Your comments on Gudrun Sjödén page

Hallo FoCuSandLeArN! I am new in Wikipedia, since July and have done my first new articel (Gudrun Sjödén). I have now added references on this page. Is it ready to publish know, who decides that? And if it is ready, how/what do I do to make it visible for everybody? Please help me out.--Maruschkanova (talk) 14:35, 13 September 2013 (UTC) And please tell me if I should have written this message somewhere else. Thanks a lot for your help.

Hello there! Make sure you provide extensive coverage in independent and reliable sources, as well as address any other issues other reviewers might point out. Once you do that, click on the "resubmit" button at the top of the submission's page. It will be reviewed again (it might take some time), and if it's accepted, it'll be moved to the encyclopaedia. Regards, FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 15:23, 15 September 2013 (UTC)

Mining

Dear FoCuSandLeArN

I am working in the mine action (mine clearance, demining) industry since quite some years. During this time, I have gained some market insights and have also successfully created one article in Wikipedia (SM-EOD).

I have now submitted a new article (this topic) which has been commented by you as follows: No extensive coverage in independent nor reliable sources.

I have used my knowledge from a neutral perspective to build this article which should be broad and extensive enough to cover this basic article. There is no conflict of interests or similar. Therefore I am wondering what else you require to complete this article. The sources mainly base on my insight knowledge as well as information available to the public.

I hope you can assist me in the process to complete this. Thanks and best regards Eyewash — Preceding unsigned comment added by Eyewash1 (talkcontribs) 11:34, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

Hello there. Unfortunately, as Wikipedia's policy clearly states, articles must be based on demonstrable facts, and not from "inside knowledge". If you have said independent referencing, please cite the appropriate sources and resubmit the article. Regards, FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 15:39, 17 September 2013 (UTC)

Wikipedia_talk:Articles for creation/Mitchell, The Little Badger

The article I just wrote was rejected because of "No extensive coverage in independent nor reliable sources, therefore non-notable".

The book is sold by companies like Amazon, Barnes & Noble, etc. I believe it complies with reliability. It might not have extensive coverage yet but, it does not mean it won't have it in the future. You can even find the book in the library close to my house http://fcplcat.fairfaxcounty.gov/uhtbin/cgisirsi/?ps=uHqlfSMPxg/ZTECHOPS/254630015/60/1180/X

My son loved this book and asked me to write an article in Wikepedia since he loves this website. Please review the article again and let me know if there is anything I can do from my side in order to get it created.Berrifa (talk) 15:05, 19 September 2013 (UTC)

What you've mentioned is a common issue at Articles for Creation. Amazon and B&N are not reliable sources of information, given books need to be notable in order to be included in the encyclopaedia. If as you say, the book has extensive coverage (in independent and reliabl sources) in the future, please resubmit the article when the time comes. See WP:NBOOK is you need further information. about my submission

I don't understand why it's not accepted?

I listed sites to show what I do. What else do I have to do to prove this page is me and why is should be included?

I also have a wiki page for my experimental/noise work (as Richard Ramirez, musician). I am also a fashion designer under the name, Richard Saenz. — Preceding unsigned comment added by RichardRamirez (talkcontribs) 17:57, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

First of all, autobiographies are sternly discouraged on Wikipedia. Secondly, the reasons for my decline are clearly stated. The submission lacks extensive coverage in independent and reliable sources, and is therefore non-notable, meaning it can't be included in Wikipedia. Re Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Franz Hitz

Hi FoCuSandLeArN, I saw your note at WikiProject Classical music. I've expanded the draft, copy-edited it, and referenced it to the point of it becoming a viable stub. I've gone ahead and moved it into article space, left a personal not on the creator's page, and added the AfC banner to the talk page. I find the whole AfC template thingies and reviewer's script terribly arcane and just move appropriate articles into main space when I see them and leave a manual notice at the creator's talk page. Hopefully, that's OK? Best, Voceditenore (talk) 18:02, 22 September 2013 (UTC)

Sure thing. Most of us at AfC would agree with you. As long as experienced editors are being bold enough to approve good articles, all of us are happy! Thanks for your help, FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 22:14, 22 September 2013 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Dussehra (film)

The article Dussehra (film) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Neither the current revision or past revisions demonstrate that this film meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines. Note: One or more major contributors may be currently blocked and unable to remove this proposed deletion template. Additional eyeballs are requested to review and improve this page if the film is notable.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.

I am notifying you because you previously declined this when it was an AFC submission and due to editor-blocks, more eyeballs are better. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs) 19:49, 27 September 2013 (UTC)

I agree. Don't see why it shouldn't be deleted. FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 20:00, 27 September 2013 (UTC)

new article for Jesse Schwartzman

Good morning - Just wanted to check in and make sure there is nothing else I need to do for the resubmission of the article I created for Jesse Schwartzman.

After your initial comments, I resubmitted over 3 weeks ago.

Look forward to hearing back from you.

Thanks.

Hello! There's still a substandard amount of references, as to whether he's notable or not, there doesn't seem to be a unified Lacrosse notability guideline, and for that reason I've contacted the WikiProject Lacrosse people to see if they can give us a hand. ebv-sisRNA article creation

Hello and thank you for your review/comment on my "Ebv-sisRNA" submission. I am creating this article to be linked to the RNA families (Rfam) database. There are currently three known EBV RNA families that have their own WikiPages and Rfam entries: for the EBERs the Epstein-Barr virus snoRNA1 and Epstein-Barr virus nuclear antigen (EBNA) IRES (please see these articles). What I'm submitting is in-line with these previous entries and, once linked to Rfam, will be a valuable addition to both Rfam and Wikipedia. I ask that you please reconsider your decision/comment. If you feel it helpful I will add more to the intro of this article about other sisRNAs and EBV structured RNAs. Thank you.

-walternmoss

Hello there! I'm for the addition of the article, I'm just pointing out some ways to improve it. For instance, the snoRNA1 article states "This snoRNA is the first known example of a snoRNA expressed from a viral genome", that is an assertion of notability. We need extensive referencing (not primary sourced) that corroborated this notability. Regards, FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 17:41, 5 October 2013 (UTC)

Thank you. I am, however, a bit confused. Did you want me to edit Epstein-Barr virus snoRNA1? I did not create this entry and was not involved in that work. I only linked to that page to better integrate this new (ebv-sisRNA) entry into the "community" of currently-known EBV RNA families. I'm happy to try and satisfy the notability criteria for the v-snoRNA though: I added a secondary reference to help support this claim.

And thank you for your recommendations on the ebv-sisRNA entry. I've been adding additional links to other wikipages to explain some of the technical terms I used. I'm not experienced with this type of writing and find it really different from academic publishing. Additional tips or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again. Walternmoss (Walternmoss|talk)

Hello again! That was just an example. I was wondering whether it merited a separate article, but having highlighted those other articles I guess you could make a point for their inclusion, albeit still fulfilling the appropriate notability guidelines. Would you like to get in touch with the Cell Biology Wikipedians? They might have their own take on things :) FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 01:13, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

I think that the Rfam project is associated with the RNA Wikpedia group, which is itself a subgroup of the Mol. & Cell Biology wikiproject. The basic idea is that when people publish new RNA families in the journal RNA Biology they promise to create wikipages describing the family that then get linked to the Rfam database. Some, like the v-snoRNA1 are pretty stubby, others like the Small nucleolar RNA are really beautiful. I think the hope is that as more gets published on each new RNA, these stubby entries will grow in importance (that's certainly my hope for the ebv-sisRNAs and the influenza seg7 pseudoknot). Thanks again,

Walternmoss (Walternmoss|talk) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Walternmoss (talkcontribs) 13:11, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

Sounds great. Just keep in mind that it's always good to make it look encyclopaedic, i.e. explain in lay language why that particular piece of RNA is important. Regards and hope you keep contributing! FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 15:02, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

AfC: J. D. Tytler

Thanks for your review. I haven't been happy myself with the references - specifically the lack of sources other than the two school websites. However, I'm surprised that you conclude that the subject is a non-notable person. There are (at least) three Wikipedia articles on institutions set up by him. I do not take them as reliable sources - just that many Wikipedia editors (I'm not one of them - no POV) consider these notable. It seems logical that their founder is also notable, even without other contributions. Anyway, thanks for your time and your suggestions for improvement. I'll work on it. Amuk (talk) 14:07, 13 October 2013 (UTC)

Hello! Thanks for getting back to me. When I say non-notable I am not saying that the person is definitely non-notable, just that the references provided are not enough to establish that notability, hence my diatribe about sources :) We worship sources. Notability is inherent and not by association, so if you can provide extensive coverage, that would be great! Regards, FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 11:40, 14 October 2013 (UTC)
Thanks a lot! I'm working on it. Amuk (talk) 08:55, 15 October 2013 (UTC)

Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Collect

Hi Focusand learn; I saw you left Collectrewardsapp a nice welcome note and blanked their contribution. But deleting that page as advertising only is probably more proper, and in addition their user name was a clear violation of the user name policy, so I blocked them. Hello! Yes, I did contemplate that option, but the AfC script no longer allows for CSD under G11 automatically, and I wanted to follow that process instead of directly submitting for deletion. AfC: Articles for creation/String Trios Nos. 3–5, Op. 9 (Beethoven)

Hi FoCuSandLeArN. Me again. I saw your notice about this draft at WikiProject Classical Music. I've done some clean up, copy-editing, additions, and referencing. However, parts of the draft (the last 4 paragraphs of the "Background" section) still need a lot of work. I've left a comment on the draft page and suggested a possible solution. let me know what you think. Best, Voceditenore (talk) 08:31, 11 October 2013 (UTC)

Thanks again for your time! I didn't know you were a member of that Project too. I agree with your comments, and I think it'll be fair enough if I went ahead and accepted the article with the appropriate tags. Let's hope the author keeps working on it. Oh and before I do, what do you think should be the name of the article? Regards, FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 12:37, 11 October 2013 (UTC)
I'm not a member there, but I keep the talk page on watch as there's often a lot of overlap with the Opera Project. Anyhow, using Piano Trios, Op. 1 (Beethoven) as a model, I'd move it to String Trios, Op. 9 (Beethoven). The folks at the Classical Music project can always tweak the title later, if it's not quite right. If the editor doesn't fix after a while, I'll move the essay bits to the talk page. There will still be the basic information in the article with proper refs. Best, Voceditenore (talk) 13:17, 11 October 2013 (UTC)
Super! FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 16:44, 11 October 2013 (UTC)
Yep. :) It worked out well. I'm so glad you've been reaching out to the projects with these kinds of articles. Thanks so much! Do any of your colleagues do this as well? Have other projects been a help? Just curious. Best, Voceditenore (talk) 18:27, 11 October 2013 (UTC)
No worries, it's what we're supposed to do. Thank you for responding! I've been doing it for some time now, given the dire situation we face, although the Project as a whole has just started doing it for a little while. I'd say perhaps Chemistry, Medicine and Roads have been the most cooperative, most of the other are inactive. It would be really helpful if the Projects themselves had a few users who regularly patrolled submissions, but I guess nobody has the time. Regards, FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 11:37, 14 October 2013 (UTC)
Yes, it's basically a time issue, mainly because there is currently no way that the AfC drafts relevant to a project can appear in a single list or category for people to monitor. Plowing through thousands of articles is impossible. Has AfC figured out any way this could be remedied? If it does, I'll be happy to monitor it and try to get some of my colleagues to do so as well. Having said that, today I picked one day at random from Category:AfC submissions by date and immediately recognized a name—a very notable musicologist with loads of incoming links. I've cleaned it up and moved to article space as Lawrence Kramer (musicologist). But that was a sheer accident. I think another issue is that non-AfC people find the whole process arcane and off-putting with all its special scripts, templates (most of which can't be found without the script), "requirements" (some of which are rather silly), etc. and are afraid of making a mistake. I just blunder ahead and move appropriate drafts into article space, but not everyone is willing to do so. Best, Voceditenore (talk) 12:10, 18 October 2013 (UTC)
Yes, we've talked about that before, but it's not easy to classify all incoming submissions by topic. Ha ha, that's basically what we do, plowing...but to tell you the truth, I see at least 2 articles like this a week. If I have any news about the process, I'll let you know! FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 12:12, 21 October 2013 (UTC)

Vibrolush Submission

Hi-

I'm confused why our submssion is being denied.

The comment was that there was "not enough independent or verifiable sources, thus not notable"

I thought that we provided verifiable third party links (see three footnoted/links) to show that the band had two major record deals/two album releases/major radio airplay and a Billbaord charted single, thus is a "notable" band per your criteria.

Please advise what we can do to correct this. Thanks in advance. Vibrolush1 (talk) 17:03, 18 October 2013 (UTC)

Those sources do not qualify as independent nor reliable. Please read the aforementioned policies. Regards, FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 12:08, 21 October 2013 (UTC)

Start over?

Hi FoCuSalandLeArN,

I remember starting college (a millennium ago) and was a very poor

student, and profs and counselors saying "Some people are made for academia and others aren't.

It wasn't until the release of Animal House that I realized that was "a kind

Dean Wormer" talking to John Belushi.

I still have some learning defects and don't catch on fast, but would love

to learn.

It appears I need to start over with a new title; but how do I figure out

what to do after that? The troom? Tutorials? Both?

Thanks sincerely for the edit and help.

[AfC/The Nameless Heroes (Band)]

AfC/The Nameless Heroes (Band)

Hi FoCuSandLeArn, Thanks for reviewing my submission. I'd like to humbly contest your reason for declining my submission though. One of the sources cited in the article is [The Philippine Daily Inquirer] , dubbed as - according to Inquirer's Wiki, "...one of the Philippines' newspapers of record..." and "...a member of the Asia News Network." Are you telling me that they are allowing their writer's to be partial when writing content for publishing? and that they are not independent or reliable?.

For some of the sources included for the article I would concede, but not for the above mentioned Inquirer.

I would also like to state that the company stated - MTV Philippines, as their label is no longer operational. Hence, the unavailability of data to be verified online. But physical data, (magazine cutouts; newspaper clippings) are all available and verifiable coming from "independent and reliable" sources that you might be looking for if you have the time to visit the Philippines.

I added third party sources (e.g. Magazines and Newspapers Published in the Philippines such as Meg Magazine, Manual Magazine(Philippines) and Manila Standard Today.) in my References section and citations are placed after the corresponding statements. Actual documents can be verified physically or via scanned images if needed.

Thank you, With warm regards, --Allanagainstall (talk) 03:36, 23 October 2013 (UTC)

It's only a minor mention. The group doesn't seem to be notable. You'll have to provide better sources. Thank you, FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 12:15, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi all. Amuk, I've taken the liberty of fixing the link in the header. It was pointing to Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/String Trios Nos. 3–5, Op. 9 (Beethoven), a completely different subject. Unfortunately, Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/J. D. Tytler but is not an area I normally edit in. The references seem a bit thin, but from what I can see on Google Books these two (already in the article) probably push him over the line to notability:
  • Menon, Rekha (1961). Cultural Profiles Vol. 1. India: Inter-National Cultural Centre. pp. 72–73. (see snippet. It looks like a whole profile was devoted to him.)
  • Sharma, Ajay Kumar (2011). A History of Educational Institutions in Delhi. New Delhi: Sanbun Publishers. pp. 286–287. ISBN 938021314X. {{cite book}}: External link in |title= (help)
See also the snippets from this magazine and this one. I think it would have a very good chance of surviving an AfD, although I hope it wouldn't end up there. Hope this helps. Voceditenore (talk) 13:14, 24 October 2013 (UTC)

Aeryon

Hello FoCuSandLeArN,

I have just received your message about my recent request to have a page created for the Aeryon SkyRanger: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/Aeryon_SkyRanger

Could you provide more information to help me understand what is required? This is a new wikipedia that was started by another author for a new product that has few users or third party sources to provide as references. I have completed the missing details (and removed some previous copy that wasn't approved). Most of the copy is based on what has been published for the Aeryon Scout https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aeryon_Scout since the products are very similar. I am unsure of the specifics that need to be modified for the Aeryon SkyRanger page.

Best regards, AeryonLabs (talk) 20:00, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

If it has little coverage from third party sources then I'm afraid it won't be accepted. Extensive coverage from independent and reliable sources is needed, otherwise its notability can't be established. An article must be worthy of inclusion to the encyclopaedia, and this one just looks like a product description. I nominated the mentioned article for deletion on those same grounds. Also, I suspect WP:COI might be useful reading. Regards, FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 11:25, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

Nobel winners and their associations do not establish notability. The fact that the article counts with extensive coverage in independent and reliable sources does, which you haven't provided. Also, please have a look at WP:ACADEMIC and follow that guideline. Unfortunately, I cannot work on every article I review (dozens a day). Regards, FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 11:19, 29 October 2013 (UTC)

you need definition of the word founder? Or a metric for founding a peer reviewed journal ?!? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.40.121.44 (talk) 11:09, 10 November 2013 (UTC)

Viztu Technologies "Notability"

Hi FoCuSandLeArN,

I'm hoping you can help me understand what more you'd like in the way of reliable sources to establish notability. I have sources from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), MIT, South by Southwest (SXSW) and 3D Systems. All of these are national or international organizations. I've included the link below for your convenience. Thanks!

It needs extensive coverage in independent and reliable sources. Those policies are quite straightforward. If you have any questions please ask. See WP:CORP and WP:COI as well. Regards, FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 12:08, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi FoCuSandLeArN,

I've added several new independent and reliable sources from the 3D printing community as well as the financial M&A community. Please let me know what you think. Thanks! From your comment above, are you saying that you don't consider the SEC, MIT or SXSW to be independent & reliable? I know that the links to Facebook, the mouthOpener YouTube video etc. aren't independent, but I wanted to include them because much of Viztu's web presence has been removed and rolled into 3D System's products, and so these pages are some of the only remaining "original" content created by the company. If you think they shouldn't be included for reliability reasons, let me know and I'll remove them. Many Thanks!

We expect extensive external coverage, which can include magazines, newspapers or other news outlets, books, etc. It can also be reviews by notable professionals in the field. FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 18:49, 31 October 2013 (UTC)

Webdefy - 18 March 2013

Hi. You have declined the post https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/webdefy on March 18 2013 stating "This submission is not adequately supported by reliable sources". I believe i have added reliable sources pertaining to webdefy.

Kindly, let me know if any other information is to be added to the same to get it live.

Thanks in advance.

Russelnickson (talk) 16:54, 10 November 2013 (UTC)russelnickson

The only reliable source I could find is the one from The Hindu. If you can find more like that one, please place them. FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 12:59, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
Found these,

Webdefy's presence in one of the Oxford's startup fair event. Featured on their website. http://oxfordstartupfair.enternships.com/

Webdefy's presence on Facebook with +1600 followers. https://www.facebook.com/Webdefy

Webdefy's Linkedin profile http://www.linkedin.com/company/webdefy

Online Portfolio Webdefy's Pinterest profile www.pinterest.com/webdefy2012

Webdefy's Behance profile http://www.behance.net/webdefy

Moreover, all of the websites they have done have their mention.

Would these information be enough or Should i look out for particular information for its approval? Please advise.

Also, i would like to bring to your notice that this page existed before. But, it faced deletion cause it was updated with content pertaining to promo. Hence, This is an effort to overcome it.

Thanks in advance.

Hello again. Unfortunately, those references are not independent. We need sources such as newspapers, magazines, books, reviews, etc. Regards, FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 16:38, 11 November 2013 (UTC)
Oh. But isn't one featuring in a national reputed newspaper enough to substantiate webdefy's authenticity? Being a startup campany and having a good portfolio of works with several companies should entitle it a wikipedia article right?. Please correct me if i am wrong.

Also, I have rechecked the article one more time to make sure its entire content is from authentic sources either from the Hindu article or from "Self-published sources as sources on themselves" as per WP:ABOUTSELF. Hope to get the article published. Thanks in advance. Russelnickson (talk) 20:27, 11 November 2013 (UTC)russelnickson

  • I'm sorry, but nothing is "entitled" an article on Wikipedia. As you very well said, you count with one notable article (which actually looks like a paid press release), whereas we need EXTENSIVE coverage in independent and reliable sources. It seems the website is non-notable at the moment. You might also want to read WP:COI, given your poise to have this accepted. Regards, FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 13:18, 12 November 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Elimu T. Tabasuri

Hello,

I just read your comments about declining this article. I am trying to figure what more do you need as far a references? Are the albums that this producer has not enough of a reference. Also, Bun B has an just released Trill OG Epilogue on November 11, 2013, and the first single "Triller" was produced by Big E (Elimu Tabasuri). There are other artist in your database that list him also as a producer on different records. So what are the steps that I need to follow in order to get this article accepted?

Hello there! You need to include extensive coverage in independent and reliable sources, such as I stated in the article. These include newspapers, books, magazines, notable reviews, etc. Notability isn't established by association nor by albums released. Regards, FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 11:33, 19 November 2013 (UTC)

Babak Zakeri

Hi,

I just reviewed your notes on the declined article for "Hossein Zakeri".

Most of those papers are international or conference papers, reviewed by referees, and published in valid and reliable journals in math. And I don't know how I can satisfy the "independence and reliable" requirement about the sources. The topic is pure science, reviewed by referees, and if accepted is published.

About your note on no extensive coverage, I can search for papers from other people that are referencing his work and provide them too. But if you follow the titles of the papers from beginning, they include the foundation, and later its use in other topics.

Please note that I have tried to be realistic on the margins of his establishments. I have seen some of his colleagues, with lot less accomplishments, having a wikipage.

Also please clarify if having the citations as footnote is a must.

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Babak1981 (talkcontribs) 22:03, 30 November 2013 (UTC)

The references you provided are about the person's own research or are associated with him in some manner. If you read WP:ACADEMIC you'll understand that you need to provide evidence as to why he's notable in his field, and this can only be done through extensive coverage in independent and reliable sources. Footnotes are not a must, but they're the standard on Wikipedia. They're very simple to place. Regards, FoCuSandLeArN (talk) 11:36, 1 December 2013 (UTC)
