DYK for Viola Roseboro'
On 7 September 2021, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Viola Roseboro', which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that after Viola Roseboro' suggested Willa Cather rewrite My Ántonia completely, Cather may have based the novel My Mortal Enemy on her? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Viola Roseboro'. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Viola Roseboro'), and if they received a combined total of at least 416.7 views per hour (i.e., 5,000 views in 12 hours or 10,000 in 24), the hook may be added to the statistics page. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

draftified
I restored and draftified Alireza Korangy to Draft:Alireza Korangy at the request of its author. It seemed obvious enough that i didn't ask you first, since asserting someone has published books other than self published is an indication of possible significance or importance. Thanks for uploading File:Margaret Petherbridge Farrar.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

Speedy deletion nomination of File:DAT logo.svg
A tag has been placed on File:DAT logo.svg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a file namespace redirect shadowing a page on Commons, and has no incoming file links.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Administrators will no longer be autopatrolled
A recently closed Request for Comment (RFC) reached consensus to remove Autopatrolled from the administrator user group. You may, similarly as with Edit Filter Manager, choose to self-assign this permission to yourself. This will be implemented the week of December 13th, but if you wish to self-assign you may do so now. To find out when the change has gone live or if you have any questions please visit the Administrator's Noticeboard. 20:05, 7 December 2021 (UTC)

How we will see unregistered users
Hi!
You get this message because you are an admin on a Wikimedia wiki.
When someone edits a Wikimedia wiki without being logged in today, we show their IP address. As you may already know, we will not be able to do this in the future. This is a decision by the Wikimedia Foundation Legal department, because norms and regulations for privacy online have changed.
Instead of the IP we will show a masked identity. You as an admin will still be able to access the IP. There will also be a new user right for those who need to see the full IPs of unregistered users to fight vandalism, harassment and spam without being admins. Patrollers will also see part of the IP even without this user right. We are also working on better tools to help.
If you have not seen it before, you can read more on Meta. If you want to make sure you don’t miss technical changes on the Wikimedia wikis, you can subscribe to the weekly technical newsletter.
We have two suggested ways this identity could work. We would appreciate your feedback on which way you think would work best for you and your wiki, now and in the future. You can let us know on the talk page. You can write in your language. The suggestions were posted in October and we will decide after 17 January.
Thank you. /Johan (WMF)

Anne McCaffrey Article
Helo, DragonflySixtyseven I am wondering why did you undo the change I did to the Portrait of the author on the article. Myself and others in the discussion page raised concern about that picture and believe that is not a good representation of the author. I choose other photo that was registered on the wikimedia commons that is not ideal in my opinion but at least is looking at the camera and show the person in a "better light". I am a new user and not familiar with the process for uploading new pictures to the commons so I choose one that was already there. But you changed it for the one that was before. Is there a reason for that? — Preceding unsigned comment added by CronistaRedans (talk • contribs) 06:10, 6 January 2022 (UTC)
Current Katherine Hoover article has numerous factual errors.
Hello DragonflySityseven,
Regarding:
draft:katherine hoover
Before I try to merge...
The current Katherine Hoover is full of factual errors.
I have verified this with some of my citations and an interview of the family. Still, draft:katherine hoover has citation problems that I don't know how to fix.
draft:katherine hoover citations
5 very bad links, 2 forbidden links to ASCAP which is a music ownership database like BMI. 1 web citation from a German site. With Katherine Hoover's death, the only source about her childhood is from her family. Another problem is citations of her honors and awards. I'm still searching.
Much of her career was pre-internet. please start with any question and I can supply all details that I have.
Or if you still believe I should correct the original by merging the draft into the original, I will do as you suggest.
Thankyou, AjAirFlex (talk) 04:02, 15 January 2022 (UTC)
- AjAirFlex advised on Talk page to copy/paste content from the draft into the existing article, and to NOT try to use interview information or content of KH's desk (her unpublished writings). David notMD (talk) 09:52, 15 January 2022 (UTC)

Hello, DragonflySixtyseven,
Just a head's up but if you restore a draft article that was deleted for being stale, CSD G13, after you restore the page, you need to make an edit to it, usually a minor edit, or the page becomes eligible for deletion again. There has to be an edit to the page newer than six months ago or it returns to G13 status and appears in categories like Category:AfC G13 eligible soon submissions. Most admins don't realize this unless they help out at WP:REFUND and do regular draft article restoration so this is just a note to inform you in case you anticipate doing more page restorations. Thank you! Liz Read! Talk! 00:25, 3 February 2022 (UTC)
Dave Bautista allegation
Hi DragonSixtyseven! I've made significant changes to these edits and wanted to further explain my reasoning.
I believe it was improper to write that Bautista was not on a list of those suspended. There is consensus that TheSportster is unreliable, as seen here, so the list they published should not be given any weight. ESPN never published a list at all, let alone highlighted Bautista as not being part of one. The addition of "incorrectly" because ESPN never repeated the accusation
also struck me as improper. An impartial description of the material is required, so we must not inject a qualifier based on the position that an allegation is only valid if repeated. In the same vein, since there was no response from WWE
that disputed the ESPN report, we can't neutrally describe the report as if it has been credibly undermined.
I understand your edits were from over three years ago and that you could have a different view now, but I thought I'd reach out to see if there was anything in the changes you'd like to discuss. Cheers! KyleJoantalk 22:02, 6 February 2022 (UTC)

- I'm sorry, I haven't been able to find that page in my deletion log — or, indeed, any indication that the Alpo Martinez article was ever deleted; could you be more specific about what deletion you mean? Otherwise, I can't comment usefully.
- Also, I should point out that even though an earlier version of an article on [X] may have been grossly inadequate or completely inappropriate, that has no connection to the question of whether [X] could ever be the topic of a valid Wikipedia article. DS (talk) 18:15, 6 March 2022 (UTC)

hey there, I'm hoping to get the old version of the Paragon Cause (band) page back up for editing. Editing of Max Clara's Wikipedia page
Dear DragonflySixtyseven, I'm Francesca P. a medical student from the university of Campus Bio-medico of Rome. Me and my 2 colleagues, Silvia I. and Letizia O. are doing a university project which consists in expanding an existing wikipedia page on a remarkable doctor of the past and we chose to work on the Max Clara's page. Since we have noticed that you are really active on that page, we wanted to notify you that we are going to do some significant changes on the page by using some articles from Elsevier (we have the permission of both the main author of the article and Elsevier itself for the use of images and content). We are going to get a grade on our work by our Professor of History of Medicine L. Borghi so we kindly wanted to ask you if you could not make major changes on our edits (we still have to publish them) for about a couple of weeks so that our professor can see our work and evaluate it. We put a lot of effort on our work but surely we are not perfect; we are well aware of the fact that there could be some mistakes (we are Italian so English is not our main language) and we would be happy if you want to correct them, but please (at least if you can) don't change too much the edits that we are going to publish, at least for the next weeks. Thank you very much for your attention, let us know what you think about it Great regards, Francesca Paielli (talk) 17:31, 14 May 2022 (UTC)Francesca Paielli, Letizia O. and Silvia I.

- Oh, was it? I don't often look at protection status on userpages. I also didn't see it as particularly spiteful. DS (talk) 16:50, 16 October 2022 (UTC)
- Addressing the spite issue: if an editor is blocked and you tell them that it's their own fault, that's spiteful, especially after all the vitriol she endured. Regarding page protection, it turns out I don't have ECP, which is why I couldn't reply to you there. Point being, your desire to send her a message, while perhaps well-meaning, was poorly chosen. Khrustalyov
For example, here's a movie named after him: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Khrustalyov,_My_Car!
And to a native Russian speaker someone confusing Khruschov and Khrustalyov [derived from the words https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%D1%85%D1%80%D1%83%D1%89 and https://en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%D1%85%D1%80%D1%83%D1%81%D1%82%D0%B0%D0%BB%D1%8C , correspondingly] sounds like... a foreigner thinking that John and Jon(athan) are the same name :) Strecosaurus (talk) 07:05, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
- I'm aware of the movie (although, I admit, only because I researched the term in the process of trying to understand your edit). Can you confirm that Khrustalyov was an actual historical person? DS (talk) 11:51, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
- Well, he really does belong to common knowledge (e.g. the movie title is readily understandable), for example here in the (Western) movie The Death of Stalin, he appears at 22:03 [feel free to delete this link once you see it] - f[]movies [dot] to/movie/the-death-of-stalin-37978/1-full - other than that and me recalling having seen him mentioned, idk, i'm not a historian... how to confirm a person's existence?.. [speaking of his mentions that I saw, i did notice that in many western sources he is confused with Khruschov, apparently because of the name similarity to the Western ear, but I assure you that is a mistake on the non-Russian-speakers' end, and a fairly ridiculous one to a native Russian speaker at that, on par with calling that Japanese song Sukiyaki etc - mildly racist, even :)] — Preceding unsigned comment added by Strecosaurus (talk • contribs) 20:15, 25 October 2022 (UTC)

- Neither "Khrustalyov" nor "Khrustalyev" gives anything useful on Google; however, using the Cyrillic string on ru.wiki gives a disambiguation page, which (via Google Translate) tells me "Khrustalev, Ivan Vasilievich - an employee of the state security organs who was on duty at Stalin's dacha on the day of his death. The phrase allegedly said by Lavrenty Beria to his driver, who allegedly turned out to be the namesake of Ivan Vasilievich ".
- This is sourced to a book whose reliability I cannot judge - and because Google Translate refuses to process the entire document all at once, I can't search through it for particular words.
- I'll try asking on the Russia wikiproject. DS (talk) 22:44, 25 October 2022 (UTC)

Trying to understand an image removal
I didn't notice it when it happened, so this is long after the fact. I'm trying to understand if I did something incorrectly, etc, as to what was behind an image removal. There doesn't seem to be any detail that I can find that explains it. Thanks for any enlightenment.

- The deletion log says "on commons as file:Tomb of Napoleon, Church of the Dome at the Invalides.jpg".
- I exported the file to Commons, and renamed it in the process (because "ME2-DSC_8830" is not a useful filename). Then, because we don't need two differently-named copies of the same file, I deleted the original on enwiki. That's all. DS (talk) 18:59, 4 December 2022 (UTC)

The situation we discussed
Hello DragonflySixtyseven and happy holidays, thanks again for your discussion a couple weeks ago and as we discussed I made an AE appeal. While you'd asked me about and looked into the situation and we went over some of the false and misrepresented accusations, I expressed that the imposing admin would defend their decision regardless. Now on the AE appeal, they did that but unfortunately made it clear again they mixed up what the accuser, who created the original AE report, did with what I did; tied together disparate events; cast aspersions; and entirely left out what my argument had been based on on the original AE section.[1][2]
I'm not asking you to make a statement unless you care to, but considering you understood the situation a lot better than the imposing admin does, why is it that reality can be distorted in justifying a decision? We know from the imposing admin's words that they didn't understand the situation before and after making the decision. I've told you the 6-month topic ban itself is not an issue, but AE report contained false refuted accusations and the decision was based on missing and mixing up the facts. I think most of us hold Wikipedia to a much higher standard than other online communities. The precedent this and many similar situations, including a currently active AE section by an accuser making misrepresentations and false claims, sets is concerning and disappointing, and I hope whichever body is responsible can eventually move it in a correcting trajectory.
