David Bennett (announcer)

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article David Bennett (announcer), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. You have changed the reference format in contradiction of the guideline, removed WP:Persondata, removed reference handling code and added unreferenced material - [1]. Why ? Please reply here. -- John (Daytona2 · Talk · Contribs) 10:33, 12 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello. I was not necessarily aware that I had added what could be considered as unsourced or original research. Some of the research carried out for the article was made using archived pages (to which I've included a reference). Apologies for any inconvenience. User:Hughpugh (talk) 23:23, 14 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for the reply - moved here to keep the conversation in one place. It was unsourced because you ommitted a reference; hence it contravened Wikipedia:Verifiability. The reference via archive.org that you have since added does not work [2] which is strange. Please answer my other questions. Thanks -- John (Daytona2 · Talk · Contribs) 09:24, 15 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Flagging Leusa Mererid for further review

edit

Hello, Hughpugh … I recently encountered the article about Leusa Mererid and in my opinion, it either lacks sufficient Attribution that it satisfies the Notability criteria for Biographies, or it may violate the Conflict of interest guideline, or perhaps it violates a copyright.

I am considering tagging Leusa Mererid (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) for deletion according to the Deletion policy … I do not have time to examine the article in depth at the moment, and it may improve over time, in which case this warning was premature.

I have created this initial entry on your Talk page because you are either the original author of the article, or else a recent contributor to it; I will leave more detailed information regarding my specific concerns about the article on its Discussion page … please respond either there or on this Talk page, instead of on my Talk page, in order to avoid fragmenting the conversation.

Be sure to read Ownership of articles, and remember that Some Other Editors (including at least one administrator) may not share your opinion about the notability of the article's subject.

I do not mean to imply that your contribution is unappreciated … perhaps you should read Your first article … and remember, there was a time when I knew less about how Wikipedia works than you know right now.

To better understand why I have used this template, please read Flag templates for deletion warnings ... I realize that some of the expressed possible concerns may not be appropriate in this case. — triwbe (talk) 13:06, 15 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

Advice

edit

Hi Hughpugh, I've just come across the great work you're doing on our coverage of British TV and I'm glad you're here. Looking through your contributions I can see why you might have run into some problems with your material being deleted. Please remember as you add material that it must be verifiable and you must cite your sources for every bit of information you contribute. I know it can be a pain to get the footnotes right, but Wikipedia has plenty of pages explaining how to do this well and you need to remember that if you don't cite your sources everything you add will end up being deleted sooner or later. Since you must have got your information from somewhere it shouldn't be too much trouble to make a note of where, and this way your contributions will stay in the encyclopaedia for ever, you won't get "unreferenced" tags slapped on your articles and the editors who've contacted you above will leave you to get on with it. It's also very helpful to other editors, saves time in the long run and is less annoying to the community if you provide an edit summary when doing anything. Thanks for all your work! 85.189.221.65 (talk) 11:05, 23 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Notability of David Torrance

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on David Torrance, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because David Torrance seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting David Torrance, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. To see the user who deleted the page, click here CSDWarnBot (talk) 23:10, 5 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Your hard work is about to be deleted from Wikipedia

edit

The article you created, Jess Dunsdon is about to be deleted from Wikipedia.

There is an ongoing debate about whether your article should be deleted here: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jess Dunsdon. The faster your respond, the better chance the article you created can be saved. This is because deletion debates only stay open for a few days, and the first comments are usually the most important.

There are several tools and other editors who can help you keep the page from being deleted forever:

1. You can list the page up for deletion on Article Rescue Squadron. If you need help listing your page, add a comment on the Article Rescue Squadron talk page.

2. You can request a mentor to help explain to you all of the complex rules that editors use to get a page deleted, here: Wikipedia:Adopt-a-User. But don't wait for a mentor to respond on the deletion page.
3. When try to delete a page, veteran editors love to use a lot of rule acronyms. Don't let these acronyms intimidate you.
Here is a list of your own acronyms you can use yourself: WP:Deletion debate acronyms which may support the page you created being kept.
Acronyms in deletion debates are sometimes incorrectly used, or ignore rules or exceptions.

If your page is deleted, you still have many options available. travb (talk) 01:12, 20 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello Hughpugh. Can I suggest you give WP:NOTDIR a read? It sets out Wikipedia policy, and specifically says "Wikipedia articles are not... (4) Directories, directory entries, electronic program guide, or a resource for conducting business. For example, an article on a radio station should not list upcoming events, current promotions, current schedules, et cetera, although mention of major events, promotions or historically significant programme lists and schedules may be acceptable". I would think that a list of what news bulletins are broadcast and when and in which language falls foul of NOTDIR. BencherliteTalk 23:34, 29 June 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi,
Sorry for not including an edit summary - I made the edit on the grounds that Ten 17 (now Heart) was being merged with two other Heart stations (in Chelmsford & Southend and Colchester). Rather than there being a separate 'Heart Harlow' (apart from some advertising), there is now just the one station for Essex ('Heart Essex'), hence the edit. Apologies for any confusion. I represent her and cannot see why you have taken it upon yourself to edit her page CONSTANTLY.. you have false information on there and you are DELETING FACTS!!! Please tell me what your problem is with our original page. As I represent her it stands to reason that I actually know what she is doing and has done. It is unfair of you to do this with ZERO explanation EVER and then suddenly threaten me with taking away MY editing rights on a client I represent. Not Vandalism

edit

Thank you for trying to keep Wikipedia free of vandalism. However, one or more edits you labeled as vandalism, such as the edit at Heart (radio network), are not considered vandalism under Wikipedia policy. Wikipedia has a stricter definition of the word "vandalism" than common usage, and mislabeling edits as vandalism can discourage editors. Please read Wikipedia:NOTVAND for more information on what is and is not considered vandalism. Please be extra careful if you choose to accuse a specific editor (e.g. me) of vandalism in your edit summary, as these are a permanent record. Nobody likes being accused of something they haven't done! --DrFrench (talkcontribs) 14:15, 16 December 2013 (UTC)Reply

Real Radio Scotland/Heart merger

edit

Hang on a minute, if Real Radio is to be rebrand as Heart Scotland in May, then should that be Real Radio Scotland to merged into Heart Scotland rather than the other way round? On the 6th of May you'll want to keep Heart Scotland, with Real to become as a redirect. You may want have look at it again and see what you did. I haven't changed it, I just you to see what I mean? Because the Real Radio Wales into Heart South Wales you have appeared to have done correctly. You do want the article name on 6 of May to appear as Heart Scotland don't you, and not Real?
