Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. The following links will help you begin editing on Wikipedia:

Please bear these points in mind while editing Wikipedia

The Wikipedia tutorial is a good place to start learning about Wikipedia. If you have any questions, see the help pages, add a question to the village pump or ask me on my talk page. By the way, you can sign your name on Talk and discussion pages using four tildes, like this: ~~~~ (the software will replace them with your signature and the date). Again, welcome! Google books

edit

Since you are linking Google books, I highly recommend you use https://reftag.appspot.com/ - you just plug in the Google books HTML and it creates a Wikipedia-formatted cite.

For example, https://books.google.co.in/books?id=P0RuAAAAMAAJ&dq=shakya+caste&focus=searchwithinvolume&q=shakya

becomes

{{cite book|ref=harv|author=Diwas Dhakal|title=Nepalese Culture, Society, and Tourism|url=http://books.google.com/books?id=P0RuAAAAMAAJ|year=2000|publisher=M. Dhakal|isbn=978-99933-57-00-1}}

which looks like this once Wikipedia reads the code:

  • Diwas Dhakal (2000). Nepalese Culture, Society, and Tourism. M. Dhakal. ISBN 978-99933-57-00-1. {{cite book}}: Invalid |ref=harv (help)

That webpage has some features you can play around with as well. If you check off the little box at the bottom of the page that says "ref=harv", you then put that above information into the Bibliography at the end of the page and use the form it generates that looks like this: {{harv|Diwas Dhakal|2000|p=}} Now just plug in the page number after the p=. It saves you a lot of time. If you change the harv bit to sfn instead, like {{sfn|Diwas Dhakal|2000|p=11}} you don't have to use the complicated tags like <ref>{{harv|Diwas Dhakal|2000|p=11}}</ref> Instead, what you do is just stick this at the end of a sentence:

Math is hard.{{sfn|Diwas Dhakal|2000|p=11}}

And it shows up like this: a cite! No further formatting needed!

Math is hard.[1]

Okay, good luck. Ogress smash! 01:40, 15 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. You appear to be engaged in an edit war with one or more editors according to your reverts at Shakya. Although repeatedly reverting or undoing another editor's contributions may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Wikipedia this is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, and often creates animosity between editors. Instead of edit warring, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose editing privileges. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Wikipedia is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Ogress smash! 07:34, 15 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

As you have requested, I started a discussion about your revert on the Shakya talk page. Please engage in the discussion. I can provide you with a pdf of Beckwith's book that contains his claim about the Shakya, which I can provide to you. As you know from other discussions on Wikipedia with other editors, Beckwith is hardly alone in making the claim. I believe that Wikipedia should acknowledge the claim. Your recent edits

edit

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia. When you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion (but never when editing articles), please be sure to sign your posts. There are two ways to do this. Either:

  1. Add four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment; or
  2. With the cursor positioned at the end of your comment, click on the signature button (  or  ) located above the edit window.

This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is necessary to allow other editors to easily see who wrote what and when.

Thank you. --SineBot (talk) 10:12, 15 August 2015 (UTC)Reply

Not vandalism

edit

Your edit summaries on Shakya (accusing a good-faith editor of vandalism and other things) are unacceptable, as is this edit with further accusations of vandalism. Please see our policy Wikipedia:Vandalism and stop calling people out for vandalism unless they actually are vandals. It's offensive, and a personal attack. Sockpuppet warning

edit

Wikipedia has a policy against editing the same article under various user names or as a signed-in editor and as an IP editor. This is called using a sockpuppet and can result in serious consequences, including bans. I am looking at the Shakya page and would counsel you to keep clear of any such behavior ( in this case, using an IP address to implement edits that have been reverted when done as a logged-in user..   Hello. This message is being sent to inform you that there is currently a discussion involving you at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring regarding a possible violation of Wikipedia's policy on edit warring. Shakya is covered by discretionary sanctions under WP:ARBIPA

edit

This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.

You have shown interest in India, Pakistan, and Afghanistan. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.

For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Beware of continuing the edit war reported at WP:AN3. Your edit summaries are getting close to personal attacks. The steps of WP:DR are open to you. Thank you, EdJohnston (talk) 17:11, 11 April 2020 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Shakya (disambiguation)

edit

The article Shakya (disambiguation) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Disambiguation is not required (WP:ONEOTHER). "Shakya" is ambiguous only with uses of "Sakya".

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Regarding your recent edits

edit

Quotes you are adding on Kushwaha explicitly says that these caste groups Kushwaha, Kachhi (caste) claim that their social status degraded and they were Kshatriya initially. That is included in Kushwaha article in the section, Identification as Kushwaha Kshatriya'. It doesn't say that Kachhwaha Rajputs and Koeri Kachhi caste are same. The attempt to link both by including partial quote is a disruptive edit. As these caste were never part of Kachhwaha Rajputs. Admantine123 (talk) 08:52, 17 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

In other words what you are saying in your edit history, that is actually promoted by caste historians of the Koeri, Kachhi caste . William pinch also say the same thing. That doesn't say that these caste are same as Rajputs.-`Admantine123 (talk) 08:59, 17 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

The jati history concludes with a rueful account of social degradation, disorganization, and dispersal throughout north India; Kushvaha kshatriyas then became known by the more familiar local designations of Kachhvaha, Kachhi, Murao, and Koiri." Also another quote " Kachhvahas of western Uttar Pradesh"

Read it properly, Pinch says that the caste historians of this caste say that their social status was degraded and they were Kshatriya initially. Pinch is not saying that they were Rajputs and now degraded to various designations as mentioned above.-Admantine123 (talk) 09:01, 17 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
