Wikipedia:Featured list candidates/List of songs recorded by Ariana Grande/archive1. Concerns about comments by delegate.

Hello. I'm worried that Crisco isn't actually up to par for reviewing FLCs, judging by how contradictory and misinformed he has been on my nomination. I think it's really worrying that an FLC delegate doesn't read comments and makes contradictions as a result.  — ₳aron 00:02, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

Giants, given that Criso has !voted on the article he is involved in terms of closing this when the time comes. Given the comments on my talk page regarding the article, I consider myself to be involved too, so this one will be for you to balance the consensus when the time comes. TFL - The New 52 publications

Hi Giants2008. Thanks for the selection and exposure! I do have some suggestions to the text selection chosen (very minor), all to the final 4 sentences. My changes are in bold and removals with a strike.

DC released a total of 93 ongoing titles across multiple "wave" releases, to "constantly refresh the line". To expand The New 52 universe, DC has also released 21 one-shots, 17 miniseries and 3 maxiseries, with 1 miniseries planned. The New 52 titles are organized under seven different "families," grouping similar characters or themes within the books together. In May 2012, DC cancelled titles from the initial launch (which had been dubbed the "First Wave") and launched new titles, which would become "Second Wave" titles.

If you have any questions about my changes, please let me know. Also, due to recent events with the publishing line, the title of the article may be moving soon, to a more appropriate title, with a new article appearing at the current title. Please let me know if that will cause any issues. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 16:52, 27 March 2015 (UTC)

Sorry for the delay in responding, but things have been crazy for me in real life. I made all of the changes you suggested. If there is a move, please let me know because we'll have to ensure that the article we are linking to is the FL, not whatever new article is created. Giants2008 (Talk) 15:22, 2 April 2015 (UTC)
No worries. Thanks for making the changes. I'm hoping to actually makes these article changes today. If I do, and you don't mind, I'll just make the necessary link changes in the template. I'll also let you know, so you can double check I did it correctly. - Favre1fan93 (talk)
I'm completed the change. I think I adjusted everything in the template correctly. The opening sentence may need a reword now though. Let me know if there are any issues. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 19:04, 2 April 2015 (UTC)

All the best! "Carry me down, carry me down; carry me down into the wiki!" (talk) 01:59, 6 April 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I've found a series of 8 featured lists that share identical issues and are suitable for removal. All have no in-line citations, and few have a single reference at the bottom of the page. They are generally poorly written, and have very short leads. There have been tags to update for over 5 years. I nominated one 3 months ago, and have 2 others have since agreed with delisting. I've notified relevant groups and nobody is interested in bringing them up to standard unfortunately, but they do agree they need to be removed. Is it possible to nominate the whole lot? Thanks for your time. Mattximus (talk) 19:19, 6 April 2015 (UTC)

Thanks, I've implemented it just like you suggested. Is there a limit to the number of pages I can nominate for removal? I found several others that have absolutely no citations or leads that are 1 sentence. Mattximus (talk) 21:04, 15 April 2015 (UTC)

TFL for List of places of worship in Adur

Hi Giants – thanks for the notification about the TFL on 27 April. I will need to give the list some TLC prior to that, as it's one of my early ones and there could be some linkrot issues etc., but I'll pick that up in the next few days. There is one major change needed to the list and the blurb, in that one of the former places of worship has recently been demolished. Once I have made all necessary updates to the list, would you like me to suggest changes to the blurb, or should I just go ahead and edit it? (With a bit of luck I might get a chance to get the two missing photos as well!) Cheers, Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 17:38, 7 April 2015 (UTC)

I've updated all URLs, made a few tweaks etc., and these are my suggestions for the blurb...
  • I would simplify the first line of the blurb by combining the (current) first two sentences and rewording as follows: There are 26 current and seven former places of worship in the district of Adur, one of seven local government districts in the English county of West Sussex.
  • In the article, I have linked the word restored in the lead to Victorian restoration, which is a high-quality article which did not exist when I wrote the list. I suggest wikilinking it like this in the blurb: restored
  • In Seven of Adur's extant places of worship , and two former churches,, there is an extra space in front of the first comma.
Cheers, Hassocks5489 (Floreat Hova!) 11:31, 21 April 2015 (UTC)

WikiCup 2015 May newsletter

C/2014 Q2 (Lovejoy) is a long-period comet discovered on 17 August 2014 by Terry Lovejoy; and is one of several Featured Pictures worked up by   The Herald (submissions) during the second round.

The second round one has all wrapped up, and round three has now begun! Congratulations to the 34 contestants who have made it through, but well done and thank you to all contestants who took part in our second round. Leading the way overall was   Cas Liber (submissions) in Group B with a total of 777 points for a variety of contributions including Good Articles on Corona Borealis and Microscopium - both of which received the maximum bonus.

Special credit must be given to a number of high importance articles improved during the second round.

The points varied across groups, with the lowest score required to gain automatic qualification was 68 in Group A - meanwhile the second place score in Group H was 404, which would have been high enough to win all but one of the other Groups! As well as the top two of each group automatically going through to the third round, a minimum score of 55 was required for a wildcard competitor to go through. We had a three-way tie at 55 points and all three have qualified for the next round, in the spirit of fairness. The third round ends on June 28, with the top two in each group progressing automatically while the remaining 16 highest scorers across all four groups go through as wildcards. Good luck to all competitors for the third round! Figureskatingfan (talk · contribs · email), Miyagawa (talk · contribs · email) and Sturmvogel 66 (talk · contribs · email) 16:32, 4 May 2015 (UTC)

WP:Overlinking and awards tables

I have a question about tables and Wikipedia:Overlinking regarding my nomination of Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for featured list status. I read the rules that usually the first mention of a name is the only one linked. However it also says for convenience purposes such as in infoboxes and tables, overlinking my maybe suitable. I've promoted two Oscar acting lists which already have repeat links of multiple nominations such as Katharine Hepburn and Meryl Streep. I said that the overlinking was necessary because people would have trouble finding the first link for Katharine Hepburn in 1933 rather than simply linking her other nominations and wins especially if viewing on a small device. I also understand that usually overlinking is usually permitted in sortable tables, but when I tested sortable on a list, it created more problems such as this. This problem was similar to the one regarding Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series during its featured list candidacy (you'll have to open Rejectwater's comments to see the discussion). Can you help?

Best Supporting Actor FLC

Hi there,

I really do not want to be accused of canvassing, but can you please kindly explain to SNUGGUMS that we've agreed to have the duplicate links remain since the list is sortable? The issue was already resolved with Littlecarmen. It has been over ten days since the last comment so I was trying to get feedback.

TFL images

Hi! Please make sure to italicize the parentheses enclosing "pictured" or "_____ pictured". Thanks! —David Levy 07:41, 23 February 2015 (UTC)

I'm following up with a reminder of the above. Also, while we always append such a notation to ITN, DYK and OTD (which contain multiple items at any given time), we omit it from TFA and TFL when the image's subject is contextually obvious (because it relates directly to the one person or thing discussed in the blurb). Today, for example, the TFL blurb is about the career of Terry-Thomas, so there's no need to identify him as the image's subject. Thanks again! —David Levy 17:36, 16 March 2015 (UTC)

I just corrected another batch of non-italic parentheses. Including an instance in which I utilized the "undo" feature, I'm contacting you regarding this matter for the fourth time. I'd appreciate a confirmation that you're receiving my messages. Thanks again. —David Levy 06:22, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

Yes, David, I am getting your messages. I'm trying to do the best I can at TFL, but I do make mistakes from time to time despite my best efforts. Thank you for cleaning up after me, and I'll try to be more careful with the photo parentheses from now on. Giants2008 (Talk) 16:08, 7 June 2015 (UTC)
My apologies if my previous message came across as rude or insulting. We all make mistakes, of course, and I've made far worse ones than that. (Just yesterday, I put an obvious typo directly onto the main page. Ack!) So it certainly isn't my intention to belittle you. I sincerely wanted a confirmation that my messages were received, and I thank you for providing one. —David Levy 16:14, 7 June 2015 (UTC)

List lead MOS

Hi, I've just noticed User:Charlesaaronthompson changed the lead of List of Minnesota Vikings seasons to read "This article contains a list of seasons completed by the Minnesota Vikings". Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think list articles are supposed to start with words to the effect of "This is a list of [subject]". As this list is a Featured List, I feel you're best placed to know about this sort of thing. – PeeJay 14:19, 2 August 2015 (UTC)

Thanks, Giants. Would you also care to make a comment about that same user's addition of a coloured bar to the top of the table? I've since deleted that too, but User:Charlesaaronthompson claims it maintains consistency between other similar articles. – PeeJay 15:09, 2 August 2015 (UTC)

WikiCup 2015 September newsletter

The finals for the 2015 Wikicup has now begun! Congrats to the 8 contestants who have survived to the finals, and well done and thanks to everyone who took part in rounds 3 and 4.

In round 3, we had a three-way tie for qualification among the wildcard contestants, so we had 34 competitors. The leader was by far   Casliber (submissions) in Group B, who earned 1496 points. Although 913 of these points were bonus points, he submitted 15 articles in the DYK category. Second place overall was   Coemgenus (submissions) at 864 points, who although submitted just 2 FAs for 400 points, earned double that amount for those articles in bonus points. Everyone who moved forward to Round 4 earned at least 100 points.

The scores required to move onto the semifinals were impressive; the lowest scorer to move onto the finals was 407, making this year's Wikicup as competitive as it's always been. Our finalists, ordered by round 4 score, are:

  1.   Cas Liber (submissions), who is competing in his sixth consecutive Wikicup final, again finished the round in first place, with an impressive 1666 points in Pool B. Casliber writes about the natural sciences, including ornithology, botany and astronomy. A large bulk of his points this round were bonus points.
  2.   Godot13 (submissions) (FP bonus points), second place both in Pool B and overall, earned the bulk of his points with FPs, mostly depicting currency.
  3.   Cwmhiraeth (submissions), first in Pool A, came in third. His specialty is natural science articles; in Round 4, he mostly submitted articles about insects and botany. Five out of the six of the GAs he submitted were level-4 vital articles.
  4.   Harrias (submissions), second in Pool A, took fourth overall. He tends to focus on articles about cricket and military history, specifically the 1640s First English Civil War.
  5.   West Virginian (submissions), from Pool A, was our highest-scoring wildcard. West Virginia tends to focus on articles about the history of (what for it!) the U.S. state of West Virginia.
  6.   Rodw (submissions), from Pool A, likes to work on articles about British geography and places. Most of his points this round were earned from two impressive accomplishments: a GT about Scheduled monuments in Somerset and a FT about English Heritage properties in Somerset.
  7.   Rationalobserver (submissions), from Pool B, came in seventh overall. RO earned the majority of her points from GARs and PRs, many of which were earned in the final hours of the round.
  8.   Calvin999 (submissions), also from Pool B, who was competing with RO for the final two spots in the final hours, takes the race for most GARs and PRs—48.

The intense competition between RO and Calvin999 will continue into the finals. They're both eligible for the Newcomers Trophy, given for the first time in the Wikicup; whoever makes the most points will win it.

Good luck to the finalists; the judges are sure that the competition will be fierce!

FLC for List of Connecticut Huskies in the NFL Draft

Hello, I hope you have been doing well. I currently have an FLC open, List of Connecticut Huskies in the NFL Draft, that has been open for over a week but has received little attention. I was wondering if you would be able to take a look when you get a chance. If you don't remember who that is (and you really should since he's still on the team), you'll have to read the article to find out. Grondemar 03:38, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

TFL List of National Treasures of Japan (sculptures)

Hi! Thanks for choosing this list and letting me know about it. Just one comment, in the blurb it says "They depict Buddhist and Shintō deities (Ashura pictured)..." which could be confusing as Ashura is a Buddhist (not Shintō deity). Perhaps rewrite it as "They depict Buddhist (Ashura pictured) and Shintō deities..." or as "They depict Shintō and Buddhist deities (Ashura pictured)..." for avoiding misunderstanding. bamse (talk) 20:19, 24 October 2015 (UTC)

WikiCup 2015: The results

WikiCup 2015 is now in the books! Congrats to our finalists and winners, and to everyone who took part in this year's competition.

This year's results were an exact replica of last year's competition. For the second year in a row, the 2015 WikiCup champion is   Godot13 (submissions) (FP bonus points). All of his points were earned for an impressive 253 featured pictures and their associated bonus points (5060 and 1695, respectively). His entries constituted scans of currency from all over the world and scans of medallions awarded to participants of the U.S. Space program.   Cwmhiraeth (submissions) came in second place; she earned by far the most bonus points (4082), for 4 featured articles, 15 good articles, and 147 DYKs, mostly about in her field of expertise, natural science.   Cas Liber (submissions), a finalist every year since 2010, came in third, with 2379 points.

Our newcomer award, presented to the best-performing new competitor in the WikiCup, goes to   Rationalobserver (submissions). Everyone should be very proud of the work they accomplished. We will announce our other award winners soon.

A full list of our award winners are:

We warmly invite all of you to sign up for next year's competition. Discussions and polls concerning potential rules changes are also open, and all are welcome to participate. The WikiCup judges will be back in touch over the coming months, and we hope to see you all in the 2016 competition.
