Judy Mowatt

I removed the false claim that Judy Mowatt is he wife of Bunny Wailer, also that she uses, or used Jean Watt as a pseudonym. She DID use Jean as a stage name very briefly in 1970, which may be the reason for the confusion. Bunny Wailer has been living with a different person (they are not married) named Jean Watt, who was reported missing on May 23, 2020. I also contacted D.Moskowitz, the author of the book which is used as source to the false info of Mowatt And Watt being the same person, to investigate his source. He replied that he cannot recall, so not first-hand knowledge (how could it be?) Phk1966.

King Vidor - "Footnotes" and "References"

Hi Jerod - I noticed you revised the Footnote/Reference section the King Vidor bio, placing all citations under References, then listing the sources without a heading. @Lord Such&Such: See MOS:NOTES on why the name was chosen. If you are using explanatory footnotes that are not a reference then check out WP:EXPLNOTE for the various templates to use for them, in general {{efn}} will do. Those can be placed separately in a Notes section, which I generally place above the References section. MOS:ORDER does not specify an order for the two though. However, all references are put into the same section in general. I also recommend that if use a reference you do so as a footnote to support a statement, to show that you aren't accidentally doing some WP:SYNTHESIS. Jerod Lycett (talk) 18:24, 1 July 2020 (UTC)

@Bakertheacre: For the first, the edit by 116.75.76.204 was vandalism, and I was reverting to before that vandalism. For the second all the additions by 24.184.55.221 were spam links, and I was reverting to before that vandalism. You need to make sure that you aren't just leaving vandalism behind when you make edits with WPCleaner. It's really easy to click the check history button and look to make sure. @Apchrysafis: I had to look at your contributions to figure out what you meant as I first assumed you meant 1271. The reason you were reverted is because you removed a ton of references and added a ton of uncited information. Do not remove cited information. Anyone can remove uncited information at any time, which I did so. You also used bolding instead of actual headers, which is an accessibility and MOS issue. How can I keep the existing citations in instances where I want to reorder the text within the page? How can I add citations to the new information? Am I allowed to include factual information that was not sourced online but rather directly from the company? How can I replace images with recent ones that feature significantly updated elements? @Apchrysafis: First, you need to address the possible Conflict of interest. Second, you should use an article's talk page to come to a consensus with others if you want to change the order of a page, note that MOS:ORDER has guidelines on that too. When you change the order of text make sure you move the citations that support them with it. Third, no, self-published sources are not WP:RS, and statements need to be supported by a neutral third party. There's also issues with WP:NPOV that could come up with that. Fourth, images have to be uploaded here properly and shown to be free of copyright to be used in most situations, usually meaning you took the photo yourself and can show ownership. Finally, please learn how to thread on a talk page. I suggest taking The Wikipedia Adventure to learn how to edit here. You can use the Teahouse to ask further questions if you need help. I primarily focus on WP:Methodism, WP:Anti-vandalism, and WP:WCW stuff. However, you seriously need to address the Conflict of interest possibility, as non-disclosure will get you banned permanently. Question from Cdblachford

Hi Jerodlycett, I am having trouble with the proper way to cite references. In looking at the last version, someone eliminated much of the article. Can I leave the article as draft? The citations are not as easy as I thought they would be. He won the Korean Championship in 1965 - this pre-dates some of the lists of Korean Taekwondo people. @Cdblachford: First, please start new sections on talk pages. Second, I strongly recommend to you to take The Wikipedia Adventure. Third, our version of Notability and yours may differ. We also have requirements on sources, biggest being they may be Reliable sources. A blog or business' website or press releases are generally not considered reliable as they are self-published. Primary sources (those written by the subject of the article) are also not considered reliable. The article in Blackbelt for example was written by Ki himself, and for that reason cannot be used to establish notability. If you have coverage in second party sources (usually news or magazines being the easiest to find), aren't copying from them violating copyright, and can support what you're saying with citations then feel free to edit the article. However everything I removed was not only unsupported, but from the sources provided could not be supported. You'll see almost none of what remains is supported. @Jjeanpierre11: First, please create a new section when using talk pages. Second, please do sign your posts on talk pages. Third, I strongly suggest you take The Wikipedia Adventure. The message you left is basically unreadable. From what I can piece together you have one book that may be a Reliable source ISBN 9780615119007, an article about what appears to be yourself in what is possibly a reliable source, an article that I would highly question is in a reliable source written by what appears to be you, but which suggests a Conflict of Interest in editing that article, and a memoire/autobiography which is absolutely not going to be considered a reliable source. As for the information you keep trying to add about the trademark, I see no evidence of that, whatsoever, being true. You also appear to be working on behalf of people trying to push a WP:POV. If you are being paid for it then you absolutely need to disclose that. As for discographies, most of those are not considered reliable and trying to source to them will get your edit reverted. Question for you

Hi, I noticed that some articles I tag for deletion, you come up shortly after me and perform the tasks in WPCleaner. Since I nominated them for deletion or CSD, I usually will not fix the errors on them. Would you prefer I did fix the errors? Typically I would consider it a waste of time if it gets deleted especially for some of these that have upwards of 100 errors on the page due to editors not adding code correctly or spelling or what not. Thoughts?

@Bakertheacre: Since you can't guarantee the page will be deleted you should fix the errors, especially in the off chance it just gets draftified. Remember, anyone can remove the PROD or CSD as a challenge to it. At which point unless you circle back and AfD it, which will take at minimum a week, the errors will be sitting there, assuming that no one finds something to show it's notable. If your interest lies away from fixing errors there is always New pages patrol, which I'd rank as a higher responsibility and higher importance. Jerodlycett, thank you for that information. I was wondering if you can look at the history of 1861 Goulburn colonial by-election for me please? I took the wiki link out of the title and someone added it back in with “ ‎Link included for excerpt” as their edit note. I am not familiar with that as my understanding from reading everything is nothing in an article should be linking back to the same article. Maybe this is something different. WPCleaner caught this error so I removed the link. It should be the top 2 on the history (at the time of this writing).

Also I noticed at the top of some pages it is missing “Article Description”. Is there a page or list where those are so I can put the right ones in?

I will look into the other items you mentioned. My schedule is all over the place depending on orders and deliveries but I will still take a look.

That's because some people apparently decided that it's okay to transclude parts of articles into other articles rather than just rewriting it. While this barely makes sense in cases where things are updated regularly, I think it overall causes an issue for editors, but I think that'd need to be taken to an RFC to be ended. Harry Shaw (English Footballer)

Hi I noticed you edited this page yesterday. This refers to my mated grandfather. His name was Harold never Harry. Some of the articles referred to correctly refer to him as Harold. @Johntc1: The references that are on there refer to him as Harry, and we use the WP:COMMONNAME here. If you can show that more media refer to him as Harold than Harry there may be an argument to be made. As for your relation to him, that is a conflict of interest, which there are rules on. ISBN

I was just doing cleanup on an article and it threw an error about a check digit on ISBN 9781674368378 however, it is a valid ISBN. This is one of many places it is listed {https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/international-journal-of-middle-east-studies/article/stefan-ihrig-ataturk-in-the-nazi-imagination-cambridge-mass-belknap-press-of-harvard-university-press-2014-pp-311-2995-cloth-isbn-9781674368378/D9A24D0ABE332BEA024F02754AD2E887} It is even in the world catalog. Is WP pulling this information from somewhere that would say it is invalid? The article is Stefan Ihrig. Look at references 12 and 15 please? Could you let me know how to fix that please?

Also, two side notes for you:

1. Reference 12 cites numerous sources that shows where his book is at and I do not think that is correct. 2. I also made some changes to a duplicate finder script if you would like to test it. Once all duplicate links are handled the page will look normal. First instance will have a green box around it and duplicates will be red. You have to do the full article so I open one in edit mode then another tab in the actual article. I have some plans for hoping getting this to kinda automate to help. I just did an article where pretty much everything was blue or red lol.Link

@Bakertheacre: I'm not sure what you mean by duplicate finder. As for the citations, almost of those seem to point to reviews or citations of it, not sure why they felt they needed so many. For the reference errors they have help links that explain things, if they're not visible see if editing your CSS file helps, mine is here. As for the ISBN, it's not a valid ISBN, you can calculate the check digit here to see. In that case you need to mark it as a proper, but invalid, ISBN with the parameter ignore-isbn-error. Jerodlycett, Cool beans! I will check that out. So say Jerrod is has an article on wikipedia. Someone wrote another article about something Jerrod was involved in. They mention him numerous times throughout the article (maybe even 5 times in a paragraph). That would be overlinking because maybe the editor linked to [[Jerrod]] 80 times in the article. The JS I edited will put a green box around the first linked [[Jerrod]] and then a red box around all of the other links to [[Jerrod]]. Jerodlycett, Here is a link to an image so you can see what it looks like: https://imgur.com/Cep9f2n (the dotted green is the first instance of the link and the solid reds are duplicate links. It checks the link itself to see if it is duplicated, but if it is a different link it will see it in green. IE . [[Jerod]] *will be green; 2nd and on [[Jerod]] will be seen as red. [[Jerod|Jerod Wise]] will be green [[Jerod|Jerrod Smith]] should be red.
