Your contributed article, Beth Brooke-Marciniak
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
Hello, I noticed that you recently created a new page, Beth Brooke-Marciniak. First, thank you for your contribution; Wikipedia relies solely on the efforts of volunteers such as you. Unfortunately, the page you created covers a topic on which we already have a page – Beth Brooke. Because of the duplication, your article has been tagged for speedy deletion. Please note that this is not a comment on you personally and we hope you will continue helping to improve Wikipedia. If the topic of the article you created is one that interests you, then perhaps you would like to help out at Beth Brooke – you might like to discuss new information at the article's talk page.
If you think the article you created should remain separate, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, you can place a request here. Additionally if you would like to have someone review articles you create before they go live so they are not nominated for deletion shortly after you post them, allow me to suggest the article creation process and using our search feature to find related information we already have in the encyclopedia. Try not to be discouraged. Wikipedia looks forward to your future contributions. gobonobo + c 19:34, 29 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi, Gobonobo. In December 2011 you participated at the discussion which resulted with moving the Academi article to its current title. There is a ongoing RfC which is related to that move. Your input is appreciated. Beagel (talk) 20:13, 31 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi Gobonobo, why did you create the page Obama mania? I guess I'm a bit confused why we should have a page just pointing to wiktionary, especially when this doesn't seem to be a very significant term. I'd like to hear what you think. Zeus t | u | c 15:37, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
- @Zeus: Hi. It's actually a very significant term (a 2008 word of the year in fact). Sometimes when we don't have a Wikipedia article for a term, but there is a Wiktionary article, we create a soft redirect, as I did. You can see the editing guideline at WP:SOFTRDR. Hope that helps, gobonobo + c 15:41, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
- Okay, the wiktionary page didn't seem to be very significant to me, hence my confusion. Could probably use some work. Thanks. Zeus t | u | c 15:44, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
WP:FORK List of State Democratic Parties
Hi. Per WP:FORK, "Article spinouts: "Summary style" articles[edit] For more details on this topic, see Wikipedia:Summary style. Shortcut: WP:SPINOFF Sometimes, when an article gets long (see Wikipedia:Article size), a section of the article is made into its own article, and the handling of the subject in the main article is condensed to a brief summary. This is completely normal Wikipedia procedure. The new article is sometimes called a "spinout" or "spinoff" of the main article; Wikipedia:Summary style explains the technique."
The point here is that the Democratic Party article is more than large enough. The information is valuable but a directory needn't be in the main article. Capitalismojo (talk) 00:02, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Capitalismojo. I think we just disagree on the scope of WP:CFORK and maybe what constitutes consensus. Let's try to keep the discussions about what to do on the article on the article talk pages though, if you don't mind. gobonobo + c 15:48, 3 June 2014 (UTC)
- Sure. No problem. Capitalismojo (talk) 02:47, 4 June 2014 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Berkshire Conference on the History of Women
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Berkshire Conference on the History of Women requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content or organised event, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". Hi Gobonobo, though I'm fine with you having done it, as the only contributor to the article I would have appreciated at least a quick message on my talk page notifying me that you were planning to move Draft:Janine Connes over to article space before you did. Thanks, Sam Walton (talk) 18:22, 10 June 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Sam Walton. My next step was to drop you a note. The draft looked mostly ready to go so I figured I'd just be bold and move it to article space. Was there anything you were planning on adding before bringing it to article space? Were you planning on going for a DYK? gobonobo + c 18:26, 10 June 2014 (UTC)
- Ah ok, I happened to be logged in and noticed almost as soon as you moved! As it turns out I don't mind that you moved it, some encouragement to do so was probably needed. The reason I hadn't so far was that it has almost no information about her and was all about her work, but I couldn't find any so it's not a big deal. I do DYKs as and when I see the opportunity for a good one, and didn't have anything in mind for that particular article. Sam Walton (talk) 18:30, 10 June 2014 (UTC)
- Yeah, I've been searching for sources that have any biographical information on her and there isn't much out there. It looks like you got most of the useful references in there already. I now recognize that you've been doing work on the women scientists worklist. I've been combing through the recently created articles from there, which is how I came across your draft. gobonobo + c 18:38, 10 June 2014 (UTC)

Alfred Fessard and Denise Albe-Fessard
Hi Gobonobo. I'm dropping by your talk page to thank you for your edits to Denise Albe-Fessard, and to thank Anthonyhcole as well (he created the article). I'm not sure if you were aware, but the impetus for that article came from a list I created while looking through some volumes of neuroscience autobiographies at a Neuroscience Wikipedia Edit-a-thon. I've recently discovered that the autobiographical chapters are online, and I've left details here in case you might be interested in doing more work on such articles.
The other reason I'm leaving a note is that I noticed your gender gap redlist and I thought it worth pointing out that there are a number of sources out there about Denise Albe-Fessard's husband, Alfred Fessard. The French Wikipedia has five red links to him (at the time of writing) that an article would turn blue. One possible source is here. There is also a nice picture of the two of them together here. I have a passing interest in husband-wife scientist article pairings and it is interesting when the wife gets an article and the husband doesn't - a gender gap of a different kind? :-)
Finally, I noticed that a Madame Fessard is mentioned in the Oskar Vogt article, and was wondering if that is a correct link or not (not sure who did that link)? Carcharoth (talk) 20:43, 11 June 2014 (UTC)
- Hi Carcharoth. Thank you for dropping by. I hope that the Neuroscience Wikipedia Edit-a-thon at the Royal Society was a success. I'll see about adding the names of the women neuroscientists from The History of Neuroscience in Autobiography to the gender gap redlist. We can also add those names to the WikiProject Women scientists worklist and the list of potential articles for future Ada Lovelace Days.
- I agree that it is probably unusual to see the wife of a husband-wife scientist pair get an article first. As for Alfred Fessard, I think for the French Wikipedia's red links to turn blue, there would need to be an article in the French Wikipedia for him. That link to Mme Fessard in the Oskar Vogt article is just a piped link, but it looks like it was a red link for quite some time. gobonobo + c 21:25, 11 June 2014 (UTC)

Importing articles from Sourcewatch
Hi Gobonobo: I noticed that you've created a number of articles by importing them directly from Sourcewatch. I find this to be problematic, because Sourcewatch states that it does not require a neutral point of view [1]. Of course, Wikipedia does. A few of the pages I'm referring to are Arkansas Policy Foundation, Texas Conservative Coalition Research Institute, Solutions for New Jersey, and Donors Capital Fund. There are quite a few more. As you can see from these articles, right off the bat they refer to the article's subjects as "right-wing" and "claiming" to be XYZ. These articles are laden with weasel words. I think it's best if you refrain from importing future Sourcewatch articles, and go back to the ones you've already imported and do a thorough sweep to ensure adherence to WP:NPOV. The Wikipedia Library: New Account Coordinators Needed
Hi Books & Bytes recipients: The Wikipedia Library has been expanding rapidly and we need some help! We currently have 10 signups for free account access open and several more in the works... In order to help with those signups, distribute access codes, and manage accounts we'll need 2-3 more Account Coordinators.
It takes about an hour to get up and running and then only takes a couple hours per week, flexible depending upon your schedule and routine. WikiCup 2014 June newsletter
After an extremely close race, Round 3 is over. 244 points secured a place in Round 4, which is comparable to previous years- 321 was required in 2013, while 243 points were needed in 2012. Pool C's Godot13 (submissions) was the round's highest scorer, mostly due to a 32 featured pictures, including both scans and photographs. Also from Pool C, Casliber (submissions) finished second overall, claiming three featured articles, including the high-importance Grus (constellation). Third place was Pool B's , whose contributions included featured articles Russian battleship Poltava (1894) and Russian battleship Peresvet. Pool C saw the highest number of participants advance, with six out of eight making it to the next round.
The round saw this year's first featured portal, with Sven Manguard (submissions) taking Portal:Literature to featured status. The round also saw the first good topic points, thanks to 12george1 (submissions) and the 2013 Atlantic hurricane season. This means that all content types have been claimed this year. Other contributions of note this round include a featured topic on Maya Angelou's autobiographies from Figureskatingfan (submissions), a good article on the noted Czech footballer Tomáš Rosický from Cloudz679 (submissions) and a now-featured video game screenshot, freely released due to the efforts of Sven Manguard (submissions).
The judges would like to remind participants to update submission pages promptly. Disambiguation link notification for July 15
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Mary Elizabeth Hawker, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Nihilist. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

DYK for Dinah Nuthead
On 18 July 2014, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Dinah Nuthead, which you recently created or substantially expanded. The fact was ... that although possibly illiterate, Dinah Nuthead was one of the first licensed women printers in the Thirteen Colonies? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Dinah Nuthead. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, live views, daily totals), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page. |

Modesta Avila
Hi. You might be interested in Modesta Avila, but no worries if you're busy with other things. Stumbled across her on your Gender Gap red list page and found her to be quite an important and interesting activist. That she died at the age of 22 in San Quentin for stringing a clothesline across train tracks is horrible. Thanks for the redlink. --Rosiestep (talk) 15:18, 6 August 2014 (UTC)
