3 months
Since when FLCs started taking 3 months to pass? I mean my nomination has been up for like 2.5 months and has yet to pass, despite several supports. May I know about the delay?Krish | Talk 05:30, 8 August 2017 (UTC)
Hi Giants2008, would you be able to review this list please? Currently at FLC. Regards, Khadar Khani (talk) 05:24, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
A tricky sports-related FAC question
Hi, hope you are well. An issue has cropped up at Jesé (FAC here) which I'm not quite sure about and I thought I'd pick your brain. I'm not even sure what I think! The short version is if a current player (in any sport) can really be FA given the stability criteria. I seem to remember this issue arising once upon a time (here, where we both chipped in 7 years ago!); I notice that article now has an update template on it, and is horribly out of date (Hmm, may be time to head over to FAR). But there are a couple of ice hockey articles for active players from a similar time (such as this or this which also look like they may have degraded a little; there's a bit of proseline and they don't look like the recent sections quite match those from the time of the FAC). I can remember a couple of current cricketers whose article went to FAR for similar reasons. These articles have degraded quite a lot, in a way that other FAs would not, because of stability. So... how do we avoid a situation where current players cannot be FAs? Or should all these current articles fail FA on 1e? And answers like we had in 2010, or in the FAC that made me post this ridiculously long message, that "we will keep it up to date, or someone else will", don't really work as we have seen. And it isn't as if people are patrolling FAs and weeding these out at FAR, either. Any suggestions? Or is it just me? Sarastro1 (talk) 23:44, 9 August 2017 (UTC)
WikiCup 2017 September newsletter
Round 4 of the WikiCup has ended and we move forward into the final round. In round 4, a total of 12 FAs, 3 FLs, 44 GAs, 3 FLs, 79 DYKs, 1 ITN and 42 GARs was achieved, with no FPs or FTs this time. Congratulations to Peacemaker67 on the Royal Yugoslav Navy Good Topic of 36 items, and the 12 featured articles achieved by Cas Liber (5), Vanamonde93 (3), Peacemaker67 (2), Adityavagarwal (1) and 12george1 (1). With a FA scoring 200 points, and bonus points available on top of this, FAs are likely to feature heavily in the final round. Meanwhile Yellow Evan, a typhoon specialist, was contributing 12 DYKs and 10 GAs, while Adityavagarwal and Freikorp topped the GAR list with 8 reviews each. As we enter the final round, we are down to eight contestants, and we would like to thank those of you who have been eliminated for the useful contributions you have made to the Cup and Wikipedia. The lowest score needed to reach round 5 was 305, and I think we can expect a highly competitive final round.
Remember that any content promoted after the end of round 4 but before the start of round 5 can be claimed in round 5. Remember too that you must claim your points within 10 days of "earning" them. If you are concerned that your nomination will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews Needed. It would be helpful if this list could be cleared of any items no longer relevant. If you want to help out with the WikiCup, please do your bit to reduce the review backlogs! Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck, and let the best man (or woman) win! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. Withdrawing an FLRC
Hello Giants2008. Would it be OK if I withdrew my FLRC nomination or would it better if someone else closed it? Most of the points raised have been fixed.--Nevé–selbert 18:26, 5 September 2017 (UTC)
FLC question
Hello Giants2008,
I have two nominations, one for List of New England Patriots starting quarterbacks and another for List of Metra stations that have been sitting as FLCs for 3+ weeks without any feedback of any sort (the former hasn't even been touched by another editor besides me yet). I notified their respective WikiProjects about the open FLC, but it did nothing. The only reason I come to you for this is because the last time List of Metra stations was a FLC, it got archived away because for over a month, it received no new feedback on the page even though I resolved the comments left by other editors. Is there a way for me to get feedback on the pages from other editors without annoying the crap out of people? I'd hate to see these FLCs get archived away due to a lack of feedback but I really don't know where to go with this one. Hope I can get some advice from you about this. Thanks, Sportsguy17 (T • C) 20:07, 5 September 2017 (UTC)

DYK for Gene Rambo
On 30 September 2017, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Gene Rambo, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Gene Rambo. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Gene Rambo), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.
John Ford filmography
Hi. I have an FLC in the works: John Ford filmography. One of your delegates, The Rambling Man made some comment that I have since addressed. However, there is a listing on his talk page that makes me suspect he has been temporarily blocked from resolving his comments. Must my list stay in "limbo" until the block is lifted or can someone take over for him? Jimknut (talk) 23:01, 3 October 2017 (UTC)
Dashes & listed building templates
Thanks for your comments and fixing the "dashes" on Grade II* listed buildings in Sedgemoor. I think you are right & the script doesn't work on entries inside the template. Is there any chance you could do the same thing on Grade II* listed buildings in Taunton Deane as this is the next one I'm planning on taking to FLC?— Rod talk 19:48, 5 October 2017 (UTC)
- Thanks. I'm hoping to nominate the Taunton Deane one as soon as Sedgemoor is done & now I'm working on Grade II* listed buildings in West Somerset.— Rod talk 18:32, 7 October 2017 (UTC)

Policy on renomination?
Hi, I recently had a potential featured list, Municipalities of Colima fail nomination procedure on grounds of lack of interest. I'm wondering what is the policy for renomination if I believe it is at the quality of featured list. Thanks! Mattximus (talk) 21:24, 23 October 2017 (UTC)
List of deaths from drug overdose and intoxication at TFL
Hi Giants2008. I'm quite honoured that you've chosen the List of deaths from drug overdose and intoxication to appear at TFL. I was planning on nominating it myself eventually, after I worked on it a little more. As the main contributor, while I firmly believe the article is very comprehensive, I am also aware of its limitations. I compiled the list by looking at every single person who has been added to 'Category:Drug-related deaths', and then searching for a reliable source that their death was caused by either overdose or acute intoxication. As you'll note by reading the list, many people are listed as having their type of drug or cause of death as 'unspecified' or 'unknown' respectively. As I was searching for sources on several hundred people, I limited my searches for each person to something like the first 3 pages or so on Google or Google books; I was therefore satisfied to find a reliable source that someone did just die of an unspecified overdose before moving onto the next person. While most of these 'unknown' factors will probably never be able to be changed no matter how hard people dig as more detailed sources likely do not exist, I'm quite certain if I put more effort in I can at least replace some of them. There's also a list on the article's talk page of everyone in that category who did meet the criteria accordingly to the prose in their article, though I could not find a source for. I'd like to go through that list one more time as well and see if I can find any sources with a more in-depth search.
I'm completely happy for the article to appear at TFL if you still are now that you know this information. I'm also going to start work on improving it myself as much as possible in the meantime, and given how I tend to get stuck into things it's likely I will have improved it as much as I can before it appears there anyway. I just thought you should know this. :) Freikorp (talk) 23:32, 23 October 2017 (UTC)
- Update: Well this really motivated me to start working on the article again. I've now gone through my list of potential candidates on the talk page and after an extensive search have found sources for seven of them. I think that's the best I can do. I'll start improving people already in the list tomorrow. Freikorp (talk) 13:16, 24 October 2017 (UTC)

Hi again Giants. Regarding the list of British prime ministers slated to appear on the Main Page next week, might it be possible to delay its appearance for the time being? There is currently an editing dispute I am having with another editor, who unilaterally removed an important part of the list, so the article isn't very stable at the mo. I've asked for a third opinion on the matter.--Nevé–selbert 19:11, 1 November 2017 (UTC)
- Hi, I just wanted to let you know that the dispute has now been resolved. The list is presumably stable now.--Nevé–selbert 16:06, 3 November 2017 (UTC)

Help with Alex Owumi FAC
I remember that you helped fix some prose issues with my featured article nomination of Cliff Clinkscales last year. I very recently nominated another basketball biography Alex Owumi as a FAC, but it contains similar issues. Could you possibly take a look at this article and leave comments on the nomination page? I don't understand how it is suddenly scheduled for TFL? Aren't these decided by a nomination process? Who nominated it?Krish | Talk 09:51, 4 November 2017 (UTC)
- Okay now it's clear. But I had my own plans for the list. I was hoping it to appear on S3 premiere or series finale (I think S3 will be its last; I am missing Chopra in Hindi films). 27 November is not related to the show in anyway. I don't know what to say.Krish | Talk 16:16, 4 November 2017 (UTC)

WikiCup 2018
So the 2017 WikiCup has come to an end. Congratulations to the winner, to the other finalists and to all those who took part. 177 contestants signed up, more than usual, but not all of them submitted entries in the first round. Were editors attracted by the cash prizes offered for the first time this year, or were these irrelevant? Do the rules and scoring need changing for the 2018 WikiCup? If you have a view on these or other matters, why not join in the WikiCup discussion about next year's contest? Alex Owumi
You had previously left comments on the FA nomination of the Alex Owumi article. I recently fixed all the issues you brought up, including citing specific page numbers for the book. The article has also been thoroughly copy edited by another user, so the prose should be a lot better. Let me know your thoughts on the nomination page as soon as possible. List of Major League Baseball players to hit for the cycle
Hi - I saw your update to List of Major League Baseball players to hit for the cycle; wanted to ask a quick question. There's good content within the long lead, but it's essentially a duplicate of the start of the Hitting for the cycle page. Seems odd to me that the List should have a multi-paragraph intro, when there's a dedicated page about the Cycle itself. And both pages point the reader to the other page. How are these two pages meant to relate to each other, content-wise? Thanks. Dmoore5556 (talk)

Did you know nominations/Baseball cheering culture in South Korea
Template:Did you know nominations/Baseball cheering culture in South Korea I went through most of the article to bring this in line with Wikipedia English. Also set Class to Start, as I believe that is a criteria, too. I did not check to see if there was a citation for the hook. David notMD (talk) 20:02, 19 December 2017 (UTC)
- I stepped in on this because the English was so bad. However, I know nothing about cheering at Korean baseball stadiums, so I suggest asking the nominator if the text still matches the facts about cheering culture. I do not intend to revisit the article or the DYK process. Good luck bringing it to closure. David notMD (talk) 03:35, 20 December 2017 (UTC)
- Copy editing completed and an alternative hook proposed. Waiting on your review. David notMD (talk) 13:15, 25 December 2017 (UTC)
