Styracosaurus

Would you be able to update the Styracosaurus article with these papers [1][2] [3]?

Not at the moment, since I have a lot of review to do. But I will keep this in mind! --Jens Lallensack (talk) 11:48, 1 January 2022 (UTC)

GAN backlog drive

Jens Lallensack, just a reminder that the drive doesn't officially start for another 30 minutes, at midnight UTC. I'd imagine that those running the drive will be willing to AGF if you meant your new reviews to be part of the drive, but you might want to hold off starting any more reviews until then. Thanks for participating! BlueMoonset (talk) 23:30, 31 December 2021 (UTC)

Thanks, I didn't think about the fact that it starts at UTC. Be assured that I still haven't start reviewing that article. --Jens Lallensack (talk) 11:51, 1 January 2022 (UTC)

COVID-19 pandemic

Jens Lallensack, I noticed your doing/have done some reviews for GA, I've managed to have this [4] copyedited by the Guild of copyeditors, any help is appreciated, thank you--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 19:52, 2 January 2022 (UTC)

Thanks, I'm sure somebody, if not myself, will come to it soon, but I should focus on the older nominations first. At first sight, I would worry a bit about oversplitting of sections and short paragraphs, especially single-sentence paragraphs, which we should avoid per MOS:LINEBREAKS. Fixing this would certainly make the article more attractive to reviewers! --Jens Lallensack (talk) 20:11, 2 January 2022 (UTC)
thank you--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 20:15, 2 January 2022 (UTC)

Hundred Years' War, 1345–1347

Hi Jens. Thanks again for the input to Lancaster's chevauchée of 1346. Just in case you actually meant "Hoping to see further pieces of your series."   the current state of play is below. That was the last of the Gascon five, but Battle of Caen (1346) is at ACR if tou feel like dropping by. Gog the Mild (talk) 21:50, 2 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi Gog, thanks, thats an impressive achievement already! I put the Caen article is on my reviewing list. --Jens Lallensack (talk) 21:58, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
It keeps me off the streets. Thanks. Similarly, if you have any reviewing or copy editing that needs doing, give me a shout. Gog the Mild (talk) 22:02, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
Great, I will certainly come back to that! --Jens Lallensack (talk) 22:04, 2 April 2019 (UTC)

Ha! I accidently stumbled across this and realised that all of the articles are now FAs, bar Hundred Years' War, 1345–1347, which wasn't even an article then and is now a FAC waiting for the last reviewer to come back before, I hope, being promoted and completing the set. Thanks for your help in levering the whole mess over the bar. Gog the Mild (talk) 19:37, 3 January 2022 (UTC)

Congratulations, and thank you for all this great work – I really love this series! --Jens Lallensack (talk) 19:41, 3 January 2022 (UTC)

In appreciation

  The Premium Reviewer Barnstar
By the authority vested in me by myself it gives me great pleasure to present you with this barnstar in recognition of the vast number of thorough, detailed and actionable reviews you have carried and are carrying out. No one gets an easy pass from Jens, which is just how it should be. Your work is very much appreciated. Gog the Mild (talk) 19:32, 3 January 2022 (UTC)
Thanks a lot, Gog, much appreciated! --Jens Lallensack (talk) 19:37, 3 January 2022 (UTC)

Environmental DNA review

Hi Jens. I have developed a medical condition which leaves me currently unable to participate further in the GA review for Environmental DNA. Would you please fail the review. I hope to recover, and renominate the article, and that you might be willing to pick up the review again so it can be completed. In the meantime, thank you very much for the input you have already offered. Regards. — Epipelagic (talk) 03:40, 6 January 2022 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the note. And sure, feel free to ping me once you renominate the article. All the best, --Jens Lallensack (talk) 11:03, 6 January 2022 (UTC)

Your GA nomination of Thinopus

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Thinopus you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria.   This process may take up to 7 days. Your GA nomination of Thinopus

The article Thinopus you nominated as a good article has been placed on hold  . The article is close to meeting the good article criteria, but there are some minor changes or clarifications needing to be addressed. If these are fixed within 7 days, the article will pass; otherwise it may fail. See Talk:Thinopus for issues which need to be addressed. Your GA nomination of Ohmdenosaurus

The article Ohmdenosaurus you nominated as a good article has passed  ; see Talk:Ohmdenosaurus for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already appeared on the main page as a "Did you know" item, or as a bold link under "In the News" or in the "On This Day" prose section, you can nominate it within the next seven days to appear in DYK. Bolded names with dates listed at the bottom of the "On This Day" column do not affect DYK eligibility. Your Review of the Battle of the Wilderness

@Jens Lallensack: - Thank you so much for reviewing the Battle of the Wilderness. The article is a rewrite of the B-class version originally written by Hal Jesperson User:Hlj, who is mostly retired. I was concerned enough about changing an article with 20,000 to 30,000 views per month that I consulted with others, including Hal, before making changes. In addition to the Peer Review, there is a "Pre-Peer Review" currently on my talk page. Many of the charts were done by Hal, and much of the wording is his. I added info about the cavalry, removed some junk that had accumulated over the years, and altered text in some cases to fit the citations. There are 23 footnotes, mostly to keep from getting off-task and to present alternate views. I'm sorry the article is so long, but it is a High Importance and Vital article on an important battle that was complicated. Thanks again TwoScars (talk) 16:50, 16 January 2022 (UTC)

Sure! I'm looking forward to reviewing it! I might need two or three days. Thanks, --Jens Lallensack (talk) 18:20, 16 January 2022 (UTC)
Hi Jens Lallensack - Thank you for your patience. It is great to work with someone with so many accomplishments. Sometimes I push back a little, please don't be offended. Hopefully the images help clarify a huge and complicated battle. TwoScars (talk) 17:46, 19 January 2022 (UTC)
No worries, all good – I only make suggestions that may go into the wrong direction, and I'm not very experienced with milhist articles! --Jens Lallensack (talk) 16:25, 20 January 2022 (UTC)
Thank you so much for all your time, effort, and patience. I recently did a peer review for an article on a topic for which I was totally unfamiliar, and it was difficult for me. You reviewed a long article of 100k bytes—very impressive. Some day, but not in the immediate future, I may try to get an article up to Featured Article. How close or far is Battle of the Wilderness? Thanks TwoScars (talk) 19:15, 22 January 2022 (UTC)
You are welcome. Concerning your question, I would recommend you to submit it to Wikipedia:WikiProject Military history/Assessment/A-Class review, which is somewhere in-between GA and FA level. And after it passes there, I would definitely send it to FAC. --Jens Lallensack (talk) 19:25, 22 January 2022 (UTC)

Red panda peer review

Would you be able to peer review the red panda article? Thanks. LittleJerry (talk) 18:16, 11 February 2022 (UTC)

I'm very occupied at the moment. That looks interesting though. I will try to get to it the next days, but can't promise anything right now. --Jens Lallensack (talk) 18:19, 11 February 2022 (UTC)

Opisthocoelicaudia at WP:URFA/2020

You are invited to URFA/2020, a working group reviewing featured articles promoted between 2004 and 2015. An article that you nominated for FA status, Opisthocoelicaudia, has been marked as "Satisfactory" by two editors, meaning that they believe the article meets the featured article criteria. Can you check the article and determine if the article meets the FA criteria? If it does, please mark it as "Satisfactory" on WP:URFA/2020B. If you have concerns about the article, we hope that you will fix it up or post your concerns on the article's talk page. If you have any questions, please go to the URFA/2020 talk page or ping me. Thanks for your help and happy editing! Z1720 (talk) 02:13, 15 February 2022 (UTC)

Crusading movement

Hey Lens, you kindly had some input to the Peer review of this, and attempted a GAR—for that thank you. You did say you were going to format some of the feedback into actional improvements. Is this still the case? I think it is already improved some way.

I would understand if you wanted to avoid the heat the topic generates, Norfolkbigfish (talk) 07:46, 5 March 2022 (UTC)

Request for input

Hi Jens, If that’s not too much to ask, could you please take a look at this FA nomination? I only got one review and the nomination will be shelved if it doesn’t receive more attention. You have reviewed one of my previous FA nominations and I am asking if you could be so kind to do it again. el.ziade (talkallam) 20:25, 6 June 2022 (UTC)

Hi Elias, that looks like a very interesting article. I will try to review, but hope I am not over-committing here as I am very short on time. --Jens Lallensack (talk) 20:30, 6 June 2022 (UTC)

Homo antecessor

If you can recall, way back at the beginning of the year, Homo antecessor was at FAC but I became inactive and have been since then. I finally have some time so I may try to restart it in the coming days, but you still had some unresolved comments before I left which I want to make sure are resolved beforehand. Your remaining comments revolve around the cladogram which I believe I've addressed now Dunkleosteus77 (talk) 01:57, 13 June 2022 (UTC)

Good to see you are back! Article looks good now. The last thing I am worried about is that you turned the Stringer diagram into a cladogram, which I think is problematic because 1) it is not a cladogram, 2) it does not precisely reflect the source, and 3) is WP:Synth. Just keeping the original image is better imo. Apart from that, I would be ready to support once you submit the article. --Jens Lallensack (talk) 07:09, 13 June 2022 (UTC)
I remember you had a problem with the image because it shows Neanderthals and modern humans splitting off far after the H. antecessor branch which you found confusing with "probably one branching off just before the modern human/Neanderthal split" Dunkleosteus77 (talk) 19:10, 13 June 2022 (UTC)
I merely was concerned that the image was not well integrated into the text; but Stringer is mentioned now, so no issue anymore. Jens Lallensack (talk) 22:52, 13 June 2022 (UTC)
Regarding synth in cladograms, we just had a gigantic discussion on it while you were away: [5]. --Jens Lallensack (talk) 22:55, 13 June 2022 (UTC)
  • Also while I have you here, I remember your main problem with Paranthropus robustus was there was no background section. Could you enumerate what you’d like to see in a background section? Dunkleosteus77 (talk) 01:10, 22 June 2022 (UTC)

COVID-19 pandemic

Hi, I've seen that you are a frequent article reviewer, I will be nominating the above article for GA (I had done so in December of last year but was told it was too early). I'm interested if you could help, the pandemic is winding down per [6] and I'm in no rush, I realize your time is valuable, thank you, Ozzie--Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 15:19, 24 August 2022 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for working on this important article. Unfortunately I will be travelling starting this weekend and won't have time. However, I had a quick look and can give you a few pointers:
  • make sure all sentences end with inline citations
  • avoid single-sentenced paragraphs. Make sure there always is a coherent text and a logical flow of information. The problem is especially evident in the "2022" section, which looks like a random collection of facts.
  • Worth mentioning that there is no scientific evidence that hand washing/desinfection reduces the risk of infection? --Jens Lallensack (talk) 19:01, 24 August 2022 (UTC)
thank you will work to improve the article based on your recommendations, --Ozzie10aaaa (talk) 02:04, 25 August 2022 (UTC)

Promotion of Ohmdenosaurus

Congratulations, Jens Lallensack! The article you nominated, Ohmdenosaurus, has been promoted to featured status, recognizing it as one of the best articles on Wikipedia. The nomination discussion has been archived.
This is a rare accomplishment and you should be proud. If you would like, you may nominate it to appear on the Main page as Today's featured article. Keep up the great work! Cheers, Ian Rose (talk) via FACBot (talk) 00:06, 25 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi, congratulations on getting Ohmdenosaurus to featured status! I was wondering if you had access to Wild's original 1978 description paper ("Ein Sauropoden-Rest (Reptilia, Saurischia) aus dem Posidonienschiefer (Lias, Toarcium) von Holzmaden"). I've found it quite difficult to access his publications in the past. If you do, is there a way you could share it? Thanks, -SlvrHwk (talk) 07:17, 26 September 2023 (UTC)

Happy Halloween

Knowledgegatherer23 has given you some caramel and a candy apple! Caramel and candy-coated apples are fun Halloween treats, and promote WikiLove on Halloween. Hopefully these have made your Halloween (and the preceding days) much sweeter. Happy Halloween!

'"On Psych, A USA Network TV series Episode 8, The Tao of Gus, Season 6, Shawn refers to pumpkins as "Halloween Apples" because he thinks all round fruits are a type of apple.

Happy Halloween! Happy fall if you don't celebrate Halloween!

If Trick-or-treaters come your way, add {{subst:Halloween apples}} to their talkpage with a spoooooky message!
