DYK for Joseph Crews
On 11 July 2020, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Joseph Crews, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Joseph Crews, who organized a militia to mobilize African-American voters in South Carolina, was assassinated by whites in the run-up to the 1876 gubernatorial election? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Joseph Crews. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Joseph Crews), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

- I don't think the state militias were organized to mobilize African American voters. I think the sources said they were established to defend them from attacks and intimidation. FloridaArmy (talk) 00:47, 11 July 2020 (UTC)

Fiddle Faddle 18:17, 11 July 2020 (UTC)You seem to be having a good run of Draft: acceptance
I think it's great that you're creating so many articles, and I want to offer you thanks for that.
I know you have some sort of advisory sanction or similar suggesting that you only create articles via WP:AFC and I can see that this has improved your thinking about how an article should be formed for survival in main article space. I know most of your creations are of stubs and articles a smidgen longer than a stub, and that is how we all started. I think that's great.
I'm wondering a couple of things:
- How and when do you get the constraint only to create articles via WP:AFC lifted? Do you have to apply for it or is in in the gift of a particular editor or group of editors?
- When that happens, what are your thoughts about applying to review drafts at AFC from time to time?
Keep up the good work, and keep up the continuous improvement. Well done from me! Fiddle Faddle 07:16, 12 July 2020 (UTC)
- User:Timtrent, as far as I know the only way to get the constraints lifted would be to appeal them. I guess at ANI? No idea.
- Maybe someone can link to the original ruling and / or restrictions. I don't even know how to tell how many submissions I've made which is the basis for the new restriction.
- The whole notion of too many articles is offensive. Especially when many that I've started are on underrepresented and significant historical subjects. No restriction was ever needed. If the community wanted entries created in draftspace before article space they should just make it policy. I respect that this is now consensus even though.it gors against our current policies.
- I am happy to help in various areas including AfC. I used to spend a lot of time at AfD but part of the ruling was that I am blocked there too after I saved too many articles and deletion nominators came after me. It is what it is. FloridaArmy (talk) 18:39, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
- I've no idea where to look, I'm afraid. I returned recently after a long wikibreak of several years. I think a subtle question to a single admin whom you have found to be sympathetic asking "Could you advise me how I might apply to get the editing restrictions on me lifted, please?"
- Like all editors you create some good and some less good articles. Me too. It simply seems to me that you are more good to the project when your leash is removed. Of course I was not around when they leashed you. You might have been a very naughty editor! Fiddle Faddle 18:44, 13 July 2020 (UTC)
