Hello. Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. I noticed your recent edit to Pune does not have an edit summary. You can use the edit summary field to explain your reasoning for an edit, or to provide a description of what the edit changes. Summaries save time for other editors and reduce the chances your edit will be misunderstood. For some edits a summary may be quite brief.

The edit summary field looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

Please provide an edit summary for every edit you make. With a Wikipedia account you can give yourself a reminder to add an edit summary by setting Preferences → Editing →   Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary, and then click the "Save" button.   Hello Hexatron93! Your additions to Anti-Bihari sentiment have been removed in whole or in part, as they appear to have added copyrighted content without evidence that the source material is in the public domain or has been released by its owner or legal agent under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. (To request such a release, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission.) While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues.

  • You can only copy/translate a small amount of a source, and you must mark what you take as a direct quotation with double quotation marks (") and cite the source using an inline citation. You can read about this at Wikipedia:Non-free content in the sections on "text". See also Help:Referencing for beginners, for how to cite sources here.
  • Aside from limited quotation, you must put all information in your own words and structure, in proper paraphrase. Following the source's words too closely can create copyright problems, so it is not permitted here; see Wikipedia:Close paraphrasing. Even when using your own words, you are still, however, asked to cite your sources to verify the information and to demonstrate that the content is not original research.
  • We have strict guidelines on the usage of copyrighted images. Fair use images must meet all ten of the non-free content criteria in order to be used in articles, or they will be deleted. To be used on Wikipedia, all other images must be made available under a free and open copyright license that allows commercial and derivative reuse.
  • If you own the copyright to the source you want to copy or are a legally designated agent, you may be able to license that text so that we can publish it here. Understand, though, that unlike many other sites, where a person can license their content for use there and retain non-free ownership, that is not possible at Wikipedia. Rather, the release of content must be irrevocable, to the world, into either the public domain (PD) or under a suitably-free and compatible copyright license. Please see Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials.
  • Also note that Wikipedia articles may not be copied or translated without attribution. If you want to copy or translate from another Wikipedia project or article, you must follow the copyright attribution steps described at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. See also Help:Translation#License requirements.

It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, please ask them here on this page, or leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 09:46, 17 April 2023 (UTC)Reply

Recent edit reversion

edit

In this edit here, I reverted some information that appears to be a violation of our copyright policy.

I provided a brief summary of the problem in the edit summary, which should be visible just below my name. You can also click on the "view history" tab in the article to see the recent history of the article. This should be an edit with my name, and a parenthetical comment explaining why your edit was reverted. If that information is not sufficient to explain the situation, please ask.

I do occasionally make mistakes. We get hundreds of reports of potential copyright violations every week, and sometimes there are false positives, for a variety of reasons. (Perhaps the material was moved from another Wikipedia article, or the material was properly licensed but the license information was not obvious, or the material is in the public domain but I didn't realize it was public domain, and there can be other situations generating a report to our Copy Patrol tool that turn out not to be actual copyright violations.) If you think my edit was mistaken, please politely let me know and I will investigate. S Philbrick(Talk) 13:10, 2 June 2023 (UTC)Reply

  • If you think that corpwatch.org is not valid, please could you explain at Talk:Tata Group why you think that. That will most likely lead to other editors assessing the article on corpwatch.org. There is not much point in your deleting it now, if everybody else re-adds it in the future.
  • Your edit to Tata Group claimed that the sources did not support the claim of political corruption. Please could you explain that at Talk:Tata Group. Did you look at all the sources cited for that claim?
I was going to revert you, but I noticed that one of the other citations in that section was completely irrelevant to the claim that it is cited for. So I thought that the best thing to do was to encourage you to start a talk page discussion.-- Toddy1 (talk) 12:17, 11 August 2023 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Jio into Jio Platforms. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content, disclosing the copying and linking to the copied page, e.g., copied content from [[page name]]; see that page's history for attribution. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. Please provide attribution for this duplication if it has not already been supplied by another editor, and if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, you should provide attribution for that also. You have made another set of ill-advised edits to the article on the Economy of India.[2] You deleted a sentence that had a citation, and replaced it with the following paragraph:
As per Consultant Review, The Indian management consulting industry is expected to reach more than Rs. 30,000 crores (US $5 billion), growing at a CAGR of 30%. A report from two different analyst firms states that the Indian management consulting industry is continuing to grow rapidly. The market is currently valued between $1.4 and $2.1 billion. There are 10,00,000 employees working in the management consulting industry in India whereas the count for the same in the world is 17 million. There are 47,000 management consulting companies in India.[1]
Regarding the statement about Rs. 30,000 crores, the source says that "In India Management consulting is estimated to be a Rs. 30,000 crore industry", i.e. that it is now. So what you wrote was a misunderstanding.
Regarding the other statements, you need to provide citations for all of them, and the citations need to be from reliable sources that explicitly support them.-- Toddy1 (talk) 19:03, 17 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Copying within Wikipedia

edit

You did not identify the source of the material in your edit. It appears to be Cloud storage. Copying within Wikipedia is acceptable but it must be attributed.

This type of edit does get picked up by Copy Patrol and a good edit summary helps to make sure we don't accidentally revert it. However, for future use, would you note the best practices wording as outlined at Wikipedia:Copying_within_Wikipedia? In particular, linking to the source article and adding the phrase "see that page's history for attribution" helps ensure that proper attribution is preserved.

While best practices are that attribution should be added to the edit summary at the time the edit is made, the linked article on best practices describes the appropriate steps to add attribution after the fact. I hope you will do so.

I've noticed that this guideline is not very well known, even among editors with tens of thousands of edits, so it isn't surprising that I point this out to some veteran editors, but there are some t's that need to be crossed.S Philbrick(Talk) 12:58, 17 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

What Hexatron93 has done is to copy-and-paste text from sources into Wikipedia and made minimal alterations. -- Toddy1 (talk) 15:49, 31 October 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi, Apologies for single wrong citation, i have made mistake Hexatron93 (talk) 13:00, 31 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
This is troubling. The issue isn't a single wrong citation It is widespread copyright violations. You must cease or you will will be blocked. If you don't understand please ask. S Philbrick(Talk) 16:14, 31 October 2023 (UTC)Reply
what is the procedure for ceasing the account Hexatron93 (talk) 05:45, 1 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
If you want to stop editing Wikipedia, just stop editing.
But please do not start a new account under a different name. If you do then both this account and the new account will be blocked for sockpuppetry and the edits under the new account reverted or struckthrough.
So if you want to edit Wikipedia in the future, just take a break from Wikipedia, and when you are ready, resume editing using the Hexatron93 account.-- Toddy1 (talk) 08:01, 1 November 2023 (UTC)Reply
