Speedy deletion nomination of Selection Trust

edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Selection Trust requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be an unambiguous copyright infringement. This page appears to be a direct copy from https://aim25.com/cgi-bin/vcdf/detail?coll_id=3824&inst_id=1. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images taken from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites or other printed material as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website or image belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text or image — which means allowing other people to use it for any reason — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. The same holds if you are not the owner but have their permission. If you are not the owner and do not have permission, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for how you may obtain it. You might want to look at Wikipedia's copyright policy for more details, or ask a question here.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Sphilbrick, I've sent this one to WP:CP, hope you can agree; this was quite a significant company in the twentieth century, and we should perhaps have a page on it – without the copyvio, of course. Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 17:42, 3 October 2018 (UTC)Reply

Not finding email

I see a notification that you sent me an email, but I haven't located it. Can you simply respond on my talk page?S Philbrick(Talk) 20:27, 8 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

I, on the other hand, did receive an email. Libanius, I'm guessing that that email has to do with our page on Selection Trust – please correct me if that is wrong? Thank you for using email for your message, so that the identity of your correspondent is not disclosed in Wikipedia.
I'm afraid the permission you've sent me can't be used for a number of reasons: (1) it's forwarded from someone else, and we don't accept forwarded permission; (2) it's not sufficient – it doesn't specify a licence, and is limited to Wikipedia only; and (3) it was sent to me personally, not to OTRS, and I have no authority to accept it and no way of logging it were I to do so.
If the person wants irrevocably to release that content under a licence that would allow anyone, anywhere, to reproduce it in any way they please including with modifications and for commercial use, then please ask him/her to be kind enough to follow the instructions given on this page. Please make clear to him/her that even if permission is received, there is no guarantee that all or indeed any of the content will be used in Wikipedia. Sphilbrick, have I missed anything here? – if so, do please say! Regards to both, Justlettersandnumbers (talk) 21:40, 8 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
Justlettersandnumbers, I think you nailed it. S Philbrick(Talk) 22:18, 8 March 2020 (UTC)Reply
Justlettersandnumbers, The one thing I might add is that the copyrightholder can license acceptably, and show the licensing on the page itself, which is easier to handle than going through OTRS, but that's their call. S Philbrick(Talk) 22:24, 8 March 2020 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject assessment tags for talk pages

edit

Thank you for your recent articles, including Gerngroß Department Store, which I read with interest. When you create a new article, can you add the WikiProject assessment templates to the talk of that article? See the talk page of the article I mentioned for an example of what I mean. Usually it is very simple, you just add something like {{WikiProject Keyword}} to the article's talk, with keyword replaced by the associated WikiProject (ex. if it's a biography article, you would use WikiProject Biography; if it's a United States article, you would use WikiProject United States, and so on). You do not have to rate the article if you do not want to, others will do it eventually. Those templates are very useful, as they bring the articles to a WikiProject attention, and allow them to start tracking the articles through Wikipedia:Article alerts and other tools. For example, WikiProject Poland relies on such templates to generate listings such as Article Alerts, Popular Pages, Quality and Importance Matrix and the Cleanup Listing. Thanks to them, WikiProject members are more easily able to defend your work from deletion, or simply help try to improve it further. You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for violating copyright policy by copying text or images into Wikipedia from another source without evidence of permission. Please take this opportunity to ensure that you understand our copyright policy and our policies regarding how to use non-free content.
If you think there are good reasons for being unblocked, please read the guide to appealing blocks, then add the following text below the block notice on your talk page: {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}.  — Diannaa (talk) 15:02, 3 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

I have blocked your account, because in spite of repeated warnings, you continued to add copyright material to Wikipedia in violation of our copyright policy. You cannot resume editing until you provide a statement describing how copyright applies to Wikipedia, show that you understand our copyright policy, and make a commitment to follow it in the future.— Diannaa (talk) 15:03, 3 January 2021 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

article was sourced, referenced and attributed. In fact the section deleted was including multiple references to various sources. There is an on-going problem at Wikipedia that some editors imagine that an author of a book/site actually is the original source of the information .. e.g. shipslist, wrecksite when in fact their information comes from other sources (or perish the thought was made up or incorrect). I am a qualified librarian.. graduated from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology 1978-81 and know very well what copyright law is and the fact that copyright law differs in different countries for different media (reference the ignorant comments about French postcard copyright that I have witnessed in here. As the book in question was under Australian copyright, if you know more on the subject than I do please cite to me the section of the Australian legislation

Decline reason:

You did not do as asked by Diannaa. We aren't interested in hearing about Australian copyright law, please answer the points given. I am declining your request. 331dot (talk) 12:02, 21 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

There was no breach of copyright

Decline reason:

We will not unblock you until you do as you are directed. Yamla (talk) 13:21, 21 February 2021 (UTC)Reply

Request reason:

I am not going to admit to a breach of copyright if there was none. First we have Diannaa winging it with an unsubstantiated claim (contrary to Australian copyright law) then we have 331dot saying she doesn't care about Australian copyright law (try that one in court!) and now we have a circling of the wagons around a flippant decision of Diannaa and a flaunting of copyright law by 331dot. And you want me to say they are right? Before you get behind Diannaa, you should maybe go back and look at the text she deleted and you will see she was wrong in the first instance rather than compounding her error

Decline reason:

This is clearly going nowhere, since you keep refusing to get the point. Talkpage access revoked. The Blade of the Northern Lights (話して下さい) 16:31, 22 February 2021 (UTC)Reply
