Speedy deletion nomination of Lawrence Andrews
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Lawrence Andrews, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Organizations for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. Speedy deletion nomination of Charles H. Tweed
editIf this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Charles H. Tweed, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:
- It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
- It appears to be about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), individual animal, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. (See section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". - This is my response to the email message you sent me.
- The basic problem is that if you claim someone as having made notable innovations, you need references from third-party independent reliable sources that they were of this importance. You can't prove it by mere assertion. Dentistry is a medical science. The general rule for scientists is WP:PROF, the special rule for what sources are needed in medicine is WP:REDRS. A published CV can give the basic facts of a career but only that; Researchers are essentially judged by the importance of publications as shown by their citation statistics; major national level prizes or national level office in major professional organizations are often the best way to show the notability of clinicians. If you can add this material the article will not be deleted. And I'd strongly suggest that you make articles only on people where you can clearly show this. I temporarily removed the deletion tag on the article, and placed a notice that should give you a day or two to fix the problems. DGG ( talk ) 02:21, 2 September 2015 (UTC)
- Hi Thank you this helps me a lot. I read over the guidelines for professors and saw the mistakes I was making. Thank you for teaching me. I have a question for you. I found an article solely about Charles Tweed on American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics. I searched the author and he had no conflict of interest with the topic. I've read the paper and it very well summarizes the impact Tweed had over the years on the field of Orthodontics. According to you, is this an ok reference to use in order to source my information? I also have William Proffit textbook that I'm currently reading, which I can also use to reference the material. The name of the article is Charles H. Tweed, 1895-1970. Please comment. Thank you for your help.

Proposed deletion of List of dental hygiene schools in United States
editThe article List of dental hygiene schools in United States has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- WP:LISTCRUFT.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Gbawden (talk) 08:19, 1 October 2015 (UTC)

Ways to improve Spencer Atkinson
editHi, I'm Liechtenstein96. Hgcool23, thanks for creating Spencer Atkinson!
I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. Nice and informative article, thx! Well written. I think more inline citations would be useful to ease verifiability and we could set more links to other wiki sites. Kindest regards Liechtenstein96 (talk) 10:18, 30 December 2015 (UTC)

The article Peter Buschang has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within seven days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. Nat Gertler (talk) 01:28, 8 April 2016 (UTC)
- Dude you gotta give me 10 minutes to finish writing the article. I just hit submit and was going to add everything. You can't just go on a deleting spree without giving someone a chance.
American Board of Orthodontics
editHello! you posted the following on my user page rather than my talk page, without signing your post, and another editor removed it:
You have removed several of my edits on the page. First of all American Association of Orthodontics and American Board of Orthodontics are two different associations. I am a specialist in this profession and only writing information that is credible. I do not write false claims. Please let me edit this article with the information I had provided earlier. You're not a professional in this field and cannot do justice with the article. Thanks
First of all thank you for your edits. You are of course most free to edit that page. Please have a look at WP:OWNERSHIP as every Wikipedia editor is welcome to edit that page. If one had to be an expert in a subeject in order to edit on Wikipedia, we would not have much of an encyclopedia. I'm aware that the two organizations are different; the edits I made were done to reduce the promotional tone of the article, and in one case to remove the false claim in the intro: that the organization was the first professional organization of orthodontists, founded in 1938 or 1939... Here's a link that says there was a specialist organization for orthodontists fonded in 1901 in the USA. Here's another. As you can see, one does not need to be an orthodontist to remove a false claim that the first American professional organization for orthodontists was fonded in 1938. Happy editing!HappyValleyEditor (talk) 19:08, 18 April 2016 (UTC)

WikiProject X Newsletter • Issue 13
editThis month: A general update.
The current status of the project is as follows:
- Progress of the project has been generally delayed since September due to development issues (more bitrot than expected, some of the code just being genuinely confusing, etc) and personal injury (I suffered a concussion in October and was out of commission for almost two months as a result).
- I currently expect to be putting out a proper call for CollaborationKit pilots in January/February, with estimated deployment in February/March if things don't go horribly wrong (they will, though, don't worry). As a part of that, I will properly update the page and send out announcement and reach out to all projects already signed up as pilots for WikiProject X in general, at which point those (still) interested can volunteer specifically to test the CollaborationKit extension.
- Wikipedia:WikiProject X/Pilots was originally created for the first WikiProject X prototype, and given this is where the project has since gone, it's only logical to continue to use it. While I haven't yet updated the page to properly reflect this:
- If you want to add your project to this page now, feel free. Just bear in mind that more information what to actually expect will be added later/included in the announcement, because by then I will have a much better idea myself.
- Until then, you can find me in my corner working on making the CollaborationKit code do what we want and not just what we told it, per the workboard.
Until next time,
WikiProject X Newsletter • Issue 14
editUpdates: I've been focusing largely on the development side of things, so we are a lot closer now to being ready to actually start discussing deploying it and testing it out here.
There's just a few things left that need to be resolved:
- A bunch of language support issues in particular, plus some other release blockers, such as the fact that currently there's no good way to find any hubs people do create.
- We also probably need some proper documentation and examples up to even reference if we want a meaningful discussion. We have the extension documentation and some test projects, but we probably need a bit more. Also I need to be able to even find the test projects! How can I possibly write reports about this stuff if I can't find any of it?!
Some other stuff that's happened in the meantime:
- Midpoint report is out for this round of the project, if you want to read in too much detail about all the problems I've been running into.
- WikiProject Molecular Biology have successfully set up using the old module system that CollaborationKit is intended to replace (eventually), and it even seems to work, so go them. Based on the issues they ran into, it looks like the members signup thing on that system has some of the same problems as we've been unable to resolve in CK, though, which is... interesting. (Need to change the content model to the right thing for the formwizard config to take. Ugh, content models.)
Until next time,

This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people that does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Zai (💬 • 📝 • ⚡️) 16:20, 20 April 2021 (UTC)
