Indefinite IP block
Hi. While visiting Category:Indefinitely blocked IP addresses, I realized you blocked this address nine years ago.
- 107.167.86.175 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · filter log · block user · block log)
Why on earth was it set not to automatically expire? Would you consider unblocking this address by this time?102.158.106.128 (talk) 02:32, 10 July 2024 (UTC)
- It's blocked because it's an open proxy. Read the message on the IP's talk page. And no, I will not unblock it. Katietalk 16:56, 10 July 2024 (UTC)

Redaction at Liverpool City Region
Hello. Regarding your redaction at this article's talk page, I assume it was someone noting the identify of a particular contributor. I am not sure anyone was actually revealing anything that is not already public on Wikipedia, as the user in question edited Wikipedia under their real name until last year and that account still exists (they "retired", apparently in a huff after being blocked, and then started editing under another account, returning to exactly the same article set).
I'd actually be interested to know what to do in cases like this; I commented at the ANI thread but wasn't sure whether I could link to the account in question (despite it being extremely obvious that it is the same person). Cheers, Number 57 20:14, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
Number 57 20:14, 4 April 2024 (UTC)
- No, don't link to the account. The redaction involves ELs added to the page that reveal real name and location. They were particularly concerned about location in their email to Oversight, and stated they had retired because of these ELs, so I suppressed that content. I see that one of the IPs in the ANI thread is now CU blocked, and yeah, one can draw a conclusion from that, but we can't make it explicit. If you want to take it further, an email to Arbcom is your next step. It wouldn't surprise me if a bunch of blocks get dropped on a bunch of folks before they stop dragging their stuff all over the drama boards. Katietalk 04:36, 5 April 2024 (UTC)
A teeny tiny correction
Hi Katie! Regarding your note here that "he's not allowed to remove the block notice while the block is in effect", that's incorrect. Per WP:BLANKING, editors can remove block messages while the block is in place, they just can't remove declined appeals while the sanctions are in effect. Anyway, I haven't seen you around much lately, it's nice to see your name pop up!-- Ponyobons mots 15:32, 11 August 2024 (UTC)

181.9.0.0/16
You placed Special:BlockList/181.9.0.0/16 for obviously good reasons. A user without many edits but otherwise in good standing has requested the ability to edit from this address range. The CU logs should clearly indicate who this is but let me know if you can't see. I'm wondering if you'd mind changing the block to anon-only? If you'd rather not, what are your thoughts in me granting IPBE for perhaps three months in this case? --Yamla (talk) 09:13, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
- Sure. I changed it to anon-only. :-) Katietalk 13:31, 26 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks, excellent! --Yamla (talk) 20:31, 26 August 2024 (UTC)

Nominations for the upcoming project coordinator election have opened. A team of up to ten coordinators will be elected for the next coordination year. The project coordinators are the designated points of contact for issues concerning the project, and are responsible for maintaining our internal structure and processes. If you are interested in running, please sign up here by 23:59 UTC on 14 September! Voting will commence on 15 September. If you have any questions, you can contact any member of the current coord team. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 06:41, 1 September 2024 (UTC)
