Hello

Hello how are? .. i would like to add this Paragraph in the article of christianity and it's with "Identifying reliable sources" as the britannica enyclopedia ... the prolbelm that they delet it can u shcik this paragraph and tell what the problem and thank U :)

Impact Of Christianity On Civilization The role of the Christianity in Western civilization has been intricately intertwined with the history and formation of history and formation of Western society. Through its long history, the church has been a major source of social services like schooling, several universities in the world was founded by the Church, [1] some historians of science J.L. Heilbron,[2] A.C. Crombie, David Lindberg,[3] Edward Grant, Thomas Goldstein,[4] and Ted Davis, have argued that that Church had a significant, positive influence on the development of science,[5][6] and the Church's priest-scientists, many of whom were Jesuits, have been among the leading lights in astronomy, genetics, geomagnetism, meteorology, seismology, and solar physics, becoming some of the "fathers" of these sciences,.[7]

Church encourage medical care and welfare services and had influnce in economic;[8] inspiration for culture and philosophy; and influential player in politics and religion. And engineering and mathematics was highly advanced and its reflected through the evolution of architecture in the Middle Ages. In various ways it has sought to affect Western attitudes to vice and virtue in diverse fields. It has, over many centuries, promulgated the teachings of Jesus within the Western World and remains a source of continuity linking modern Western culture to classical Western culture.

The Bible and Christian theology have also strongly influenced Western philosophers and political activists.[9][10] The teachings of Jesus, such as the Parable of the Good Samaritan, are among the important sources for modern notions of Human Rights and the welfare measures commonly provided by governments in the West.[11] Long held Christian teachings on sexuality and marriage have also been influential in family life.

Christianity played a role in ending practices such as human sacrifice, slavery,[12] infanticide and polygamy.[13]Christianity in general affected the status of women by condemning infanticide (female infants were more likely to be killed), divorce, incest, polygamy, birth control, abortion and marital infidelity.[14] While official Church teaching[15] considers women and men to be complementary

Influence of Christianity does not stop the on Western civilization, Christians also have played a prominent role in the development and pioneering features of the Islamic civilization.[16]

The cultural influence of the Church has been vast. festivals like Easter and Christmas are marked universally as public holidays; Pope Gregory XIII's Gregorian Calendar has been adopted internationally as the civil calendar; and time itself is measured by the West from the assumed date of the birth of the Church's founder, Jesus of Nazareth: the Year One AD (Anno Domini). In the list of the 100 Most Influential People in Human history, Percent 65 Christian figures from various fields.[17]

From: Jobas (talk) 20:28, 25 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi there. There are a few things I need to point out. Firstly, if you look at the edit summaries in the revision history for Christianity, you'll see that your edit was reverted because another editor had serious concerns about the content that you added. I would recommend that you do not add this content again without discussing it on the talk page of the article. In fact, I would encourage you not to add this content at all, as it falls foul of several wikipedia policies. Before continuing your editing, I advise you to read WP:SYNTHESIS, WP:OR and WP:POV.
Secondly, I note that after an admin responded to a CSD notice on Impact Of Christianity On Civilization by removing the contents and redirecting the page to the Christianity article (which was entirely the correct decision), you subverted this by restoring the article to its original content. I have now restored the admin's version (the redirect). Do not re-add the content there. Doing so may be seen as disruptive.
I hope this helps, but in short I won't be adding it for you. Regards Basalisk inspect damageberate 20:36, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
    • thank you for responding ... i know the policy of the source that why i write Identifying reliable sources i don't really understand why you deleted my artical i think it's another issue and the artical of christianity don't talk about it and the artical was with sources.Jobas (talk) 20:49, 25 January 2012 (UTC)
I didn't delete anything; I'm not an administrator. Basalisk inspect damageberate 00:37, 26 January 2012 (UTC) Sorry, actually I did remove that content. If you're unsure why, read my response above. Basalisk inspect damageberate 00:39, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

proper AFD

On this deletion discussion the penultimate comment reads " Perhaps this AfD should be run a third time, this time semi-protected. It seems we can't get a proper AfD on this article without widespread on- and off-wiki canvassing. —SW— 18:27, 20 December 2011 (UTC)" which is what I'm soliciting. (and I think the recent spamming of Occupy Police in the final paragraph of Occupy Marines proves that activists have misconceptions about Wikipedia--pasted below) So, if you know how to initiate an AFD with semi-protection, then shall we let it have a 3rd & final run?

Along with a newly formed online entity Occupy Police, it appeared to at least one news outlet at the time that the Occupy movement might be expanding into not just geographical areas but into certain professions, although it was noted that it was too early to tell how successful it would be or who would support it.

This ramblitive run-on sentence shows not only their spammative nature, but also their complexity of encyclopedic thought. They are better off sticking to twitter and not Wikipedia ;-) 완젬스 (talk) 23:56, 7 February 2012 (UTC)

I understand your concerns. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get involved in recent developments because I'm overseas, and all the internet cafes here are blocked as open proxies, so I'm kinda hamstrung. Besides, I'm not an admin so I couldn't do anything about semi-protecting an AfD. I don't know if it's ever been done before or if there's any policy/guideline/precedent regarding semi-protected AfDs, but I would suggest raising the issue at the administrator's noticeboard and see what they have to say there. Hope this helps. Basalisk inspect damageberate 06:57, 8 February 2012 (UTC)

IP block exempt

I have granted your account an exemption from IP blocking. This will allow you to edit through full blocks affecting your IP address when you are logged in.

Please read the page Wikipedia:IP block exemption carefully, especially the section on IP block exemption conditions.

Note in particular that you are not permitted to use this newly-granted right to edit Wikipedia via anonymous proxies, or disruptively. If you do, or there is a serious concern of abuse, then the right may be removed by any administrator.

Appropriate usage and compliance with the policy may be checked periodically, due to the nature of block exemption, and block exemption will be removed when no longer needed (for example, when the block it is related to expires).

I hope this will enhance your editing, and allow you to edit successfully and without disruption. Hersfold (t/a/c) 01:17, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

P.S. - As the block on your IP currently expires in less than two months, I've made a note to recheck your situation on March 25th, and remove your IPBE at that time if it no longer seems to be necessary. Hersfold (t/a/c) 01:17, 9 February 2012 (UTC)\
I'm very grateful for your help; I will also try to remember to contact you as soon as I no longer need the flag. I'm still a bit confused as to whether this allows me to edit from the blocked internet cafes (as the edit notice that appears when I try to edit from them states they're blocked as open proxies), but since this is why I applied for the flag in the first place I will edit from them. If this is unacceptable to you (or indeed any other admin reading this), please let me know and/or remove the flag and explain. Regards Basalisk inspect damageberate 06:22, 9 February 2012 (UTC)

GOCE March copy edit drive

Invitation from the Guild of Copy Editors

The Guild of Copy Editors invites you to participate in their March 2012 Backlog elimination drive, a month-long effort to reduce the size of the copy edit backlog. The drive begins on March 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and ends on March 31 at 23:59 (UTC). Our goal for the drive will be to eliminate the remaining 2010 articles from the queue. Barnstars will be awarded to anyone who copy edits more than 4,000 words, and special awards will be given to the top 5 in the following categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words". We hope to see you there! – Your drive coordinators: Dank, Diannaa, Stfg, and Coordinator emeritus SMasters. 19:28, 20 February 2012 (UTC)

GOCE March drive wrap-up

Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 backlog elimination drive

GOCE March 2012 Backlog Elimination progress graph

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors March 2012 Backlog elimination drive! This is the most successful drive we have had for quite a while. Here is your end-of-drive wrap-up newsletter.

Participation

Of the 70 people who signed up for this drive, 40 copy-edited at least one article. Thanks to all who participated! Special acknowledgement goes out to Lfstevens, who did over 200 articles, most of them in the last third of the drive, and topped all three leaderboard categories. You're a superstar! Stfg and others have been pre-checking the articles for quality and conformance to Wikipedia guidelines; some have been nominated for deletion or had some preliminary clean-up done to help make the copy-edit process more fun and appealing. Thanks to all who helped get those nasty last few articles out of the target months.

Progress report

During this drive we were successful in eliminating our target months—October, November, and December 2010—from the queue, and have now eliminated all the 2010 articles from our list. We were able to complete 500 articles this month! End-of-drive results and barnstar information can be found here.

When working on the backlog, please keep in mind that there are options other than copy-editing available; some articles may be candidates for deletion, or may not be suitable for copy-editing at this time for other reasons. The {{GOCEreviewed}} tag can be placed on any article you find to be totally uneditable, and you can nominate for deletion any that you discover to be copyright violations or completely unintelligible. If you need help deciding what to do, please contact any of the coordinators.

Thank you for participating in the March 2012 drive! All contributions are appreciated. Our next copy-edit drive will be in May.

Unagressive not a word?

I checked several places. Why do you assume that "unaggressive"is not a word? See, e.g., http://oxforddictionaries.com/definition/unaggressive P0M (talk) 01:14, 9 April 2012 (UTC)

Basically, I'd never heard it before and I just used my browser spell checker to make a final decision (it flagged it up). I didn't think it a controversial change, but if you really want just change it back. That said, if you really want to use a single adjective then perhaps "docile" or "passive" is better; I still think "unagressive" sounds a bit odd. Regards Basalisk inspect damageberate 11:55, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
(Unindent to avoid cutting across the above question.) The spiders described as "unagressive" are anything but docile. They will not be pushed around. Neither are they passive. They react to what they perceive as aggression on the part of others by fighting back. I believe the intent of the article was to allay the fears of people who might imagine that these spiders would "come after them" for no good reason.
Cows are unaggressive. Most of the time they are also docile and passive. But that does not mean that they won't become very dangerous to human beings if they are guarding a new calf. A neighbor had a cow that was attacked by a dog that somebody had permitted to run free. The dog grabbed the cow by the nose and would not let go. The cow dragged the dog into a pond and finished it off there. I would not call that cow aggressive.
I suppose there may be a legitimate question whenever an animal defends itself. Some tarantulas, e.g., members of the genus Avicularia, are docile to the point that I have to wonder how they survive in the wild. But people who keep them as pets sometimes manage to get bitten somehow. Other animals are more proactive and will make a big threat display, or even move forward to defend a territory. Except for situations of male competitions for sexual access to females, it is hard to think of situations in which animals "go after" something if they aren't trying to secure something to eat. "Aggression" involves stepping in to go on the attack, I think. Defense is when somebody breaks down my door and I hit him. Aggression is when I go across the street and hit somebody just because I feel like it. P0M (talk) 21:50, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
P.S. I don't think very many people would regard the Australian funnel web spiders as "peaceable" either. They want to be left alone, and they will insist on it by going to war.P0M (talk) 21:53, 9 April 2012 (UTC)
Whatever. Like I said, I didn't think it was that controversial. If you feel so strongly about it then change it back, no worries. Basalisk inspect damageberate 02:26, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

Hi Basalisk - I hope you didn't get the wrong impression. I feel that the polarization of many disputes on Wikipedia is often a cause of strife (agh!), I like to try to give an outsider's perspective sometimes. As I've said, I think the use of that image is highly communicative. Best, —MistyMorn (talk) 19:17, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

No of course not, I appreciated your reasonable input. Just thought I'd try and explain my position a little more, as I felt the point I was trying to make was being chronically missed. Thanks for calming things down a bit. Basalisk inspect damageberate 19:22, 11 April 2012 (UTC)
That was my intention and I've got the page on my watchlist. I thought about this quite a bit and I feel your position is a very reasonable one, as the picture sends a valid message. I do think a more explanatory caption could help silence criticism. Best, —MistyMorn (talk) 19:48, 11 April 2012 (UTC)

Hello, Elahrairah. You have new messages at MistyMorn's talk page.

I would doubt that this is notable or even significant, but the best course is prod IMO. Peridon (talk) 12:52, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

Thank You for the Heartbreak

Taken directly from the criteria: a separate article is only appropriate when there is enough verifiable material to warrant a reasonably detailed article; permanent stubs should be merged to articles about an artist or album. This isn't a permemant stub, I mean I only just created the article and you haven't even given a chance for me to expand it. If there is enough coverage then the song would satisfy GNG and be eligible for inclusion. Thanks. Till I Go Home (talk) 15:34, 22 April 2012 (UTC)

I've expanded the article and definitely think that it is now eligible for inclusion, since so much has been written about it in reliabls sources. Thanks. Till I Go Home (talk) 03:06, 23 April 2012 (UTC)

GOCE May copy edit drive

Invitation from the Guild of Copy Editors

The Guild of Copy Editors invites you to participate in their May 2012 Backlog elimination drive, a month-long effort to reduce the size of the copy edit backlog. The drive begins on May 1 at 00:00 (UTC) and ends on May 31 at 23:59 (UTC). Our goal for the drive will be to eliminate January, February, and March 2011 from the queue. Barnstars will be awarded to anyone who copy edits more than 4,000 words, and special awards will be given to the top 5 in the following categories: "Number of articles", "Number of words", and "Number of articles of over 5,000 words". We hope to see you there! – Your drive coordinators: Dank, Diannaa, and Stfg.

Prozac poop-out

I see you removed this from requests for article creation, medical. I seem to have quite a few search engine hits for it. If there is a proper medical term for it, can such a page be created as a re-direct to the correct article or section? I was just on that medical creation page to enter another possible article for creation.--Canoe1967 (talk) 01:16, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

My personal suggestion would be to perhaps begin a "Tolerance" section at the Antidepressant article. Basalisk inspect damageberate 01:26, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
I know little of medicine. Is it worthy under that name as a re-direct to Antidepressant#Adverse_effects?--Canoe1967 (talk) 02:11, 1 May 2012 (UTC)
I don't think so, as it's not really an effect at all, is it? I think it could be worthy of a sub-section under the "Therapeutic efficacy" section. Don't just redirect it to the article as-is, because at present the Antidepressant article contains no information about this "poop-out" phenomenon. Sorry for the edit summary when I removed it btw, I didn't look into it and just thought it was some idiot kid adding a stupid entry to the list. I should've done my research, so I apologise. Basalisk inspect damageberate 10:02, 1 May 2012 (UTC)

No problem at all. I thought I would google it after I saw what looked like an obvious childish edit as well. It does appear to be a common term, just not using medical jargon is all. As I said earlier, I know little of the subject, so I will leave alone for now. If you want to see a true childish edit, look at the April 3, 2012 version of the Got Milk? article.--Canoe1967 (talk) 19:39, 7 May 2012 (UTC)

RE: Falklands Article

On Talk:Falkland_Islands, you removed my concern about User:Dave1185, stating "removing completely off-topic rant. this has nothing to do with the article; an article talk page is not the place for writing essays on how you've been "wronged" by others. take this elsewhere."

Take it where? The editor is clearly racist against Latinos, and he is dictating what goes into an article of Latino interest. I have a genuine concern about that. If I should take it somewhere else, please tell me where. --Lacarids (talk) 19:21, 11 May 2012 (UTC)

Firstly, he is not "clearly racist against Latinos", and nothing you posted supported that claim (bizarrely, the link you posted was actually to the diff where I removed your subsequent discussion). Secondly, he is not "dictating" anything: there were several editors who thought your posts fell fould of WP:NOTFORUM.
As for where to take it, I'm not really convinced it needs to be taken anywhere as Dave hasn't done anything wrong. Look, I can understand that you're frustrated that whatever discussion you were trying to initiate came to nothing, but ranting about other editors isn't the way to get anything done. If you feel it's necessary, perhaps try discussing it with him on his talk page? I don't think there's anything "reportable" in what's happened. Is this ok? Proposed deletion of List of Halo multiplayer maps

The article List of Halo multiplayer maps has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No assertion of notability. Why are the maps themselves notable, independent of the game's notability (remember, notability is WP:NOTINHERITED)? Even if the multiplayer aspect of the game has been praised, how is listing the names and features of each map different from a WP:GAMEGUIDE?

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Axem Titanium (talk) 20:43, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

Nomination of List of Halo multiplayer maps for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article List of Halo multiplayer maps is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Halo multiplayer maps until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Gaijin42 (talk) 23:06, 14 May 2012 (UTC)

GOCE May mid-drive newsletter

Guild of Copy Editors May 2012 backlog elimination drive mid-drive newsletter

Participation: Out of 49 people signed up for this drive so far, 26 have copy-edited at least one article. It's a smaller group than last drive, but we're making good progress. If you've signed up but haven't yet copy-edited any articles, please consider doing so. Every bit helps! If you haven't signed up yet, it's not too late. Join us!

Progress report: We're on track to meet our targets for the drive, largely due to the efforts of Lfstevens and the others on the leaderboard. Thanks to all. We have reduced our target group of articles—January, February, and March 2011—by over half, and it looks like we will achieve that goal. Good progress is being made on the overall backlog as well, with over 500 articles copy-edited during the drive so far. The total backlog currently sits at around 3200 articles.

Hall of Fame: GOCE coordinator Diannaa was awarded a spot in the GOCE Hall of Fame this month! She has copy-edited over 1567 articles during these drives, and surpassed the 1,000,000-word mark on May 5. On to the second million! – Your drive coordinators: Dank, Diannaa and Stfg

Speedy deletion declined: Lithuanglish

Hello Basalisk. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Lithuanglish, a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: Not a blatant hoax. Thank you. — Malik Shabazz Talk/Stalk 18:44, 26 May 2012 (UTC)

bring back Brock Baker!

Why did you make Brock Baker be deleted? What the hell? I work very hard on my pages and you shouldn't delete them. I did give the significance of the page. You probably didn't look hard enough. That really hurts my feelings. From heymister14

I'm sorry, I didn't mean any personal slight. I nominated the article for deletion because the subject is unremarkable - making a few videos (however popular) on youtube does not amount to notability. I've had articles deleted in the past myself and so I know what it feels like when your work goes to waste. How about taking a look at WP:Requested articles and creating a few from those suggestions? Make sure your articles conform to the general notability guideline and you shouldn't have too many problems. Hope this helps. If you have further questions, get back to me. Regards Basalisk inspect damageberate 21:08, 26 May 2012 (UTC)

Thank you for apologizing. Apology accepted. It's just annoying when pages are deleted. Heymister14 (talk) 21:15, 26 May 2012 (UTC)heymister14

Re: Wikipedia:New pages patrol#Special:Newpages

'It is advisable to patrol new pages from the bottom of the log: pages only stay in the queue for 30 days (720 hours), and there can be a considerable backlog.' Not a requirement per se, but when not done from the bottom, they age their way in unpatrolled, and are then likely to remain for some time. Dru of Id (talk) 21:06, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for the advice. Basalisk inspect damageberate 22:17, 28 May 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Vip Patel

Please try not to tag new pages with criteria A1 or A3 moments after creation. New users will often save first to see if an edit "works", and will add information later. Tagging for deletion just seconds after they save the page initially can be seen as biting. It is generally recommended to wait around 10 minutes before tagging with such templates. Cheers, and nice work patrolling. "Pepper" @ 22:34, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

Punky Comment

In what way does my website's wikipedia article look like advertisement? — Preceding unsigned comment added by JohnMHarrisJr (talkcontribs) 01:18, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

I can't quote direct examples as the article has been deleted and, as I'm not an admin, I therefore have no access to it. However, the information in the link(s) I provided you on your talk page should help to clarify. Ultimately, the organisation isn't notable, and so there's no reason for which the article could possibly be here other than promotion. Basalisk inspect damageberate 01:20, 3 June 2012 (UTC)

GOCE May drive wrap-up

Guild of Copy Editors May 2012 backlog elimination drive wrap-up

Participation: Out of 54 people who signed up this drive, 32 copy-edited at least one article. Last drive's superstar, Lfstevens, again stood out, topping the leader board in all three categories and copy-editing over 700 articles. Thanks to all who participated! Final results, including barnstars awarded, are available here.

Progress report: We were once again successful in our primary goal—removing the oldest three months from the backlog—while removing 1166 articles from the queue, the second-most in our history. The total backlog currently sits at around 2600 articles, down from 8323 when we started out just over two years ago.

Coodinator election: The six-month term for our third tranche of Guild coordinators will be expiring at the end of June. We will be accepting nominations for the fourth tranche of coordinators, who will also serve a six-month term. Nominations will open starting on June 5. For complete information, please have a look at the election page. – Your drive coordinators: Dank, Diannaa, and Stfg

Lisa Cimorelli

In the AfD for Lisa Cimorelli, I have bundled AfD for new articles about Amy Cimorelli and Katherine Cimorelli. None of the sisters is notable and their own, and personally I don't think the band is notable, but I will do a separate AfD for that. NJ Wine (talk) 02:27, 5 June 2012 (UTC)

Thanks for that, certainly agree with you on counts one and two; possibly on count three also. Let's see what others think. Basalisk inspect damageberate 02:28, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
I submitted the band Cimorelli for AfD on the grounds that they do not meet WP:MUSIC. The AfD for the band is not as clear-cut as the AfD for the sisters, but I could only find one independent source (Malibu Times) that gives them non-trivial coverage. I can't prove it, but considering the amount of puffery in Malibu Times article (e.g., compares them to the Jackson 5), I suspect that this is a non-notable band that had a very good friend at a newspaper. NJ Wine (talk) 03:21, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
I'll take a look. Cheers Basalisk inspect damageberate 03:31, 5 June 2012 (UTC)
