Speedy deletion nomination of James Forrest (footballer born 1991)

edit

A tag has been placed on James Forrest (footballer born 1991) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

Speedy deletion nomination of Catalonia in the Eurovision Song Contest

edit

A tag has been placed on Catalonia in the Eurovision Song Contest requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a very short article providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content. You may wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.   You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24-hour period. Additionally, users who perform several reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. When in dispute with another editor you should first try to discuss controversial changes to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. Should that prove unsuccessful, you are encouraged to seek dispute resolution, and in some cases it may be appropriate to request page protection. If the edit warring continues, you may be blocked from editing without further notice. Stop adding this; you've already been asked to discuss on the Talk page, and if you add it again without doing so, you will be blocked. Having regard to your previous history, it is unlikely that this block would be temporary. Rodhullandemu 20:37, 27 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of Ana Galvão

edit

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

A tag has been placed on Ana Galvão requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article, which appears to be about a real person, individual animal(s), an organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, does not indicate how or why the subject of the article is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} at the top of the article, immediately below the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate), and providing your reasons for contesting on the article's talk page, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. You may freely add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

You may want to read the guidelines for specific types of articles: biographies, websites, bands, or companies. — Arthur Rubin (talk) 10:10, 1 November 2010 (UTC)Reply

Troubling edit to my talk page

edit

I'm having difficulty understanding the meaning of this edit. Its most obvious meaning is a demand (in quite unpleasant terms) that I take action contrary to my beliefs, because you require it of me. Yet, I'm unaware of any duty of loyalty or obedience I've got to you.
I'm perplexed by the phraseology, as well. "[D]o as I fucking say[sic]"
I'm left wondering "why?" And I'm flummoxed by use of the word "fuck" as an adverb modifying the word "say". I'm aware that fucking generally does involve insertion, but not of flag icons and not into lists. Can you please elaborate, but in somewhat less emphatic terms, and without resort to the use of the word fuck as an adverb whose meaning, I suppose, has more to do with vehemence than reproduction? Thanks. David in DC (talk) 14:22, 23 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

The article Switzerland in the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Premature article that presently gives almost no more information than Eurovision Song Contest 2011. A confirmation of participation on its own with one source does not confer notability, and creating these articles just a few weeks after the previous content has finished has little precedent and is not usually appropriate. I have not found any other sources for Switzerland 2012.

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. CT Cooper · talk 14:17, 31 May 2011 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of John Barnes (broadcaster)

The article John Barnes (broadcaster) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

There are already two John Barnes on Wikipedia. One is a former footballer that does football commentary on BBC. Another is a BBC radio broadcaster in Northern England that also does sports. This article has been previously deleted - at least twice - so you know it is not notable. Why do you continue to recreate it? That behaviour could be considered disruptive. GiantSnowman 23:13, 10 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Barnes is a well established member of the BBC Sport Scotland team.

Then prove it. Also please sign your talk page posts with four tildes ~. GiantSnowman 23:16, 10 December 2011 (UTC)Reply
I have added a reference, but you really have to realise that these sorts of attempted deletion will continue until you are able to show that he meets the general notability guideline. This is actually quite easy to do - simply find an article, book, magazine etc that has 'significant coverage of him - ie not just a mention, not just a list, not just a story or interview by him on someone else, but actually about him - in an independent reliable source - so not by the BBC, not a blog or forum or other "user generated content", but most published newspapers, magazines or books, doesn't even have to be online. Given his common name, searching in google is difficult, but if you know of something in a Scottish newspaper or similar, then that is all you need. Good luck, and please reference all articles, especially any on living people. Cheers, The-Pope (talk) 15:11, 19 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi. When you recently edited Johnny Haddow, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page King's Park (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Please do not remove maintenance templates from pages on Wikipedia, as you did to Jo Whiley, without resolving the problem that the template refers to, or giving a valid reason for the removal in the edit summary. Your removal of this template does not appear constructive, and has been reverted. Thank you. GiantSnowman 17:22, 4 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Velimir Habrun

The article Velimir Habrun has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

does not appear to be a notable person

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist.
