GA

edit

I've nominated this article for GA status, but I just wanted a quick opinion on it before it's reviewed in case there's something terribly wrong with it that I didn't notice. And I'm so terrified of the Kittehmaster on the 'New Section' screen. :P [oh, and when I pressed 'show preview', instead of the usual this is just a preview writing, I saw saved! I had a miniature heart attack, as I hadn't a summary!! TopGearFreak 20:44, 7 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

LOL! Ok, I'm on it. :P Pianisita.Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 20:47, 7 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
(e/c)Great to hear, TGF! But I think Eddie would be the man when it comes to GA's and FA's; he leaves notes at WP:GAN all the time. I'll leave an...uh, eye-catching edit summary that he won't miss. He's online now - I just stalked casually browsed through his recent contribs. —La Pianista (TCS) 20:48, 7 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
(after) Amazing. Simply amazing. —La Pianista (TCS) 20:49, 7 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
After a quick run through, I'd put it on hold...

GA review – see WP:WIAGA for criteria

  1. Is it reasonably well written?
    A. Prose quality:
a couple issues throughout; nothing major. Poke Pianista enough and maybe she'll fix them for you. :P
    B. MoS compliance:
  2. Is it factually accurate and verifiable?
    A. References to sources:
    B. Citation of reliable sources where necessary:
make sure that (a) every sentence in there is covered by a ref (unless consecutive sentences are covered by one ref, then they can go at the end of the last sentence that is covered...and (b) everything is covered by an in-line citation.
    C. No original research:
Is basically the entire "Music and Lyrics" section OR? (not sure)
  3. Is it broad in its coverage?
    A. Major aspects:
    B. Focused:
  4. Is it neutral?
    Fair representation without bias:
  5. Is it stable?
    No edit wars, etc:
  6. Does it contain images to illustrate the topic?
    A. Images are copyright tagged, and non-free images have fair use rationales:
    FURs look ok.
    B. Images are provided where possible and appropriate, with suitable captions:
  7. Overall:
    Pass or Fail:

Hope this helped you :) —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 20:58, 7 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Yeah, I agree. I'm not exactly an expert, but the cites need a bit more coverage. And I've done a little c/e-ing - no poking needed, thank you. darn that Eddie, with that head still in the gutter and elsewheres...La Pianista (TCS) 21:03, 7 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

edit

Hello. Just a thank you for copyediting the article. I suspect I am guilty of many of the errors you corrected -- c/e is not my strongest point. I started to give the article a major overhaul a few months ago and added many sources. This is what it looked like before I started.

The entire music and lyrics section isn't completely OR. As far as I am aware, anything in it now (about the lyrics, anyway) is interpretive is sourced. The JPStalk to me 00:35, 8 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Good job there - I've always admired in-depth article-builders. :)
Yes, it seems to need a few sources. Although it isn't entirely OR, it still needs a handful more cites.
And you're welcome. I'm far from finished, though - I haven't yet finished the last few sections, and my look was only cursory. —La Pianista (TCS) 00:39, 8 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
I didn't (and still haven't =/) looked at what info wasn't cited - if it's taken from the lyrics, it may not need a citation. —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 00:46, 8 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Nonetheless, amazingly, I'm a real quiet type irl. Like at Thanksgiving, everyone was at the dinner table, including myself, and having conversations about their lives, family, etc. Me? Smiling at jokes, eating turkey, smiling, eating, smiling, eating, and so on until someone mentions one of my recent recitals and "PANG!" my mouth starts moving! I try to keep it hushie-hushie, so it won't be too ego-tistical or whatev, but...yeah. *serious blush* It's a good life, but sometimes the old ladies my Grandmaw's friends with start pulling me around to gatherings and such-like, trying to introduce "Oh, she's so-and-so's granddaughter, and she plays so-and-so. Do you want to hear?" Without even asking me! -_- —La Pianista (TCS) 06:03, 10 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Noooo....I've learned from that. Long story short, that's how I met the Pianista-lustful ass. 'Twas at a recital - he, getting all into himself with his fancy-shmancy étude (with tons of mistakes, btw), and when I came onstage, it was like he never saw a woman before. Just...ew. Having to put up with it ever since.
But I'll leave you be - good luck with the editing and all. :) —La Pianista (TCS) 06:14, 10 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

The snow story (p.s. I made this story up)

edit

It was the winter; Alex and Jayden loved to have snowball fights. Some of the other neighborhood kids, Nathan and Joseph, also loved to play with the two. It was always an equal team and everybody was good sports. The adults would walk by laughing as Nathan creamed Alex on the face with a big snowball or when Jayden would throw snowballs at Joseph and Nathan’s fort until it fell down. Every week the four would play and laugh as the snowballs whizzed here and there. Every week the adults would walk by chortling, and every week a kid called Tom would sit on a bench watching and enjoy the snowball fight, as if he was watching TV. Then one week Alex got very sick. He could not come to the big snowball fight. The group was very sad and began walking home, when Nathan spotted Tom. Nathan asked eagerly if he wanted to play, maybe if he did they could continue there snowball fun. Tom looked at Nathan and shyly said, “Yes!” The group cheered and as Tom joined Jayden’s team they had one of the best snowball fights ever. Boy, if only Alex was there, but wait when Alex recovers from his sickness and the teams are unequal, and then what will they do? The next week the group of five sat down and talked about the teams. Then a young teenager walked by, hearing there conversation, and then answering, “I’d love to play, may I join?!” Without another word the group said, “Yes!”--Spittlespat 01:15, 9 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

Agree with Ed - can't express how much you impress this much-below-your-level c/e-er here. Must again applaud your skills. And must pet the Kittehmaster. Why do I always leave the 'I' out of my sentences? I never say "I agree with Ed..." or "I must again applaud".... eh? Icy // 23:00, 9 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Agree with Icy. ;P Even the petting part - I want to pick him up and cuddle with the kitten.
Good question - I do the same thing... —Ed 17 (Talk / Contribs) 23:03, 9 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
@ 1st Ed: Are you sure? It could start with the innocent smooches. Then the kisses travel to different places...then -lapse in transmission- of the -lapse in transmission-. And then your and my -lapse in transmission- until -lapse in transmission-. :}
@ Icy: Oy, and just as I was sickening you so... Thanks bunches for that. :)

(out, e/c x 2) Winter lovin' had me a blast - Winter lovin', happened so fast
I met a girl crazy for me - I met a boy, cute as can be
Winter days driftin' away, to uh-oh those winter nights
...
Tell me more, tell me more, was it love at first sight?
Tell me more, tell me more, did she put up a fight?
Took her bowlin' in the Arcade - we went strollin', drank lemonade
We made out under the dock - we stayed up until ten o'clock
Winter thing don't mean a thing, but uh-oh those winter nights
...
He got friendly, holdin' my hand - well she got friendly, down in the sand
He was sweet, just turned eighteen - well she was good, you know what I mean
winter cold, boy and girl meet, but uh-oh those winter nights

-gasp- Really?!!! (Now help me with those Ayumi Hamasaki singles, Spittle...) Icy // 01:03, 11 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
Well, look at it this way Spittle. They contribute a lot to articles and also the project space, which makes them kind of valuable to the project, so they can get away with a bit of fooling around. If you don't have a lot of contributions to articles and most of your edits are in the userspace, the odds are against you. The blocking admin will not take it kindly if you say "hey, I do correct spelling mistakes in articles once in a while", while making substantial edits in userspace. Besides, it's different from what you're doing; writing stories is completely unrelated to Wikipedia, while their "discussion" *ahem* are at least remotely related in some way to Wikipedia. Chamal talk 01:06, 11 December 2008 (UTC)Reply
@ Spittle: And that is supposed to be...disturbing?

@ Chamal: Thanks muchly! Aww...defending us while I was afk. But "remotely related" might still be stretching it a bit... :) —La Pianista (TCS) 02:39, 11 December 2008 (UTC)Reply

(e/c)And, Spittle, I've been skimming through your contribs at Alfred Wegener, and noticed a few things. First, you might not want to add "autumn" or other irrelevant links - see WP:OVERLINK. Basically, that draws attention away from more important links that are central to understanding the article. Secondly, when you add facts, it is best to add a reference from where you found it. You can use the templates {{cite web}} and {{cite book}} to name a few. :)
