Bot?

In your closing note, you mentioned that a bot will do the necessary work, but for your information, there is currently no bot which works for FL, VoxelBot is inactive for a long time. If a need for a new bot arise, feel free to bug me. Cheers! Jim Carter 04:17, 21 November 2015 (UTC)

Hey, the blurb looks good, just one thing I noticed, "Thirteen races, nine stopped because of rain..." think you're missing an explanantion of why the thirteen races were stopped. Other than that it looks good to go! NapHit (talk) 23:25, 23 November 2015 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Greetings; regretably, my FLC Timeline of drafting and ratification of the United States Constitution is languishing. One reviewer who gave it an "oppose" comment has not taken a second look after I made the needed fixes plus other enhancements. Sadly, only one other editor reviewed it. Would you please take a look at the list, as I do believe that it meets all FL criteria. Thank you. Drdpw (talk) 20:02, 27 November 2015 (UTC)

Hi there,

I was wondering why 60th Academy Awards is still listed under featured list candidates when you already closed the nomination and promoted it. Just politely asking.

WikiCup 2016 is just around the corner...

Hello everyone, and we would like to wish you all a happy holiday season. As you will probably already know, the 2016 WikiCup begins in the new year; there is still time to sign up. There are some changes we'd like to announce before the competition begins.

After two years of serving as WikiCup judge, User:Miyagawa has stepped down as judge. He deserves great thanks and recognition for his dedication and hard work, and for providing necessary transition for a new group of judges in last year's Cup. Joining Christine (User:Figureskatingfan) and Jason (User:Sturmvogel 66) is Andrew (User:Godot13), a very successful WikiCup competitor and expert in Featured Pictures; he won the two previous competitions. This is a strong judging team, and we anticipate lots of enjoyment and good work coming from our 2016 competitors.

We would also like to announce one change in how this year's WikiCup will be run. In the spirit of sportsmanship, Godot13 and Cwmhiraeth have chosen to limit their participation. See here for the announcement and a complete explanation of why. They and the judges feel that it will make for a more exciting, enjoyable, and productive competition.

The discussions/polls concerning the next competition's rules will be closed soon, and rules changes will be made clear on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Scoring and talk pages. The judges are committed to not repeating the confusion that occurred last year and to ensuring that the new rules are both fair and in the best interests of the competition, which is, first and foremost, about improving Wikipedia.

If you have any questions or concerns, the judges can be reached on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, on their talk pages, or by email. We hope you will all join us in trying to make the 2015 WikiCup the most productive and enjoyable yet. You are receiving this message because you are listed on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Happy New Year!

  Happy New Year!

WikiCup 2016: Game On!

We are about to enter the second week of the 2016 WikiCup. The most recent player to sign up brings the current total to 101 contestants. Signups close on 5 February. If you’re interested, you can join this year's WikiCup here.

We are aware that in some areas the scoring bot’s numbers are a little bit off (i.e., overly generous) and are working to have that corrected as soon as possible.--MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:04, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

Increasing the frequency of WP:TFL

Two days ago I opened a thread on VPI about possibly increasing the frequency of Today's featured list again, but up to now I have received no response, so I figured out it may be a good idea to discuss with you directly. I think it may be a good idea to increase the frequency of Today's featured list, from the current 2 days per week to daily.Looking at the Featured content section of recent Signpost issues, it seems that the rate of featured article and featured list promotions is roughly equivalent. Currently there are 3,272 featured lists waiting to be shown on the main page, compared to only 724 featured articles. At the current TFL rate, it would take more than 25 years to exhaust the current supply of featured lists to be shown on the main page, compared to less than 4 years for TFA. I think it would be suitable to increase the frequency of TFL to daily. Even if no more featured lists get promoted, the current supply of featured lists is enough for more than 7 years if TFL is to run daily. What do you think? sst 17:22, 9 January 2016 (UTC)

A triple TFL?

Hi Giants, I hope all is well. The Ethel Barrymore list should soon pass as an FL and it'll mean that we will have the career histories of the three siblings as three FLs. I'm thinking that it would be nice to have all three in one TFL. What would be the chance of that, do you think? I've seen two (and possibly three) articles appearing at TFA, so there is a precedent on the other front page elements, but I'm not sure if it's something we've done before. Cheers – SchroCat (talk) 15:19, 13 February 2016 (UTC)

Excellent, cheers. I'll try and put together a suitable blurb that catches all the links needed and work out a good date to run it. Cheers - SchroCat (talk) 19:45, 17 February 2016 (UTC)

Hello! It has been a long time since I was last on Wikipedia hahha, and now I am slowly coming back in! In fact, yesterday I created a new page: Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Special Guest Performer in a Drama Series. And I was wondering if you have any time just to check it out? To correct any grammar mistakes I may have made and maybe even include some proper english for me? If you can not do it, I understand, but if you could that would be awesome and greatly appreciated! WikiCup 2015 March newsletter

One of Adam Cuerden’s several quality restorations during round 1

That's it, the first round is done, sign-ups are closed and we're into round 2. Forty-seven competitors move into this round (a bit shy of the expected 64), and we are roughly broken into eight groups of six. The top two of each group will go through to round 3, and then the top scoring 16 "wildcards" across all groups.

Twenty-two Good Articles were submitted, including three by   Cyclonebiskit (submissions), and two each by   MPJ-DK (submissions),   Hurricanehink (submissions),   12george1 (submissions), and   Cas Liber (submissions). Twenty-one Featured Pictures were claimed, including 17 by   Adam Cuerden (submissions) (the Round 1 high scorer). Thirty-one contestants saw their DYKs appear on the main page, with a commanding lead (28) by   Cwmhiraeth (submissions). Twenty-nine participants conducted GA reviews with   J Milburn (submissions) completing nine.

If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Alice Bauer, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John Daly. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Doc Adams auction

In my initial edit I had put the auction news in the front section, end of second paragraph: "The original 1857 draft by Doc Adams of the Rules of Base-Ball, sold at an auction on April 24, 2016, for US$3,300,000.[2]" Perhaps it makes sense to put it back there since it is a newsworthy piece of trivia.--Gciriani (talk) 22:33, 3 May 2016 (UTC)
