ArbCom 2023 Elections voter message

edit

Hello! Voting in the 2023 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 11 December 2023. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2023 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 00:54, 28 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

I know your edits on Vicky Sylvester Mnguember were of good intentions. However, you seemed to be adding unsourced content and links when not necessary. Adding original researches may conflict WP:COI which you should attest to. Please do not add more stress in stuffs like that and since you're new otherwise, do ask me in cases like this. Thanks and cheers. Safari ScribeEdits! Talk! 17:22, 1 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

APPEAL TO BE UNBLOCKED
I truly feel  sorry for the mess I have caused. I understand I was blocked because of my unruly behavior with an impression of a WP:PAID and WP:COI impression,  but I never meant it to be so, and I am not a paid editor. I am just a novice, kind of a newbie trying to be better, and I am sorry. I will be more careful next time if unblocked. I promise not to let the reasons for this blockage repeat itself. I sincerely apologize.
Moreso, my conduct is not intended to be disruptive or cause any damage whatsoever. For this again, I sincerely apologize and promise not to let the reason for being blocked repeat itself. Frankincense Diala (talk) 11:50, 16 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

@Frankincense Diala When you submit a draft for a review you must expect a review to be given. It is usual to take the advice in the review.
Regrettably, your draft had so many faults that it made me look at your other work, both here and on Wikimedia Commons, where I found other failings. It would be remiss of me not to flag those failings. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 21:21, 5 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello Frankincense Diala. The nature of your edits gives the impression you have an undisclosed financial stake in promoting a topic, but you have not complied with Wikipedia's mandatory paid editing disclosure requirements. Paid advocacy is a category of conflict of interest (COI) editing that involves being employed (or being compensated in any way) by a person, group, company or organization to promote their interests. Paid advocacy on Wikipedia must be disclosed even if you have not specifically been asked to edit Wikipedia. Undisclosed paid advocacy is prohibited by our policies on neutral point of view and what Wikipedia is not, and is an especially serious type of COI; the Wikimedia Foundation regards it as a "black hat" practice akin to black-hat search-engine optimization.

Paid advocates are strongly discouraged from direct article editing, and should instead propose changes on the talk page of the article in question if an article exists. If the article does not exist, paid advocates are strongly discouraged from attempting to write an article at all. At best, any proposed article creation should be submitted through the articles for creation process, rather than directly.

Regardless, if you are receiving or expect to receive compensation for your edits, broadly construed, you are required by the Wikimedia Terms of Use to disclose your employer, client and affiliation. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page at User:Frankincense Diala. The template {{Paid}} can be used for this purpose – e.g. in the form: {{paid|user=Frankincense Diala|employer=InsertName|client=InsertName}}. If I am mistaken – you are not being directly or indirectly compensated for your edits – please state that in response to this message. Otherwise, please provide the required disclosure. In either case, do not edit further until you answer this message. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 16:02, 5 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

You are mistaken that I am being compensated for this edit. Please that's not true. You are getting it all wrong. You can do better by being more of a helper. Frankincense Diala (talk) 18:33, 5 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for the answer to this simple question, one that every editor may be asked at some time in their editing career. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 18:53, 5 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
You are welcome. Futhermore, Permit me to refer you to the citations, especially the ones under Publications and Awards/Honors, on the Adeleke article, you will see they are from reliable sources (I believe you know Nigerian authority sites well). Media sites like Vanguard is even on Wikipedia. I wish you help me push it to main space. Thank you in anticipation. Frankincense Diala (talk) 19:01, 5 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
Please attend to the multitude of problems in the draft. By telling you about them I have helped you. You wish it to be an article, so you have to do the work. The reviewer's job ends at the review. We are to accept it if we believe it has a better than 50% chance of surviving an immediate deletion process. I do not believe it in the case of your draft, so I have declined it with substantial advice. I don't much care if you ignore the advice, but your doing to in a blatant manner is irritating and I have expressed my irritation in a further review. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 21:08, 5 July 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm DoubleGrazing. I noticed that you made a comment that didn't seem very civil, so it may have been removed. If it takes your being blocked to "I just realized I went about it the wrong way." then it makes me wonder whether you are ever likely to be a collegial editor. The behaviour, while not irredeemable, has been questionable, to put it mildly. 🇺🇦 FiddleTimtrent FaddleTalk to me 🇺🇦 17:38, 10 July 2024 (UTC)Reply
