SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways, from comparing articles that need work to other articles you've edited, to choosing articles randomly (ensuring that all articles with cleanup tags get a chance to be cleaned up). It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. Your contributions make Wikipedia better -- thanks for helping.

If you have feedback on how to make SuggestBot better, please tell me on SuggestBot's talk page. Thanks from ForteTuba, SuggestBot's caretaker.

P.S. You received these suggestions because your name was listed on the SuggestBot request page. If this was in error, sorry about the confusion. -- SuggestBot 01:09, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

Userboxes are Evil and Must be Stopped.

I support your opinion on userboxes. I think the things are stupid, don't contribute anything to Wikipedia and help turn Wikipedia into internet forums at their worst.

But there is another thing you should menction that are bad about userboxes. The text in the userboxes is so small it's hard to read. The ugly color contrast common in userboxes doesnt make this any better. So they are ugly and unreadable on top of all their other problems. --Arm 01:22, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:Pianoman.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Abu Badali 14:29, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

I apologize for the incorrect vandalism warning you received. A certain filter was a little too indiscriminate. This is the first example of this kind of false positive I've seen. I'm removed the offending filter that caught you, and need to spend a bit of time with it to get it up to scratch before activating it. Thanks for your patience. joshbuddytalk 14:46, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

I think it happens to you because last night, I setup the bot to look at edits that human's never usually review. This has, understandably, meant its been going over way more edits than it usually does. In short, this gives us a much better test of false positives than before. As well, you have terribly luck. Sorry about that, if its an consolation, you'll prolly die early and won't have to endure too much more of this mortal life. :) joshbuddytalk 16:04, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

Speedy deletion

I noticed that you tagged the page Vitarich Corporation for speedy deletion with the reason "advertising". However, "advertising" is not currently one of our criteria for speedy deletion, so I have removed the speedy deletion tag. You can use one of our other deletion processes, proposed deletion or articles for deletion if you still want the article to be deleted. Thanks! Stifle 23:33, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

I know, I know. Sometimes common sense is applied and something like this, which will obviously be deleted, will be speedied. Hopefully blatant advertising will, one day, finally make it into CSD. Proto||type 00:20, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

TR-3B Stryker II Deletion

Hello, I was wondering if you would consider changing you're vote to Keep after reading this?

A homemade aircraft for flight sim 2004 that is extremely popular/notable at 3000+ downloads from just one website. Made by one of the most notable concept developers for flight sim. What’s wrong with listing a concept Flight Sim aircraft? Not so different from the X-02 model under fictional aircraft in my opinion. The TR-3B is based on a rumored aircraft in the real world named the TR-3A Black Manta. This article has been around sine 2005.

-Left by user MachJok with a vote to keep- As a designer of Flight Simulator Aircraft I must say EVERY aircraft is notable and unique, even if it has been modeled after a real world aircraft. To have a wikipedia article on a unique aircraft that MAY BE real, but has been modeled in a flight simulator constitutes a unique and notable a) article and b) aircraft. To say that the aircraft is not unique is to say that every fictional plane or aircraft based on rumor is not unique...and obviously this is not the case at hand. Although I see how bandwidth may be an issue, I do not agree that the stipulation of non-notable applies. That would be the equivalent of saying a hand built model is not unique, and each modeled aircraft for flight simulator is painstakingly modeled part by part. ASSUMING the black manta is not real (which it may or may not be, I don't know) just because there is an article about an aircraft that was made for a flight simulator is in itself unique. Therefore the aircraft itself is not entirely unique; however, it is notable that a designer went through the effort to build an aircraft. I will also add that this aircraft is worth of distinction and has already won an award from another design group. I have adequately shown that this aircraft is both unique and worthy of distinction and excellence. As per your guidelines for deletion, all of the titles of non-notability, non-excellence, and not worthy of distinction do not apply. --end--

I am not here to get into a fight of any sort, just simply to talk about the deletion and to try and persuade you to change you’re vote to keep.

--Elgae Nacriema

Yeah I understand that, and I did'nt intend to, It got deleted in the edit of new information. Thanks for looking at it again.

--Elgae Nacriema

Could you explain this four tides thing to me a little more? Do you mean in the edit box, I should do Elgae Nacirema 06:40, 31 March 2006 (UTC)Elgae Nacriema after my text?

--Elgae Nacriema

Ahh ok, I looked around for info on it, but I never saw a thing that clear said how to do it. So thanks. And I wont. Just upsets me that he is going after something like this under Fictional, when it is a notable aircraft in the flight sim world, but I guess you need to be really involved in the flight sim world to under stand that. Elgae Nacirema 07:50, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

Ok, I'll keep that in mind. Thanks for all the great help. One thing... The TR-3B is not my artical, I just added some things to it, and fixed some stuff here and there, then the next thing I know someone wants to delete it. Elgae Nacirema 09:00, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

Red Devils

Can you please read the Talk page of Manchester United before reverting again. This is a good faith edit and is sourced. The name Red Devils was given to Salford in the 1930s by French journalists. Some internet sites state that the name comes from 'the Heathens' and others that it was because of the red strip. None of these sites ever give any dates for the nicjnames actual adoption. I gave a link that does.GordyB 11:23, 31 March 2006 (UTC)

Inside Carolina

I have reopened Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Inside Carolina. I understand that you mean well, but usually closing an AfD is the job of a closing admin. In this case, we don't have consensus to do anything, and thus the AfD will get its five days. Even if you consider it a bad faith nomination, it's probably best just to say so in the discussion rather than closing the debate outright. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Congratulations. Here are what pass for words of wisdom from the puppy:
  1. Remember you will always protect the wrong version.
  2. Remember you must always follow the rules, except for when you ignore them. You will always pick the wrong one to do. (See #5)
  3. Remember to assume good faith and not bite. Remember that when you are applying these principles most diligently, you are probably dealing with a troll.
  4. Use the block ability sparingly. Enjoy the insults you receive when you do block.
  5. Remember when you make these errors, someone will be more than happy to point them out to you in dazzling clarity and descriptive terminology.
  6. and finally, Remember to contact me if you ever need assistance, and I will do what I am able.

MDS

Terribly sorry to hear that. Best to ignore the Wikipedia page altogether - last time I checked it was still a little too bleak for some circumstances. My consultant has told me that I could have another 40 years instead of the five or so that the article suggested when I first read it, although my situation is a bit extreme as I had the least severe form of the illness and am half the age of most patients. Do you know which type of MDS your mother's got (eg Refractory Anaemia)?

Is there any chance of your mother having a transplant? I had mine a month ago (unrelated donor, not perfectly matched) and it's gone really well so far. Not too many side effects and no serious infections. It's too early to start talking about being cured or anything but I'm doing better than I dared imagine. Won't be back at work for a while so I'll probably be wasting time on here like I've been doing for the last year, although I'm trying my hardest to cut down. Let me know how things go and all the best. CTOAGN (talk) 17:45, 5 April 2006 (UTC)

Did you know? {{prod}} can have a parameter.

Hello there. You have proposed the article Septimuleius for deletion without providing a reason why in the {{prod}} template. You may be interested to know that you can add your reasoning like that: {{prod|Add reason for deletion here}}. This will make your reasoning show up in the article's deletion notice. It will also aid other users in considering your suggestion on the Proposed Deletions log. See also: How to propose deletion of an article. Sandstein 17:34, 10 April 2006 (UTC)

Admins and article edits

Starting off with a disclaimer: Whilst I'm obviously responding to your vote on my RfA, I'm not trying in to get you to change that. What I am asking is much more general and applies to any RfA of a similar nature, past, current, or future. If you think it is more appropriate to wait till my RfA is over before answering that is fine.

I've questioned this before on other people's RfA, but never really got an answer- why exactly does article creation/editing affect how suitable someone is for being an administrator? Your reason of "Administrators should actually have a handle on what article editing and creation is about" is the closest I've found to an answer, so I'm grateful for that and I was just wondering if you could expand on that reason; to help get it clear in my head why some people oppose RfA's on the basis of low article counts.

I've argued before that Wikipedia needs to have editors and admins that do different things, and it is fine to have some who are pure writers, some who basically edit but fix other things as they come across them, others who do vandal fighting/maintenance, help resolve disputes etc. I am asking: are you opposing because you feel users like me, who do not greatly contribute to articles will not do a good job as an admin because they might misunderstand editing issues? Or some other reason?

Referring back to my specific case, are you worried that I might in some way do a bad job as an admin? If this is the case I would like to know why (so I can see if it can be fixed!)

I do realise creating/expanding/improving articles is the most important job there is on Wikipedia. I have never once doubted that, but I've also thought that other things are needed as well- and that's where I can help more.

Hope you understand what I'm trying to get at here; thank you for reading this far and hopefully you can help me in my never ending quest for knowledge and improvement :) Petros471 14:34, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

Sexuality of Adolf Hitler

FYI...This article is up for vote on AFD. OSU80 01:29, 18 April 2006 (UTC)

Hi Proto. I note that you removed the table from The World’s 10 Worst Dictators (PARADE magazine) on copyright grounds. I believe here that you're taking the point a little far, as a vast amount of Wikipedia content would thus be lost on similar grounds – the Academy Award for Best Picture page for example. I even note that an entirely similar page, FHM 100 Sexiest Women in the World 2005 etc, is up for deletion, but not one of the comments offers copyright infringement as a reason.

One of the aspects that makes Wikipedia essential is its usage as a reference source; as the 'Dictators' list has now gained international notoriety, a researcher would want to refer to past "winners" at a glance. Without the table the above page is rendered meaningless, as merely linking to the original content gains nothing. The Oscars page could easily be entirely replaced with a link to the Academy's own site. Smb1001 11:42, 20 April 2006 (UTC)

I had a question relating to your comment on my talk page regarding "cavaliers". There is more than one definition for cavalier (and by extension, the plural form "cavaliers") so I redirected to cavalier disambiguous. I'm unsure why you redirected it to cavaliers (royalist) however. I understand checking the link "what links here", I'll be sure to check that in the future. However, IMHO cavaliers should point to the disambiguous page not royalist. Netkinetic 23:45, 21 April 2006 (UTC)

List of hardcore punk bands

I notice you've been maintaining List of hardcore punk bands, and that you cut it back to the ones with articles. If every band in there has an article, it can just be a redirect to the category. Then the database engine will maintain the page automatically. I've put a "see also" link to the category at the top of the article, and a note on the talk page suggesting that fans work to get the right category tags in their band's articles. In time, I'd like to get rid of some of the longer "list of" articles that duplicate categories. They take too much maintenance time, and it's not being done.

Until then, the page needs a hardcore fan to keep the thing up to date. Is that you? The article needs some minor maintenance again - somebody added some bad links. --John Nagle 17:47, 25 April 2006 (UTC)

I wanted to stop by and thank you for your constructive criticism of my RFA. It's helped, and is helping, to improve me as a wikipedian and an editor. I look forward to gaining your support in the future. Until then, keep on keepin on. SWATJester Ready Aim Fire! 19:27, 29 April 2006 (UTC)
