Speedy deletion nomination of Draft:Cuthbert Eden Heath
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Draft:Cuthbert Eden Heath requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://www.irmi.com/articles/expert-commentary/how-umbrella-policies-started-part-1-early-liability-coverage. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. - Hi Sphilbrick and Jimfbleak, this was not an article but merely a draft which I hadn't completed or posted live onto Wikipedia. I copied some material (not into my body text but into my notes below it to refer back to) which I was later going to examine for accuracy and if usable possibly briefly summarize in my own words. Would you mind briefly restoring the draft so I may copy my work either into my sandbox or off-Wikipedia so I may complete my draft? Or you could post it directly into my sandbox at User:Gillywell/sandbox2. There is so much information about this famous individual available, and much of it is inaccurate or contradictory. That's why I was copying some material verbatim until I have examined all of the evidence and made a determination as to what is accurate and what isn't. Thank you. - Gillywell, I emailed the content to you.
- I briefly looked at the contents and had some interest because I spent much of my career involved with some of the parties.
- That said, Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously and does not permit copyright violations and articles, not even in draft versions. That sort of work must be done off-line. S Philbrick(Talk) 00:01, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
- Oh, OK thanks very much, Sphilbrick! I will complete my research and my draft off-Wikipedia, before I post any of it anywhere on Wikipedia. I did not know that the contents of a draft were viewable or subject to the rules of copy-paste copyright. Noted for future reference. Gillywell (talk) 00:04, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks S Philbrick. Just to add that although drafts are given some leeway, they can also be deleted for other obvious violations such as spamming Jimfbleak - talk to me? 05:47, 21 June 2019 (UTC)

editOne of your recent additions has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. All such contributions will be deleted. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. - Hi John from Idegon, please read my comment in the thread immediately above. I have not posted any copyrighted material into any Wikipedia article. Gillywell (talk) 23:30, 20 June 2019 (UTC)
- You cannot post any copyrighted information anywhere on en.wikipedia.org. Sorry if that wasn't clear. Perhaps an administrator who can see your deleted content can explain to you why it's a copyright violation, but since it takes at least two people to speedy delete something, I'm going to trust they know a copyright violation when they see it, Gillywell. Whether it is at Teahouse, on your userpage in an article or in a draft, it is still a copyright violation. If others can see it, and there is very little on Wikipedia others can't see, you cannot add copyrighted information. Period. John from Idegon (talk) 01:03, 21 June 2019 (UTC)
- I did actually mean to delete that message, but it is still applicable. I thought it contained a link to a tutorial from Purdue University on how to paraphrase. It didn't and I got busy and forgot to delete it. Again, if it's ANYWHERE on this website, you cannot use copied material. I'm at a loss as to why you would think otherwise. The only difference between mainspace and draftspace is draftspace is not indexed to search engines. Anyone anywhere can still see it. Nothing on Wikipedia is private. Including this page here.
