Welcome to Wikipedia. Everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia. However, adding content without citing a reliable source, as you did to Craps, is not consistent with our policy of verifiability. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. If you are already familiar with Wikipedia:Citing sources please take this opportunity to add your original reference to the article. Thank you. Gscshoyru 18:26, 6 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Despite the above, you are still adding unsourced material, without Edit Summaries. Please stop doing that. Thanks!   — Jeff G. (talk|contribs) 18:09, 3 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

Golf Equipment

edit

Hi, thanks for messaging me. I reverted your edits not because they were particularly bad, but because the article is already too long, and adding information such as the info you added (which was good information, but perhaps a bit superfluous and/or redundant) in many cases can actually detract from the content of the article, in my opinion. Better to have short, to-the-point and accurate articles, than all-encompassing, verbose tomes for many articles, I say!  :)

However, if you were to make an edit that "cut down" the size of the article, and then made some or most of the changes you wanted to make, that would be a reasonable compromise. Perhaps re-wording the sentences you chose to edit, eliminating some unnecessary info and adding your own, would work. Let me know if you want any help editing the article, I'm always looking for ways to cut down and improve the golf-related articles. Regards, Rahzel 00:11, 17 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

I went through and did some pruning on the Golf Equipment article. Hopefully the article is more concise now, as well. Feel free to improve my wordings as you see fit! Regards, Rahzel 01:59, 17 October 2007 (UTC)Reply
I started a discussion of the article's length on the talk page. Basically, your information seems good (and I certainly won't revert it again) but I'm still concerned about the length of the article, and in the discussion I propose an article split of some kind. I'd appreciate your input on my suggestion. Regards, Rahzel 22:43, 17 October 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hello,

I noticed that you and some others have expressed concern over the length of the article "golf club (equipment)." I would be interesting in helping split the article up into new articles about the types of golf clubs if you are still interested. Please let me know what I may do to help. WikiProject Golf

edit

Hi Liko81
I thought that a way to further improve the golf articles on Wikipedia is for the whole project to work together towards a goal. An example of this could be a certain number of good articles in so many months, or to create the project's first ever featured article. If you are interested, come to the talk page and discuss it. And hopefully through this the project can continue to work towards several goals in the near future. Grover 10:08, 7 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

WP Golf Template

edit

Hey Liko81 Just quickly, the {{WikiProject Golf}} template should be put on the top of talk pages, not on the bottom of the mainspace pages. I've moved them to the right spot on all of them I think, but its probably worthwhile if you go back and see if I missed any. Anyways, happy editing! Grover 07:04, 10 November 2007 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Beer Blow

edit

A tag has been placed on Beer Blow requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for biographies.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. SYSS Mouse (talk) 22:05, 30 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Beer Blow

edit

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Beer Blow, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Accounting4Taste:talk 22:26, 30 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for your note. Feel free to remove the tag yourself, especially if you can provide anything like a reliable source to bolster your assertions, but you should be advised that I'll immediately submit the article for an Articles for deletion process; I share neither your enthusiasm for nor your conviction as to the breadth of usage and notability of this game. If I can be of any assistance with Wikipedia policies, please leave me a note at your convenience. Accounting4Taste:talk 20:06, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply
Thanks for your further comments. As far as "getting me off this article's back", I'll go ahead and submit it to Articles for deletion, since apparently we are not fated to agree as to its presence here and that process will provide a fairly permanent solution. I encourage you to make the same assertions there as to the breadth of its penetration into society -- believe or not, I applaud your enthusiasm for contributing to Wikipedia and want to foster it. I'll help you if there's something you need help with. I also encourage you to follow the links I've provided that discuss the nature and extent of the various policies involved, such as the reliable sources policy and WP:SPS. The AfD process will take a few minutes, since I have other matters underway. Accounting4Taste:talk 20:45, 2 June 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image source problem with Image:Quad-Ominoes Set.jpg

Image Copyright problem

Thanks for uploading Image:Quad-Ominoes Set.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, their copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 19:33, 11 September 2008 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. J Milburn (talk) 19:33, 11 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Abstract strategy game

edit

I was just wondering if there's a reason you deleted the Capture Games section you put together. From what I could tell, that section was good and would benefit the article if you want to keep it in. (I figured I would ask you before restoring it myself, just in case maybe you noticed it was duplicating existing entries or something). —Politizertalk • contribs ) 19:05, 15 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Regarding the capture games: that's understandable, I can see why you did that. I don't really mind your undoing of those edits, I was just curious.
Regarding Hive: I have never played that game and I'm not really an expert in tile games in general, I was just reverting because I agreed with McGeddon's edit summary when he reverted the same content earlier, and you hadn't provided an edit summary so I wasn't sure what your rationale was for replacing the information. Again, I don't know much about Hive, but personally it seems to me like it's a matter of determining to what extent Hive is "unique" and to what extent that uniqueness is notable. Most games, I would assume, differ in some way from the other games in which they are classed; and I can't tell whether Hive's differences are enough to make it really notable (in the context of that paragraph, not just notable in general) or whether it's just another variant of one or two game genres—that's not really a decision I can make, given my lack of experience with the game.
In any case, since the part of the article where you inserted stuff about Hive is basically a list, my gut instinct would be that no matter how notable it is, it should be kept down to a single brief sentence at most, since the point of that section seems to be to list exemplars of a few major features of games; a more detailed analysis of why Hive is unique would be more appopriately included at Hive (game). —Politizertalk • contribs ) 20:15, 15 October 2008 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for uploading File:Hive-Complete.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. FASTILYsock(TALK) 00:32, 17 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Hi. In Trick-taking game, you recently added a link to the disambiguation page Skat (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver).   Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Quantum mechanics. Doing so helps everyone understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. TOTD

edit
Tip of the day...

Please summarize your work using the Edit summary box

If you make anything other than a minor edit to an article, it helps others if you fill in the edit summary. Edit summaries are visible in the page history, watchlists, and on Recent changes, so they help other users keep track of what is happening to a page.

If you use section editing, the summary box is filled in with the section heading by default (in gray text), which you can follow with more detail. You also can put links to articles in the edit summary. Just put double brackets around [[the article title]] like you would normally. The summary is limited to 255 characters, so many people use common abbreviations, such as sp for correcting spelling mistakes, rm for remove, ce for copy-edit, etc.

Read more:

Consensus is to Help:Edit_summary#Always provide an edit summary.

It's a shame you've so far shunned ESs - is there some reason why you've done so? Trafford09 (talk) 18:34, 7 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

File permission problem with File:Dablot-Mid.jpg

edit

Thanks for uploading File:Dablot-Mid.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.

If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Fut.Perf. 20:01, 7 February 2012 (UTC)Reply

Philip Stopford

edit

Hi! It seems you recently created an unreferenced biography of a living person: Philip Stopford. The community has decided that all new biographies of living persons must contain a reliable source that supports at least one statement made about the person in the article as per our verifiability policy. Please add references as soon as possible. Thanks! --LaraBot (talk) 00:13, 15 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Philip Stopford

edit

The article Philip Stopford has been proposed for deletion because it appears to have no references. Under Wikipedia policy, this newly created biography of a living person will be deleted unless it has at least one reference to a reliable source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't be offended. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Referencing for beginners, or ask at the help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. j⚛e deckertalk 19:03, 17 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
