Hello, I'm APK. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Nikolai Vasilievich Demidov have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. Thanks. APK hi :-) (talk) 10:05, 18 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Hello, APK. I appreciate your feedback (not the insulting tone).
My intention was to provide information on the important role that Andrei Malaev-Babel and the Demidov Association play in preserving Nikolai Demidov’s acting techniques.
Since Andrei Malaev Babel is the only one that has published Demidov's books in English and he is considered an expert in but Russia and in the English speaking world with the help Of Laskina herself, I think my addition was beyond sandbox experimentation.
I believe this link adds valuable context to the article, as the association is part of the Heritage. If you happen to have any constructive advice on how this could be presented in a better way (it was just a link) or how I could integrate this information in a way that adheres to YOUR guidelines I would appreciate it. You removed the Commons category link (Commons:Category:Nikolay Vasilievich Demidov) without explanation. My initial comment was far from insulting, but ok. APK hi :-) (talk) 10:38, 18 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your message. I want to clarify that I never intended to remove the Commons category link. My only aim was to add a link to the International Demidov Association, (some of the links were dead) particularly to highlight Andrei Malaev-Babel’s contributions to the preservation of Demidov’s techniques. I apologize if the removal of the Commons link was accidental.
Regarding your feedback, I understand the importance of Wikipedia's standards and maintaining quality. However, when you suggested that I "experiment in MY sandbox," I found it somewhat dismissive. As someone who has been an acting teacher for 25 years and a scholar in the Demidov technique, I take great care in presenting relevant and factual information. I’m here to contribute constructively and ensure that the page reflects the significant contributions of experts like Malaev-Babel. Kimon fioretos (talk) 10:52, 18 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
My comment was a template used countless times each day to new users, letting them know they have a sandbox where they can test edits. It's really that simple. I don't appreciate you posting on several pages that I was insulting and that you're (for reasons unknown) scared after my initial comment. That's quite an accusation. APK hi :-) (talk) 10:59, 18 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
In such a case you can explain all that to someone you realized doesn't know so much about Wikipedia, the sandbox (reference) that is now in your reply in blue in your initial comment was in red (so how could i know), if it was in blue i would have understood your intitial comment as advice, the way you wrote it became personal (I please read it again form my point of view) as for me being scared it shows how inexperienced I am at this, I used my real name...I am sorry never meant to insult you either. Kimon fioretos (talk) 11:04, 18 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
Regarding my feelings of being scared, I was simply reflecting my inexperience with Wikipedia's editing environment. I understand now that it was an overreaction on my part, especially since I used my real name, which added to my apprehension. Please understand that my intention was never to insult you, and I'm sorry if my posts made you feel that way. I will remove myself from Wikipedia, I thought I was contributing something, but this is obviously out of my depth and our of my Age (too old for this). This is your terrain and I am obviously stepping on the wrong toes creating unnecessary havoc.
Again I am terribly sorry for the misunderstanding, thank you for clarifying that your message was a template used to guide new users. I appreciate that it's a standard approach. In hindsight, I understand that the sandbox link is a common suggestion, but at the time, the link was in red, and I didn’t fully grasp its purpose it felt like a misplaced and unfortunate innuendo. This led me to perceive the comment differently than it was intended.
regretfully and sincerely

Account renaming

edit

Hi Kimon, sorry your first experiences here have been so off-putting. I wanted to let you know that it's possible to request a rename, if you're nervous about editing under your real name. However, what I would suggest doing instead is abandoning this account entirely (scramble the password on your way out, if you like) and starting a new one, never logging back into this one again. We don't allow using multiple accounts for disruptive reasons, but abandoning a brand new account because you decided you'd prefer a different username is fine.

Of course, you can also keep editing with this account - lots of people edit under their real names! -- asilvering (talk) 05:25, 19 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
