AFC reviewer rights
If I remember correctly, you were granted AfC reviewer rights on probation in early December - this means they will expire some time in February. Any plans on renewing it? Pahunkat (talk) 13:30, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- Pahunkat, yes, although I have no idea how to renew it. JJP...MASTER![talk to] JJP... master? 13:31, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- I think you need to request them again on the same talk page. However, I may be wrong. Pahunkat (talk) 13:36, 1 February 2021 (UTC)
- Pahunkat, honestly, at this point I don't even know how long my AfC probation was supposed to be, according to Primefac, who granted me the right, it will be "3-6 months". although the project page says 2 months. JJP...MASTER![talk to] JJP... master? 13:39, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

- Pahunkat, as for reply-link, it's a script created by Enterprisey that gives you... well... a link that allows you to reply to discussions, see User:Enterprisey/reply-link.js to install it. It doesn't work that well on Uncyclopedia. Seriously. I tried it. JJP...MASTER![talk to] JJP... master? 13:55, 1 February 2021 (UTC)

Speedy non-admin closures at RfD
Why have you speedily closed discussions at Wikipedia:Redirects for discussion/Log/2021 February 2? While all the participants other than the nominator agreed (albeit one weakly) there was not an overwhelming number of them and no obvious reason for the discussions to be closed early. Thryduulf (talk) 16:51, 5 February 2021 (UTC)
- Thryduulf, on second thought, I do agree that, especially with the one with the R from move discussion that I closed as speedy keep, I did indeed close those discussions too early, and will try to refrain from doing so in the future. I'll be honest, I don't even remember why I decided to do the RfD closes to begin with. JJP...MASTER![talk to] JJP... master? 16:59, 5 February 2021 (UTC)

New York nursing home scandal renaming
Hi, I see you renamed Andrew Cuomo's response to nursing homes during the COVID-19 pandemic to 2021 New York nursing home scandal. Thank you for doing so. However, if you look at the discussion, the consensus was to rename it to New York COVID-19 nursing home scandal instead of the originally suggested 2021 New York nursing home scandal. Could you switch it to the one agreed to the discussion? Kyjama (talk) 23:46, 24 February 2021 (UTC)

How to directly upload an article?
Hello, I have previously written articles for Wikipedia, and been granted permission to publish a new article without going through Afc review. I do not how to publish an article without it being reviewed beforehand - could you help me with that? If not, could you please review & publish this article that I have written, which is now pending for review: Draft: Medial Epicondyle Fracture of the Humerus.
Many thanks, Apaul291003 (talk) — Preceding undated comment added 22:18, 6 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Apaul291003: The article looks pretty good to me; approved. If you want to make an article without having it approved, you can just create it directly in the article namespace and wait for a new page patroller to approve it. JJP...MASTER![talk to] JJP... master? 22:47, 6 March 2021 (UTC)
- @JJPMaster: How do I create it directly in the namespace? What does that mean? Thanks Apaul291003 (talk) 23:24, 6 March 2021 (UTC)
- Apaul291003, I mean creating an article directly, such as going to Insert page name here and adding the article there instead of going to Draft:Insert page name here and submitting it. JJP...MASTER![talk to] JJP... master? 23:25, 6 March 2021 (UTC)

Hi JJP!
Hey, I'm Hipponias from Uncyc and I've decided to join Wikipedia! (btw thanks for porting RedWarn and Huggle to Uncyc!)
Just asking, as a newbie what policy/writing pages should I read first? I know how to format and the way wikitext works so I guess learning how to cite would be a good idea.
Also, is there a link-suggest ability similar to Uncyc? I tried preferences but there were 500 other choices and I could not find it (assuming it exists). Hipponias (talk) 11:47, 18 March 2021 (UTC)
- @Hipponias: Welcome to Wikipedia! A few policies you may want to first read are our core content policies, five pillars, and ignore all rules, followed by a few other policies such as our biographies of living people policy and civility. If you want to know how to cite, specifically read WP:V and WP:RS to understand the basics of what a reliable source is, and read WP:CITE and Help:References to understand how to cite them. And as for link suggest, it is powered by the LinkSuggest MediaWiki extension, which Wikipedia does not have installed. JJP...MASTER![talk to] JJP... master? 11:56, 18 March 2021 (UTC)

Cleaning up Special:WantedTemplates
Hi, due to quirks in the way that Wikipedia parses javascript pages, curly braces are parsed as templates, unless they are inside of <nowiki>...</nowiki>
, <pre>...</pre>
, <syntaxhighlight>...</syntaxhighlight>
... As a result of this, your script page, User:JJPMaster/RWS.js, is generating links in Special:WantedTemplates (in particular links to Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:RWTEXT and Special:WhatLinksHere/Template:RWTEXT\). Recently, an interface editor attempted to fix this by adding <nowiki>
at the top and </nowiki>
at the bottom of your script page. This didn't work because you already have <nowiki>...</nowiki>
on that page. It would be great if you could add <syntaxhighlight>...</syntaxhighlight>
tags (you don't have these) at the top and bottom of your page like this which will prevent your page from generating links in Special:WantedTemplates. Thanks for your help! Plastikspork ―Œ(talk) 14:35, 24 March 2021 (UTC)

Please don't edit closed case pages, especially to make changes to the final decision. I have reverted you as changes to final decisions usually require arbitrator motions. Floyd The Barber
Hi. It's been a few months, I took a break, and decided to finish the page. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Floyd_the_Barber_(Nirvana_Song) I hope this is good enough! 26 March 2021 BoxxyBoy (talk)
- BoxxyBoy, the article LGTM, however I think it would be better to merge the article to Bleach (Nirvana album), because the source's generally reference the album as a whole, instead of the song specifically. JJP...MASTER![talk to] JJP... master? 01:39, 27 March 2021 (UTC)
I get what you are saying, and the page still could use a couple additions, which i am working on as we speak, but is a song such as floyd the barber, which the band considered their first big hit, less deserving of a page than, say, endless nameless (talk) March 26, 09:58.

Hello JJPMaster:
WikiProject Articles for creation is holding a month long Backlog Drive!
The goal of this drive is to eliminate the backlog of unreviewed articles. The drive is running until 31 July 2021.
Barnstars will be given out as awards at the end of the drive.
There is currently a backlog of over 900 articles, so start reviewing articles. We're looking forward to your help!

New Page Patrol newsletter September 2021
Hello JJPMaster,
Please join this discussion - there is increase in the abuse of Wikipedia and its processes by POV pushers, Paid Editors, and by holders of various user rights including Autopatrolled. Even our review systems themselves at AfC and NPR have been infiltrated. The good news is that detection is improving, but the downside is that it creates the need for a huge clean up - which of course adds to backlogs.
Copyright violations are also a serious issue. Most non-regular contributors do not understand why, and most of our Reviewers are not experts on copyright law - and can't be expected to be, but there is excellent, easy-to-follow advice on COPYVIO detection here.
At the time of the last newsletter (#25, December 2020) the backlog was only just over 2,000 articles. New Page Review is an official system. It's the only firewall against the inclusion of new, improper pages.
There are currently 706 New Page Reviewers plus a further 1,080 admins, but as much as nearly 90% of the patrolling is still being done by around only the 20 or so most regular patrollers.
If you are no longer very active on Wikipedia or you no longer wish to be part of the New Page Reviewer user group, please consider asking any admin to remove you from the list. This will enable NPP to have a better overview of its performance and what improvements need to be made to the process or its software.
Various awards are due to be allocated by the end of the year and barnstars are overdue. If you would like to manage this, please let us know. Indeed, if you are interested in coordinating NPR, it does not involve much time and the tasks are described here.

Invitation to take part in a survey about medical topics on Wikipedia
Dear fellow editor,
I am Piotr Konieczny, a sociologist of new media at Hanyang University (and User:Piotrus on Wikipedia). I would like to better understand Wikipedia's volunteers who edit medical topics, many associated with the WikiProject Medicine, and known to create some of the highest quality content on Wikipedia. I hope that the lessons I can learn from you that I will present to the academic audience will benefit both the WikiProject Medicine (improving your understanding of yourself and helping to promote it and attract new volunteers) and the wider world of medical volunteering and academia. Open access copy of the resulting research will be made available at WikiProject's Medicine upon the completion of the project.
All questions are optional. The survey is divided into 4 parts: 1 - Brief description of yourself; 2 - Questions about your volunteering; 3 - Questions about WikiProject Medicine and 4 - Questions about Wikipedia's coverage of medical topics.
Please note that by filling out this questionnaire, you consent to participate in this research. The survey is anonymous and all personal details relevant to your experience will be kept private and will not be transferred to any third party.
I appreciate your support of this research and thank you in advance for taking the time to participate and share your experiences! If you have any questions at all, please feel free to contact me at my Wikipedia user page or through my email listed on the survey page (or by Wikipedia email this user function).
The survey is accessible through the LINK HERE.

WP:AFC Helper News
Hello! I wanted to drop a quick note for all of our AFC participants; nothing huge and fancy like a newsletter, but a few points of interest.
- AFCH will now show live previews of the comment to be left on a decline.
- The template {{db-afc-move}} has been created - this template is similar to {{db-move}} when there is a redirect in the way of an acceptance, but specifically tells the patrolling admin to let you (the draft reviewer) take care of the actual move.
Short and sweet, but there's always more to discuss at WT:AFC. Stop on by, maybe review a draft on the way? Whether you're one of our top reviewers, or haven't reviewed in a while, I want to thank you for helping out in the past and in the future.
