Hey HJ
I've been looking for references for production of the final episode of The Bill. I know that they decided the final storyline because of research proving that gang rape was the way that gangs punished their members who betrayed them. I also know how they shot the final scenes but I can't find any refs whatsoever online to back this up. I've searched newspapers, I've searched Google, I've searched archives and nothing whatsoever. I'm all out of ideas, have you got any??? --5 albert square (talk) 22:47, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
- Well we just need some information on how it was made really, like in The Body (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), but that's an FA, we don't need that much information. Looks like i was replying to you on your talk page as you were commenting here! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:08, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
- How about using the documentary that aired after the last episode? The {{Cite episode}} template exists for that kind of source. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 23:15, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
- I was thinking that. I doubt we'd be able to cite ITV Player as I think that changes on a daily basis. However it's on Youtube, I might ask XLinkBot and check that he won't warn me for using it! --5 albert square (talk) 23:44, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
- You shouldn't link to the YouTube video because it's almost certainly a copyvio, and linking to a copyvio is almost as bad as violating it yourself. Just use the cite episode template (you don't need a video). HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:48, 6 September 2010 (UTC)
- HJ's right, you don't need an actual link to a video. In fact, the only required field is the title. Though I'm sure it helps to the channel, the date it aired on, etc. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 00:00, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
- Oh HJ, will you be around tomorrow? I am this (___) close to finishing my userspace article and I'd like you to upload it to the mainspace for me. I can't wait till it's all over, I've been working on it for months. - JuneGloom07 Talk? 00:04, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
- I will in the evening. I'm always on at this time for the new day on the Main Page. If it's just a simple move though, you should be able to do it yourself. You only need a mop when it gets a bit more fiddly, like suppressing redirects or moving to an existing title. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:13, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
- OK, that's a production section added. Now I'm off to bed before I fall asleep at the PC listening to Martin Kemp narrating! --5 albert square (talk) 02:09, 8 September 2010 (UTC)

...I should come out of retirement and go semi-retired instead? I'm having so much trouble in pre-calculus, I've decided to switch out of it, and since that was a time-consuming class, I'll have a little more time on my hands. Do you think, given those circumstances, I should come out of retirement and go semi-retired instead? The Utahraptor's sock (talk) 00:31, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
Don't mark that I'm semi-retired or unprotect my user page just yet. This is still just a thought; it's not official yet
- I think you should! ;) You know that all help is appreciated and I'm sure you're disciplined enough to help out here without neglecting your studies. Btw, I hate anything mathematical, so I don't blame you for dropping pre-calculus, even if I had to consult a handy online encyclopaedia whose name escapes me to find out what the hell it was! Hey there, I believe the page I created for Hollywood Sex Wars has been deleted. Can I recover my HTML text at least? That way, when we reach the trades I can put it back up?
Thanks (Zepolekim (talk) 02:45, 7 September 2010 (UTC))
- It was deleted via our proposed deletion system, which means I can restore it for you if you want, but it will likely be taken to a more binding deletion discussion. Alternatively, I can email you the code for you to re-create it again when it meets our inclusion criteria. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 12:24, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Second opinion for Party in the U.S.A.
Hey! I need a second opinion for the Party in the U.S.A. article. I feel like the review unfairly treated the review. I answered back to all comments. We were progressing, slowly, but nevertheless progressing and he all of a sudden shut down the review because it exceeded seven days. I would fathom if it was me not answering for seven days but it was the reviewer who didn't answer quite often. Would you do the honors of running a second review? -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 19:23, 7 September 2010 (UTC)
- Well it seems you and the reviewer had a difference of opinion. It happens sometimes, all part of the wiki experience! ;) I'd be happy to take it on, but it may have to wait a few days. I've currently got an article at FLC and I'm reviewing another GA nomination and then there's always real life, but I'll get to it! :) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 19:40, 7 September 2010 (UTC)

Would you be willing to reconsider your close on this? You stated that you were most persuaded by BLP1E, but that argument should no longer be applicable to the article, since she is now receiving coverage for her role in the latest E. coli outbreak; I added two sources to the article about this and mentioned it in the AfD, and there were no delete !votes after that, so I don't think the point has been discussed, much less a consensus reached that BLP1E still applies. Thanks for your consideration, --Arxiloxos (talk) 04:57, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
- Okaaay, you have my attention. Can you provide some more sources—national US news organisations and coverage from outside the US might convince me to reconsider. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 09:15, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
- As I mentioned in the AfD, this was the subject of a New York Times article [1] and an Associated Press article[2] last weekend. Both of these stories have been picked up by a large number of other news organizations; some of them include photos of Hagen. Examples:[3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10] It appears to me that even if BLP1E applied before, it doesn't now. Thanks for your consideration,--Arxiloxos (talk) 14:35, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
- OK, I'll offer you a deal. I'll userfy the article, complete with history, to User:Arxiloxos/Elisabeth Hagen (or a location of your choice) and you can work on it there and add those sources and, when the article asserts that she is notable for more than one event/position (which could take you 10 minutes, 10 days or whatever), I'll move it back to the mainspace. Sound reasonable? HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 19:47, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you. I had already added two such sources (along with some others on other issues) before the closing--they should already be in there. So I think notability is already shown as to (1) her controversial appointment (the 1E identified by most of the delete !voters) and (2) her role in this current E.coli outbreak. Are you looking for more?--Arxiloxos (talk) 21:06, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
- Apologies for the delay. I've userfied it for you. If you could add the more reputable of the sources to the article and maybe expand it a bit to make it clear that she is notable for more than one event, that would be great. I'm still slightly concerned, in that she probably wouldn't have acquired notability for the second event had it not been for the first, but if you give it a week or two to let the dust settle from the AfD and expand it substantially on the second role to avoid potential G4 concerns, I don;t see any major problems. Move request
Hey, is there a way that you can move "The Miz (Wrestler)" to "Mike Mizanin"? No consensus by the wrestling project has been made to move the article, so. Also, could you disable the move button as well, to avoid this in the future. -- ThinkBlue (Hit BLUE) 21:43, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
- You should be able to move to yourself. Non-admins can normally move pages back to the title they were moved from if that's the only thing in the redirect's history (anything else would require deleting the redirect). I'm reluctant to do it myself because, although it's not technically an admin action, it might be perceived the wrong way. As for move protection, I can if it becomes a problem, but it's not normally done without a good reason. Sorry. I will add it to my watchlist, though. - LAX-LHR? That's nothing, hope the upgrade comes through, but don't sweat it too much. (Though the amounts of Champagne I consume at the Flagship before boarding might put a dent in my theory of it being nothing... alcohol makes flights feel shorter.) LAX-SYD? Now that's a flight! So, London-SFO, you're either taking BA, Virgin, or United... hopefully BA so you can drink yourself into a comfortable calm. Courcelles 19:27, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
- No, United. You know you spend too much time in an airport when you know which airlines fly where! I'll bear the booze advice in mind. Maybe I'll sample the single malt in the pub at LHR! Or the duty free... June, if you give me your number, I'll pass it onto Jimbo if I see him! ;) HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 19:59, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
- I know British serves an 18-year Glenlevet in their Galleries First lounge, but I don't know much of what is in Terminal 1; I tend to be more of a Oneworld traveller than Star Alliance. LHR is defined by a single word, "expensive", even the duty-free there is much too high, though it does have the advantage- at least in terminals 3, 5, and (before BA left it, 4- haven't seen it lately) of being accessible after passing UK passport control when you return, so you wouldn't have to drag whisky into US customs, and into your checked luggage for the return flight. Courcelles 20:10, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
- Well if it's that expensive, I'll just have to settle for a few pints of ale. I hate Heathrow. And airports in general. I don't mind flying (though I've never done a flight that long), but I hate airports! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:27, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
- OMG! You get to meet Jimbo!? I wish I were in your shoes; what I would do for an autograph! You're one lucky person HJ and we look forward to seeing the end product! Ғяіᴆaз'§Đøøм | Champagne? 06:53, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- In my experience, LHR and LAX are the worst two airports I've even encountered. I do tend to hate airports, but I have come across one or two that are quite good - Havana's domestic terminal (outdoors, but still sells mojitos and has video games) and Faaa (mostly for the name, but also is kind of open and airy, and the food is French). Singapore's Changi always impresses me, it always seems like a brand new airport, but I can remember when it was still a gleam in the developer's eye. TFOWR 12:00, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

- That's very cool - I'm even more envious! (Though my sig has returned to normal...) I've done LAX to London before, part of an NZ to UK run, and it's long enough to sleep during - if you're able to sleep and fly? I assume you'll be taking a camera? Will you get a chance for much sight-seeing? More importantly... will you meet Jimbo?! TFOWR 18:59, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
- Your sig one was red! ;) I disappear on the 20th or 21st, fly on the 23rd or 24th and I get back on the 30th. I'm doing a "Screen Sprint" thing for the WMF, who are paying for my flight (even if it is 11 hours, ouch!) and hotel. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 18:49, 9 September 2010 (UTC)

Penny?
How about a dollar? --intelati(Call) 06:06, 10 September 2010 (UTC)
- As a interesting point of order, the United States doesn't have any such thing as "pennies"; we have cents. A penny is a British coin that originally was one-twelfth of a Shilling, of which there were twenty to the Pound. (And at one point, the Brits had Farthings worth a quarter of a penny, and some of the colonies had quarter-farthings!) Yeah, I know, everyone in the US calls those brown round things with pictures of Abraham Lincoln on them pennies; still doesn't make it correct. Okay, it is interesting to me, maybe to no one else. And you can have your Morgan, as far as I'm concerned, [11] is the prettiest coin ever struck; Victoria's Una and the Lion (Actually, how is it that Una and the Lion is a redlink? Writing enough about that coin to make a DYK would be the height of triviality. Courcelles 06:28, 10 September 2010 (UTC)

- Puttering along... fixing articles as I am able and trying to convince others in discussions that Wikipedia accepts that it is a work in progress, encourages improvement over flat-out deletion whenever possible, does not demand immediate perfection, and that the project still wishes to grow and is not running out of time. The strange insistance now-a-days that everything be immediately perfect "RIGHT NOW" kinda runs against the spirit of the project and why it was created. I suppose some find it easier to critique the weaknesss in someone else's work, rather than to roll up their own sleeves and help find ways to improve that which may have the potential for improvement. Sigh. However, my own save count is now over 300,[12] and all I can hope is that continued good work might act as an example to others. And I thought I'd make a go at becoming one of the coordinators over at WikiProject Films. [13]

WCHA Mess!
The WCHA links are an absolute disaster, I don't see away around a cut and paste since the desired location already existed. WCHA (AM) is where the radio station info should be, it was previously and wrongly redirected to the college hockey conference Western Collegiate Hockey Association. WCHA should be redirected to the hockey conferenece or a disam page. If there's another way to make those edits without a cute and paste move, it'd like to know Bhockey10 (talk) 18:35, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
- There is a way to do it without a cut an pate moves. Ask and admin. If there's a consensus to move the page, I'll do it and it'll take me about 10 seconds. In the meantime, please revert your second cut and paste move and start a discussion on the talk page. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 18:42, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
Okay, it's moved back to the previous mess, EXCEPT I redirected WCHA (AM) back to WCHA (the radio station article) instead of the incorrect loaction- college hockey conference.
If You're an admin, I don't think it needs a discussion, as right now the current article is against Radio naming conventions and should be at the WCHA (AM) location. Bhockey10 (talk) 18:56, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
- Better idea. The redirect is gone, through a slight bending of CSD R3. That way, you can move a page to it properly without admin intervention and without cutting and pasting! :) If somebody objects and moves it back, though, you'll have to discuss it before moving it again. Best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 20:14, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

- The above user has moved (properly) WCHA to WCHA (AM), but left "WCHA" as a redirect to "WCHA (AM)". This is just silly and a waste of a move, especially with the hatlink that is still on the page. I am unsure what the user is trying to do, but if they want to create a disambig page, that I will understand, but at present, it is a redirect. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 21:12, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
- Well when a non-admin moves a page, there's no way to stop it leaving a redirect to the new title, sogive him time to do whatever he's going to do. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:16, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
- I already brought it up to Neutralhomer, but since he did here, I'll fill you in: Neutralhomer caught the move less than a min after I made the move and before fixing the redirect was fixing direct links from it's sister station WHAG (AM) (note: the proper naming convention already exists there), the parent broadcasting company's article, and a local radio market template. I think everything is cleared up now that all the redirects and links are fixed.Bhockey10 (talk) 21:42, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
Edit War
Thanks for your help earlier, while starting out helpful and as a discussion, User:Neutralhomer is on the verge of starting an edit war. Despite explaining reasons and what started civily he has esculated and reverted edits for which I brought logical explainations. In this case WCHA which he would like as a disamb page. I brought up the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. As I put it to him when accused of biased toward the hockey article- "I'm not biased towards the WCHA Hockey. If the radio station had 500+ edits and pages of articles in a google search I'd be supporting that it was the Primary topic." I don't want to bother you but he warned he was bringing it up to an admin and accused me of creating an edit war first.Bhockey10 (talk) 22:37, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
- The user wants to create a straight redirect (apparently their intention all along) to this hockey league. The hatlink was enough. They moved it correctly, now we have a disambig page. OK, fine. Not good enough for them. So they want a straight redirect. This is clear OWNership of the article. We are both at 3RR, I have issued a warning to the user in case they aren't aware. This is just plain silly. Hatlink was enough, disambig page is enough, no need for a straight redirect. Soap even agreed with that (bottom of the post) but decided to stay out of it. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 23:00, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
- You have exceeded the 3RR rule claiming in good faith. Which I could do as well, but have stopped editing. As I have said, you don't seem to change/see that there is a clear issue of Primary Topic and a Disambig page is 2nd best option. As I have said many times, bring the idea for a disambig page vs straight redirect up on the talk page for WP:Consensus. Bhockey10 (talk) 23:05, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

- Hey, I thought the hatnote to the hockey league on the radio page was enough, but I was wrong. I think the disambig is enough, I am still wrong. This user wants nothing but a straight (and unnecessary) redirect to some probably non-notable hockey league. The disambig is enough and really no reason has been presented on why the disambig isn't a good idea other than some Google results (which change every minute almost now). I compromised on the disambig page, I don't know how I can compromise anymore. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 23:22, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
- No, it's not worth an edit war, it hasn't helped that Neutralhomer has been less than civil at certain points of the discussion. With only two pages of similar names we have hatnotes on top of each now. My argument is that the sports page is the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC shown by google search, edit histories, and Wikipedia article traffic statistics.Bhockey10 (talk) I esp don't think the disambig page is worth it with only two articles of similar names and also due to one being primary over the other. And as I've said to Neutral when accused it's not bias- hockey vs. radio issue (my username has hockey in the title but I am heavily involved in radio as well as a hockey player)! if the radio station was the primary topic i would argue it should be the straight redirect.Bhockey10 (talk) 23:53, 11 September 2010 (UTC)

We have disambig pages with only two entries, one being a non-radio station and one being a radio station. We have some that are both radio stations. A disambig is for two or more entries, doesn't matter if one has 1,000,000 views a day and the other 1 a month, they would get equal billing on the disambig page. Hell, I even put the hockey league first on the disambig page as an even greater compromise. You just aren't willing to compromise. You want the straight redirect or nothing. That is OWNing and not being in good faith. - Neutralhomer • Talk • 00:13, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

The name "Whisky drinker"
Is it a pun off of TeaDrinker (talk · contribs), or do you just like whisky? Or both? —Soap— 22:18, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
- The latter! An old single malt, preferably. Actually, I think this may be the first I've heard of TeaDrinker. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 23:23, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
- LOL, the first I've heard of TeaDrinker too. Unless HJ has become tee-total lol --5 albert square (talk) 23:31, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
The article Pichilemu Police has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- run of the mill, see WP:ROTM
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}

Can you reduce protection from full to semi? This looks like it got batched (it did actually), and since I have seen Whisky Drinker update it, I hope you know why it should not be fully protected. Allmightyduck What did I do wrong? 00:32, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
- Done I had no idea it was transcluded on so many pages! HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:36, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
- Thank you. It certainly is a popular template. Allmightyduck What did I do wrong? 00:38, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
Holiday albums at WP:ALBUMS
Could you please participate in the discussion pertaining to how holiday albums should be formatted? The discussion is held at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Albums#Holiday albums. -- ipodnano05 * leave@message 00:52, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
Hi HJ, would you mind rev-deleting the revisions of this article since it's been subject to resubmission with the same plagiarised text. Thanks. Ғяіᴆaз'§Đøøм | Champagne? 08:47, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
- As long as it stays blanked, it should be OK. If it ever is moved into the mainspace, then the old fashioned delete and partial undelete would be the best way to deal with it, but it looks like the whole thing would go under G11 before I got chance. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 11:40, 11 September 2010 (UTC)
- Oh ok, thanks HJ! Ғяіᴆaз'§Đøøм | Champagne? 05:45, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
As one of the main developers of Template:Infobox animanga/Video, I have to protest the full protection of this template. The template has been stable for some time, with only minor edits tweaking the template here or there. Full protection, cuts off any further development by myself or other members of WP:ANIME, which is completely undesirable. There has been no history of vandalism with the template to require anything more than semi-protection. —Farix (t | c) 00:20, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
- The same goes for Template:Infobox animanga/Print, whose permissions where changed a few months ago so I would be able to further develop or tweak it. —Farix (t | c) 00:25, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not protecting these individually. I'm using Twinkle to batch-protect everything on a database report of unprotected templates transcluded on more than 500 pages. The templates I just protected were transcluded on over 1300 pages, but I'll reduce those to semi since you asked. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 00:29, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
- Perhaps you should be more careful in your use of tools. Looking through your edit history, you are unnecessarily protecting many templates that don't need full protection, such as WikiProject templates which, except for a handful of exceptions, should never be fully protected. Also, 500 transclusions is an extremely low amount for full protection. —Farix (t | c) 00:39, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

Will you cut it out all ready? Your are fully protecting templates that don't need to be fully protected. —Farix (t | c) 02:50, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
- If there are any pages that you need to edit, simply give me a list of links and I'll change the protection level. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 02:56, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
- Which templates, how about every WikiProject tag and everything under Template:Infobox animanga. The thing is, you shouldn't be fully protecting templates simply because they are transcluded a couple 100 times. Semi-protection may be desirable, but full protection should be done on a case by case bases. If you don't stop this mass full protections, then I may have to take this to WP:ANI for a resolution. —Farix (t | c) 02:59, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
- Please read WP:HRT. The effects of vandalism on a template transcluded on thousands of pages are for less desirable than a wait for an {{editprotected}} request and it's simply not feasible to manually evaluate the necessary protection level of 5,000 pages. anyway, they've all been done by myself and at least two other admins. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 03:04, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
- Except for a few exceptions, there is absolutely no need to fully protect most templates, even if then are heavily used. WikiProject banners especially should not be protected except for perhaps three banners (biography, military, and film). Since you are unwilling to downgrade all of your protections to semi-protection and are blindly fully protecting every template you come across, I guess I have no choice then to take this up at WP:ANI. —Farix (t | c) 03:10, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
- Please read the edit summaries for my log entries. Read it nice and slow and let me know if the part about the (linked) database report or "changes can be requested at WP:RFUP" is ambiguous to you and I'll explain it using nice, small words. In the meantime, I've unprotected all subpages of the infobox you requested, but apparently you still won't leave me alone. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 03:14, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
