Image Tagging Image:Luitpbav.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Luitpbav.jpg. I notice the image page currently doesn't specify who created the image, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created the image yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the image on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the image yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the image also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture then you can use {{GFDL}} to release it under the GFDL. If you can claim fair use use {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or {{fairuse}}. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other images, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of image pages you have edited by going to "Your contributions" from your user page and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thanks so much. --Sherool (talk) 00:25, 9 December 2005 (UTC)Reply

This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Matisse517.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then there needs to be an argument why we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). I understand the effort you have gone to in order to contribute these images. Unfortunately Wikipedia cannot publish images which infringe copyrignt, and after looking through images you have uploaded (you can see this here), I find your use of copyright tags, particularly the GFDL, questionable. Many of the images of older works of art which you have uploaded would more appropriately be labelled with the {{PD-art}} license. In order for you to be able to release something under GFDL you have to be the owner of the license, and this is surely not the case for more modern works of art. Can you look through and look for more appropriate licenses, please? --RobertGtalk 09:07, 7 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

You are still uploading untagged images

edit

Please, when you upload an image, give an accurate indication of the source of the image, and tag it with a license that is within your gift and that is valid for use on Wikipedia. There is really no excuse for not listing a source or providing a valid license: if you cannot do both, then please do not upload the image. For example: Image:Hypo-Haus.jpg is a photo for which you have not listed a source. If you took the photo, please say so on the image page and thereby validate the GFDL license. If you did not take it, please contact the person who did take the photo and get their permission to release it, then provide evidence for this permission on the image page. Another example: Image:Dali Ma mere 1929.jpg is, I take it, a scan of a photograph of a painting by Dali. You cannot claim you created this image (Dali created it), so you cannot use GFDL-self. Since you do not own the copyright for the work of art either (and I do not believe is in the public domain) you cannot upload it here unless you claim fair use (with a detailed fair-use rationale) or you have permission from the copyright holder. Please take more care uploading your images, because you are currently making work for other contributors in tagging them for removal, and taking them out of the articles in which they are used. --RobertGtalk 09:11, 10 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Your image uploads

edit

I've been trying to save some of your uploads, but it would be great if I didn't have to ;-). If an image was painted by an artist who died 100+ years ago, you can tag it {{PD-art}}. There are also tags for artists who died 70 years ago and 50 years ago ({{PD-art-life-70}}{{PD-art-life-50}}). The source is also important-- preferably a link if you're getting them from a website. With those two bits of info, you'll stop getting the above messages, and you won't have to restore the images to the pages you used them in. -- Mwanner | Talk 23:14, 14 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

You must urgently add the source i.e. book or website of all your images other wise they may be deleted and all your hard work would be for nothing :( Arniep 20:42, 15 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Sigmund1439.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Category:Historism architecture in Munich

edit

What is this supposed to mean? It makes no sense in English - "historism" is not a word, and if it was it would be a noun, not an adjective. To be frank, your English is so poor that you should avoid creating categories. Others can correct, or just revert, your article edits, but deleting or renaming a category is a lot of work for other editors. Johnbod (talk) 00:29, 9 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

A short look at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Category:Historism_architecture might broaden Johnbod's horizon. Gogafax

There are a few references on Google, but with varied meanings, and mostly nothing to do with architecture. German terms cannot just be imported into English, as Commons not infrequently does, and the word does not appear in the COD or OED in any sense. Even if it were a term in English, an adjective is needed here - "Gothicism architecture" is equally nonsense. Johnbod (talk) 01:14, 9 February 2009 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:LouisII.jpg

edit

Thank you for uploading File:LouisII.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. English

edit

Dear Gogafax, Thank you for your contributions to various Bavaria-related topics. Your additions are most welcome! However, please note that your English is not quite perfect and may require proofing by a native speaker. I'm noticing a lot of German collocations, particularly with time phrases. Please don't hesitate to ask a native English speaker to proof-read something for you before posting it. Mangwanani (talk) 20:55, 4 May 2015 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your contributions. It seems that you may have added public domain content to one or more Wikipedia articles, such as Duchy of Bavaria. You are welcome to import appropriate public domain content to articles, but in order to meet the Wikipedia guideline on plagiarism, such content must be fully attributed. This requires not only acknowledging the source, but acknowledging that the source is copied. There are several methods to do this described at Wikipedia:Plagiarism#Public-domain sources, including the usage of an attribution template. Please make sure that any public domain content you have already imported is fully attributed. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 03:42, 9 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Wittelsbach Dynasty.JPG

edit

A tag has been placed on File:Wittelsbach Dynasty.JPG requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused duplicate or lower-quality copy of another file on Wikipedia having the same file format, and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.
