I got them to bring it back under http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Journaldiction/DJ_Warrior so a proper decision can be reached, as Wikipedia is known for it's consensus rather than its credentials, haha ;), is it possible you could leave a short comment on the discussion stating that you approve of the entry being kept as it is notable and official or something along those lines ? Thanks Sanchez. --Journaldiction (talk) 06:25, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

I think you've stepped over the WP:BITE line, ESanchez013. It's pretty evident that Sebastian was doing what he thought was right and good for Wikipedia. Though misguided, not one of his introduced pages reads like vandalism. Take it easier, much easier, on the misguided newbies. Sebastian's going to become a great football editor, I can just tell!  X  S  G  07:00, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, I guess you're right. I've apologized. He just has to watch those AFDs. ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 07:18, 25 September 2008 (UTC)
Agreed. I know it's frustrating to have to clean up some of his mess, but his comments tell me that once he understands WP's policies and guidelines he'll be an asset. His heart is in the right place: he just wants to share information!  X  S  G  07:21, 25 September 2008 (UTC)

Can you help watch this article for me? I can't monitor this closely as I am in an internet cafe and I can't log-in lest some keylogger grab the password to my username. I have already reverted to the article's stubbed version. Please warn the user should they continue to add copvio text and remove afd headers.--58.69.149.127 (talk) 06:18, 26 September 2008 (UTC)

Why deletion?

You tagged Yacht Club of Lübeck for speedy deletion. Are all the articles about Yacht clubs (Category:Yacht clubs) in Wikipedia going to be deleted? If so, why delete a German one and not all the British, American, Canadian, Australian and Spanish ones? Please justify.Xufanc (talk) 04:16, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

  • This Yacht Club has a non yet written link in German Wikipedia [1] where it is included as one of the well-known yacht clubs of the world in the list "Liste bekannter Yachtclubs ".Xufanc (talk) 04:28, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

To directly answer your concerns: 1) You kinda banned me from your talk page. That's why I don't answer. It's not the place to go back and forth at the SOCK discussion. 2) Accusing me of stalking is a pretty big thing, don't you think? 3) Are you calling Mother Niggle's edits your edits? That's the only edits I've reverted so far. Doesn't that tell me you're his sock? 4) You are being uncivil. Calling me a five-year-old that tattles is highly inappropriate of you. I don't condone this type of behavior. 5) I sometimes wish I could be here 24x7, but unfortunately, I don't get paid for this and must go out into the real world and earn a living and continue my studies.

Now, I'm not one to take WP super seriously and have to continue arguing these childish things with you. You seem to want to get me infuriated and go Hulk on here; it's Wikipedia, for goodness' sake! Don't like what I did? "Ha-ha! I'll show that idiot who's boss!" Ok. Thanks for the show. Now, in the good words of my favorite female singer, "you put on quite a show... it's over now" (Rihanna, Take a Bow, 2008). Let the admins deal with it. Lord knows I want no part in it.

Now, I won't ban you from my talk page. Go ahead and reply. Go tell the world of how you tread through scorching deserts, crossed the mightiest rivers, endured the toughest storms, and fought the most ferocious beasts to defeat ESanchez013! ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 08:58, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

I'll respond in order.

1- First of all, I meant respond to me on the crappy sock puppet page. And a simple question my good sir, if me "banning you" from my talk page meant so much, why'd you have the courage to post the talkback template? Nice contradiction there, slick. 2- Is it a big thing? The only reason you put in a wikiquette alert and a sock puppet alert about me is through aggravation because I was "mean" to you. 3- When did I mention Mother Niggle in that? I was talking about your act of bravery, by adding evidence to the sock puppet page yet completely ignoring my comments there. 4- You are being uncivil as well. No matter how hard you try to cover it up, you know as well as I do the sock puppet page is nothing more than a pathetic personal attack. You are trying to be an admin when you know nothing about what is going on between me and other editors, which is why you choose to ignore any points I make, because you know they're correct. 5- That's a nice life story there, thanks for sharing.

Now in response to your incivility you posted after that list, I am sorry, but I don't listen to female singers. The phrase "you put on quite a show... it's over now" actually applies a hell of a lot more to you than it does to me. You're the one who was angered by the fact that your wannabe-admin attempts in a situation in which you had no knowledge of (me and lonely beacon) failed. You're the one who's trying to be someone he's not and failing at it. You're the one who is so angered by the fact that I didn't roll over in your presence you created two alerts about me, both of which you ignored my comments (how courageous). Your attempts are sad and pathetic. You're trying to fill your self-fulfillment jar I see, yet are infuriated at the fact that acting like you know everything on Wikipedia only leaves it empty. Ghost109 (talk) 18:04, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

(Please indent next time) Well, didn't I just say the SOCK discussion is not the place to have a discussion? And, the Talkback template is directing you to comments made on my user talk page, and I added no real comment to your talk page. If you don't like the way I do things here, it's okay. I have no more to discuss with you on this matter. You voiced your opinion over on the SOCK discussion page saying I'm an idiot that's attacking you. Why keep going and going and going, and restating the same thing over and over? "You're partial; you hate me; it's 'cause you lost; it's 'cause you're a wanna be admin; it's this, and that and blah blah blah." Ok. Thanks. I'm ignoring your comments because I don't want to get pushed to a limit. Like I've said, this is Wikipedia; why stress over volunteer work? Please. ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 22:59, 27 September 2008 (UTC)

<Getting to Know You>

In regards to my pages Imagine Canada and Thanks and Giving. Okay, obviously I'm new to Wikipedia postings and have things to learn. I know you're doing your job but it is so annoying to go through process of learning and adding relevant information only to be tagged for deletion when it is a legit posting. A shame as there are already similar organizations with almost the exact type of information on wikipedia. I doubt I'll bother contesting the deletions, etc. as I work for a nonprofit organization that doesn't have the capacity (financial and human resources) to jump through all the legalities. A shame, as it's only punishing others from accessing this information. Sorry for the rant, but here it is. Wikipedia means: user interface but not user friendly. I never expected Wikipedia to be so archaic (considering how Social Media is changing how information is exchanged now). Sorry, I'm just frustrated. Regards, Marnie Grona aka SereneVistas.

Please remember that the TALKBACK template should not include the < and > signs as the banner atop my page says; in addition, it's only for messages on your talk page meant for me, like I've just now used for you, because the reply is HERE, not THERE.
Now, I don't understand. Are you saying I was BITING you? Sorry about that. The thing is, the template asks you not to remove it and you did. I must follow policy. Now that you are saying that you are working for that non-profit, you must understand that this is a violation of conflict of interest. Our mission here is for anyone to be able to edit, not to invite people to edit and then bully them. There's a thin line between good and bad edits (in my belief). The reason I had to tag it is because that text is only advertising in the way/tone it's written; you are welcome to contribute it if you are not a Conflict of Interest. You may request for a neutral third-party to write it for you. I hope you understand this and continue to edit. Thanks. ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 04:24, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

Thanks for your explanations. I understand that once things are on Wikipedia anyone can edit. I am completely comfortable with (and hope for) that. I just wanted to get the basic information up there in the first place. As for the conflict of interest, I can understand where Wikipedia stands on that as well (but again annoying for the first time user). I would rather there be a waver of sorts that if one is from an organization (where perceived conflict of interest may be) that if the entry is done in the "Wikipedia" way it's okay. Because really, an organization will provide the most "accurate" information to begin with. From there it is up to the public to expand and edit. Cheers. SereneVistas 13:45, 30 September 2008 (UTC)

AfD nomination of New Brooklyn

An article that you have been involved in editing, New Brooklyn, has been listed for deletion. If you are interested in the deletion discussion, please participate by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/New Brooklyn. Thank you. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? CyberGhostface (talk) 03:11, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

Concerning the dubious motives of user: Mr. E. Sánchez

New Brooklyn as a film is a collaboration of many notable entertainers (please refer to imdb if this is doubted), Matt Cavenaugh, for instance, will be starring in the lead role of the Broadway revival, West Side Story. The same goes for Blanca Lewin, Pablo Cerda, Frank Nasso and Frank Harts. To eliminate their collaborations would be to deny the truth of their followings.

  • Has had significant roles in multiple notable films, television, stage performances, and other productions.
  • Has a large fan base or a significant "cult" following.
  • Has made unique, prolific or innovative contributions to a field of entertainment.

It seems that in the "speedy" deletion, the user failed to research sources, several of which have been published in journals with readership in the millions (El Mercurio and Cosas (Chile)).

There also seems to be a bent prejudice here to works which are quite notable to those who are not of the provincial mindset.

The is no evidence that this user made a valid attempt to follow Wiki protocol before marking this article. The proper steps include: If an article does not explain the notability of its subject, try to improve it by:

  • Rewriting it yourself
  • Asking the article's editor(s) for advice.

Insufficient sources If an article fails to cite sufficient sources:

  • Look for sources yourself
  • Ask the article's editor(s) for advice on where to look for sources.
  • Put the notability biographies tag on the article to notify other editors.
  • If the article is about a specialized field, use a tag with a specific WikiProject to attract editors knowledgeable about that field, who may have access to reliable sources not available online.

The user Mr. E. Sánchez, failed to attempt any of these steps. This leads to the conclusion that the user favors quick deletion over true editorial research. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Newbrooklyn (talkcontribs) 21:32, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

It was not my job to make your Conflict of Interest a notable piece of inclusion. If that were the case, anyone could write a little teeny tiny stub and sit back sipping Coke and say "Ha! Let those other suckers do all the work!" If you wanted attention, you should've either told me what you wanted done to see if I (or someone else) could help you, or just stuck Wiki tags 'till the cows come home. I don't believe I should (and maybe I'm wrong for this) help out Conflict of Interests. So, please, don't come here and say "this idiot doesn't care about my article; hang him". Look for sources yourself before introducing this article into the namespace. ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 21:47, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

WP:PROD

It's not compulsory to explain removing a prod tag. Have a look at WP:PROD. It's a courtesy and it should happen, but it doesn't warrant comments like these ones. Orpheus (talk) 16:47, 1 October 2008 (UTC)

I thought the courtesy was to notify of the removal of the PROD, and it was necessary to note a reason in the edit summary.
  1. Remove the {{dated prod}} tag from the article, noting this in the edit summary. Editors should explain why they disagree with the proposed deletion either in the edit summary, or on the article's talk page.
  2. As a courtesy, notify the editor who initiated the PROD by placing a {{Deprod}} tag on their talk page.
But, okay. Thx! ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 21:34, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
Key word there is "should". It's a bit of a violation of WP:CIVIL not to state a reason for deprodding, but it's never been compulsory. I frequently have to remind myself that WP:BITE especially applies to people unfamiliar with wikiquette. Orpheus (talk) 04:43, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
I see where you're coming from now. So, should that happen again, should we go to AfD? ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 07:53, 2 October 2008 (UTC)
Basically, yes - if a prod is removed for any reason apart from obvious vandalism (and it has to be very obvious, like replacing the whole page with HAHAHA MY FRIEND IS GAY) then it should go to AfD. The idea behind prod is to simplify completely non-controversial deletes that don't meet any of the speedy criteria. If one person objects, it's automatically controversial enough to warrant a discussion. Orpheus (talk) 15:37, 2 October 2008 (UTC)

Mr. Sanchez - Need Help

My Wikipedia entry for What Would You Say To The president was deleted. I did read the criteria for posting and felt as though the post remained within those guidelines. What Would You Say To The president is no different than MoveOn.org or any other non-profit that has a wikipedia entry. Please let me know what changes need to be made in order to have my entry posted. Thank you.

(Politixx (talk) 04:07, 3 October 2008 (UTC)Politixx

Well, I tagged it because it was:
  1. Written in an overly promotional tone
  2. Full of external links (as I remember it)
  3. Lacking exclamations of notability
Since I don't have access to what it said, I'll ask the deleting admin to tell me why he/she chose to delete it, and they can point out what made it seem that way. I'll ask him/her to respond here, and you can read his/her response. Please check back, unless they decide to use a TALKBACK template. Thx! ←Signed:→Mr. E. Thanks OriginalCyn3000 please email me @

I try to resolve issues using the standard User talk system here. E-mails are a last resort. If you'd like to email me, use the link on my user page or the top right-hand icon of an envelope with an arrow to send me an e-mail. (or just click here)
Now, I don't know what you mean by "mail". The messages? You have a lot of those. Apparently, many of the articles that you created seem to have come across as "non-notable". I tagged some of yours with PROD tags. If you disagree, you can go ahead and remove them, and we can have a more active discussion about this. Please be sure to note why you disagree either in the talk page or the edit summary.
The most recent messages I saw on your talk page are about "fair-usage". There are certain rules that apply to using pictures in articles. So, if you continue to replace non-fair use pictures, you can be blocked.
I hope this answers your questions. Please let me know if you need any more help. ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 21:49, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Maya religion

Hi Mr. Sánchez, over the last few days, I have been cleaning up the messy article on Maya religion, and I try to work as constructively as I can. The references are still to be updated.77.162.130.139 (talk) 11:28, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Before you introduce this text, you must have some type of references. (You must've gotten it somewhere, no?) Otherwise, it's just unverified claims and will be reverted. In addition, make use of "Edit summaries" so that editors know what you are doing. ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 11:34, 5 October 2008 (UTC)

Vandalism on mersenne prime page??

In no way did I attempt to vandalize the page. I simply deleted a portion of text which looks like overkill for the opening paragraph. The important parts of that text are already covered in later sections of the article too! 194.237.142.7 (talk) 09:28, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

Okay. You have to understand that there's many IPs that delete chunks of text. I saw "GIMP" and I thought it was a derogatory name for someone/thing. You can undo my edit, if you so like, and I would like to ask you to leave a little note over at the article's talk page explaining your deletion, just so someone else doesn't see the same mistake I did. Cheers! ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 09:31, 8 October 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the fast reply! I do realize that my edit summary should have been better. I will make a better edit. Cheers! 194.237.142.7 (talk) 09:33, 8 October 2008 (UTC)

James Potter and the Hall of Elders' Crossing (Film)

James Potter and the Hall of Elders' Crossing (Film)

Mr Sanchez I think it is wrong that you will go to such lengths to have a page removed for something that you believe is not a notable film, this film is running with a very notable piece of fanfiction by G Norman Lippert and almost everybody who does know about the work of fanfiction by Mr Lippert knows about this film and Mr Lipperts fanfiction is noted enough to have its own wikipedia page Also the film is NOT a "home project" there are people from around the world working on this film. I'm very sorry if you are a kind of person who believes something noticed by thousands of people across the internet is not noticeable and I am very sorry that your brain capabillities do not allow you to see that a film does not have to be on at the cinema's to be noticable. Rest assured Mr Sanchez this article will remain on wikipedia I will soon be posting on the Grotto Keep (JP Official Forum) about this and I think that nearly every member of that forum and many that are not a member of that forum will be here defending this page.

Thankyou for reading this

I'm Starting to Get Annoyed

Mr Sanchez I have proof that I have not created puppet accounts and I will be willing to show any admin who sees it neccessary but I see no reason in having to explain anything to you as you are not an admin. I feel that you are personally attacking me for taking a different view on the JPHEC film and I will be taking further action against you if it is possible on wikipedia. Crazyla112 (talk) 07:47, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

Okay. If you didn't make any sockpuppet accounts, that's good. I just thought it to be weird. But anyway, no, I'm not attacking you. Obviously, everyone on here will have a different point-of-view on matters. That's what it's all about here. Also, you're making it sound like I'm inferior to an administrator. There's just a few things I can't do that they can, but we're all editors. Remember: "it's no big deal" to gain administrator status. I don't know what actions you want to take against me. If you have a problem with any of the ways I handled things, you can always use the Dispute Resolution and receive input from other Wikipedians (some of them Administrators). Maybe I shouldn't have jumped to conclusions too soon. Before you go around the block saying I'm wrong at suspecting anything, please see this essay regarding "Single-Purpose Accounts". Please know that Administrators block sockpuppets when they deem it appropriate, and there are a few (14 of them, I think) editors with a special tool called CheckUser to see exactly what IP address was used to create an account and edit with it (but only for very special cases is Checkuser employed). These guys are all administrators at the moment, if I'm not mistaken. Cheers. ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 09:39, 11 October 2008 (UTC)

UCAR Carbon Company

Hi- I believe there's been a misunderstanding over my entry on UCAR Carbon Company. UCAR is still it's most widely recognizable name; GrafTech is a new name change for the company. UCAR should perhaps redirect to an entry on GrafTech, but there needs to be some type of entry up in the meantime. UCAR is a very large company owned by DOW chemical's subsidiary, Union Carbide. It's vital that the public be aware of their connection to Union Carbide, a notorious chemical company, so they can make informed decisions about their purchasing habits. This information can be proven (on Union Carbide's own history page), and needs to be more widely available. natethewriter (talk) 17:22, 17 October 2008 (UTC)natethewriter

What you've added is not "Common/General knowledge". You are adding to the biography of a living person. Common knowledge is something like water is known as H2O, not Johnny the Pirate holds a PhD in oceanography from the Caribbean School of Fish and Chips (all fake, of course). Clearly, you must have gotten from some place that he attended whatever high school or college. Whenever we add information to the biography of a living person, the information should be cited for "legal and ethical reasons". In addition (as I have stated before), this new text could be challenged at any time. Please read the policy on living persons' biographies and this one regarding all citations. Since your additions are not cited or sourced, I am removing them per the quoted policies WP:BLP and WP:CITE (specifically WP:GRAPEVINE). ←Signed:→Mr. E. About the article "Intelligent Agent Based Digital Preservation" and my username

Dear ESanchez013 ,

First of all, thank you very much for your great efforts on maintaining Wikipedia.

I created an article "Intelligent Agent Based Digital Preservation". It is to introduce a novel technology for digital preservation based on an EU-funded research project called PROTAGE. But, unfortunately, it has been deleted many times. I do not know why this page is not suitable for Wikipedia, because Wikipedia has already had quite a few similar articles for introducing projects in digital preservation. Here are several examples:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CASPAR_digital_preservation_project

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planets_Project

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DigitalPreservationEurope

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_Curation_Centre

Actually, our PROTAGE is a sister project of the above ones. They all are funded by the EU Commission.

If you still think the article I created is not suitable, could you please tell me how to modify it so as to make it acceptable to Wikipedia? Or, please give me some hints to modify it.

Best regards,

Protageagent Protageagent (talk) 10:34, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

I have asked User:Oscarthecat to tell me/you why it's been deleted. I'll go ahead and tell you that I tagged it for deletion because I thought that it did not meet the guidelines for inclusion in the form that it was written. It did not tell why it was notable, and the way it was written seemed to me like it was just an advertisement. He might be able to give more detail, though. ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 10:39, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
Protoageant - please take a look at the wikipedia notability guidelines, as suggested above and at WP:ORG. Also if recreating the article, please ensure that suitable sources and included. The other articles you mention are better than the newly-proposed one, also some of them need some attention (I've added appropriate tags). The mere fact that the others exist doesn't necessarily mean the newly-proposed one should exist (WP:OTHERCRAPEXISTS). Hope this clears it up. Regards, --Oscarthecat (talk) 16:14, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Tomasz Borkowy

Okay - why have you suddenly slammed a tag on my article- when I've literally just started writing it? It took you 8 minutes from the creation of the page. I've put an inuse banner on it to show that I'm currently wrting it - although your edit conflict didn't help when I tried to post a bit more of it. I've now had to leave the article, which I'm in the middle of researching to come and talk to you. --Tuzapicabit (talk) 11:06, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Right. Well, it didn't really say anything other than "this guy appeared on Doctor Who" when I read it. It also lacked citations. You should have really stuck that UnderConstruction tag on it to begin with. Please tone it down, though. I am sorry if it caused inconvenience to you. ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 11:10, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
Okay, but you need to check the edit history before you go to measures like trying to get articles deleted. With one edit of just 8 minutes earlier - of course it had just been started. At least wait a few days before you consider that it's not worthy. I have put an inuse tag on it now, but let me pause for breath. Please try to be less trigger happy when people are trying to be creative. Thank you. --Tuzapicabit (talk) 11:19, 13 November 2008 (UTC)
Having now been disrupted, I've gone off on a tangent - looking into your edit history and I see you seem to be a new article patroller. Well, I would direct you to this: Wikipedia:New pages patrol and in particular; Patrolling new pages. Jumping on brand new articles which are not vandalism "only serves to annoy the editor". If you want to patrol new pages - go back to the start, having had a look - the New pages section goes back to 14 October - rather than attack articles which have been created in the last few minutes. I have now lost track of the article I was writing so I'm going to take a break. Please consider your actions more carefully. --Tuzapicabit (talk) 11:50, 13 November 2008 (UTC)

Why did you delete an open source product's page?

Sense/Net 6.0 is a completely open source product. There is namespace for Alfresco and others as well on wikipedia, so why did you delete this page? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Farkasattila (talkcontribs) 14:38, 14 November 2008 (UTC)

The page has not been deleted as of this time. I have only requested its deletion as it does not assert its notability and is written like an advertisement. If you think the project should be shut down, try leaving a note on the project's talk page. No one has officially declared it closed, as far as I know. article "Nonpseudoscience"

The purpose of this article is to indicate that, on account of contamination of academic concerns by political interests promoted by plutocrats/capitalists, the "conventional" use (i.e., now in vogue) of the terms "pseudoscience" and "science" have been very nearly reversed from their natural applications : what are conventionally styled "sciences" are largely actually pseudosciences, and what are conventionally styled "pseudosciences" may be quite adequate sciences.

These observations are quite commonly admitted by university professors privately, but not stated (by them) publicly on account of risk of losing their academic position as professor on account of policies of the wealthy vested interests (represented by the capitalist-based state). That "research" in "sciences" is heavily manipulated by grossly distorting interests of opportunistic warmongering capitalist cartels is a national and international shame and disgrace.

Historically, this situation has prevailed from the outset of science and of the universities; and, though notorious and commented upon occasionally in liberal and radical publications, is as yet in dire need of being addressed more openly and in more detail. What is at stake is, perhaps, the survival of civilization and of humanity on this planet.0XQ (talk) 22:05, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

This is exactly the same text from that article's talk page. I read it already. This is still original research. If anything, are you some kind of psychologist? Where's the proof that this pseudoscience thesis you're explaining exists? Where are the tests? Do you have some sources for me?
Copying and pasting the same text everywhere is infantile, in my point of view. Build your thesis now. ESPECIALLY at the AFD page. That's where you have to assert notability for inclusion. ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 22:08, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

What is questionable here is the motivation of the editor; a militarist in pay of the capitalist stooges, he is presumably fanatically an ultra-reactionary intent on the suppression of all human freedoms, and (in order to achieve that) of all free scientific inquiry. Do we take it that, as a hireling of the Bush administration (the Walker-Bush family which set up the Nazi Party in Germany), he is a Nazi extremist nihilist who will stop at nothing in his nihilist conspiracy to annihilate all life on earth? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 0XQ (talkcontribs) 12:27, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

It's rude to let a question go unanswered, so I have to tell you I really have no response for this. I don't get what you are saying. I'm not into deeply analyzing politics early in the morning right now. I don't know how G. H. W. Bush could have set up a Nazi party when he was only in his teens.
I'm lost. Honestly. ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 12:58, 18 November 2008 (UTC)

{{helpme}} The editor above seems to be mad because I reverted his addition to the 2008 Mexico City plane crash article. All his sources except for the Google one are Spanish. He has translated text to English himself. I don't know if the text is a copyvio if he copied it word for word. The article is now stretched and ridden with

  these ugly boxes.

In addition, spell check, grammar check, and punctuation check were thrown out the window. Any input? Thank you. ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 23:54, 15 November 2008 (UTC)

Don't worry about it. Instead, come up with a consensus. If the editor is not willing, simply revert it to how it should be, and talk to a sysop about it. This is likely a copyvio, and we don't want the article looking like crap. Again, come up with consensus, that's the key to Wikipedia. Cheers, DavidWS (contribs) 23:58, 15 November 2008 (UTC)
Just gonna hijack this header. Anyway, hi! About your question; consensus isn't exactly a policy, but more the decree of the WikiPowers That Be. Any edit that could be opposed by a substantial amount of people needs the community's approval, so said approval is gained through discussion which usually occurs on talk pages (you can also do it at the WP:PUMP or file a request for comment, though those are usually for cases with widespread effects). And yeah, it usually takes quite a while on articles that aren't in the spotlight. If you can confirm that the sources aren't copyright infringement and come from reputable sources, however, there should be no problem in including them in the article. As for translating them properly, I know of a bunch of people at the Spanish wikipedia who would probably love to help. Oh, and very good job not using RB to revert him! That earns you a lot of points. ;) As of this post I've reverted him again, hopefully for the last time, as he should discuss on the talk page. If he doesn't tell me so that we can sort this out. I want that article looking pretty, as I wrote it. :P Cheers (well not actually, still typing below this), Master of Puppets Call me MoP! :) 07:33, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
Using a simple Google search, I have come to find the new edits a copyvio of http://www.cnnexpansion.com/actualidad/2008/11/14/dialogo-de-los-pilotos-del-lear-jet-45. (Thx for the edit notice!) ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 13:43, 16 November 2008 (UTC)
Well, I guess that solves that then! :) (I'd use a {{tb}} template but the discussion is all here anyway). Cheers! Master of Puppets Call me MoP! :) 22:48, 16 November 2008 (UTC)

2 points:

1) The claims that the transcript of the pilots converstations cannot be included in the article because they appear in CNN, the Associate press is absurd such that I cannot imagine I even have to explain why. First there can be no implied or otherwise claimed copyright over the actual word for word public release of the content of the black boxes of the pilots last words. Its word for word what they said and was released publically and what the above author claims is copyrighted because it was in CNN, was actually played on national television on canel 22 in Mexico City, so if anything CNN has violated copyright. Which they havent ofcourse since its an official and public release of the actual pilots conversations.

2) Second the claim that the sources are in Spanish, well considering the incident happened in Mexico where the official language is spanish, and the most current and up to date information over the accident will ofcourse be release in Mexican newspapers and media in Spanish, then how else are we to find current and accurate sources to reference to the actual events of what happened? Wait until someone releases an Associated Press article in English with as little factual information as possible over the event for mainstream US news media?

As the current wiki stands and not to offend the proud author above, it says nothing whatsoever over the events and really is nothing more than a current news event posted by mistake as an encyclopedia entry.

The article as I wrote it comes from official publications, news releases in both national television and other media in Mexico City where the event occurred, so as a person direct and close to the source where the event occurred I seriously question your tactics as "editors" to claim you hold some higher level of accuracy and judgement over this event. I realize that Wikipedia has fallen far from its merits as a world class and accurate encyclopedia as almost every major American University will not accept quotations from Wikepedia in any classroom work or paper, we should at least try to not discredit attempts to make articles more accurate and detailed by such lame editing critiques as "the sources are in spanish", or "the pilots last words are copyrighted".

As far as the translation of their last words, many terms used are like "bad words" and can be translated many ways into English or merely *!$%!*!" etc.. Like hijo de su puto madre is like this mother f... o son o a b... o you piece of s... and so on and so on.

There is a reference to wake turbelance in this article which if you follow the wake turbelance page it already lists this event as an official example of wake turbelance when that hypotesis has just now been released. What I tried to point out is as was released in the Jornada (mexican newspapers) quoting people from both the Presidents of Mexicos staff, party and congress, and the direct results of the investigation that 1) The pilots were contracted from a third party company, and was discovered that they did not have experience in flying that type of aircraft, missed their destination to San Luis Potosi on outband by 250 nautical miles, and waited 1.3 minutes to reduce their velocity after a direct order by the controller to do so. Also that as this was during "rush hour" with this plane behind and in front of 2 other large jets, and a long line behind them, with extremely type spacing that 1.3 minute delay to reduce their velocity, and their unfamiliarity with the aircraft, and general findings of the investigation that they did not follow a proper flight plan and procedures, were more the cause of the accident than the wake turbelance they encountered. It is also a strong criticism as to why they allowed 2 high ranking officials to fly together in the same plane etc..

But since you people as editors have no intention to actually investigate the sources provided (since they are in spanish) and refuse to take my translation as correct, and are just happy to delete at will without actually editing, then this article like most modern wiki articles will continue to stand as an incomplete, inaccurate and unjust insult to the facts as they have unfolded.

Regards

Juan Carlos, Mexico City --Preceding unsigned comment added by User:Meximan1000, 16:01, 17 November 2008

Oh, jeez. Here we go.
I am not saying that you cannot give Spanish sources. WP:NONENG says you can, but you should try to give English sources first. Yo hablo español y sé cómo traducir texto en los dos idiomas. (I speak Spanish and know how to translate text in both languages) I would be more than happy to translate Spanish text if needed.
As to the copyright claim, please know that their interpretations of the text (CNN's) being transported to Wikipedia word-for-word is what triggers the copyright violation. Obviously, quoting a person isn't a violation of copyright, but it is when translation or interpretations, or even comments on the quote, are placed here.
Lastly, no Wikipedia article will ever be "complete". Why? Well, information changes. New discoveries are made every moment. Perhaps not much information will change in articles like mathematics, but chemistry will be ever-changing.
I hope that you are not offended by the reversions. We just have to protect the encyclopedia. You can work on an alternate translation and ask me or any other editor for help. Thank you. ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 21:12, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

Agreed pero no estoy de acuerdo (I am not in agreement) with the claims of some CNN copyright since it is word for word of what the pilots actually said as released in several sources which I list below, including mexican TV. CNN has not placed their own interpretration of what the pilots said, as they source from the official sources in Mexico. CNN´s text is an exact ripoff which can be found in the official mexican government secretary of communications website with reference to the "Expresión que refleja mucho esfuerzo" http://www.sct.gob.mx/transportes/aeronautica-civil/

Other references of thousands... http://www.elmundo.es/elmundo/2008/11/14/internacional/1226688888.html Note this articles title "Government blames pilots for crash" and further within MÉXICO.- El Gobierno de México reveló que los pilotos del avión en el que murió la semana pasada el ministro del Interior, Juan Camilo Mouriño, cometieron errores que al parecer provocaron el siniestro, al acercarse en exceso a un avión, y que carecían de formación suficiente para manejar la aeronave.

The government of Mexico reveals that the pilots of the plane in which died this last week Jaun Mourino committed errors which indicate caused the accident...

I mean how much more info could a guy want? Why not change the article yourself or just remove it until someone comes along that you guys approve to draft a new version?

I am not an expert in laws, and I am far more ignorant on Mexico's copyright laws. My point being, if CNN is breaking Mexican copyright laws by copying the Secretaría de Comunicaciones y Transportes, that's their problem, not ours. If Mexican copyright laws state that text produced by the Mexican federal government is in the public domain (similar to what the US does with pictures), that's probably why CNN copied the text. Having "Sonido similar a la alarma" this text taken from http://www.cnnexpansion.com/actualidad/2008/11/14/dialogo-de-los-pilotos-del-lear-jet-45 to illustrate the subject in question on Wikipedia is what's a copyright violation.
Let's not mess with the article right now. Let me go get some help on the subject. I really don't know what to do. I know you're trying to help. I am not trying to push you away from helping. Perhaps I'm wrong on this. I really don't know at this point. And, no, we don't need an official person deemed capable of drafting a new article. I'm just confused on what to do.
So, please,   wait.

Como crees? No me has danado de ninguna forma. Actually I owe you an apology on my previous comments about "wannabeeditor", and as Im new to wikilandia, I see merit in the process you followed, if all editors followed that then wikipedia would probably have less "junk" pages. On a humorous comment, "Mexican Copyright Laws?", you change the font and some colors and you are no longer in violation of a trademark, really its a sad joke. The most famous example is the "la michoacana" a franchise that sells icecream, their competition is everywhere using the same name and their brand which is a young senorita, traditionally dressed in attire from Michoacan, holding an icecream cone in her right hand. The competition uses the same name and girl, but changed the ice cream cone to a popsicle, and that was enough to bypass their registered mark. Anyway I do appreciate the trouble you went through to make sure the content is correct, and its certainly made me want to more carefully cite my sources and format my responses for any future posts. Muchas gracias por todo...

Looking for help

{{helpme}} This might take some time. I warn you. (Oh, and, TenPoundHammer or Master of Puppets, thanks for your help when I place this potentially annoying template).

I have a "problem/question". We seem to have a mini edit war and disagreement over on 2008 Mexico City plane crash. User:Meximan1000 has graciously added and partly translated some cabin conversation heard during the last minutes before the crash. However, doing a Google search of his additions, I find the text in some webpages in Spanish. (See above for the discussion we've had)

He's arguing that since Spanish-CNN is copying text from a Mexican federal agency, they're infringing any copyright that may exist on the text. I don't know if Mexico has a copyright law that releases federally-made text into the public domain like the US does with their pictures. I reverted his additions also because they are derived of Spanish sources (WP:NONENG). User:Master of Puppets has advised to not add the text until consensus is built. He added it. I reverted it once again (after 24 hrs., of course), and I think he's mad now.

I am open to translating text if needed. No problem there. I guess my question is, is Mexican-federal-government-made text compatible with Wikipedia's GFDL?. Thank you. ←Signed:→Mr. E. Sánchez Get to know me! / Talk to me!←at≈:→ 21:55, 17 November 2008 (UTC)

I'll do some digging. My provisional answer is "probably not" GFDL. However, it's safer to remove the content until proof is found that it can be used. Best, PeterSymonds (talk) 23:55, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
New York Lawyer and Arbcom member is of the opinion that "the chance of anyone pursuing a copyright claim based on that material would be negligible...[a]nd it would probably be fair-use anyway" (per irc:wikipedia-en) - NuclearWarfare contact meMy work 23:59, 17 November 2008 (UTC)
