Standard welcome message

Welcome!

Welcome to Wikipedia, Klutzrick! My name is Kit, aka Todfox. I noticed that you were new and haven't received any messages yet. I just wanted to see how you were doing. Wikipedia can be a little intimidating at first, since it uses different formatting than other sites that use HTML and CSS. In the long run, though, you'll find that the WikiSyntax is a lot easier and faster than those other ways. Here are a few links to get you started:

There are a lot of policies and guides to read, but I highly recommend reading over those first. If you have any questions, feel free to leave me a message on my talk page. Please be sure to sign your name on Talk using four tildes (~~~~) to produce your name and the current date, along with a link to your user page. This way, others know when you left a message and how to find you. It's easier than having to type out your name, right? :)

I hope you enjoy contributing to Wikipedia. We can use all the help we can get! Have a nice day. Sincerely, Kit O'Connell (Todfox: user / talk / contribs) 07:04, 17 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

p.s. Hey Rick! How's it going? I am happy to see you here and working on your relative's bio. Let me know if you have any questions. Kit O'Connell (Todfox: user / talk / contribs) 07:04, 17 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

p.p.s. I see now you've had the account for a while, but the offer still stands. :) Kit O'Connell (Todfox: user / talk / contribs) 07:06, 17 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Kit-- Thanks for the welcome. I've edited a few things about my grandfather. Mostly the cause of his death, his birthdate, and to add a link to my Chronicle article about him. Rick Klaw 03:34, 20 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Negative_burn_47.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Negative_burn_47.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. When you use a generic fair use tag such as {{fair use}} or {{fair use in|article name}}, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ↔NMajdantalk 17:28, 23 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

== Image:Redpoppy.gif listed for deletion ==
Dear uploader: The media file you uploaded as Image:Redpoppy.gif has been listed for speedy deletion because you selected a copyright license type implying some type of restricted use, such as for non-commercial use only, or for educational use only or for use on Wikipedia by permission. While it might seem reasonable to assume that such files can be freely used on Wikipedia, a non-profit website, this is in fact not the case. Please do not upload any more files with these restrictions on them, because content on Wikipedia needs to be compatible with the GNU Free Documentation License, which allows anyone to use it for any purpose, commercial or non-commercial.

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If you have any questions please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thank you. —Pilotguy push to talk 02:30, 25 February 2007 (UTC)Reply

Commercial use of Image:Image-Finnboxer.jpg

edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Image-Finnboxer.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Image-Finnboxer.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Image-Finnboxer.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 14:48, 13 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Encyclopedia of Fantastic Victoriana cover.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Encyclopedia of Fantastic Victoriana cover.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:34, 26 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Mojo Press

Thank you for correcting those couple of mistakes. :o) Not sure how I misread "editor" for "director," but I'm grateful for you fixing it! ntnon (talk) 17:21, 1 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

No, thank you for cleaning up the Mojo Press and Rick Klaw entries. They are beautiful now. I really appreciate your efforts. --Rick Klaw (talk) 00:56, 2 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

You're more than welcome, Mr Klaw. :o) I'm just glad I didn't make too many glaring errors..! ("Yet", at least.) ntnon (talk) 20:49, 4 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

So have we met? You're entry reveals nothing of your identity. --Rick Klaw (talk) 01:30, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Nope! :o) I can't even remember what it says on my User page... probably something unbelievably stupid, I should think, since I haven't looked at it for several years... I should probably edit it, before too long. I'm merely an 'interested party' - personally (slowly) trying to compile a complete-as-possible bookshelf of MonkeyBrain and Mojo Press titles; John Picacio covers, etc., etc. having discovered that pretty-much everything published by a small handful of publishers/people is of considerable interest to me, and VERY much worth reading. In the meantime, I decided that someone ought to have written something about some/most/all of these companies, people and books - but since information seemed somewhat lacking, I decided to give it a go! And - amazingly! - my simple tools of research and interest seem to actually translate tolerably well into readable, mostly-accurate entries! Hurrah! ntnon (talk) 02:49, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Well thank you again. You're doing a great job. If you need any help, drop me a line. --Rick Klaw (talk) 01:44, 6 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Lost_Echoes.jpg
