- Also, I noticed from your help desk post that you seem to be fluent in Portuguese. Would you be interested in helping translate articles between the English Wikipedia and the Portuguese Wikipedia? Pyrospirit (talk · contribs) 16:14, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
Hi Evandro Davis, two three administrators have declined to speedy delete the redirect you created at Dubai cup. I can see that the capitalization is not strictly correct, but there are incoming links to that name, and it is quite likely that someone would type "Dubai cup" exactly like that and would expect to be redirected to the correct article. There's a common saying on Wikipedia that "redirects are cheap", that is they take up little space on the server and can be useful if people make typos when searching. As a redirect from Dubai Cup has already been created, I see no problem with allowing both redirects to co-exist. --Canley (talk) 01:21, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
- Alright, I've reluctantly deleted it as a creator request (G7), but another editor may very well recreate it. Can you please correct or remove the links from Dubai Challenge Cup 2007 and Dubai Challenge Cup 2008 which point to that exact page? --Canley (talk) 02:33, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
Why are you insistent that Dubai Challenge Cup should have a "see also" link to Dubai Cup, which redirects to Mohammed bin Rashid International Football Championship, instead of linking directly to Mohammed bin Rashid International Football Championship? In general, it's poor practice to use a redirect deliberately. --Orlady (talk) 02:42, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
I understand the need for these two articles to link to one another. However, when linking to Mohammed bin Rashid International Football Championship (apparently, the official name of the tournament), why do you want the link name to be "Dubai Cup"? Why do you not want the link name to be "Mohammed bin Rashid International Football Championship"?--Orlady (talk) 02:05, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
"Pato" is sufficient to identify Alexandre Pato in the {{football box}} template. "Pato" Abbondanzieri wasn't with Internacional in 2006. In fact, there were no other footballers named Pato with Internacional at the 2006 Club World Cup. – PeeJay 22:54, 3 August 2010 (UTC)
- Using Manchester United as an example, they have had six players named Anderson, six players named Brown, and many others with the same surname, but that does not mean we should add initials to every single mention of them. We should use contemporary naming styles, and in an article about Internacional in 2006, "Pato" on its own is sufficient to identify Alexandre Pato. – PeeJay 23:04, 9 August 2010 (UTC)
Merge
editI've suggested merging Farangi (which you worked on) into Franks. I think this is better by WP policy and more useful to the readers. Jaque Hammer (talk) 20:51, 6 January 2011 (UTC)
The article FIFA Women's Club World Cup has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Tournament is years away from being held, if it will be held ever. It is not officially announced. All there was is a letter send to the FIFA. And only sources to find a reffering to a twitter tweet from the Santos guy who wrote it.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Koppapa (talk) 18:36, 22 April 2011 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
