Image Tagging Image:North hall.jpg
editThis media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:North hall.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then it needs to be specified where it was found, i.e., in most cases link to the website where it was taken from, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then one should be added. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, consider reading fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, consider checking that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 16:28, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
Edit summaries
editHi Geoboe84! I notice you've been updating quite a few figure skating articles. Thanks! Just one thing: would you mind using edit summaries? It helps people keep track of what's happening to the articles. And perhaps you'd be interested in joining WikiProject Figure Skating. We'd love to have you. Cheers, Fang Aili talk 13:50, 25 September 2006 (UTC)
When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.
Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you. --Fang Aili talk 14:31, 26 September 2006 (UTC)
Skating medals
editI like what you did with the skating articles, almost. This edit seems much better than the current version. For people with color-blindness, the medals with lack of a number (first, second,) may not convey any information. Also, if there is a case where a skater only has bronze or bronze/silver medals, how do you know that the bronze medal is not gold (or vice/versa). What do you think? Medals
editHi Geoboe84
I have put your comment regrading the medal tables here so others see it. But I am going to carry on changing them as discussed. The problem we have is with the images are that is decreases accessibility, and looks ugly.
Gary van der Merwe 08:13, 28 September 2006 (UTC)
- Howdy Geoboe. I don't know about deciding on a "universal" medal box, but there's a pretty strong concensus for non-medal images and years at the top. I agree that we should link the events, especially if they're not linked in the article. --Fang Aili talk 15:10, 2 October 2006 (UTC)
Hi, I'm afraid Portal:Browse is only for listing completed portals. See Wikipedia:Portal for instructions on improving the portals, then once the figure skating portal is finished and polished, you can add it to the lists. Thanks. --Quiddity 21:07, 7 October 2006 (UTC)
License tagging for Image:PA-772.gif
editThanks for uploading Image:PA-772.gif. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 23:09, 8 October 2006 (UTC)

editHello, I noticed that you are a memeber of the PA Highways wikiproject. Well I could use some help. I am currently working on expanding all the Pennsylvania state park articles. An important letter
editDear roads editor,
You may have noticed some changes at WP:USRD lately. Some of them, like the cleanup templates and the stub templates, have been astounding and great. Unfortunately, others have been disturbing.
This has become evidenced by the departure of a few prominent editors at USRD, a few RFC's, and much fighting among USRD editors.
After the second RFC, many of us found the opportunity to take a step away from Wikipedia for a while--as a self-imposed wikibreak, or possibly on vacation.
The result of such introspection was that many of us were placing ourselves in a "walled garden" and on a self-imposed pedestal of authority over the roads department. Also, we were being hostile to a few users who were not agreeing with us.
In fact, IRC has been the main incarnation of this "walled garden." Decisions have been made there to conduct grudges and prejudices against a few valued USRD users with poor justification.
For this, we have come to apologize. We have come to ask your forgiveness.
In addition to this, we hope to work as one USRD team from now on and to encourage cooperation instead of the promotion of interests.
All users are welcome to collaborate on IRC, the newsletter, or anywhere else at USRD.
In the future, please feel free to approach us about any issues you may have.

Unreferenced BLPs
editHello Geoboe84! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 1 of the articles that you created is tagged as an Unreferenced Biography of a Living Person. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring this article up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 6 article backlog. Once the article is adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the article:

Re:US 322 in PA major intersections
editThe reason I removed the junction list from U.S. Route 322 is that another editor said it was not necessary to include a state-specific junction list in an overview article. Once the U.S. Route 322 in Pennsylvania article is created, the junction list can be inserted there. However, creating that article is not of top priority right now as state-detail pages on routes are only needed if the main article becomes too long and we need to put priority into expanding existing articles. ---Dough4872 02:03, 25 March 2010 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use File:Sebestyenjurekszaras.jpg
editThanks for uploading File:Sebestyenjurekszaras.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the media description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 23:53, 21 April 2010 (UTC)

editGreetings Geoboe84. Have you considered applying for autoreviewer "status"? In case you don't know, basically what it means is that your newly created pages (and you've done more than a few!) get automatically marked as good and don't show up as needing human examination on Special:Newpages. You can actually apply for it yourself, but I reckon it's probably easier - probably loads of Wikipedia bureacracy involved - if I get the editor who granted me the rights to do so for you, too. You are now a Reviewer
editHello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.
Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.
When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.
If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 01:35, 17 June 2010 (UTC)
The article Mary Campbell (figure skater) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Unsourced, notability therefore unclear
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. SlimVirgin talk|contribs 01:59, 12 July 2010 (UTC)

I have performed a search with the contents of 1999 Sparkassen Cup, and it appears to be very similar to another Wikipedia page: 1999 Sparkassen Cup on Ice. It is possible that you have accidentally duplicated contents, or made an error while creating the page— you might want to look at the pages and see if that is the case. If you are intentionally trying to rename an article, please see Help:Moving a page for instructions on how to do this without copying and pasting. If you are trying to move or copy content from one article to a different one, please see Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia and be sure you have acknowledged the duplication of material in an edit summary to preserve attribution history.

July 2010
editHi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you recently tried to give a page a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut and paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is needed for attribution and various other purposes. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.
In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page. This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thank you. Owen Edwards
editDear Geoboe84
Thankyou for bringing Owen Edwards competative highlights up to date. It appears that on September 25th you moved him from ice dancer to figure skater. I can confirm that he and his partner Louise Walden are in fact ice dancers. Because of the good work you have done on the competitive highlights I am reluctant to undo this error but ask if you wouldn't mind removing the figure skater tag.

Jeff Buttle
editDear Geoboe84
I read the page for Jeff Buttle today and noticed that you have merged his competition highlights into one table. I think the new one has a better format. However, I noticed that some of the competition results got mixed up and ended up in the wrong years. If you do not mind, could you please fix them?
Sincerely, Seameetsmountain (talk) 21:43, 23 October 2010 (UTC)
Oh, you fixed them so quickly! Thanks a lot.
thank you for the figure skating bio results tables
editThank you for all the figure skating bio result tables. I guess I have used a lot of them for the German Wikipedia. I'm glad you could use one of me too and that you also created an article for Horst Faber and maybe more.--Common Senser (talk) 21:53, 4 November 2010 (UTC)
The article Tamara Téglássy has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Gigs (talk) 20:26, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

The article County Route 28 (Schuyler County, New York) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Non-notable highway. No clear reason for notability established.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hey, I know you're a USRD member however I have to warn you that except for certain cases, this level of county routes in New York are generally and 99% of the time not-notable. ;) I don't want to gripe you for trying, but this isn't a notable road by any means.Mitch32(Can someone turn on the damn air conditioning?) 02:05, 3 May 2011 (UTC)
Your recent list-a-ganza
editYou need to stop creating lists until you start improving them. These 3 lists (Schuyler, Yates & Lancaster) are so bad, that if I didn't want to set a bad precedent on Schuyler and Yates, I'd AFD these in a heartbeat. Schuyler and Yates are in desperate need of expansion. They are full of MOS violations, WP:RJL violations, need expansion desperately. I also suggest getting some practice at WP:GNG and help actually improve the state route articles already there in Pennsylvania, not make new lists that are redundant. PA still has 250+ stubs. Help expand some. Also that Lancaster list is badly cited. The Official PennDOT map does not mark any Quadrant Routes, therefore it can't possibly be cited to this list. PennDOT does provide county maps marking every single one. Use those, not the PennDOT map, because technically its "academic dishonesty" to cite something from a source that doesn't say that. Please try to improve your work before making more stuff.Mitch32(Can someone turn on the damn air conditioning?) 02:15, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
Since there is no way i can respond to you because you don't have a user page, I better post my response here. Wikipedia is supposed to be a comprehensive site of collective minds and facts. I started these lists as a foundation on which to build. I know these lists are stubs and need more work, but I did at least get the ball rolling. As to "Academic Dishonesty", give me a break. I always cite my sources. I'm not a professional author or write, but I do have a B.S. Mapping Technology Degree. Although I listed the official PennDOT map, I intended it to mean their official Lancaster County Map, which by the way, Has PennDOT's Logo Right On It and has the quadrant routes clearly marked! These articles are not bad, because as a said before are not the final product, but just a beginning. All facts and data I have contributed are correct and accurate. I know how the syntax of the junction lists and follow their policies. Stop bashing and maybe you could improve these articles yourself.
P.S. A list is a list, not an article. People use lists to get facts, and not to read a novel.
Thanks
Geoboe84 (talk) 12:58, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
- These lists organize very similar topics together. An article covers a single subject. The content and comprehensiveness of articles/lists fall under the same rules more or less, and only the format is changed. It's not up to us to decide what readers want to read, its up to us to provide what they may want to read in a neutral and unbiased way. This is especially true of lists where the reader may just want to read one entry. Each entry must therefore contain a good coverage of its particular subject. Otherwise, you're just making a text-based map. - ʄɭoʏɗiaɲ τ ¢ 14:27, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
- As for "academic dishonesty", it's more that you didn't specify the specific map used. I see that you changed the article [4], but until you made that change, you indicated a totally different source than what you used. Had someone wished to verify your work, they'd have sought out the wrong map. In the future, try to be very explicit. The best references give publishers, authors/cartographers, dates, titles and such so that anyone can find the specific source. We have {{cite map}} (and {{google maps}}, {{yahoo maps}}, {{bing maps}}) to create consistently formatted citations to maps. When I use any of the citation templates, I always aim to provide the maximum amount of information possible to aid readers in locating a source. Imzadi 1979 → 21:58, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
- P.S. Some of us have fancy signatures. In Mitchazenia's current case, the "Can someone turn on the damn" links to his user page, and "air conditioning" links to his user talk page. Floydian's name links to his page, the superscripted tau/t is his talk page, and the subscripted ¢/cents sign is his contributions list. In mine, stylized to look like a road sign, the numerical portion of my user name has a space inserted, but other wise my name links to my user page, and the arrow links to my talk page. Imzadi 1979 → 22:01, 7 May 2011 (UTC)
Two suggestions for the QR lists
editHey, can you add the 6000s, 8000s and 9000s to this? They are still quadrant routes as much as the rest. Also can you use citation templates from this point ;) Mitch32(Can someone turn on the damn air conditioning?) 14:20, 6 June 2011 (UTC)

- Hi there, when you copy text from other Wikipedia articles, could you make sure that you provide proper attribution, either by saying in the first edit summary where the text has come from, or dropping a note on the article talkpage. It's especially important if you're using what someone else has written, perhaps not as important if you're copying your own work to start with, but it makes sure that everything complies with our licenses. Reassessment - U.S. Figure Skating
editI noticed that you are a member of the WikiProject Figure Skating, and are fairly active. Would you please review and reassess the quality grade of the U.S. Figure Skating article? I have significantly expanded the article and have included numerous citations and references. I understand it is considered bad form to rate one's own work. I believe that the article is now well beyond start and might even rise to the level of "B". Thank you very much. Jcflnj (talk) 15:45, 19 July 2011 (UTC)
Li Chengjiang edit
editHi user,
Our job as editors is to strengthen the quality and quantity of articles online, in accordance to Wikipedia's various policies.
One such tool used for efficient editing is the minor edit option. The idea is to separate undisputed edits from contentious ones. For instance, changing a typo from 'teh' to 'the' would be a minor edit, and may be marked such. The addition of performance standings of an athlete doesn't seem a catholic fact - people, like me, who don't know Li may want to challenge this edit. Hence, this is unlikely to be a minor edit.
You marked your edit (adding the competitive highlights) in the Li Chengjiang article as minor. For a better understanding of minor edits, visit the page here. If you marked it by accident, please look up dummy edits. If you are aware of these policies and still believe your edit was minor, just ignore this :). License tagging for File:Danmarksmestre i skøjteløb.pdf
editThanks for uploading File:Danmarksmestre i skøjteløb.pdf. You don't seem to have indicated the license status of the image. Wikipedia uses a set of image copyright tags to indicate this information.
To add a tag to the image, select the appropriate tag from this list, click on this link, then click "Edit this page" and add the tag to the image's description. If there doesn't seem to be a suitable tag, the image is probably not appropriate for use on Wikipedia. For help in choosing the correct tag, or for any other questions, leave a message on Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. File permission problem with File:Danmarksmestre.pdf
editThanks for uploading File:Danmarksmestre.pdf, which you've sourced to Dansk Skøjte Union. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk) 02:21, 10 October 2011 (UTC)

The McShines of Trinidad
editFollowing is a copy of what you put on my talk page. I copy it here to make sure you see my PS. Blanche of King's Lynn (talk) 18:15, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
Hello Blanche,
I live in the U.S., and my father is from Trinidad. His mother's maiden name was McShine. I noticed that you used the book "The McShines of Trinidad" by Anthony De Verteuil as a reference. Would you happen to know where I could obtain a copy of that book? I have recently started researching my ancestry and have had much luck on my mother's side (all Americans) but not on my father's. Thanks. Geoboe84 (talk) 22:52, 27 January 2012 (UTC)
- Actually, a friend of mine has gotten a copy of it from the Library of Congress in Washington, which had an excess copy which they sent her in exchange for some papers she sent them. I saw the copy at my friend's home. The Library of Congress should be able to give you specific information. Blanche of King's Lynn (talk) 07:47, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
- PS: You can try contacting my friend by mail, her name is Ilana Karmeli and she lives in Israel. Her mail is
<Ilana.karmeli.2009@hotmail.co.il> and she might be able to look up things for you in her copy and perhaps send you photocopies of some relevant passages. But it might take some time for her to answer you, as at the moment she is travelling in Europe and not always having access to her email. Blanche of King's Lynn (talk) 18:15, 29 January 2012 (UTC)
- I got the following information: "The McShines of Trinidad", ISBN 978-976-95008-7-9 Parameter error in {{ISBN}}: checksum, by Anthony De Verteuil, a lecturer at St. Mary's College, Port of Spain, Trinidad, was published 2006 by The Litho Press, Port of Spain, Trinidad. It was sent as a "surplus duplicate" by the Library of Congress, which means that this library has at least one copy of it and possibly more. The book has also gone through "The Blue Edition", 32 St. Vincent St., Funapuna,Trinidad & Tobago W.L. 868-645-8384 -and they might be able to provide a copy. . It tells about a family whose roots are traced back to a John McShine and his wife Caroline nee Arrindel, who were married in the 1860's in Barrouallie, St. Vincent, and who later emigrated to Trinidad to escape a very crushing poverty, and where their descendants rose to considerable local prominence. I don't know if they were among your direct ancestors. After February 20you can write Ilana at the above email address with more specific questions, which she would try to answer with the book in front of her and is ready to photocopy for you any excerpts which would prove to be of particular significance. Good luck! Blanche of King's Lynn (talk) 16:43, 31 January 2012 (UTC)
Hello! Please help me to correct an error in the article about the championship in 1934. In pairs skating, Hildegarde Schwarz / Eduards Goskhel, designated as a couple from the Soviet Union, but we know that the USSR did not participate skaters international competitions before the 50s. In the source on which to write the article, is the Soviet Union, but I've never heard of such a skater (I'm from Russia and I write articles about figure skating in the ru-wiki). So I searched and found a source - [5], where they are designated as the skaters of Latvia. This seems to be true, as the name of a man is "S" at the end, which is characteristic for Latvian names, but Latvia was not in the USSR in 1934. My English is not very good, and I'm afraid I can not explain myself editing, so I ask for your help. Thank you. --Luu (talk) 18:18, 4 July 2012 (UTC)

Source of finnish championships of figure skating
editHi I noticed that you have created {{NavigationFinnishChampionsFigureSkatingPairs}} and I wonder where did you get that data. :) There is typo in "1938–1936: Olga Saario / Edvard Linna" either it should be 1936-1938 or 1938-1939 I think. I don't have any sources for that so that's why I'm asking. Also there are gaps in results, so do you know if they just didn't compete in those years or is the data unknown? The article Ronny Winkler has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted after seven days unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk.
