Reorganising the campaignboxes
I am thinking we should maybe reorganize these two campaignboxes Post-Aleppo and decline of ISIL (December 2016–September 2017) and ISIL collapse in Syria (September 2017–present). The first one should be titled Post-Aleppo and ISIL collapse in Syria (December 2016–November 2017) and the second should be titled Rebel decline (December 2017–present) (or something similar). The second should include: 3rd Northwestern Syria, Turkish operation in Idlib, Harasta & Beit Jinn. What do you think? EkoGraf (talk) 15:57, 8 January 2018 (UTC)
- Makes sense. It looks the war is not to be over any time soon, so phases should be reasonably long. Regarding "rebel decline" - i'm not sure about rebel definition (foreign Jihadist groups are rebel? SDF are rebel?), so maybe some other title.GreyShark (dibra) 10:08, 9 January 2018 (UTC)
- Any suggestion? Idlib escalation maybe? EkoGraf (talk) 19:28, 12 January 2018 (UTC)
- @EkoGraf: 2017-18 Idlib escalation or 2017-18 Idlib campaign would be much better title. Do we have an overview article on that? (similar to Aleppo campaign?)GreyShark (dibra) 11:32, 14 January 2018 (UTC)
- At the moment we have Northwestern Syria campaign (October 2017–present). I put the title of the box as escalation (similar to our earlier Aleppo title). EkoGraf (talk) 13:53, 14 January 2018 (UTC)
- @EkoGraf: Sounds good.GreyShark (dibra) 16:37, 14 January 2018 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for January 15
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Tanukhids, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Transjordan (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

I kindly ask you to revise your vote! following the different sources that I have brought on this naming issue. Pluto2012 (talk) 06:29, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
- I will, but it seems your actions on this vote have been disruptive.GreyShark (dibra) 12:58, 18 January 2018 (UTC)
- Maybe that my actions (bringing sources and reminding that the keep option was to be kept) disrupted a pov-pushing. Next step should be to launch an Arbcom and make ban everybody who voted! option 1 but I don't have time for that. Pluto2012 (talk) 06:11, 20 January 2018 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Hezbollah–Israel conflict
Hello Greyshark09,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Hezbollah–Israel conflict for deletion, because it appears to duplicate an existing Wikipedia article, Iran–Israel proxy conflict.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted, you can contest this deletion, but please don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions.
Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 08:36, 29 April 2018 (UTC)
- Not really overlapping - Iran-Israel conflict lasts since 2005 and includes besides Hezbollah other actors (Hamas, Sudan, etc).GreyShark (dibra) 09:21, 29 April 2018 (UTC)
- Almost all of the content was copied from Israeli–Lebanese conflict and Iran–Israel proxy conflict, again without attribution. You have already received three warnings not to do this any more. If you're going to copy Wikipedia content, you are required by the terms of our license to provide attribution. Also, you should not remove speedy deletion tags from articles you have created yourself. I am re-adding the speedy deletion tag so an admin can assess. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 13:20, 29 April 2018 (UTC)
- This thing of attribution - you are right, though one small detail: im the creator and heaviest contributor of Iran-Israel proxy conflict article [1]. Basically most of the text in this topic area was written or edited by me, so im mostly moving my own text or writing similar proze to other pages (not all, but mostly). In any case, this is not my intention to harm Wikipedia and it hurts to be suspected of misconduct and vandalism and copyright violations. Probably every experienced editor can be blamed and persecuted for similiar actions - especially when employing bold editorial behaviour. I've created hundreds of articles and even my ideological foes do admire my work. I retire now. Maybe i would be back some time, but not in this Assyrian year. Cheers. - Thank you. I think 1970 Syrian coup d'état should be better as title of article per sources. Also 1966 coup is also know as corrective revolution or movement. --Panam2014 (talk) 22:25, 24 May 2018 (UTC)
- Frankly I agree, the page had been named 1970 Syrian Corrective Revolution until 2013, then a rename was made with small majority of editors to current title. You are welcome to propose rename back or to 1970 Syrian coup d'état. I would personally prefer Syrian Corrective Revolution (1970), but let's hear other opinions.GreyShark (dibra) 06:33, 25 May 2018 (UTC)

Closure of RM on Alleged attempted assassination of Nicolás Maduro
Surely the other discussion should have been closed, because every response it got said “we should move it, but a different name than the one suggested”, and not close the one trying to do exactly that (propose a better name). Seems like logic was skipped for closing the discussion that opened second. Do you agree that the one you closed should be reopened, and, if needed, the other discussion closed. Kingsif (talk) 12:45, 6 August 2018 (UTC)
- Once the first closed, the second can be opened. It is confusing to have two at once.GreyShark (dibra) 12:48, 6 August 2018 (UTC)
Ping failed
Hi, thanks for the ping here, but it failed. Ping only works if you ping and add a fresh signature in a single edit; this can be a nuisance! See mw:Help:Echo#Technical details.
You might want to revert your two edits and re-post them as one, with a fresh sig; that should do it. – Fayenatic London 21:52, 10 August 2018 (UTC)

The article Syrian territories has been proposed for deletion. The proposed deletion notice added to the article should explain why.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Srnec (talk) 19:37, 11 August 2018 (UTC)

I'm sure by now that the Iranian military involvement in Syria has become plain. Iran may be fundamentally opposed to Ba'athist philosophy in general, but the Syrian regime is the only other terrorist state in the region, and arguably the only other major player that is a dictatorship. Iran supports them out of fear of being completely isolated - the mullahs fear a military attack on them more than anything else, their personal loss of power. Have a nice day. 104.169.41.8 (talk) 12:32, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
- This is true that there is a strange ideology discrepancy between secular Syrian Ba'athism emphasizing national-socialism and the Iranian theological Islamic Shi'ite Republic, but there are many examples of collaborations of ideological enemies in the past - Islamic Republic supported Democratic Kurdish Iraqi rebels (KDP and PUK) during the Iran-Iraq War and notably supports the secular Palestinian socialist PFLP and the Muslim Brotherhood-related Hamas movement. Remarkably, even at ancient times the Persians have often employed Hellenic Greek hoplites as mercenaries - sometimes even fighting against their fellow Greek city states. I don't think the Iranian leadership are afraid of losing power, rather their concern should be long-term economy prospect of the Islamic Republic, which is not promising.GreyShark (dibra) 13:12, 2 October 2018 (UTC)
As far as I can tell the Second Afar insurgency is the rebel part of the conflict while the government bit has ended. I think putting the Eritrean–Ethiopian border conflict as an ongoing event is a bit misleading. This is a grey area that needs sourcing in any case. - Knowledgekid87 (talk) 13:36, 5 October 2018 (UTC)

"Palestinian war crimes"
You need to have sources in an article supporting categories you add to it. You cant just say eh feels like a war crime to me and put that cat on a page. nableezy - 18:42, 14 December 2018 (UTC)
- You are correct, there seem to be a very structured article which defines war crimes. I will simply go over it and check whether all category:war crimes by country categories fit the definition. As you say - putting "war crime" categories by feeling is not the right thing to do.GreyShark (dibra) 11:43, 16 December 2018 (UTC)
