Your edit to Driss Chraibi has been removed in whole or in part, as it appears to have added copyrighted material to Wikipedia without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. If you are the copyright holder, please read Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials for more information on uploading your material to Wikipedia. For legal reasons, Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted material, including text or images from print publications or from other websites, without an appropriate and verifiable license. You may use external websites or publications as a source of information, but not as a source of content, such as sentences or images—you must write using your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously, and persistent violators of our copyright policy will be blocked from editing. See Wikipedia:Copying text from other sources for more information. @Drmies:, Hello, I am sorry, I did not know I should not do that and I appreciate if you could tell me how I can get a knowledge of all these rules. Thanks. Idris1965 (talk) 19:33, 30 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

  • Idris1965, you can't copy things off the internet and paste them in here. The links are in the message above but it probably starts with Wikipedia:Copyrights. And I was a bit sad to discover this, since our coverage of writers like Chraibi is already pretty minimal, and needs a lot of work--and now there is even less, because I had to scrub it from the article. Also, text here needs to be neutral; that line about the Celine-like intransigence and fury was a giveaway that we were dealing here with unencyclopedic material. For comparison you can look at Assia Djebar, which has a bunch of decent references and parts of the article are pretty good. We need to aim for the quality of Edward Said. [Naguib Mahfouz]] isn't bad, but needs more references. Drmies (talk) 21:05, 30 May 2021 (UTC)Reply

Sanaa El Aji moved to draftspace

edit

An article you recently created, Sanaa El Aji, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. DMySon (talk) 11:21, 8 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

@DMySon: Hello, I worked on the article and added some text and sources. I, originally translated this article from Wikipedia Italian. I wonder if you check it and possibly take it out of the Draft. Thank you and Best Regards. Idris1965 (talk) 16:15, 17 August 2021 (UTC)Reply
I can see you have already submitted the draft for review. Now other editors will come and review it. Please have patience! DMySon (talk) 04:18, 18 August 2021 (UTC)Reply

Hello, I'm Hypnôs. I noticed that you added or changed content in an article, New Kingdom of Egypt, but you didn't provide a reliable source. It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Hypnôs (talk) 12:34, 15 June 2024 (UTC)Reply

Mirrors

edit

Thanks for contributing to the article Ernesto Schiaparelli. However, one of Wikipedia's core policies is that material must be verifiable and attributed to reliable sources. You have recently used citations which copied, or mirrored, material from Wikipedia. This leads to a circular reference and is not acceptable. Most mirrors are clearly labeled as such, but some are in violation of our license and do not provide the correct attribution. Please help by adding alternate sources to the article you edited! If you need any help or clarification, you can look at Help:Contents/Editing Wikipedia or ask at Wikipedia:New contributors' help page, or just ask me. Thank you. William Nassar moved to draftspace

edit

Thanks for your contributions to William Nassar. Unfortunately, I do not think it is ready for publishing at this time because it needs more sources to establish notability. I have converted your article to a draft which you can improve, undisturbed for a while.

Please see more information at Help:Unreviewed new page. When the article is ready for publication, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page OR move the page back. Youknow? (talk) 15:57, 28 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Your addition to Bandali Jawzi has been removed or altered, as it appears to closely paraphrase a copyrighted source. Limited close paraphrasing or quotation is appropriate within reason, so long as the material is clearly attributed in the text. However, longer paraphrases, especially if they are not attributed to their source, may constitute copyright violation or plagiarism, and are not acceptable on Wikipedia. Such content cannot be hosted here for legal reasons; please do not post it on any page, even if you plan to fix it later. You may use external websites or printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words.

If you own the copyright to the text, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use it — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the copyright but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Thank you. GreenLipstickLesbian (talk) 08:38, 5 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

There's a free online module thing that the Wikimedia foundation made for students. It covers close paraphrasing in pretty good detail. You can find it here. I'd strongly recommend you take it. GreenLipstickLesbian (talk) 08:40, 5 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
