Fugitive Projects correcting A7 criteria and removal of banners request
Hi Freshacconci. Thank you for your comments regarding Fugitive projects. I believe this article fulfilled Wikipedia's notabiliy guidelines by referencing a published, third-party source about the subject via David Maddo's' article in the Nashville Scene (linked). http://www.nashvillescene.com/2004-07-29/news/art-now/ The Nashville Scene is the weekly for Nashville and Maddox is a regular contributor to many cultural papers including Art Papers, Number and The Tennessean. This linked source is from an 8 page cover story dedicated to this art collective, Fugitive Projects. I also fortified A7 criteria with another referenced source (Susan Knowles). As a Professor of Art on the west coast, and an enthusiast of southern art vernaculars it is my long(ish) term hope to connect and document artistic initiatives like Fugitive Projects, SEED, and Lump from this region. Thank you. Tom Arthur Tom arthur (talk) 20:20, 8 December 2008 (UTC)
PS-can you remove the banner from Fugitive projects if this answers your questions? Thank you for your time. Tom arthur (talk) 20:20, 8 December 2008 (UTC)

Artforum Culture Foundation your permanent removals of new etits.
Hi Mr Freshacconci, thank you fpr your busy control of contribution for wikipedia in genera´l. But in detail for Artforum Culture Foundation you are wrong. The discription has nothing to do with advertisment. It describes the newest situation of this foundation. If you thing any information is wrong, please tell it in detail. Before further comments, please have a look on the foundations website and also on other contribitions in Wikipedia en/de or gr. THank you for your attention. Talk Pages
You are indeed correct. I would also refer you to Wikipedia:Don't restore removed comments. Additionally, WP:UP#CMT states that "restoring talk page warnings is not a listed exception to the three-revert rule." I understand that you are trying to be helpful, but engaging in an edit war is not the proper way to go about it. I also withdraw my accusation of vandalism because you acted in good faith. But any intentional violation of the three-revert rule from this point forward will be another matter.216.183.171.30 (talk) 16:37, 15 January 2009 (UTC)
Gino Cavicchioli
If you have time can you check out this article Gino Cavicchioli it appears to me that it is being edited by the artist or someone close using two user names Northern lights 3000 and Mcavicchioli. The artist is Canadian so you may know of him. Thanks. TeapotgeorgeTalk 09:33, 16 January 2009 (UTC)
- To say he's "world-renowned" is more than bit of a stretch, at least outside the world of hockey. So, he's an artist that hockey and Canadian football fans know. I suppose that's notable. But yes, this needs watching. I'll watchlist it and see what's going on. (And, no, this one has not crossed my radar before this). Thanks for the heads-up. freshacconci talktalk 16:23, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Relational Aesthetics vs Relational Art
At the bottom of the Relational Art page it says 'As a term, "Relational Art" has become accepted over "Relational Aesthetics" by the art world...' As far as I can tell, this claim is unsubstantiated, and evidence suggests the opposite is true. e.g. there are five times more references to the phrase "Relational Aesthetics" than "Relational Art" on Google. Restricting the search to popular art sites (Artnet, Artforum etc) or adding a year (e.g. 2009) to the search shows that the trend is very consistent: the dominant term is "Relational Aesthetics". In Jan 2009 [[3]], Jerry Saltz called Relational Esthetics "the most influential stylistic strain to emerge in art since the early 1970s" -- no reference to "Relational Art". Bourriaud used "Relational Art" in the title of an exhibition, but he has always used both terms, and continues to use "Relational Aesthetics" when referring to his book. I notice you have been maintaining the page (thanks!) so I thought I'd drop a comment here first. It seems to me that the page should really reflect common usage and be called "Relational Aesthetics"... Yoursinart (talk) 03:03, 17 January 2009 (UTC)
- I appreciate your comments and I understand your position. I am still finding more and more references to the term "Relational Art". When I changed (redirected) the article from "aesthetics" to art it was based on this momentum within the art world towards the latter term, in addition the the notion that as a descriptive term for an art movement, art was more straightforward. Perhaps "relationalism" would be even better, but there's little evidence of this catching on. Having said that, I am open to it being changed back, or perhaps there should be two articles again. I will take this to the visual arts project to get some input from other editors. freshacconci talktalk 15:18, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
Video Art
Dear freshacconci; thanks for getting in touch. Although the inclusion of an external link to an unpublished paper about Bill Viola's "The Passing" may have appeared to have been made only for reasons of self-promotion I would like to point out that the linked academic paper is relevant to Video Art as a genre because it discusses fundamental qualities of what defines Video Art (sculptural/singular/theatrical vs Total Flow). However, I accept your edit since I'm new to this process and you are a Wiki-senior, and I take your word that the link in question was inappropriate - even though I do not agree with you. With best regards from London, England.
Terry Ananny
Oh, there are plenty of sites willing to host deleted wikipedia articles, like deletionpedia, Wikigrain, and "The Database of Canadian art" (main page here). I wouldn't be surprised if Ananny or a friend founded the last one, but that's beyond my control.... I've had to update the WP:LONG report exponentially. Lithoderm 06:08, 23 January 2009 (UTC)

- To add on here, you need to look at what the definition of vandalism is. Right now, you are having a content dispute with this editor; just because you don't agree with the edits, it doesn't constitute vandalism. Discuss your issues with the other editor on his/her talk page, the article's talk page, come to a comprimise. As a last resort, try dispute resolution. Note that I have tagged this image as replaceable fair-use, as it appears to be strictly a photo of Douglas, being used in the infobox to identify him. As such it would not fit under the Non-free content criteria. Your description implies that it's a work by Douglas; if that's the case, it should be used outside of the infobox and specifically discussed in the article, to better fit the NFC guidelines. --dave pape (talk) 17:32, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Homosocratic
Thanks for your input and efforts to keep the word homosocratic out of wikipedia. I am sure you are intending to do something good and after all, that is you homosocratic contribution to the debate.
I would like you to join me in asking Wikipedia to allow for the entry insignificant facts and non-words. They could simply put a tag on the non-items and allow searchers to decide if they want unworthy article included in their search result.
That wouldn't stop the debates (The best part of Wikipedia in my opinion) but it would allow all the posts to remain for those of us who would rather not be filtered by self appointed thought police or well meaning puritans protecting the English language against progress.

Site-specific Art
Dear Mr.Freshacconci. In advance, I do apologize for my english which is very approximative. I'm a fresh new french user of Wikipedia and I feel sorry for this inappropriate contribution. I'm trying to learn how to use correctly this tool and I was surprised to see that the image that I had uploaded systematically disappeared. I finally understood that I can't modify articles without justify it (which is a good thing). May I explane I wanted to add an example of a site-specific installation which was notable in France when it was made. The historian of Art Jean-Marc Poinsot (who is a specialist about conceptual art and site-specific art) is actually writting an essay about this work. [4]Maybe should we think about a french wikipedia article about site-specific art, which doesn't exist for the moment ? I also understood this is not my role to put an in image of my own work. I didn't do that in a pretentious way, but rather to show that this question is still the center of interrogations for many young artists, even in France. I do apologise for this mistake. You seems to be really scholar with all these questions and i would be delighted to share informations with you thanks to wikipedia. Best regards. Hi there, my father, Gerald Ferguson, was trying to update his wikipedia page but is a novice and didn't understand that you, being the creator and a long time editor was reverting the changes.
Here's the copy he was hoping you would consider instead of what is currently there since he doesn't know how to format wiki pages. So, it wasn't vandalism, just an honest mistake. : )
Gerald Ferguson is a conceptual artist and painter living and working in Halifax, Nova Scotia. He was born in Cincinnati in 1937 and is both a Canadian and US citizen. After receiving his MFA from Ohio University he taught at two institutions before coming to Canada in 1968 to teach at Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Ferguson is represented in numerous public and private collections in Canada, the US and Europe. He has had solo exhibitions at the Dalhousie Art Gallery, the Art Gallery of Ontario, The Vancouver Art Gallery, The Winnipeg Art Gallery and the National Gallery of Canada. In addition to the above art galleries, he also has work in the collection of The Museum of Modern Art in Nw York and the Museum Sztuki, in Lodz, Poland. In 1972-73 he was a visiting professor at the California Institute of the Arts. His work has been regularly reviewed in national and international art journals and news media. In 1996 he was the recipient of The Molson Prize. Ferguson retired from teaching in 1995. He is represented by Wynick/Tuck Gallery in Toronto and Gallery Page & Strange in Halifax.

My page on Conceptual Video art
My full name is Paul Bryan Jonathan Esq. I'm an artist in the field of sound and video, primarily sound. I've attended the Montserrat School of Art in Boston, Massachussetts for my undergrad and am currently working in the Indianapolis area gearing up for Graduate school somewhere (though I haven't yet found a school I like), having shows at such galleries as Alchemy, the Harrisson Center, and the Marsh Gallery (located at the Herron School of Art and Design). I've seen Blue by Darcy White, a Canadian artist, and I was ecstatic to find him (it's a he) on Wikipedia. He has made a fantastic movie with that work, and I was further excited to find that their are other films out there by him like Walk. I'm currently looking for his work for my own interest. I appreciate your interest and your editing, and please continue to do so, but I have to request that you no longer remove Darcy from my page, I think he is wonderful and people should know about him. He's a popular name in the scene right now. Again I appreciate your input, and you may restrict Darcy from other pages if you like, but for my own I humbly request that he stay on, all other edits are fair game. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pbjonathanesquire (talk • contribs) 00:19, 4 June 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I've reverted your upload and removed the edits from the two pages. You uploaded over an existing image File:Wall.jpg which caused some oddness in the two article's it was already used in. You need to pick a non-generic and non-existing name for uploads. Best regards - Peripitus (Talk) 22:15, 4 June 2009 (UTC)
- Hi, Freshannonci. Not a problem at all. I notice that you were the second person to do this for the same file recently - all good now - Peripitus (Talk) 03:51, 5 June 2009 (UTC)

Phil Spector & Realist2
Realist2 is in an edit war because he likes Phil Spector's music. Can you get him banned? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.129.156.83 (talk) 16:00, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
- My biases are quite clear on my userpage, notice there is no mention of Phil Spector or any music of his era. Anyway, I didn't realize liking Mr Spector was a banable (is that a real word?) offense. — R2 16:47, 14 June 2009 (UTC)

Coward
When someone disagrees with you and your sock puppet you run to tags like a little girl. You insulted my wife and myself today after you put your tags on the page. It will never be forgotten regardless. You're a total coward. --Aaron boucher (talk) 06:29, 18 June 2009 (UTC)
- I'm gonna step in here and disagree, your a coward. You don't have the common decency to be nice to someone on the internet, and attempt to settle disputes calmly. You call people names like "Little Girl," Do you realise thats sexist. Your a horrible person. Leave this nice guy alone. Mczack26 SpeakToMe! 09:17, 9 July 2009 (UTC)

Video Artist List
I edited the video artist list because I felt that many on the list were not notable and had placed themselves on the list either directly or indirectly. I apologize for not doing it in the proper way - I am still learning the protocols (obviously!). But I would like to know which of the artists I deleted were in any way notable or established internationally, and should be associated with such pioneers as Paik, Jonas or Vostell?

File source problem with File:Hart of london 1.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Hart of london 1.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 16:13, 14 July 2009 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 16:13, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
- The rationale isn't the problem, You haven't said WHERE you got it, and it clearly isn't your

I just undid your deletion of {{blpo}} from the talk page. This template is specifically for cases where BLP ({{blp}}) does not strictly apply because the subject has just died, but where sensitivity to the family etc is required. – ukexpat (talk) 20:28, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
Little help?
Mr. Acconci, I'm stuck - I can't figure out how to list a page on the "Deletion sorting" categorized page. I've installed Twinkle, as you suggested, but the deletion process it initiates doesn't add the sort. Can you help me with how to add two pages to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:WikiProject_Deletion_sorting/Visual_arts ? I added the following two pages to AfD, and now don't know what to do: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Log/2009_July_20#Flavio_Trevisan http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Daniel_Gauthier Thanks in advance, Deadchildstar (talk) 02:14, 20 July 2009 (UTC)

Re: Marion Harding
Interesting to note the relevance of legal actions given that 'Ernstblumberg' is a handle - the artists's husband Dr. Ernst Blumberg passed away in 1973 and his death certificate can be provided in court upon request. Certainly, any legal ramifications regarding NPOV based upon the mistaken notion that I am the deceased could be construed as libel? I too, am not interested in edit wars but have no problem with libel battles when the biography regards a living person.Ernstblumberg (talk) 21:19, 8 August 2009 (UTC)

From Wikipedia:Content noticeboard
I'm a little worried about Victor Child (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views). I cannot find a single online source to verify this person's existence. I've tried all sorts of combinations of searches, including dates, variations of Victor, searching on Google books, news and web... nothing whatsoever. Perhaps my search skills are not as great as others though, and I know Google isn't everything, so I'd appreciate it if anyone manages to find anything. Thanks, Majorly talk 23:40, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
- I said I'd ask you, as the only editor I know with a beaver in one hand & a brush in the other (as it were) Johnbod (talk) 23:53, 9 August 2009 (UTC)
- Ah, yes. It is all beavers and moose up here. But we do manage to find the time between trapping and tapping to make some contemporary art.
I haven't heard of Victor Child, but the article's creator seems sincere. The sources look legit, but obviously have never been, you know, uploaded in teh internets. I have access to some databases that should at least verify the sources and Child's existence. freshacconci talktalk 00:26, 10 August 2009 (UTC)

WHITE ALBUM SINGLE
I've been explaining this edit for two days: "Back In The U.S.S.R./Twist And Shout" and "Helter Skelter/Got To Get You Into My Life" are from ROCK N ROll MUSIC, not the White Album. Hotcop2 (talk) 12:34, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
- And now you're edit warring. And please don't shout (i.e. use all caps). Try some civility. freshacconci talktalk 12:38, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
I'm not edit warring. The caps were denote a title, if I were yelling the whole would've been in caps. I made the edit with an explanation AND on the White Album discussion page and my edits were continually undone without explanation. Hotcop2 (talk) 12:45, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
- Using all caps for a title makes no sense. Using all caps in a discussion always reads as shouting. In any case, this is a small matter as you are edit warring. Read the warning template on your page (in fact, it appears twice, as this seems to be an issue with you). Frankly I don't care either way whether this info is listed or not. In Wikipedia we work collaboratively and with civility. You don't repeatedly revert edits: this is edit warring. Take it to the talk page. You are perilously close to moving towards some sort of administrative action for your continued disruptions. freshacconci talktalk 12:50, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
I'm sorry that you're taking it as an edit war. It *is* already on the page. It's not my opinion that these singles are not from the White Album; it's a fact. As far as my other recent run-in, again, I had explained (and as per the info included in the article) what that was all about AND did brought it to the discussion page in December 2008 -- but there was no discussion (until recently). But that's over with now, we've reached a consensus on that particular discussion. As far as this single situation is concerned, I brouight it to the discussion page yesterday. Hotcop2 (talk) 12:56, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
- And perhaps you may want to wait for an actual discussion before unilaterally making this change over and over again. That's what an edit war is. freshacconci talktalk 13:00, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
I waited 7 months for the discussion to ensue regarding my other "edit warring" issue -- unfortunately (or fortunately), Wikipedia is cited on countless websites and other venues as "fact" so the quicker an error can be corrected, the better (I think, anyway). Hotcop2 (talk) 13:15, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
Graydon Parrish
Hello. I noticed you added a couple of issues tags to the Graydon Parrish article. You were correct that the article was not properly sourced with references in a clear references section. I've added these. Do they adequately address your concerns? Slinberg (talk) 15:10, 15 August 2009 (UTC)
I don't know how often you check here, but I'd prefer to have a response or dialog before removing the tags, the reasons for which I have hopefully addressed satisfactorily. Could you please let me know, and if you have any remaining issues with the article, could you please be specific about exactly what? Thanks very much. Slinberg (talk) 13:04, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
This is not a template
You and another user were involved in an edit war with a third user at The Beatles (album). You were reverting to factually inaccurate content. Both of these are violations of Wikipedia policy. If you persist, an administrator will deal with you.
I apologise for the generic templates (which you reverted), especially when I'm capable of being more precise myself. Radiopathy •talk• 03:45, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
- This was an issue that was dealt with several hours before you warned me and the other editor was blocked for his disruptive editing. I fully acknowledged I was technically in violation myself but that this was simply an issue of reverting an editor who was being disruptive and not discussing the issue on the talk page. As I've said above, I don't care about the actual information, whether it goes or stays. As far as it being "factually inaccurate information" that's open to debate, so it's not a blockable situation. This was all something that should have been hashed out on the talk page and that's why the other editor was blocked. The blocking admin. was fully aware of my technical violation of 3RR and obviously chose not to block me as I reverting a disruptive editor. As far as I'm concerned, the issue is over. Whatever is decided on the page is fine with me. As I said I was only concerned with the disruptive editing. freshacconci talktalk 12:20, 16 August 2009 (UTC)
Removal of speedy tag from Lucky Star (novel)
I've removed your speedy request tag from this article as it clearly has context - it's a novel by Cathy Cassidy, an author we currently have an article on. At the moment I can't see how this article meets any of the speedy deletion criteria so I'd suggest WP:PROD if you want it deleted. Dpmuk (talk) 15:39, 18 August 2009 (UTC)
Walter Benjamin
You seem to know about Walter Benjamin and about the Avantgarde: I think the sentence in Walter Benjamin (early on) about Aura and Bachofen is complete utter rubish. I believe the late, marxist B. wanted nothing more, but to destroy any emotional baggage, and praised the mechanical reproduction for this reason alone. But I am no B. expert and if I am dead wrong, please say so.--Radh (talk) 11:39, 20 August 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, your take has always been my reading of his idea of the aura as well. It's always surprised (and sometimes annoyed) me that it's read as a lament for the loss, which of course as you say, makes no sense given Benjamin's Marxism. Mechanical reproduction for him was a way to destroy the preciousness of unique art works. Now this is my reading of it, so it would probably be original research. I do know there are texts out there which discuss this in detail, but I would need to do some research; it's been a while. There may even be something written about this common misreading of the work, which would be helpful to explain what it really means (i.e. something along the lines of "many readers interpret Benjamin's take on the aura as a lament for the loss of the aura. However..."). I will pop by the WB talk page and leave my 2 cents there and when I have a bit more time, I'll do some more research. Thanks. freshacconci talktalk 13:10, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
- Thank you, I am very glad to hear that you agree with me on this. I was disturbed by the Bachofen stuff on the WB page. I have tried to find something useful in my very few books on WB, but without much success so far. But there is a short notice in a Charles Werner Haxthausen essay (pdf) on Carl Einstein along our line. And a German Literature student wrote something similar about Benjamin's admiration for Paul Scheerbart, because of his "flat" and anti-metaphysical language, published in the small Germanistik journal Juni (Thomas Fitzel, "...zum verbogenen Anstauner" Walter Benjamin and Paul Scheerbart, in: Juni, 27, 1995, P. 145-166). If I ever manage to find more, I will put it on the WB disc. Bis bald--15:06, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
Regarding removal of Sarkissian from List of Contemporary Artists
You said there was no mistake and that his inclusion does not meet criteria. The only criteria I am aware of is that at the top of the page. Is there anywhere else I should look?
"This is a list of artists who create contemporary art, i.e. those whose peak of activity can be situated somewhere between the 1970s (the advent of postmodernism) and the present day. Artists in this list have gained recognition or proven their importance because their work has been shown in contemporary art exhibitions of worldwide importance, such as the documenta or the Venice Biennale, the Sao Paulo Art Biennial or exhibited in major modern or contemporary art museums and institutes. There may be some overlap with the list of modern artists, since it is difficult to define the boundaries between modern and contemporary art. Add names in alphabetical order."
