Hi Fluffystar, and thank you for your feedback. Whilst there has been some progress at MediaWiki towards a WYSIWYG editor (there are some patches and downloads listed here which aim at achieving a more intuitive editing experience), we're likely to be slogging along with markup for a whiile yet. That said, it honestly is pretty easy once you get the hang of it - I don't know my ASCII from my elbo.ws, but I'm now more comfortable writing in markup than in plain text (which causes some problems with word processors and emails...). If the full list of markup expressions is a bit daunting, you can find all the most common ones at the cheatsheet. And if you get completely stuck, feel free to contact me on my talkpage, or use the helpdesk.

Per your message, I've left an "oppose" on the talk page of the pre-2005 list. As I've mentioned there, I don't like the rather ugly expression "List of 3D films till 2004". Would you support a move to "List of 3D films pre-2005" ? Barry Wom (talk) 08:04, 13 April 2012 (UTC)Reply

Hi. When you recently edited Anaglyph 3D, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Mark Rein (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Playmatic

edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Playmatic, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://home-and-repairs.blogspot.com/2009/03/list-of-playmatic-pinball-machines.html.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. Cite template issues

edit

Hi, Fluffystar. I've been looking at early 3D movies and I've noticed some of the articles were started by you. Thank you for that. I also noticed that they often include incorrectly used cite templates, which throw CS1 errors. For instance, the The Power of Love (film) and Robinzon Kruzo articles. I already cleaned up the latter. You created these a while ago so you may know how to better use the cite templates now but just in case not, I'll help with a few points. The |date= parameter is the date of the source, not for the access date. Use |accessdate= for that. Also, please don't use a period as the value in |first=. That parameter requires |last= to be used and it should always contain the names of an author. You can find out more by reading the cite template docs, e.g. Template:Cite_web/doc. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me. Cheers, Jason Quinn (talk) 10:30, 11 November 2014 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open!

edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Replaceable non-free use File:Space Shuttle (pinball).jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Space Shuttle (pinball).jpg. I noticed that this file is being used under a claim of non-free use. However, I think that the way it is being used fails the first non-free content criterion. This criterion states that files used under claims of non-free use may have no free equivalent; in other words, if the file could be adequately covered by a freely-licensed file or by text alone, then it may not be used on Wikipedia. If you believe this file is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the file description page and add the text {{Di-replaceable non-free use disputed|<your reason>}} below the original replaceable non-free use template, replacing <your reason> with a short explanation of why the file is not replaceable.
  2. On the file discussion page, write a full explanation of why you believe the file is not replaceable.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media item by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by creating new media yourself (for example, by taking your own photograph of the subject).

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these media fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification, per the non-free content policy. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

This bot DID NOT nominate any of your contributions for deletion; please refer to the history of each individual page for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 4 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
