Contentious editing

Please do not change genres and ask editors to "learn what they mean". The genres have articles themselves, and so we are well aware of what they mean and how they are used. Chubbles (talk) 00:22, 31 January 2008 (UTC)

used

yeah it def needed a genre section, it shud of been made a long time ago. USEDfan (talk) 03:10, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

be on the look out for SilverOrion who keeps removing half of the genre dispute paragraph, if u and fatalerror agree with the way i made it, then its obviosly better our way but they keep removing that the band is consider screamo and they make it say bert stated they arent scremo when all he siad was that they dont want to be scremo. USEDfan (talk) 06:51, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

the used page got locked

user:silverorion kept removing half of the genre paragraph we worked on, so i go tinto a little eit war, then decided i didnt want to get banned so i reported it and the page got locked how they had it, so half the paragraph is missing and it says bert stated the used arnt scremo when all he said was they dont want to be scremo, so right now im pissed cause half of the work i did was gone, if u could go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Zedla page and tell them that u agree with the way we made it hopefully that will be helpful and show the silverorion deleting half a page is vandalism. USEDfan (talk) 07:57, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

It was your fault as much as his. Don't get into edit wars in the first place. But yeah, your version was better. Oh and please, at least try to type proper English, it's really hard to read. -- FatalError 05:08, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

The USed.. again

Gee, talk about being BIASED. We're both arguing over the topic, but for some reason you think that IM the one getting in the way of the other person. Did you actually read what i wrote on the talk page. I have many sources saying that they are NOT screamo, and the band member even said that they dont consider themselves screamo. WHY IS IT THAT WHEN THERE IS A DISPUTE, YOU HAVE TO ASSUME THE POSITIVE? WHY!? --SilverOrion (talk) 07:09, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

To create an effective "disputed" section, its important that you actually describe why it is disputed, rather than simply giving a really general comment which suggests that each genre equally acceptable. Besides, to leave out the arguments against screamo would be to undo all the past discussion, seeing that screamo was actually the only genre i disagreed with. Anyhow, I'm relatively satisfied with the current version... --SilverOrion (talk) 08:28, 15 May 2008 (UTC)

?

where did i attack him, i make good edits and remove vandalism, i also like the description about me that u gave to silverorion, thats real nice of u. how long have we been friends now for? a couple weeks? u no me better then that. USEDfan (talk) 05:55, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

lol i wouldnt say i was being serious. USEDfan (talk) 23:11, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Trivium (band)

Please do not mess with the genres. It was clearly stated on the page not to do that without talk page discussion, but you ignored that, and piping NWOAHM to metalcore is downright deceptive. J Milburn (talk) 09:53, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

The link redirects to metalcore anyway. And I don't understand why I can't put metalcore in the article when it is already in the infobox. Or at least thrash metal, if you have a problem with metalcore. -- FatalError 17:00, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

August Burns Red

Dude, you cant just let give up like that.--SilverOrion (talk) 07:29, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

I didn't necessarily give up, I was waiting for someone else to pitch in. Thanks for asking CircafuciX. -- FatalError 23:37, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

No problem. −₪ÇɨгcaғucɨҲ₪ kaiden 23:41, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Saosin

I saw where you added the fact template on this article. I found a source for post-hardcore, and think I may have found one for screamo. Is this a reliable source in your opinion? I'm not up for another edit war, so figured I'd ask before using it. If the answer is no I found a couple more. Landon1980 (talk) 04:15, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

What about this one Landon1980 (talk) 04:36, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

The first one is fine, it's currently being used to cite emocore I believe. I just totally forgot about it when I put the template. The second one looks reliable at first glance. Are you sure it's the staff that review it? Because that would be the determining factor. -- FatalError 04:40, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Wait, what genre is the second source for? Because I don't see any mention of post-hardcore or screamo for Saosin. -- FatalError 04:42, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

The second one was for screamo I thought. I confused it with the review below, sorry about that. As for the first one I'm not sure about anything. I'm not familiar with this band at all; just trying to find some good sources. Landon1980 (talk) 05:13, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

It called a different band screamo. But anyway, yeah the first one is fine, I'd take caution in using its "emocore" label though, because like with the "death metal" sources on ABR's article, it just says "Genre: emocore". I usually don't trust those, because they are limited to certain genres (that particular website doesn't have "post-hardcore"). But they do call the band screamo within the actual review, so that can be used. My general rule of thumb is if there is no actualy text (like a review or something) to back up the statement, don't trust it. -- FatalError 05:18, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

Ok, thanks. Landon1980 (talk) 05:23, 23 May 2008 (UTC)

The Used

I tried finding a source for the statement that they don't care what genre they are as long as... and I did find they supposedly said it in an interview with Kerrang magazine. It says that here However I went to their site and looked at everything related to the band they have done by searching the site and couldn't find it. I may have overlooked it. See if you can find it in there. Landon1980 (talk) 05:10, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

You do realize that the first link is just a Wikipedia mirror, right? I'll take a look around the Kerrang! website, see if I can find anything. Earlier, I did a Google search for the exact quote and didn't find anything straight out of the magazine, so I doubt I'll find anything on the website. But you never know. -- FatalError 05:24, 24 May 2008 (UTC)
Well, I found three articles that could possibly contain that interview. The Used - Crazy Bert is back!, dish the dirt with The Used (don't know what that means), and The Used strive to impress in London (but that's probably a concert). I did a quick search and didn't find a single one that mentioned anything about an interview with The Used. I honestly don't have any idea how to find it. It's probably not online. The most we can do is wait and hope someone shows up that subscribes to the magazine. -- FatalError 05:42, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

No, like I said before I know next to nothing about how things work around here. What is a wikipedia mirror? I found the artistopia link on google. I have a friend that subscribes to Kerrang, and I asked him about this. He found two or three issues he said with articles on the band. He said the quote wasn't in any of the ones he could find, but he is still looking. Landon1980 (talk) 07:32, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

The text from artistopia is copied from Wikipedia. So essentially you'd have cited Wikipedia as your source. Maybe we could email Kerang and ask? Haha. -- FatalError 21:18, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
i think sum1 edited the links to aviod doubles and changed the source i orginally had, cause i dont see it on the sourced page so i think whoever edited it messed up the source. USEDfan (talk) 00:40, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
they are relieable, either realize that or find another, thanks, USEDfan (talk) 01:14, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on The Used. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. --USEDfan (talk) 02:02, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

u made as many edits as i did so if im guilty then u r too. USEDfan (talk) 02:32, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
ur edits were the same, mine were different to aviod it. thanks tho. see u on the talk page maybe. USEDfan (talk) 02:48, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

what are u doing vandal?, u just deleted all the info i fixed, its bull that u werent blocked last week when u did more eedits then i did, ur the one who shud be indefinilty banned for ur poor edits, not me. USEDfan (talk)

look kid, if u undo another one of my edits without talking about it first then ill report u for and indefienitly ban. if u make an update and i remove it u say its vandalism and then when i make an update and u remove it u say its ok...u make no sense, u just sound like a vandal to me. USEDfan (talk) 00:42, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

what? all u do is revert my edits, u also start edit wars and then u dont get banned, its ridiclous, i should be the only one who is allowed to edit the used page, it use to be a good page with important info on it,,,now i no why everyone says they dont read or believe whats on wikipedia, all the real info gets replaced with opinions, even if ILAD is a reissue, the song was released as a single first so u say something like the album was reissued with the digital single under pressure, the page is damaged beyond belief. USEDfan (talk) 00:49, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

but the thing is kid, when it comes to the used, i am a source, my page shud just be a source where i can confirm weather something about the used is true or not cause i no everything about them, i bet u dont have a copy of their demo cd and i do so ha! also, they are recording 18 songs for their 4th album, and that comes from what dan told me. USEDfan (talk) 01:01, 12 June 2008 (UTC)

Hiatus

I posted on the talk page about that. If you have anything to share, please do, so we're all clear. --Pwnage8 (talk) 18:02, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

Oh, my bad, didn't see that. I'll change it back to avoid confusion. Plus, the definition of hiatus (according to Wikipedia) is "A break or interruption in the continuity of a work, series, action, etc." So I think it qualifies. — FatalError 21:40, 25 June 2008 (UTC)

User:USEDfan

I have started a thread here if you would like to add anything to what I've posted so far. Landon1980 (talk) 05:45, 14 June 2008 (UTC)

Wow, finally he gets blocked. It's about time. Thanks for doing that. — FatalError 06:30, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
You're welcome. He is already requesting to be unblocked, let's just hope it sticks. In the mean time we will have to be ready for a sock attack. Landon1980 (talk) 07:36, 14 June 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, he told the admins that he has over 100 sock puppets that he can use. And that bastard said SilverOrion is his sock puppet, in an attempt to get him blocked as well. Good thing the admins aren't dumb. — FatalError 00:10, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
Thats a new low for USEDFan..... seriously.--SilverOrion (talk) 00:23, 15 June 2008 (UTC)
Yeah no kidding. Well he's blocked now, and I suspect that even if he does have sockpuppets, they won't be around for long. — FatalError 00:37, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Possible return

Keep an eye out for Shake 3000. He hasn't been around any The Used articles yet, but he's been editing Secret Agent Clank, USEDfan's favourite video game. He may have kept his editing on the down lo to not attract attention, but he may start being disruptive on The Used-related articles very soon. He's already reverted a change at Template:The Used that he disagrees with. --Pwnage8 (talk) 21:12, 26 June 2008 (UTC)

Look at this edit. This "later pressings of the album" is what he was edit warring over at The Used article just before his indef block. --Pwnage8 (talk) 22:19, 29 June 2008 (UTC)

Yeah that's definitely him. Should we request a Checkuser? — FatalError 22:22, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
Good idea. --Pwnage8 (talk) 22:30, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
Done. — FatalError 23:07, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Comet

Hi FatalError.

I notice you've done a bit of editing of articles about Ajax and similar topics. The Comet (programming) article underwent a dramatic reduction (99% of it was removed) in the past few weeks, and there has been a rather heated discussion there since. Maybe you would be willing to glance through the old state of the article, and the discussion on that page, and chip in with your opinion. Cheers! —jacobolus (t) 00:39, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Good timing, I was just editing it when you sent me that message. I'll see what I can do. — FatalError 00:40, 15 June 2008 (UTC)

Just wanted to add...

http://www.metalunderground.com/interviews/details.cfm?newsid=12929 DOES have the question "Would you consider As I Lay Dying as a Christian metal band?" Where Tim Lambesis says "Yeah. I mean, all 5 of us are Christians so I don’t know make us not a Christian band." Please read it before taking it off and saying it doesn't have the question. To find it quicker, just use Ctrl + F. ¤IrønCrøw¤ (Speak to Me) 19:58, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

My bad. I searched for "christian" and nothing showed up. I must have turned on case-sensitivity or something. Thanks. — FatalError 20:01, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
It's alright, no big deal, I just thought it was wierd. (I have a bad case of typos though - I can't type with my right pinky because it wont move, hehe). ¤IrønCrøw¤ (Speak to Me) 20:03, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
By the way, you may want to take a gander at the Underoath article - People have removed the sources and a couple users are going through an argument that went through a consensus a long time ago... You might know what I mean. I can't find the sources for them Being a Christian band right now (They are in some of the odler edits, but those same users keep taking it off. ¤IrønCrøw¤ (Speak to Me) 20:11, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
Alright, I'll see what I can do. — FatalError 20:13, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
Cool, I appreciate it. ¤IrønCrøw¤ (Speak to Me) 20:24, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for archiving, I was fixing (excuse my southern lingo) to do it as soon as I finished scanning some pages, but it looks like you beat me to it. ¤IrønCrøw¤ (Speak to Me) 21:27, 20 June 2008 (UTC)
No problem. :) — FatalError 21:29, 20 June 2008 (UTC)

Christian metal

Information: The discussion has been moved to Talk:As I Lay Dying (band), its content has become too relevant to the article As I Lay Dying (band).--Kmaster (talk) 18:56, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Btw, IronCrow has claimed for RFC, but the RFC template has a wrong syntax, I'm not sure about how RFC works, but we should fix that, i think.--Kmaster (talk) 19:04, 22 June 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, I was trying to figure that out, but I have no clue how it works as I've never done it before. I'll see what I can do... — FatalError 19:14, 22 June 2008 (UTC)

Your rollback request

Hi FatalError, I have granted your account rollback in accordance with your request for the tool. Please remember that rollback should only be used to revert vandalism, and should not be used to revert good-faith edits or to revert-war: misuse of the tool can lead to its removal. For more information, you may wish to see Wikipedia:Rollback feature and Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback. Good luck. Acalamari 19:06, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

That was quick, thank you! — FatalError 19:08, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
You're welcome! Take care. Acalamari 19:13, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Last.fm spelling

Hi. The anonymous editor was correct - in Britain, labelling is spelt with 3 L's. Since Last.fm is a British company, British spelling should be used on that page. I've corrected a number of incorrect spellings on the page now to British English. ~~ [Jam][talk] 19:35, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Really? I didn't know that. Thanks for correcting me. — FatalError 19:37, 30 June 2008 (UTC)
Yep, it is, and no worries :). ~~ [Jam][talk] 19:39, 30 June 2008 (UTC)

Vandal Patrol Tonight...

Wow, you're quick! I've hit conflicts a few times already tonight where you've already reverted before I could hit 'Q' :) Have a good night. Livitup (talk) 03:00, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Hah, thanks. That's what I get for having nothing better to do. Cheers. — FatalError 03:01, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Spoky

Please check the edit summary. The user states on the talk page he is writing a short story (about a cowboy and beastiality). Just trying to get rid of the vandalism until an admin deletes it. Sorry if blanking the page was the wrong way to go about (I'm kinda new at this) --mauler90 (talk) 06:35, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Never mind. I see you reverted your revert. Thanks! --mauler90 (talk) 06:36, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, sorry, I noticed that right after I clicked to revert it. Blanking the page was probably not the best way to do it, but it's vandalism so it doesn't really matter, it's going to get deleted here shortly anyway. I undid my edit, sorry about that. — FatalError 06:37, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

No problem. I was a bit unsure about blanking it myself so I will keep that in mind. --mauler90 (talk) 06:38, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

The reason I say blanking the page isn't the best way to go about that is the exact reason I reverted your edit in the first place. It catches the attention of editors as vandalism, because that's what we're used to. But again, it doesn't really matter, I'd personally just leave it as-is and let the admins take care of it. Just make sure the speedy deletion tag stays on. Cheers. — FatalError 06:44, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Matthew Hatchette

Thank You for editing his entry. We were made aware of the slanderous link on that page and he and I have both been very upset, but trying to handle it but we are not that computer savvy, nor have the time to stay on top of it. I am very glad someone else did something. I didn't know what else to do.Missneenah (talk) 07:23, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Sure, no problem, glad to help. :) — FatalError 18:08, 2 July 2008 (UTC)

Last.fm beta for non-subscribers

Hey! I don't know if it's reliable, but it's the best source I've found: http://beta.last.fm/group/Last.fm+Beta/forum/95114/_/428348

Lastfm is definitely allowing some non-subscribers to access the beta version. The trick part is finding an official statement (they haven't updated the blog yet, so...)

Cheers. -Pikolas (talk) 16:05, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

Okay, well I just wanted someone else to confirm it. It's hard to trust anonymous users. ;) Seeing as how only subscribers can go to that link, I'm afraid that's not gonna work. But I'll still undo my edit and hope someone shows up with a good source. Since this isn't really "huge", I don't think we necessarily need a source ASAP, but it would be nice to be able to verify it. — FatalError 18:24, 6 July 2008 (UTC)

3 dev adam

Hello, sorry about speaking as an anonymous user, I'm not really a regular editor. I'm just wondering why you thought my addition to 3 Dev Adam counted as vandalism, considering it was valid, unmentioned in the rest of the article, and had a reference to a review showing that scene as well as screenshots. I'm sorry if I've forgotten some rule, but it didn't seem like vandalism. 67.170.11.140 (talk) 06:37, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

No, I'm terribly sorry about that, I just saw the thing with having sex with strange puppets watching and I assumed it was vandalism. I've reverted my edits. Sorry again, my mistake. Have a good night. — FatalError 06:46, 7 July 2008 (UTC)

Ambox

Hey. I like the new style you've applied to your {{ambox}}'s at the top of your page. Would you mind applying that same style to mine on my talk page? I could copy it for the orange and blue ones, but I'm not sure of the background colour for the red one. ~~ [Jam][talk] 07:42, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

There you go. I stole the style from here, so don't give me credit for creating it. Anything else you need? :) — FatalError 08:24, 8 July 2008 (UTC)
Very nice - much appreciated :D. ~~ [Jam][talk] 12:16, 8 July 2008 (UTC)

Question for you

I don't like throwing around false accusations, but have you noticed anything here recently to make you think Usedfan might be back? I'm pretty certain it is her/him. Look at the Used article and see if you think the same thing. Look at the contribs of the user, you will know the one I'm talking about. Coincidentally all of the accounts edits are to articles usedfan frequented. Landon1980 (talk) 03:30, 9 July 2008 (UTC) They also seem to share the same horrible grammar and editing styles. I'm still new here, how does this work? Will a checkuser turn up anything, or did he have to get a new IP to create an account? I am nearly positive it is him, would just about stake my life on it. I don't know much about how much evidence there needs to be, but if nothing else there are some major coincidences here. Landon1980 (talk) 03:50, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Yeah, it's him, see above. I've already reported him to WP:SSP. Let's see how that goes. — FatalError 21:34, 9 July 2008 (UTC)
He is back again looks like. User:King Kookie is obviously usedfan. Why is his IP allowed to make new accounts? I thought that would be disabled. Landon1980 (talk) 03:16, 13 July 2008 (UTC)
He has been indef blocked once again. I wonder how long it will take him to come back this time? Landon1980 (talk) 04:21, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

Indeed he has come back. Amazing how it was less than half a day after I made a statement on User:FallenWings47's talk page: "He did come back as User:Shake 3000 and continued his shenanigans. He was indef blocked with account creation blocked, so hopefully he won't be coming back. But someone that commited/insane will probably find a way to get around everything. Either way, it's very easy to spot him by the edits he makes." --Pwnage8 (talk) 13:55, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

You aren't going to believe this, but he is back already as User:Dr Donut D. Looks like all the articles are going to have to be protected. Landon1980 (talk) 04:08, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

God damn, he is so stubborn. When is he going to realize that he's going to get blocked no matter what he tries? He's just wasting his time and ours. (Although more his, since it doesn't really take much to click "undo", and since the admins are on watch.) — FatalError 06:16, 14 July 2008 (UTC)

I'm glad the admins are watching him, thats for sure. Seicer had not been editing in several hours last night but while I was informing another admin about the situation he/she very quickly handled the problem. That tells you they are closely monitoring "his" articles. Do you realize the trouble USEDfan is going to, to do all of this? They disabled account creation on all the IP's he has used thus far, so he is changing his IP, going to a friends, house, or using proxy server software of some kind, etc. The used template was even semi-protected, he must have made enough edits to not be considered a newly registered account anymore. He must have one miserable life doesn't he? I can't imagine being that damn determined to cause disruption. I doubt he will ever give up, I'd say we have not seen the end of usedfan. I get a good laugh at times, but it is getting increasingly annoying. I'm starting to wonder if maybe he has a dial up connection, so his IP is different every time he logs in. He comes back rather quickly, and you know he isn't the sharpest knife in the drawer by any means. Landon1980 (talk) 13:43, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
That's what I was thinking, he must have one miserable life to be that determined to cause trouble for about 10 minutes at a time. It is getting a bit annoying, but I think he's going through a lot more trouble than we are. It doesn't matter how he's doing it, the fact is that he is doing it, and wasting his time with it. I doubt he's using a proxy, he doesn't seem smart enough like the type of person that uses those. ;) — FatalError 01:29, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
i figure i will jump in since he always gets our ip adress banned. being a room mate of his i can say that you are wrong. he is pretty smart, i know he is in college for pc programming and that is hard stuff. he doesnt get a lot of work because of the business he works for is doing poor so he doesnt have much else to do. he had a boyfriend for a couple weeks in part of june/july and that kept him away from the pc a lot but they broke up so he is back to his old rutine. he is a nice guy but he doesnt get along with too many people, this stuff happens on every message board he is on, he always gets banned, but a little hint, if u left the page the way he makes it for a week and he sees no one argueing anymore, he will dissapear from the site, he likes the thrill of cyber agruements, when he got ignored on a message board, his finally words were, why isnt any1 argueing with me back, u guys are no fun. or something like that. but you get the point. but either way, obviously he cares so much about the used and this page for some reason, i would say just let him have his way, make him happy, and just igore the rest, he thrives on your reactions to his edits so you really are just incouraging him. yeah that is the situation and he is working now so he prob wont be editing again til tommorow. Mister Muffin (talk) 04:56, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
Looks like another sockpuppet. --Pwnage8 (talk) 15:52, 15 July 2008 (UTC)
I agree, and if not that must be some college the two of them attend. Landon1980 (talk) 18:38, 15 July 2008 (UTC)

In addition to "Mister Muffin" look for "Jackk of trades" to start editing Used-related articles very soon, as he is now an "established" user and can edit semi-protected pages. --Pwnage8 (talk) 07:09, 21 July 2008 (UTC)

IronCrow leaves

I think you might find this interesting User:IronCrow, User_talk:IronCrow. --Kmaster (talk) 05:07, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Yeah that is interesting. Kinda funny. I hadn't seen him around since the debate so I'm not surprised. — FatalError 21:36, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

Well I'm not a big fan of userboxes, and I don't really have a user page to put them, but I'll be sure to let others know, thanks. — FatalError 21:43, 9 July 2008 (UTC)

The link is to one of their official sites, which fits the description: "Articles about any organization, person, web site, or other entity should link to the official site if any" and "sites with other meaningful, relevant content that is not suitable for inclusion in an article, such as reviews and interviews". There are many articles which still use Myspace as a link, even though there are existing links which are deemed "more official".--SilverOrion (talk) 08:23, 11 July 2008 (UTC)

Oh wait, nevermind. I just realised that the "official website" link redirects to their MYSPACE.--SilverOrion (talk) 11:57, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
Oh, you're right, hah. Didn't see that. Well I guess in that case MySpace is their official website. And usually links to MySpace are only added if it has information that can't be found anywhere else, or if, like in this case, they band does not have an "official website". — FatalError 18:34, 11 July 2008 (UTC)
Ah well, its all good.--SilverOrion (talk) 05:26, 13 July 2008 (UTC)

WP:NOTFORUM

There used to be a section on that, but it was deleted for some reason. I recently redirected that shortcut to the next most appropriate section, because I was too lazy to discuss any big changes. But yeah, any forum like comments that don't really add anything to the discussion can be deleted. That's what I did on the Screamo talk page. --Pwnage8 (talk) 20:00, 17 July 2008 (UTC)

Okay, well I just didn't see how the comment was "forum like". But I don't know that particular policy very well so you're probably right. — FatalError 20:19, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
This is way off-topic and kind of random, but do you have a Last.fm account? — FatalError 20:32, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
No, I don't have a last.fm account. Sorry. Getting back to the "not forum" thing.. we've seen debates like this play out on forums and even youtube comments. Guy1: "[insert band name] is emo", Guy2: "no they aren't", Guy3: "cmon guys, who cares what genre they are, they make great music".. or something. I know we've made comments like the first two on The Used talk page, but that's because we couldn't agree on what genres go in the infobox. The discussion on the Screamo talk page was about sources (completely unrelated to genre), so the comment is not only forum-like, but out of place as well. I removed it to keep the discussion focused. I'll leave it up to you on what to do, but to me the comment looks stupid. --Pwnage8 (talk) 20:35, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Well yeah, I totally agree that the comment was useless. I just didn't know we are allowed to remove such comments. Never mind then. — FatalError 21:55, 17 July 2008 (UTC)
Woops.. turns out it wasn't deleted at all. I misplaced the shortcut, but now i redirected it to the proper section. Have a look. --Pwnage8 (talk) 23:55, 30 July 2008 (UTC)
Right, I saw that, but I didn't see where it says that you're allowed to delete others' comments. I'm sure there's something on that somewhere...it seems like a logical rule. Can you point me to it? — FatalError 06:34, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
Templates such as the one used on the Panic at the Disco talk page link to the policy. It implies that such comments are unwelcome and can be deleted. --Pwnage8 (talk) 17:30, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
Never mind, I found what I was looking for. It says here under WP:TALK that it is perfectly fine to delete "material not relevant to improving the article." Thanks. — FatalError 21:19, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
Hmm.. yeah, that works too.. lol. But I see people deleting comments based on WP:NOTFORUM all the time, so it works either way. --Pwnage8 (talk) 21:22, 31 July 2008 (UTC)
Alright, well thanks for letting me know, I didn't know it was an actual policy until now. — FatalError 21:25, 31 July 2008 (UTC)

Cleanup tag for Internet marketing article

I noticed you placed a cleanup tag on Internet marketing. I did quite a bit of work on the article a few months ago (see Talk:Internet_marketing#Copy_editing). Can you provide some input about what elements in particular need revision? Gmazeroff (talk) 14:11, 23 July 2008 (UTC)

I was mainly referring to the list at the beginning. It looks really bad and is not encyclopedic. There should be a sentence describing the most common services, not a list showing every single possible one. I'd do it myself but I'm not really familiar with the subject. If you could condense the list into a sentence or two that would be great, and you can remove the cleanup tag. — FatalError 08:08, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks for the suggestion. The list of Internet marketing topics has been moved to a new "See also" section. I described the change on the article's talk page, and removed the cleanup tag. Gmazeroff (talk) 16:21, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
Well the other thing is that half of those are not specific to Internet marketing, and also apply to any other kind of marketing, so I don't think they belong in the first place. I've cleaned up the list but I still think it's too big, even now. The See also section is usually only for articles that relate directly to the topic, which doesn't apply to most of the ones on the list. But let's take further discussion to the article talk page... — FatalError 23:23, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

or rtaher not adding them. I appretiate you sending me messages about stuff I aledgedly did, but I didn't do it (and the link you supplied proves it). on topic of it being not funny: no, it's not- I'm trying to establilish a clean PopCu section (in compliance with notability standards).--83.243.92.18 (talk) 07:52, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, for some reason I used the wrong template; I didn't mean to use the external links one. The reason I reverted your edit was because of the comment that said not to add a pop culture section. Go to the article's talk page and see if you can get consensus to start the section. I understand that your edit was in good faith, but you have to discuss an edit like that before actually doing it. Cheers. — FatalError 08:06, 29 July 2008 (UTC)

Cloud computing

excuse my language, but "web 2.0" is a bullshit term, "web application" is more appropriate

lol agreed web application is more appropriate in this context. it is useful to use associations in knowledge transfer though and most readers are going to get a clearer picture of what cloud applications look like if we reference it somewhere...

thanks for your contribs samj (talk) 10:11, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

ditto for reflist2 - wasn't sure how to do that. samj (talk) 21:22, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

No problem. I'm pretty biased because, as a web developer, I hate the term Web 2.0 and have come to realize that it means absolutely nothing. But yeah, anytime. :) — FatalError 22:46, 3 August 2008 (UTC)

My bad

Sorry I put the arsonist in the Thrice songs with weird time sigs but parts of it are in 5/4 but yeah sorry-Sector311 (talk) 15:15, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

It's no problem. It's just that, while it might be true, the source only talked about "Silhouettes". See WP:V. Have a good day. — FatalError 19:02, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

Yeah I actually didn't look at the citation before I edited it. Oh well. Thanks -Sector311 (talk) 19:45, 6 August 2008 (UTC)

The Used

I reverted that based on seeing you say he had been kicked out, as you assumed looks like. I done a little digging and it looks like you may have been correct all along. Look at this and there are several more which say he was kicked out. Landon1980 (talk) 03:53, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Okay, so I was right. I was just confused because I thought he was kicked out, but the current reference says he left. I'll add your reference in, then. — FatalError 05:00, 10 August 2008 (UTC)

Speedy deletion of Dance Gavin Dance (album)

A tag has been placed on Dance Gavin Dance (album) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia, because it appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion. If you can indicate how it is different from the previously posted material, place the template {{hangon}} underneath the other template on the article and put a note on the page's discussion page saying why this article should stay. Administrators will look at your reasoning before deciding what to do with the page. If you believe the original discussion was unjustified, please use deletion review instead of continuing to recreate the page. Thank you. Mdsummermsw (talk) 12:45, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Emarosa

I don't know what makes you think allmusic.com is not reliable. They are a PROFESSIONAL metadata base review staff for music(is on wikipedia), if you dont believe me. Your sources of post-hardcore are not done by ANY professional staff and aren't widely known. WP:RS states the website needs to co-exist with the actual fact (the music). In this case the album in itself. The album directs the buyer to myspace.com/emarosa. Myspace.com/emarosa has "Rock" listed in their genre. It coexists with MY source by not yours. Not to mention my source is the most reliable source on the entire forum. I feel the need to report you and Inhumer if you change my information again. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Thisisyourwayout (talkcontribs) 16:06, 13 August 2008 (UTC)

Okay, two things. First of all, woah there dude, calm down. I've done nothing wrong and you threaten to report me? For what? Second of all, Allmusic is notoriously unrealiable when it comes to genres. There are currently 4 sources, all perfectly reliable, stating that they are a post-hardcore band. Why do you insist on removing that? Also, a band's MySpace is not a reliable source. Stop adding "rock" to the genre list; if they play post-hardcore, then it's no shit that they play rock. I see no reason for you to change anything right now. — FatalError 08:14, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Allmusic

Hey, I'm trying to prevent the use of All Music as a source on Four Letter Lie. I would appreciate it if you would help me out.--SilverOrion (talk) 06:18, 16 August 2008 (UTC)

Thanks!--SilverOrion (talk) 06:50, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
No problem. I've already had this debate a million times so I'm just repeating myself, hah. — FatalError 08:35, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
Yeah, the policies need to be amended so that it explicitly states that you cant use Allmusic and other sites like Lastfm, mp3.com etc--SilverOrion (talk) 09:49, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
