)", not "Bird Island(Mahee)". Note also that the article is currently an "orphan" and needs to be linked to from other articles.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, leave a comment here and begin it with {{Re|Bastun}}. Remember to sign your reply with ~~~~. For broader editing help, please visit the Teahouse.

Delivered via the Page Curation tool, on behalf of the reviewer.

Thank you for your work on Magherascouse

I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for your work on Magherascouse. My Gibson ancestors are from this area, the oldest known being John Gibson and Margaret Kerr born about 1785. You gave me a much better insight into the area! Mrmcgibby (talk) 18:04, 1 December 2024 (UTC)Reply

That is wonderful to hear Mrmcgibby. I am so deeply interested in this page as I am from this area and my family have lived here for as long as yours have. I'm pretty sure I know some Gibsons which may be related to you, it's a small world after all. God bless you Mrmcgibby. Dr Ulster (talk) 22:59, 1 December 2024 (UTC)Reply
