John Fullerton
editThe article has been deleted as a result of this debate: Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/John Fullerton. Some users suggested that the page be moved into your user space. If you would like me to do this, then just ask me and I can undelete the page in order to complete the move. You can also request to view the content at deletion review or ask one of these admins if I'm not around. --bainer (talk) 12:25, 17 December 2005 (UTC)
- Would it be possible to do so? Thanks.
- Is it also possible to know why exactly you believed the article on Fullerton should have been deleted. I understand there was quite a consensus for deletion but a lot of this was due to the negative image as a result of the invasion of trolls who had nothing to do with me. I could hazard a guess that they were probably excitable pupils of Fullerton's who got word that he was on the site. When sources and evidence were produced they were ignored and overshadowed by the negative impact of the invasion. I went to quite an effort to find books which dealt with Fullerton in detail but this effort and the sources I provided seemed to be completely ignored. --Johnfullerton 01:20, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
- You can now find the page at User:Johnfullerton/John Fullerton. Be advised that other people have edited this page, so if you plan on using the content elsewhere, you need to follow the obligations for users in Wikipedia:Copyrights, or alternatively use only this version which you alone contributed to.
- Regarding the AfD debate, the job of the closing admin is merely to implement the decision of the community, not to judge whether it is correct or not. It seems that people didn't think that Fullerton satisfied the notability guidelines for people, or that the sources you provided were not verifiable. St Columb's website, for example, only showed winners of the Alumnus Illustrissimus up to 2003. This site showed that Fullerton is a coach, but did not verify any of the other details. I'd advise that (after waiting a few weeks) you gather all the references you can, prepare selected quotes from them, cite the sources, maybe use the citation templates, and start the article again, with the references in there from the start and with perhaps a little less glorious language. Make it sound less like a vanity page. Unfortunately there's a bias towards internet sources, and since Google turned up nothing relevant, people may have not trusted your book references. However if they're there from the start, it should be easier for you to prove that it's verifiable.
- Also note that it's generally considered bad form to blank your talk page; if you want to archive the content, see Wikipedia:How to archive a talk page. --bainer (talk) 06:29, 18 December 2005 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Fullerton1.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Fullerton1.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. — Rebelguys2 talk 08:51, 4 March 2006 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Fullertoninpastandpresent.JPG
editThanks for uploading Image:Fullertoninpastandpresent.JPG. The image has been identified as not specifying the copyright status of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the copyright status of the image on the image's description page, using an appropriate copyright tag, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided copyright information for them as well.

User Page
editAs you're not the John Fullerton the article is about, could you please remove the content from your main user page, as otherwise it will lead to obvious confusion. The article in question was userfied to a subpage, as is usual, but by you putting it on the main page, it could easily be seen as trying to get around the deletion decision and "publishing" the article anyway. Images
editHi. Please don't reupload images after they have been deleted for having bad license information and place {{PD-self}} on them. It's annoying to delete the same image repeatedly, and there are enough images in the deletion queue to keep us busy without further additions. Thanks. Jkelly 23:04, 28 July 2006 (UTC)
Darren Kelly
editJohn, I feel it is in very poor form that you decided to remove the article about Darren Kelly in order to replace it with Darren Kelly the footballer. Darren Kelly the radio presenter presents on one of the biggest stations in the country, with a weekly audience of 800,000. The other Darren Kelly is an obscure footballer playing in Northern Ireland.
I see you reinserted very unencyclopedic content on the Derry City F.C. article. You surely can't believe that this should be there? ie
“ | The team doctor is currently Dr. Joe McEvoy. He is considered a damn nice, if vertically challenged, guy. With lovely Joe as doctor you don't see too many Derry players eating apples. | ” |
I was curious as to why you think it should be there? It does seems like you are either 'taking the piss' or you are mis-reading the purpose of Wikipedia. You can answer here on on my talk page or the Derry City page, up to you. Kind regards SeanMack 12:25, 31 August 2006 (UTC)

Derrypsg.jpg
editHello, I have deleted Image:Derrypsg.jpg as a blatant copyright infringement and clearly incorrectly tagged. You tagged the photo as "PD self", in essence saying you took the photo and have released it into the public domain. However the photo has a clear "C.Gavelle" at the bottom of, this is the name of someone who is a staff photographer with PSG. You downloaded the photo from http://www.allpsg.com/news-3769.html.
I am also concerned that Image:Derry.jpg is inappropriately tagged and has simply downloaded off a website. Again you have tagged it "PD self" - can you prove this by uploading a higher resolution (or original size) version?
Please have a careful read of WP:IUP and WP:TAGS, as this seems to be a reoccurring problem.
Thanks/wangi 12:50, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
- I have now deleted Image:Derry.jpg. Thanks/wangi 15:16, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
I've deleted a number of images you have uploaded that were blatant copyright violations. Most of these were taken from http://www.derrycityfc.net/squad.php. Please note that simply because you copy an image from a website, and slightly modify it, change size, whatever...the image does not become "yours" to release. The original creator of the image retains rights. For example, you can't take the logo for Coca-Cola, change the color slightly, and then make a million t-shirts for sale with that 'new' logo on it. The lawyers for Coca-Cola would be at your door very rapidly. Please do not claim self-authorship of another image if you take that image from a website. If you have any questions about this, I'd be happy to answer. Thanks, --Durin 14:56, 18 October 2006 (UTC)
A tag has been placed on Foyle Harps, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable. If you can indicate why Foyle Harps is really notable, you can contest the tagging. To do this, please affix the template {{hangon}}
to the page and leave a note on Talk:Foyle Harps, explaining how Foyle Harps is notable. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself.
Please read the criteria for speedy deletion (specifically, article #7) and our general biography criteria. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Bubba hotep 23:39, 28 October 2006 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:DColdcrest.gif
editThank you for uploading Image:DColdcrest.gif. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

Orphaned fair use image (Image:Civilian.jpg)
editThanks for uploading Image:Civilian.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable under fair use (see our fair use policy).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. editUnspecified source for Image:Drogers.JPG
editThanks for uploading Image:Drogers.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 23:19, 9 February 2007 (UTC). Unspecified source for Image:Mccourtpaddy.JPG
editThanks for uploading Image:Mccourtpaddy.JPG.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. edit- You say they are "personal photos." Did you actually take these pictures yourself with your camera? They appear to be standard publicity photos one would find on a website about them. Did you find the photos on a website? --MECU≈talk 19:02, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- "Bar a few of them which I received permission", we would need to see that permission that they agreed to license the image under the GFDL. Also, I would like to see the larger, original images. You don't have to upload them to Wikipedia if they're elsewhere. --MECU≈talk 19:26, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. --MECU≈talk 21:20, 10 February 2007 (UTC)
- I will not delist them from PUIdisputed. However, once you obtain permission, you can either re-upload the images with the same filename(s) or request their undeletion at WP:DRV. I don't think it is likely the team is willing to release their images into the public domain. --MECU≈talk 18:09, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'm starting to believe you, but partly to fully believe you and to help you avoid problems like this in the future: Could you upload a high resolution, large filesize image? All the ones you uploaded to prove you took them were ~640K, on an 8MP camera! Wikipedia will take up to 5MB (might be 2MB) without complaining. My thought is that you could have just taken them from a website at that size/resolution. Also, do you have some sort of press credentials that you could scan/take a picture of? Like a photographer pass to the events? I hope you don't think I'm being a jerk by having you go to such lengths, but like I said, if you can prove yourself now, you'll have a much better time in the long run. Lastly, since you are uploading all these images and they are yours, you should upload them to commons instead, and you can still use them on Wikipedia just like they were "here". But we can get to that in a bit. Thank you for (calmly) working me with through this. --MECU≈talk 14:03, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- How does the club give you access to the pitch? (part curiosity here) Is there some written agreement? And if you're freely licensing the images, we want the largest resolution possible (contrary to fair use, we want limited, small resolution), unless there is some reason you don't want to license a large resolution size image, which is fine, it's happened before that someone wanted to only release a low-resolution version of their artwork, but it becomes hard to control, especially if you have larger resolutions available on the web. I guess I'm being a little over paranoid here. For the next season, please include large resolution images with the exif data from the camera. Uploading to commons would be quite preferred again too. Thank you. --MECU≈talk 18:51, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

editOrphaned fair use image (Image:Catwalk.JPG)
editThanks for uploading Image:Catwalk.JPG.
Thank you. BetacommandBot 17:31, 11 May 2007 (UTC)

Purple Tommy - Rough Diamonds feud
editA tag has been placed on Purple Tommy - Rough Diamonds feud, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion. To do this, add {{hangon}}
on the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag) and leave a note on the article's talk page explaining your position. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Адам12901 T/C 22:05, 21 May 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Eircomleague.jpg
editThanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Eircomleague.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:47, 4 June 2007 (UTC)

Notability of Philip Deignan
editHello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Philip Deignan, by Pathless (talk · contribs), another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Philip Deignan seems to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Philip Deignan, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Please note, this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Philip Deignan itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. --Android Mouse Bot 2 15:05, 19 June 2007 (UTC)
Replaceable fair use Image:Murchu.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Murchu.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that fair use images which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 7 days after this notification, per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 15:51, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Image source problem with Image:Avec.gif
editThis is an automated message from a robot. You have recently uploaded Image:Avec.gif. The file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use.
If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 10:40, 12 September 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. If you believe you received this message in error, please notify the bot's owner. Disputed fair use rationale for Image:CorkCeltic.png
editThanks for uploading Image:CorkCeltic.png. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Image source problem with Image:Richiehorse.jpg
editThanks for uploading Image:Richiehorse.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear.

Orphaned non-free image (File:Eircomleague.jpg)
editThanks for uploading File:Eircomleague.jpg. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. FileBot (talk) 05:08, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
AfD nomination of Belfast and District League
editAn editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Belfast and District League. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").
Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Belfast and District League. Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).
You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.
Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. --Erwin85Bot (talk) 01:09, 4 November 2009 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Enda.jpg
editThank you for uploading File:Enda.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. Angus McLellan (Talk) 22:42, 28 December 2009 (UTC)
Unreferenced BLPs
editHello Johnfullerton! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 5 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to insure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. if you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 295 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:
- Ken Oman - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
- Jonathan Speak - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
- Nelson da Silva - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
- Eugene Ferry - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
- Paul McGuinness (Northern Irish footballer) - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
Thanks!--DASHBot (talk) 22:06, 8 January 2010 (UTC)
The article Eugene Ferry has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- Non-notable footballer who fails WP:ATHLETE as the Irish leagues are not fully professional. Also fails notability and verifiability due to lack of sources.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. -- BigDom 11:57, 11 February 2010 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:Mccourtpaddy2.JPG
editThanks for uploading File:Mccourtpaddy2.JPG. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Soundvisions1 (talk) 13:49, 21 September 2010 (UTC)

It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
