Uncletom and Ghorpaapi
Tomorrow is Friday! Yay! Now, I have a couple of questions. (I know, I ask a lot of questions.)
- Uncletom is having trouble with vandalism. Either I made a mistake, he has made a mistake, or he's just been reverting test edits/random edits. What do I do?
- Regarding Ghorpaapi, will me and JP be guiding him/her through the course with you peering over our shoulders? When will adoption begin? Did you distribute "instructions" to JP, such as "not letting me take too much control by grading tests.) I'm assuming that he will grade the tests and I will do the technical tasks, like archiving lessons, updating grades chart, etc.
It's good to ask questions, right? ~~JHUbal27 00:32, 19 April 2013 (UTC)
- JHUbal, I will set that up over the weekend sometime and will try to check in on Uncletom tonight. Thanks for your conscientiousness. Go Phightins! 01:16, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

Happy to look, and I've made a start. No major issues, I don't think. I've done some copy-editing rather than list a load of fussy points. I'll let you take a look before continuing, in case I'm messing anything up. Feel free to revert anything you don't like. Sarastro1 (talk) 22:12, 19 April 2013 (UTC)

Your GAN for Arlen Specter is under review
I just thought I'd let you know that your GAN for Arlen Specter is under review by DCI2026. Maybe you've been too busy to take a look at it, but I thought it couldn't hurt to remind you in case you forgot. Perhaps part of the problem is that they started the review on March 17 but didn't post anything substantial until March 30. Anyway, please take a look at it when you get a chance. AmericanLemming (talk) 07:29, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

It's all the "visible on multiple pages and permanent on the awardees page' stuff the scares me. Thanks...cream rises. ```Buster Seven Talk 15:34, 21 April 2013 (UTC)

Re:WikiCup scoring
Sorry, I'd be inclined to say that that doesn't count as significant work; it's a long article, and worth a few bonus points, but you've only done some slight reordering and added some references. Important work, certainly, but I'd be inclined not to say significant. J Milburn (talk) 08:42, 22 April 2013 (UTC)

Baseball
I like baseball, but I've never been a mega fan so I don't follow the day-to-day information (In fact, I probably couldn't name more than three players on the roster Morneau, Mauer, and my personal favorite, Willingham to be exact). I'm not exactly a fair weather fan, because I always support the team, but I don't actively follow them unless they're doing really good, so I'm probably on the cusp of that. It also doesn't help that I'm in college. I'm fairly busy and I don't get to watch any games (although this time last year, I was following them much more closely). In any case, I'm digressing a ton. I was making fun of my roommate because he went to a Phillies game and they almost lost to the Royals (and were beat in the other two games of the series). I guess that's not so much of a thing to make fun of them for, since the Royals are leading the division. What's up with that? The Twins aren't doing horrendously right now either, I've got no classes to worry about (aside from tomorrow) so I'll need to pick it up and start following them a bit more closely. Taking a digression from the stuff unrelated to Wikipedia, there are empty tables at 2013 Minnesota Twins season#Detailed records and 2013 Kansas City Royals season#Detailed records that look pretty bad. Do you think there's somebody over at WikiProject Baseball who can make a single template for every team so all of them will be updated? Ryan Vesey 02:23, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
- I don't know that I can help you with your template issue, but let me point out that the Royals have not made the playoffs since 1985, so I can understand why you might be inclined to make fun of someone for losing to them. (You will, of course, make an exception if my beloved Tigers drop any games to KC in the upcoming series.) AutomaticStrikeout (T • C • Sign AAPT) 02:25, 23 April 2013 (UTC)
- Oh, the Tigers, my hatred for the tigers is exceeded only by my hatred for the Packers and slightly by my hatred for the Cowboys. In any case, it's good to see you back around ASO. I think I'm going to remove the dramaboards from my watchlist as well, not so much because I've been overwhelmed by the drama, but because I'm not creating content. I'll also ramp up the content creation come the end of finals. I'm really hoping to get Botik of Peter the Great to FA status. Ryan Vesey 02:33, 23 April 2013 (UTC)

Semi-WikiBreak
Hello all, the next few weeks of my life are going to be extraordinarily busy due to some real life commitments. I will try to pop in now and then, but I need some time to focus on things that are going on off of Wikipedia. Editor of the Week, the Signpost, and my adoptees will be me top priorities when I am online, and I will continue to work on Jim Thome in article space, but the rest of what I do is likely to see a significant decrease for a couple of weeks until some real life activities die down a bit. I would appreciate the help of some talk page stalkers (User:Ryan Vesey, User:AutomaticStrikeout, and User:Buster7, particularly you three, though any other help would also be appreciated) during this intermittent activeness, and I apologize in advance if it takes longer than normal for me to handle requests, respond to questions, etc. Thank you all for your understanding, and I will be back in my full doses as soon as I can. WikiCup 2013 April newsletter
We are a week into Round 3, but it is off to a flying start, with Sven Manguard (submissions) claiming for the high-importance Portal:Sports and Portal:Geography (which are the first portals ever awarded bonus points in the WikiCup) and Cwmhiraeth (submissions) claiming for a did you know of sea, the highest scoring individual did you know article ever submitted for the WikiCup. Round 2 saw very impressive scores at close; first place Casliber (submissions) and second place Sturmvogel_66 (submissions) both scored over 1000 points; a feat not seen in Round 2 since 2010. This, in part, has been made possible by the change in the bonus points rules, but is also testament to the quality of the competition this year. Pool C and Pool G were most competitive, with three quarters of participants making it to Round 3, while Pool D was the least, with only the top two scorers making it through. The lowest qualifying score was 123, significantly higher than last year's 65, 2011's 41 or even 2010's 100.
The next issue of The Signpost is due to include a brief update on the current WikiCup, comparing it to previous years' competitions. This may be of interest to current WikiCup followers, and may help bring some more new faces into the community. We would also like to note that this round includes an extra competitor to the 32 advertised, who has been added to a random pool. This extra inclusion seems to have been the fairest way to deal with a small mistake made before the beginning of this round, but should not affect the competition in a large way. If you have any questions or concerns about this, please feel free to contact one of the judges.
A rules clarification: content promoted between rounds can be claimed in the round after the break, but not the round before. The case in point is content promoted on 29/30 April, which may be claimed in this round. If you are concerned that your nomination—whether it is at good article candidates, a featured process, or anywhere else—will not receive the necessary reviews, please list it on Wikipedia:WikiCup/Reviews. Questions are welcome on Wikipedia talk:WikiCup, and the judges are reachable on their talk pages or by email. Good luck! If you wish to start or stop receiving this newsletter, please feel free to add or remove yourself from Wikipedia:WikiCup/Newsletter/Send. - True, but I have a hard time believing that a sibling or hacker would have gotten control of his phone, which means he would have been hacked in order for someone to make those edits, and I have trouble imagining that a random hacker would choose him, of every WP editor, to try to hack. Granted, I don't understand hackers at all, but whatever. Go Phightins! 22:02, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
OK, here's a question User:Gtwfan52, User:ZappaOMati, and User:Lukeno94: do we go to ANI about this? Nothing has happened since those two errant edits, but they are extremely suspicious. Thoughts? Go Phightins! 22:12, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
- I don't know, I'm just worried that JHUbal may just be having a bad day, which may be why he made those edits, and that ANI could take this matter a little too harshly. ZappaOMati 22:15, 12 May 2013 (UTC)
